Using the tricyano precursor (Bu(4)N)[(Tp)Cr(CN)(3)] (Bu(4)N(+) = tetrabutylammonium cation; Tp = tris(pyrazolyl)hydroborate), a pentanuclear heterometallic cluster [(Tp)(2)Cr(2)(CN)(6)Cu(3)(Me(3)tacn)(3)][(Tp)Cr(CN)(3)](ClO(4))(3)·5H(2)O (1, Me(3)tacn = N,N',N'-trimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane), three tetranuclear heterometallic clusters [(Tp)(2)Cr(2)(CN)(6)Cu(2)(L(OEt))(2)]·2.5CH(3)CN (2, L(OEt) = [(Cp)Co(P(O)(OEt)(2))(3)], Cp = cyclopentadiene), [(Tp)(2)Cr(2)(CN)(6)Mn(2)(L(OEt))(2)]·4H(2)O (3), and [(Tp)(2)Cr(2)(CN)(6)Mn(2)(phen)(4)](ClO(4))(2) (4, phen = phenanthroline), and a one-dimensional (1D) chain polymer [(Tp)(2)Cr(2)(CN)(6)Mn(bpy)](n) (5, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Complex 1 shows a trigonal bipyramidal geometry in which [(Tp)Cr(CN)(3)](-) units occupy the apical positions and are linked through cyanide to [Cu(Me(3)tacn)](2+) units situated in the equatorial plane. Complexes 2-4 show similar square structures, where Cr(III) and M(II) (M = Cu(II) or Mn(II)) ions are alternatively located on the rectangle corners. Complex 5 consists of a 4,2-ribbon-like bimetallic chain. Ferromagnetic interactions between Cr(III) and Cu(II) ions bridged by cyanides are observed in complexes 1 and 2. Antiferromagnetic interactions are presented between Cr(III) and Mn(II) ions bridged by cyanides in complexes 3-5. Complex 5 shows metamagnetic behavior with a critical field of about 22.5 kOe at 1.8 K.  相似文献

Reaction of [(Me3tacn)Cu(H2O)2]2+ (Me3tacn = N,N',N' '-trimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane) with [TpFe(CN)3]- (Tp- = hydrotris(pyrazolyl)borate) in a mixture of ethanol and acetonitrile affords the pentanuclear cluster [Tp2(Me3tacn)3Cu3Fe2(CN)6]4+. Single-crystal X-ray analysis reveals a trigonal bipyramidal structure featuring a D3h-symmetry core in which two opposing FeIII (S = 1/2) centers are linked through cyanide bridges to an equatorial triangle of three CuII (S = 1/2) centers. Fits to variable-temperature dc magnetic susceptibility data are consistent with ferromagnetic coupling to give an S = 5/2 ground state, while fits to low-temperature magnetization data indicate the presence of a large axial zero-field splitting (D = -5.7 cm-1). Frequency dependence observed in the ac magnetic susceptibility data confirms single-molecule magnet behavior, with an effective spin reversal barrier of Ueff = 16 cm-1. When compared with the much lower anisotropy barrier previously observed for the face-centered cubic cluster [Tp8(H2O)6Cu6Fe8(CN)6]4+, the results demonstrate the enormous influence of the geometry in which a given set of metal ions are arranged.  相似文献

