Lowest-order, single-mode laser oscillation is reported in gain-guided index-antiguided fiber lasers having core diameters from 100 to 400 microm. A model is presented explaining how to select resonator mirrors to assure single-mode operation.  相似文献

An exact analytical expression of the threshold pump power for the one-end-pumped Yb3+-doped gain-guided and index-antiguided (GG–IAG) fiber laser has been obtained by solving the improved rate equations (REs) with the additional leakage losses. The effects of Yb3+ concentration, fiber length, core radius and mirror reflectivity on the threshold pump power are discussed. After optimizing, the results show that the laser threshold of GG–IAG fiber laser can be greatly reduced while maintaining single mode oscillation. Compared to the numerical methods, the analytical expression has easy calculation and distinct results.  相似文献

分析比较了处理水平变化波导中声传播问题的两种耦合简正波方法:DGMCM(Direct-Global-Matrix Coupled-Mode Method)和CCMM(Consistent Coupled-Mode Method)。首先,两种方法都提供声场的双向解,具有很高的计算精度。其次,DGMCM和CCMM中本地垂直模式序列均具有较快的收敛速度,但DGMCM比CCMM需要较少的水平分段数。再次,两种方法通过求解不同的耦合简正波系统得到声场解,但求解过程中所需参数的计算量基本相同。另外,DGMCM能够处理某些CCMM不容易解决的问题,如海底形状不平滑,线源在斜坡海底上方,以及多声源问题。在DGMCM方法中给出了双层波导问题的耦合矩阵解析表达式,还推导更新了CCMM模型,使其能够处理二维线源问题。  相似文献

用液相外延方法制做了十五个氧化物条形半导体激光器集成在一起的耦合多条形激光器,实现了锁相工作,脉冲峰值功率为4W/plane(300ns,5kHz).在对单条形激光器的模式特性完成数值分析的基础上,运用耦合模理论,对耦合多条形激光器的波导特性进行了数值分析和计算,计算结果和实验基本一致.  相似文献

In this paper, the thermal characteristics of gain-guided and index-antiguided (GG-IAG) fiber amplifier were investigated with a 3-D heat flow model, based on rate equations. From the simulation results, it is found that the longitudinal heat conduction has a very important influence on the GG-IAG fiber amplifier temperature distribution, and the GG-IAG fiber amplifier would be subjected to a more serious thermal problem. Finally, the influence of different pump directions, cooling methods, cladding radius and negative refractive index step on the temperature distribution has also been studied.  相似文献

Analytically-derived vector corrections are included as additional coupling coefficients in numerical calculations of scalar coupled-mode and compound-mode theory (SCMT) of composite fibre–slab waveguides. The slab waveguide is asymmetric, with moderate light-wave guiding and coupling assumed and the resultant polarization effects are of interest. It is found that the modifications to light propagation and coupling coefficients determined previously by first-order SCMT are dependent mainly on the strength of coupled fibre and slab modes, the thickness of the guiding layers and the ratio of refractive indices of guiding to cladding layer (asymmetry of the slab waveguide). The vector corrections observed are not significant compared with our previous SCMT results, as the optical constants defined appear to satisfy the approximations necessary for the scalar analysis. 提出了一种高效、精确而且数值稳定的耦合简正波方法,用于求解水平变化波导中的声传播问题。与现有的数值模型相比,本方法采用合理的归一化距离解,极大地提高了数值稳定性;通过结合一个前向传播过程和一个后向传播过程,该方法极大地提高了计算精度,可用于精确求解水平变化波导中的声传播问题,尤其适用于大角度斜坡以及海底与海水声阻抗差别较大的问题;此外,通过采用单次散射近似,该方法极大地提高了计算效率,而且对计算条件要求较低。从数值结果可以看出,本方法是一种高效、精确而且数值稳定的求解水平变化波导声传播问题的耦合简正波方法。  相似文献

