We present the phase control of photon correlations in a driven four-level system in the double lambda configuration. The strong correlation and the anticorrelation are. obtained when the collective phase of four applied laser fields is varied. The coherent control is based on the phase-dependent coherent population trapping (CPT). The strong correlation occurs when the system operates near CPT, while the anticorrelation occurs when the system is far away from CPT. 相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate a light storage via slow-light four-wave mixing in a solid-state medium with a four-level double lambda scheme. Using slow light based on electromagnetically induced transparency, we obtain a slowed four-wave mixing signal pulse together with the slowed probe pulse. During the propagation of light pulses, the storage and retrieval of both the slowed four-wave mixing pulse and the slowed probe pulse are studied by manipulating the intensities of the control fields. 相似文献

The polarization dependence of beat structure in spectrally resolved four-wave mixing was investigated on 50 Å GaAs multiple quantum wells. Under crosslinear polarization we observed a beating structure at higher energy region of the main spectral peak due to biexciton–exciton transition. The beat has a period of 0.95 ps and is constructive at delay time T=0 ps, which suggests the corresponding double Feynman diagrams to be of the same type. By shortening the central wavelength of the sub-ps laser, we observed the distinctive peak corresponding to the beat period. Even in GaAs system, which is generally believed to have a small biexcitonic effect, there are two effective 2-exciton states with well-defined energies which are required to describe the third-order optical nonlinearly. 相似文献

By introducing the four-level state ket-bra operators as atomic variables, we show that the Hamiltonian of a four-level system
with two lower levels and two top levels, which are respectively almost degenerate, interacting with four light fields through
double Λ configuration process, can be reformed as a standard Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian. Then the supersymmetric transformation
method can be employed to diagonalize the Hamiltonian. This approach may be generalized to tackle other atom-photon interaction

We propose a theoretical scheme to realize nonreciprocal transition between two energy levels that can not coupled directly. Suppose they are coupled indirectly by two auxiliary levels with a cyclic four-level configuration, and the four transitions in the cyclic configuration are controlled by external fields. The indirectly transition become nonreciprocal when the time reversal symmetry of the system is broken by the synthetic magnetic flux, i.e., the total phase of the external driving fields through the cyclic four-level configuration. The nonreciprocal transition can be identified by the elimination of a spectral line in the spontaneous emission spectrum. Our work introduces a feasible way to observe nonreciprocal transition in a wide range of multi-level systems, including natural atoms or ions with parity symmetry. 相似文献

We analyze the behavior of optical bistability in a four-level mercury atomic system driven by a cavity and two external coherent
fields by means of a unidirectional ring cavity. We find that without interacting dark resonances and for large intensity
of coupling field, the optical bistability disappears. So, the double dark resonances could significantly establish the optical
bistability. Moreover, we demonstrate that the double dark resonances can dramatically reduce the threshold of optical bistability. 相似文献

We have investigated the dispersive properties of excited-doublet four-level atoms interacting with a weak probe field and an intense coupling laser field. We have derived an analytical expression of the dispersion relation for a general excited-doublet four-level atomic system subject to a one-photon detuning. The numerical results demonstrate that for a typical rubidium D1 line configuration, due to the unequal dipole moments for the transitions of each ground state to double excited states, generally there exists no exact dark state in the system. Close to the two-photon resonance, the probe light can be absorbed or gained and propagate in the so-called superluminal form. This system may be used as an optical switch. 相似文献

A scheme for giant enhancement of the Kerr nonlinearity in a four-level system with double dark resonances is proposed. Compared with that generated in a single-dark-resonance system, the Kerr nonlinearity can be enhanced by several orders of magnitude with vanishing linear absorption. The giant Kerr nonlinearity in a four-level double Lambda type atomic system is theoretically predicted. We find that an enhanced Kerr nonlinearity can be achieved just by the intensity of coupling filed that lies within the transparency window. The time-dependent analysis of four-wave mixing(FWM) has been performed in four-level double semiconductor quantum wells(SQWs) considering the cross-coupling of the longitude-optical phonons(LOP) relaxation. It is shown that both the amplitude and the conversion efficiency of the FWM field enhance greatly with the increasing strength of cross-coupling of LOP relaxation. Interestingly, a double peak value of the conversion efficiency is obtained under a relatively weak single-photon detuning considering the LOP coupling. When the detuning becomes stronger,the double peaks turn into one peak appearing at the line respect to the about equality two control fields. The results can be interpreted by the effect of electromagnetically induced transparency and the indirect transition. Such controlled high efficiency FWM based on the cross-coupling LOP may have potential applications in quantum control and communications. 相似文献

Destructive and constructive quantum interferences exhibited in a four-level Y-configuration double-control atomic system are suggested. It is shown that the probe transition (driven by the probe field) can be manipulated by the quantum interferences between two control transitions (driven by the control fields) of the four-level system. The atomic vapor is opaque (or transparent) to the probe field if the destructive (or constructive) quantum interference between the control transitions emerges. The optically sensitive responses due to double-control quantum interferences can be utilized to realize some quantum optical and photonic devices such as the logic-gate devices, e.g., the NOT, OR, NOR and EXNOR gates. 相似文献

The transmission spectrum of four-level atoms in a cavity is calculated. It is shown that the four separate peaks associated
with normal mode splitting and intra-cavity double dark states can be observed simultaneously. The position and intensity
of the four peaks can be controlled by the intensity of the third interacting light. Therefore, the enhancement of normal
mode splitting by a third coupling light of the intra-cavity four-level atoms is developed.

We have investigated the two-dimensional (2D) atom localization via probe absorption in a coherently driven four-level atomic system by means of a radio-frequency field driving a hyperfine transition. It is found that the detecting probability and precision of 2D atom localization can be significantly improved via adjusting the system parameters. We propose a simple method to estimate the biexcitonic contribution to the excitonic non-linearity. The method is based on the time integrated four-wave mixing (TI FWM) with picosecond pulses. The TI FWM signal, which is measured as a function of the delay between pump and test pulses, shows shift towards positive and negative time delay when the laser is tuned at the exciton and biexciton resonance, respectively. We show theoretically that the magnitude of the shift allows us to estimate the biexcitonic contribution to the third-order non-linearity at the fundamental band edge. 相似文献