The reactions of [M(II)(Tpm(Me))(H2O)3]2+ (M = Ni, Co, Fe; Tpm(Me) = tris(3,5-dimethyl-1-pyrazoyl)methane) with [Bu4N][(Tp)Fe(III)(CN)3] (Bu4N+ = tetrabutylammonium cation; Tp = tris(pyrazolyl)hydroborate) in MeCN-Et2O afford three pentanuclear cyano-bridged clusters, [(Tp)3(Tpm(Me))2Fe(III)3M(II)2(CN)9]ClO4.15H2O (M = Ni, 1; M = Co, 2) and [(Tp)3(Tpm(Me))2Fe(III)3Fe(II)2(CN)9]BF4.15H2O (3). Single-crystal X-ray analyses reveal that they show the same trigonal bipyramidal structure featuring a D3h-symmetry core, in which two opposing Tpm(Me)-ligated M(II) ions situated in the two apical positions are linked through cyanide bridges to an equatorial triangle of three Tp-ligated Fe(III) (S = 1/2) centers. Magnetic studies for complex 1 show ferromagnetic coupling giving an S = 7/2 ground state and an appreciable magnetic anisotropy with a negative D(7/2) value equal to -0.79 cm(-1). Complex 2 shows zero-field splitting parameters deducted from the magnetization data with D = -1.33 cm(-1) and g = 2.81. Antiferromagnetic interaction was observed in complex 3.  相似文献

Using the tricyano precursor, (Bu4N)[(Tp)Fe(CN)3] (Tp = Tris(pyrazolyl) hydroborate) (1), four new tetranuclear clusters, [(Tp)Fe(CN)3Cu(Tp)]2.2H2O (2), [(Tp)Fe(CN)3Cu(bpca)]2.4H2O (3) (bpca = bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amidate anion), [(Tp)Fe(CN)3Ni(tren)]2(ClO4)2.2H2O (4) (tren = tris(2-amino)ethylamine), and [(Tp)Fe(CN)3Ni(bipy)2]2[(Tp)Fe(CN)3]2.6H2O (5) (bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine), have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The four clusters possess similar square structures, where FeIII and MII (M = CuII or NiII) ions alternate at the rectangle corners. There exist intermolecular - stacking interactions through pyrazolyl groups of Tp- ligands in complexes 2 and 4, which lead to 1D chain structures. Complex 5 shows a 3D network structure through the coexistence of - stacking effects and hydrogen-bonding interactions. Magnetic studies show intramolecular ferromagnetic interactions in all four clusters. The exchange parameters are +11.91 and +1.38 cm(-1) for clusters 2 and 3, respectively, while uniaxial molecular anisotropy can be detected in complex 3 due to the distorted core in its molecular structure. Complex 4 has a ground state of S = 3 and shows SMM behavior with an effective energy barrier of U = 18.9 cm(-1). Unusual spin-glass-like dynamic relaxations are observed for complex 5.  相似文献

With the use of Kl?ui's tripodal ligand, [(Cp)Co(P(O)(OEt)(2))(3)](-) (L(CoEt), Cp = cyclopentadiene) as the auxiliary ligand to react with different metal salts and tricyanometalate building blocks, five neutral trimetallic hexanuclear complexes: [(Tp)(2)Fe(2)(CN)(6)Cu(2)(L(CoEt))(2)]·6H(2)O (1, Tp = hydridotris(pyrazolyl)borate), [(Tp*)(2)Fe(2)(CN)(6)Cu(2)(L(CoEt))(2)]·2H(2)O (2, Tp* = hydridotris(3,5-dimethyl-pyrazolyl)borate), [(pzTp)(2)Fe(2)(CN)(6)Cu(2)(L(CoEt))(2)]·H(2)O·3MeOH (3, pzTp = tetra(pyrazolyl)borate), [(Tp)(2)Fe(2)(CN)(6)Ni(2)(L(CoEt))(2)(MeCN)(2)]·2MeCN·2H(2)O (4) and [(Tp)(2)Fe(2)(CN)(6)Mn(2)(L(CoEt))(2)(MeCN)(2)]·2MeCN (5), have been obtained and structurally characterized. Magnetic measurements confirm that there are ferromagnetic couplings between the cyano-bridged Fe and Cu/or Ni ions and antiferromagnetic interaction between the cyano-bridged Fe and Mn ions. Slow relaxation of the magnetization is observed in complexes 1 and 4, while complex 3 exhibits metamagnetic behavior with a critical field of 17.5 kOe.  相似文献

