Based on the rate equations, we have investigated three types of chaos
synchronizations in injection-locked semiconductor lasers with optical
feedback. Numerical simulation shows that the synchronization can be
realized by the symmetric or asymmetric laser systems. Also, the influence
of parameter mismatches on chaos synchronization is investigated, and the
results imply that these two lasers can achieve good synchronization, with
smaller tolerance of parameter mismatch existing. 相似文献

We report the first experimental observation of anticipating chaotic synchronization in an optical system using two diode lasers as transmitter and receiver. The transmitter laser is rendered chaotic by application of an optical feedback in an external-cavity configuration. Based on the SFM model [M. San Miguel, Q. Feng, J.V. Moloney, Phys. Rev. A. 52 (1995) 1728.], complete chaotic synchronization characteristics of linear-polarization (LP) Mode of the vertical-cavity surface-emitting semiconductor lasers (VCSELs) with isotropic optical feedback are numerically investigated. When the propagation time τc of light from the transmitter to the receiver equals to the external cavity round-trip time τ, and the central frequency of the T_VCSEL matches that of the R_VCSEL, in large scale region of the feedback coefficient and the injection current where the x-polarization mode as well as the y-polarization mode obtains high synchronization quality at the same time. However, in the central frequency mismatch regions where the x- and y-polarization mode can obtain inferior synchronization quality at same time. But for τc ≠ τ, each LP mode of the mixed polarization modes achieved inferior synchronization quality at the same time. Besides, with big enough injection current, the output of the system with the same central frequency in two lasers is entirely governed by the y-polarization mode when the feedback coefficient and Δτ(=τc − τ) fixed at a certain value. So the system can realize steadily good synchronization of the completely dominant y-polarization mode. But the synchronization quality of the completely dominated y-polarization mode can be deteriorated by increasing absolute frequency detuning value. Besides, in positive frequency mismatch regions where the influence of the same frequency detuning value on the synchronization quality of the entirely governed y-polarization mode becomes smaller than in negative frequency detuning regions. At last, when τ is given and the central frequency of the T_VCSEL matches that of the R_VCSEL, the influence of the τc is not a simple time-shift in the time-evolution of the receiver VCSEL, which has serious influence on the complete synchronization quality of each LP mode. 相似文献

We have discussed numerically the characterization of time delay (TD) signature in a chaotic vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) subject to optical feedback, where the results for polarization-preserved optical feedback (PPOF) and polarization-rotated optical feedback (PROF) are presented comparatively. It is found that, when the feedback strength is moderate, TD signature can be retrieved successfully by analyzing the total intensity, intensities of x-linearly polarized (x-LP) mode, and y-LP mode in a VCSEL with PPOF; while for PROF case, the intensity amplitude peaks in autocorrelation function (ACF)/delayed mutual information (DMI) of the two orthogonal LP modes are located at multiple values of TD. Furthermore, the influence of the feedback strength and time delay has been investigated. The results show that, a further increase of the feedback strength (roughly>40 ns?1) leads to the successful identification of the TD signature in the two LP mode intensities of VCSELs with PROF. It is also observed that the estimation of TD depends significantly on the value of the spin–flip relaxation rate (γs). For low relaxation rates the TD signature could be much easier to be revealed by the two LP modes than that for large values of relaxation rate in VCSELs with PROF. Finally the influence of injection current and the device linear anisotropies is investigated, and the results of TD estimation are confirmed by calculating permutation entropy (PE). 相似文献

Chaotic dynamics of a semiconductor laser subject to incoherent optical feedback (IOF) are experimentally investigated, and the external cavity time are retrieved and measured from intensity time series of the laser output by using self-correlation function and the mutual information. Through moderating feedback strength and injection current of the laser, the external cavity time signature of the laser chaotic output is effectively attenuated, and then the security of such chaos encryption system can be assured to a certain degree. 相似文献

In this Letter, the chaotification for a class of cellular neural networks with distributed delays is studied. On the basis of the largest Lyapunov exponent, the sensitivity to the initial conditions is studied for the distributed delays with kernel being weak and strong. Some theoretical results about the chaotification for the neural network with distributed time delays are derived. The synchronization of chaotic semiconductor lasers with optical feedback is studied numerically in a one-way coupling configuration, in which a small amount of the intensity of one laser (master laser) is injected coherently into the other (slave laser). A regime of anticipated synchronization is found, in which the intensity of the slave laser is synchronized to the future chaotic intensity of the master laser. Anticipation is robust to small noise and parameter mismatches, but in this case the synchronization is not complete. It is also shown that anticipated synchronization occurs in coupled time-delay systems, when the coupling has a delay that is less than the delay of the systems. 相似文献

We numerically investigate the complete chaotic synchronization mechanism of polarization mode of VCSEL with anisotropic optical feedback. Firstly, the synchronization quality of the x-linear polarization (LP) mode and the y-LP mode are both periodically changed with the angle θ between the polarizer and the light axes. Secondly, in a enough large scale region of the feedback coefficient and the injection current, where each LP mode can obtained good synchronization quality when the angle θ exists in the former half period region and the injection current is fixed at a certain value, which is over the threshold current. Under this condition, their synchronization quality is independent of the polarization states. By contrast, in the latter half period region of the angle θ where each LP mode can be obtained very instable and inferior synchronized quality. At last, the robustness of the synchronization scheme is sensitive to the internal and external parameter mismatch between the transmitter-VCSEL and the receiver-VCSEL. 相似文献

The parallel synchronization of three chaotic lasers is used to emulate optoelectronic logic NOR and XNOR gates via modulating the light and the current. We deduce a logical computational equation that governs the chaotic synchronization, logical input, and logical output. We construct fundamental gates based on the three chaotic lasers and define the computational principle depending on the parallel synchronization. The logic gate can be implemented by appropriately synchronizing two chaotic lasers. The system shows practicability and flexibility because it can emulate synchronously an XNOR gate, two NOR gates, and so on. The synchronization can still be deteceted when mismatches exist with a certain range. 相似文献

Time-delay (TD) signatures of chaotic outputs generated by vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) are investigated quantitatively by using two proposed estimators, the peak signal to mean ratio (PSMR) calculated based on the auto-correlation function, and the valley signal to mean ratio (VSMR) calculated based on an information-theory-based estimator, the permutation entropy (PE) function. The VCSELs subject to variable-polarization optical feedback (VPOF) are considered, and the effects of polarizer angle, feedback strength, feedback delay and injection current are discussed. When the feedback strength is small, the TD signatures for the fully developed chaotic outputs of VCSELs can be well concealed for all polarizer angles. While for large feedback strength, the TD signatures cannot be concealed for any polarizer angle. However, for moderate feedback strength, the TD signatures of VCSELs with VPOF at intermediate polarizer angles can be better concealed than those of VCSELs with conventional polarization-selected optical feedback. Thus, the VCSELs with VPOF are extremely interesting for the security-enhanced chaotic optical communication systems. 相似文献

Using this method an enhanced—3-dB bandwidth is observed in agreement with the small signal rate equation analysis. A modulation response that drops at high frequencies slower than the conventional direct current modulation response is achieved.
