Problems for two classes of nonlinear hereditary media are reduced by integral transforms to problems of the nonlinear theory of elasticity. An approximation of the elastic solution that makes it possible to solve the formulated problems for nonlinear hereditary materials is demonstrated in the case when the viscoelastic problems reduce to problems of the theory of small elastoplastic strains with active loading.Lomonosov Moscow State University. In this paper the results in [5] and [6] related to two-parameter nonlinear problems and computing the folds of degree 3 are generalized to any n-parameter nonlinear problems. Constructing a repeatedly extended system for an n-parameter nonlinear problem we prove that a fold of degree n+1 corresponds to a regular solution of its n-th extended system. Also, the equivalence between the n-th extended system and its reduced system is proved. Finally, some examples are computed.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to give new formulations for the unconstrained 0–1 nonlinear problem. The unconstrained 0–1 nonlinear problem is reduced to nonlinear continuous problems where the objective functions are piecewise linear. In the first formulation, the objective function is a difference of two convex functions while the other formulations lead to concave problems. It is shown that the concave problems we obtain have fewer integer local minima than has the classical concave formulation of the 0–1 unconstrained 0–1 nonlinear problem.  相似文献

The paper considers different formulations of inverse eigenvalue problems for matrices whose entries either polynomially or rationally depend on unknown parameters. An approach to solving inverse problems together with numerical algorithms is suggested. The solution of inverse problems is reduced to the problem of finding the so-called discrete solutions of nonlinear algebraic systems. The corresponding systems are constructed using the method of traces, and their discrete roots are found by applying the algorithms for solving nonlinear algebraic systems in several variables previously suggested by the author. Two-grid finite volume element discretization techniques, based on two linear conforming finite element spaces on one coarse and one fine grid, are presented for the two-dimensional second-order non-selfadjoint and indefinite linear elliptic problems and the two-dimensional second-order nonlinear elliptic problems. With the proposed techniques, solving the non-selfadjoint and indefinite elliptic problem on the fine space is reduced into solving a symmetric and positive definite elliptic problem on the fine space and solving the non-selfadjoint and indefinite elliptic problem on a much smaller space; solving a nonlinear elliptic problem on the fine space is reduced into solving a linear problem on the fine space and solving the nonlinear elliptic problem on a much smaller space. Convergence estimates are derived to justify the efficiency of the proposed two-grid algorithms. A set of numerical examples are presented to confirm the estimates. A nonlinear loaded differential equation with a parameter on a finite interval is studied. The interval is partitioned by the load points, at which the values of the solution to the equation are set as additional parameters. A nonlinear boundary value problem for the considered equation is reduced to a nonlinear multipoint boundary value problem for the system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations with parameters. For fixed parameters, we obtain the Cauchy problems for ordinary differential equations on the subintervals. Substituting the values of the solutions to these problems into the boundary condition and continuity conditions at the partition points, we compose a system of nonlinear algebraic equations in parameters. A method of solving the boundary value problem with a parameter is proposed. The method is based on finding the solution to the system of nonlinear algebraic equations composed.  相似文献

Singular perturbation techniques are applied to a class of nonlinear, fixed-endpoint control problems to decompose the full-order problem into three lower-order problems, namely, the reduced problem and the left and right boundary-layer problems. The boundary-layer problems are linear-quadratic and, contrary to previous singular perturbation works, the reduced problem has a simple formulation. The solutions of these lower-order problems are combined to yield an approximate solution to the full nonlinear problem. We investigate the effect of a reinforcing ring on the stress-strain state of a cylindrical shell in the geometrically nonlinear problem with a nonaxisymmetric load on the edge. The nonlinear boundary-value problem is reduced to a sequence of linear problems by the quasilinearization method. The linear problems are solved by the discrete orthogonalization method. We study a system composed of a nonlinear Stokes flow in one subdomain coupled with a nonlinear porous medium flow in another subdomain. Special attention is paid to the mathematical consequence of the shear-dependent fluid viscosity for the Stokes flow and the velocity-dependent effective viscosity for the Darcy flow. Motivated by the physical setting, we consider the case where only flow rates are specified on the inflow and outflow boundaries in both subdomains. We recast the coupled Stokes–Darcy system as a reduced matching problem on the interface using a mortar space approach. We prove a number of properties of the nonlinear interface operator associated with the reduced problem, which directly yield the existence, uniqueness and regularity of a variational solution to the system. We further propose and analyze a numerical algorithm based on mortar finite elements for the interface problem and conforming finite elements for the subdomain problems. Optimal a priori error estimates are established for the interface and subdomain problems, and a number of compatibility conditions for the finite element spaces used are discussed. Numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the algorithm and to compare two treatments of the defective boundary conditions.  相似文献

We consider nonlinear programming problems the input data of which are not fixed, but vary in some real compact intervals. The aim of this paper is to determine bounds of the optimal values. We propose a general framework for solving such problems. Under some assumption, the exact lower and upper bounds are computable by using two non-interval optimization problems. While these two optimization problems are hard to solve in general, we show that for some particular subclasses they can be reduced to easy problems. Subclasses that are considered are convex quadratic programming and posynomial geometric programming.  相似文献

Parameter-uniform numerical methods for singularly perturbed nonlinear scalar initial value problems are both constructed and analysed in this paper. The conditions on the initial condition for a stable initial layer to form are identified. The character of a stable initial layer in the vicinity of a double root of the reduced algebraic problem is different to the standard layer structures appearing in the neighbourhood of a single stable root of the reduced problem. Results for a problem where two reduced solutions intersect are also discussed. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the theoretical results obtained.  相似文献

The nonlinear eigenvalue problem in buckling analysis is studied for von Kármán plates. By using the general duality theory developed by Gao-Strang [1, 2] it is proved that the stability criterion for the bifurcated state depends on a reduced complementary gap function. The duality theory is established for nonlinear bifurcation problems. This theory shows that the nonlinear eigenvalue problem is eventually equivalent to a coupled quadratic dual optimization problem. A series of equivalent variational principles are constructed and a lower bound theorem for the first eigenvalue of the buckling factor is proved.  相似文献

We study how boundary conditions affect the multiple-scale analysis of hyperbolic conservation laws with rapid spatial fluctuations. The most significant difficulty occurs when one has insufficient boundary conditions to solve consistency conditions. We show how to overcome this missing boundary condition difficulty for both linear and nonlinear problems through the recovery of boundary information. We introduce two methods for this recovery (multiple-scale analysis with a reduced set of scales, and a combination of Laplace transforms and multiple scales) and show that they are roughly equivalent. We also show that the recovered boundary information is likely to contain secular terms if the initial conditions are nonzero. However, for the linear problem, we demonstrate how to avoid these secular terms to construct a solution that is valid for all time. For nonlinear problems, we argue that physically relevant problems do not exhibit the missing boundary condition difficulty.  相似文献