The symmetrically ligated complexes 1, 2, and 3 with a (mu-oxo)bis(mu-acetato)diferric core can be one-electron oxidized electrochemically or chemically with aminyl radical cations [*NR3][SbCl6] in acetonitrile yielding complexes which contain the mixed-valent [(mu-oxo)bis(mu-acetato)iron(IV)iron(III)]3+ core: [([9]aneN3)(2FeIII2)(mu-O)(mu-CH3CO2)2](ClO4)2 (1(ClO4)2), [(Me3[9]aneN3)(2FeIII2)(mu-O)(mu-CH3CO2)2](PF6)2 (2(PF6)(2)), and [(tpb)(2FeIII2)(mu-O)(mu-CH3CO2)2] (3) where ([9]aneN3) is the neutral triamine 1,4,7-triazacyclononane and (Me3[9]aneN3) is its tris-N-methylated derivative, and (tpb)(-) is the monoanion trispyrazolylborate. The asymmetrically ligated complex [(Me3[9]aneN3)FeIII(mu-O)(mu-CH3CO2)2FeIII(tpb)](PF6) (4(PF6)) and its one-electron oxidized form [4ox]2+ have also been prepared. Finally, the known heterodinuclear species [(Me3[9]aneN3)CrIII(mu-O)(mu-CH3CO2)2Fe([9]aneN3)](PF6)2 (5(PF6)(2)) can also be one-electron oxidized yielding [5ox]3+ containing an iron(IV) ion. The structure of 4(PF6).0.5CH3CN.0.25(C2H5)2O has been determined by X-ray crystallography and that of [5ox]2+ by Fe K-edge EXAFS-spectroscopy (Fe(IV)-O(oxo): 1.69(1) A; Fe(IV)-O(carboxylato) 1.93(3) A, Fe(IV)-N 2.00(2) A) contrasting the data for 5 (Fe(III)-O(oxo) 1.80 A; Fe(III)-O(carboxylato) 2.05 A, Fe-N 2.20 A). [5ox]2+ has an St = 1/2 ground state whereas all complexes containing the mixed-valent [FeIV(mu-O)(mu-CH3CO2)2FeIII]3+ core have an St = 3/2 ground state. M?ssbauer spectra of the oxidized forms of complexes clearly show the presence of low spin FeIV ions (isomer shift approximately 0.02 mm s(-1), quadrupole splitting approximately 1.4 mm s(-1) at 80 K), whereas the high spin FeIII ion exhibits delta approximately 0.46 mm s(-1) and DeltaE(Q) approximately 0.5 mm s(-1). M?ssbauer, EPR spectral and structural parameters have been calculated by density functional theoretical methods at the BP86 and B3LYP levels. The exchange coupling constant, J, for diiron complexes with the mixed-valent FeIV-FeIII core (H = -2J S1.S2; S(1) = 5/2; S2 = 1) has been calculated to be -88 cm(-1) (intramolecular antiferromagnetic coupling) and for the reduced diferric form of -75 cm(-1) in reasonable agreement with experiment (J = -120 cm(-1)).  相似文献