Two coupled-mode methods,namely DGMCM(Direct-Global-Matrix CoupledMode Method)and CCMM(Consistent Coupled-Mode Method),are analyzed and compared.First,both of these two methods provide two-way solutions,and hence they are accurate models.Second、the series of local vertical modes in DGMCM converges as fast as that in CCMM,whereas DGMCM has a more tolerable requirement of the number of segments than CCMM.Third,these two models obtain the field solution by solving the coupled-mode system with different coefficient matrices,in which the computational etfort for the required parameters is almost the same.Finally,DGMCM can handle some problems which are difficult for CCMM,such as in a waveguide with a rough bottom,a line source located right on top of a sloping bottom,or in the presence of multiple sources.In DGMCM,closed-form expressions for coupling matrices in a two-layer waveguide are given.In addition.the formulation for the line-source problem in plane geometry is derived to update CCMM.  相似文献

依据导电介质的稳态电场理论建立了一种对增益导波型垂直腔半导体激光器注入电流矢量分析的三维解析模型. 计算研究了电流密度空间分布及其与顶面电注入环参量之间的相互关联性. 结果显示在两极之间存在一个载流子径向分布中心极大的区域. 由于激光功率与注入电流之间存在线性关系,因此,要使器件能够获得基模或中心均匀的光强输出以及尽可能低的阈值,应使激光有源层与载流子均匀分布的临界层重合. 计算结果对顶发射与底发射结构以及不同环参数下的载流子分布情况及对近场模式形成的影响进行了分析和讨论. 关键词: 垂直谐振腔激光器 注入电流 激光模式  相似文献

The general principles for designing mode converters based on air-hole collapse in photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) are theoretically investigated in this paper. The splice-like point in mode converters is found unnecessary for mode conversion; however, two different and separated cores, the adiabatic transitional part and the final merged core, are essential. Three structures are investigated using logical deduction, and the numerical results agree well with the logical conclusions.  相似文献

A review has been conducted on the application of the spectroscopic techniques to the comparative study and identification of different textile fibers. Microspectrophotometry in the ultraviolet-visible range and Raman spectroscopy are the main techniques investigated with this aim in the forensic field. UV-Vis MSP is the first recommended technique, which is principally used to study the color of the fibers. A more complete approximation focused on determining the specific color of the fibers providing adding Raman spectroscopy to the analytical scheme. Sometimes, it also provided information about the polymeric nature of the fibers. Regarding FTIR spectroscopy, it is the recommended tool to determine the fiber nature. Raman and FTIR spectroscopy are complementary techniques and a frequent recommendation is a combination of both techniques, in order to get a comprehensive analysis of textile fibers. On the other hand, new and more informative analytical techniques are emerging to the analysis of textile fibers as traces related with criminal contacts, such as infrared chemical imaging spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy.  相似文献

We propose, for the first time to our knowledge, an improved effective-index method (IEIM) that has the advantage of high speed and much better accuracy than the conventional effective-index method. The detection of gases with the use of ATR spectroscopy in a multimode step-index-tapered fiber with porous cladding has been described. Geometrical optics has been used to derive an expression for the time-dependent evanescent absorbance as the gas diffuses through the cladding. The ratio of the radii of core and cladding has been assumed to be constant throughout the length of the taper. It has been shown that the relative evanescent absorbance depends on the taper ratio. As the taper ratio increases, the response time of the sensor decreases.  相似文献

We studied an anomalous result in the measured stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold for single-mode optical fibers with different refractive index profiles and effective areas. It was found that, in addition to the optical effective area, the refractive-index-dependent interaction between the optical and the acoustic fields must be considered in order to account for the differences in the stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold between fiber types. A detailed analytical formalism describing the acousto-optic interaction was derived to accommodate the influence of the index profile design on Brillouin scattering.  相似文献

A novel design of single-mode large-mode-area optical fiber is presented. The core is composed of alternate high and low-index regions to form an effectively low-index contrast between the core and the cladding. The proposed fiber is investigated by the finite-element method with anisotropic perfect matched layer boundary conditions. In addition, the bending losses of the fibers are calculated and compared with those of the step-index optical fibers. In particular, numerical simulations demonstrate that single-mode operation can be achieved in one such fiber with mode area larger than 600 μm2 at the wavelength of 1.55 μm and bending loss lower than 0.02 dB/m for bending radius greater than 20 cm.  相似文献