Substitution of the weakly binding aqua ligand in [Cu(tren)OH2](2+) and [Cu(tpa)OH2](2+) (tren = tris(2-aminoethyl)amine; tpa = tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine) by a cyano ligand on ferricyanide results in the assembly of heteropolynuclear cations around the cyanometalate core. In water, the reduction of the Fe(III) core to Fe(II) generates complexes that feature heteropolycations in which ferrocyanide is encapsulated by the Cu(II) moieties: [(Cu(tpa)CN)6Fe][ClO4]8-3H2O 1, [(Cu(tren)CN)6Fe][ClO4]8-10H2O 2, [(Cu(tren)CN)6Fe][Fe(CN)6]2[ClO4]2-15.8H2O 3, and [(Cu(tren)CN)6Fe][(Cu(tren)CN)4Fe(CN)2][Fe(CN)6)]4-6DMSO-21H2O 4. The formation of discrete molecules, in preference to extended networks or polymeric structures, has been encouraged through the use of branched tetradentate ligands in conjunction with copper(II), a metal center with the propensity to form five-coordinate complexes. Complex 3 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c (#14) with a = 14.8674(10), b = 25.9587(10), c = 27.5617(10) A, beta = 100.8300(10) degrees, and Z = 4, and it is comprised of almost spherical heptanuclear cations, [(Cu(tren)CN)6Fe](8+), whose charge is balanced by two ferricyanide and two perchlorate counteranions. Complex 4 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 (# 1) with a = 14.8094(8), b = 17.3901(7), c = 21.1565(11) A, alpha = 110.750(3), beta = 90.206(2), gamma = 112.754(3) degrees, and Z = 1, and it is comprised of the heptanuclear [(Cu(tren)CN)6Fe](8+) cation and pentanuclear [(Cu(tren)CN)4Fe(CN)2](4+) cation, whose terminal cyano ligands are oriented trans to each other. The charge is balanced exclusively by ferricyanide counteranions. In both complexes, H-bonding interactions between hydrogens on primary amines of the tren ligand, terminal cyano groups of the ferricyanide counterions, and the solvent of crystallization generate intricate 3D H-bonding networks.  相似文献

Reactions between K[TpFe(CN)3] (Tp- = hydrotris(1-pyrazolyl)borate) and M(ClO4)2 x 6H2O (M = Co or Ni) in a mixture of acetonitrile and methanol afford, upon crystallization via THF vapor diffusion, [Tp8(H2O)12Co6Fe8(CN)24](ClO4)4.12THF x 7H2O (1) and [Tp8(H2O)12Ni6Fe8(CN)24](ClO4)4.12THF x 7H2O (2). Both compounds contain cyano-bridged clusters with a face-centered cubic geometry, wherein octahedral CoII or NiII centers are situated at the face-centering sites. The results of variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate the presence of ferromagnetic exchange coupling within both molecules to give ground states of S = 7 and 10, respectively. Low-temperature magnetization data reveal significant zero-field splitting, with the best fits for the Co6Fe8 and Ni6Fe8 clusters yielding D = -0.54 and 0.21 cm-1, respectively; ac magnetic susceptibility measurements performed on both samples showed no evidence of the slow relaxation effects associated with single-molecule magnet behavior.  相似文献

The use of 1,3,5-triaminocyclohexane (tach) as a capping ligand in generating metal-cyanide cage clusters with accessible cavities is demonstrated. The precursor complexes [(tach)M(CN)(3)] (M = Cr, Fe, Co) are synthesized by methods similar to those employed in preparing the analogous 1,4,7-triazacyclononane (tacn) complexes. Along with [(tach)Fe(CN)(3)](1)(-), the latter two species are found to adopt low-spin electron configurations. Assembly reactions between [(tach)M(CN)(3)] (M = Fe, Co) and [M'(H(2)O)(6)](2+) (M' = Ni, Co) in aqueous solution afford the clusters [(tach)(4)(H(2)O)(12)Ni(4)Co(4)(CN)(12)](8+), [(tach)(4)(H(2)O)(12)Co(8)(CN)(12)](8+), and [(tach)(4)(H(2)O)(12)Ni(4)Fe(4)(CN)(12)](8+), each possessing a cubic arrangement of eight metal ions linked through edge-spanning cyanide bridges. This geometry is stabilized by hydrogen-bonding interactions between tach and water ligands through an intervening solvate water molecule or bromide counteranion. The magnetic behavior of the Ni(4)Fe(4) cluster indicates weak ferromagnetic coupling (J = 5.5 cm(-)(1)) between the Ni(II) and Fe(III) centers, leading to an S = 6 ground state. Solutions containing [(tach)Fe(CN)(3)] and a large excess of [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) instead yield a trigonal pyramidal [(tach)(H(2)O)(15)Ni(3)Fe(CN)(3)](6+) cluster, in which even weaker ferromagnetic coupling (J = 1.2 cm(-)(1)) gives rise to an S = (7)/(2) ground state. Paralleling reactions previously performed with [(Me(3)tacn)Cr(CN)(3)], [(tach)Cr(CN)(3)] reacts with [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) in aqueous solution to produce [(tach)(8)Cr(8)Ni(6)(CN)(24)](12+), featuring a structure based on a cube of Cr(III) ions with each face centered by a square planar [Ni(CN)(4)](2)(-) unit. The metal-cyanide cage differs somewhat from that of the analogous Me(3)tacn-ligated cluster, however, in that it is distorted via compression along a body diagonal of the cube. Additionally, the compact tach capping ligands do not hinder access to the sizable interior cavity of the molecule, permitting host-guest chemistry. Mass spectrometry experiments indicate a 1:1 association of the intact cluster with tetrahydrofuran (THF) in aqueous solution, and a crystal structure shows the THF molecule to be suspended in the middle of the cluster cavity. Addition of THF to an aqueous solution containing [(tach)Co(CN)(3)] and [Cu(H(2)O)(6)](2+) templates the formation of a closely related cluster, [(tach)(8)(H(2)O)(6)Cu(6)Co(8)(CN)(24) superset THF](12+), in which paramagnetic Cu(II) ions with square pyramidal coordination are situated on the face-centering sites. Reactions intended to produce the cubic [(tach)(4)(H(2)O)(12)Co(8)(CN)(12)](8+) cluster frequently led to an isomeric two-dimensional framework, [(tach)(H(2)O)(3)Co(2)(CN)(3)](2+), exhibiting mer rather than fac stereochemistry at the [Co(H(2)O)(3)](2+) subunits. Attempts to assemble larger edge-bridged cubic clusters by reacting [(tach)Cr(CN)(3)] with [Ni(cyclam)](2+) (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) complexes instead generated extended one- or two-dimensional solids. The magnetic properties of one of these solids, two-dimensional [(tach)(2)(cyclam)(3)Ni(3)Cr(2)(CN)(6)]I(2), suggest metamagnetic behavior, with ferromagnetic intralayer coupling and weak antiferromagnetic interactions between layers.  相似文献

The treatment of Fe(ClO(4))(2)·6H(2)O or Fe(ClO(4))(3)·9H(2)O with a benzimidazolyl-rich ligand, N,N,N',N'-tetrakis[(1-methyl-2-benzimidazolyl)methyl]-1,2-ethanediamine (medtb) in alcohol/MeCN gives a mononuclear ferrous complex, [Fe(II)(medtb)](ClO(4))(2)·?CH(3)CN·?CH(3)OH (1), and four non-heme alkoxide-iron(III) complexes, [Fe(III)(OMe)(medtb)](ClO(4))(2)·H(2)O (2, alcohol = MeOH), [Fe(III)(OEt)(Hmedtb)](ClO(4))(3)·CH(3)CN (3, alcohol = EtOH), [Fe(III)(O(n)Pr)(Hmedtb)](ClO(4))(3)·(n)PrOH·2CH(3)CN (4, alcohol = n-PrOH), and [Fe(III)(O(n)Bu)(Hmedtb)](ClO(4))(3)·3CH(3)CN·H(2)O (5, alcohol = n-BuOH), respectively. The alkoxide-iron(III) complexes all show 1) a Fe(III)-OR center (R = Me, 2; Et, 3; (n)Pr, 4; (n)Bu, 5) with the Fe-O bond distances in the range of 1.781-1.816 ?, and 2) a yellow color and an intense electronic transition around 370 nm. The alkoxide-iron(III) complexes can be reduced by organic compounds with a cis,cis-1,4-diene moiety via the hydrogen atom abstraction reaction.  相似文献

Two new cyano-bridged one-dimensional heterobimetallic coordination polymers, [(bpca)(2)Fe(III)(2)(CN)(6)Cu(H(2)O)(2).1.5H(2)O](n)() (2) and [(bpca)Fe(III)(CN)(3)Cu(bpca)(H(2)O).H(2)O](n)() (3), and a trinuclear complex, [(bpca)(2)Fe(III)(2)(CN)(6)Mn(CH(3)OH)(2)(H(2)O)(2)].2H(2)O (4), have been synthesized using the tailored tricyanometalate precursor (Bu(4)N)[Fe(bpca)(CN)(3)].H(2)O (1) (Bu(4)N(+) = tetrabutylammonium cation; bpca = bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amidate anion) as a building block and structurally characterized. In complex 2, the Cu(II) ions are six-coordinated in an elongated distorted octahedral environment, and they are linked by distorted octahedrons of [Fe(bpca)(CN)(3)](-) to form 1D chain of squares. Complex 3 is an unexpected chiral heterobimetallic helical chain complex, in which the helical chain consists of the asymmetric unit of [(bpca)Fe(CN)(3)Cu(bpca)(H(2)O)]. In complex 4, there are two independent trinuclear clusters in one asymmetric unit, and the coordination modes of the two methanol and two water molecules coordinating to the central Mn(II) ion are different (cis and trans). Complex 2 shows metamagnetic behavior with a Neel temperature of T(N) = 2.2 K and a critical field of 250 Oe at 1.8 K, where the cyanides mediate the intrachain ferromagnetic coupling between the Cu(II) and Fe(III) ions. Complex 3 shows ferromagnetic coupling between Cu(II) and Fe(III) ions, the best-fit for chi(M)T versus T using a 1D alternating chain model leads to the parameters J(1) = 7.9(3) cm(-)(1), J(2) = 1.03(2) cm(-)(1), and g = 2.196(3). Complex 4 exhibits ferrimagnetic behavior caused by the noncompensation of the local interacting spins (S(Mn) = 5/2 and S(Fe) = 1/2) which interact antiferromagnetically through bridging cyano groups.  相似文献

The occurrence of a heteroatom X (C, N, or O) in the MoFe7S9X core of the iron-molybdenum cofactor of nitrogenase has encouraged synthetic attempts to prepare high-nuclearity M-Fe-S-X clusters containing such atoms. We have previously shown that reaction of the edge-bridged double cubane [(Tp)2Mo2Fe6S8(PEt3)4] (1) with nucleophiles HQ- affords the clusters [(Tp)2Mo2Fe6S8Q(QH)2](3-) (Q = S, Se) in which HQ- is a terminal ligand and Q(2-) is a mu2-bridging atom in the core. Reactions with OH- used as such or oxygen nucleophiles generated in acetonitrile from (Bu3Sn)2O or Me3SnOH and fluoride were examined. Reaction of 1 with Et4NOH in acetonitrile/water generates [(Tp)2Mo2Fe6S9(OH)2]3- (3), isolated as [(Tp)2Mo2Fe6S9(OH)(OC(=NH)Me)(H2O)](3-) and shown to have the [Mo2Fe6(mu2-S)2(mu3-S)6(mu6-S)] core topology very similar to the P(N) cluster of nitrogenase. The reaction system 1/Et4NOH in acetonitrile/methanol yields the P(N)-type cluster [(Tp)2Mo2Fe6S9(OMe)2(H2O)](3-) (5). The system 1/Me3SnOH/F- affords the oxo-bridged double P(N)-type cluster {[(Tp)2Mo2Fe6S9(mu2-O)]2}5- (7), convertible to the oxidized cluster {[(Tp)2Mo2Fe6S9(mu2-O)]2}4- (6), which is prepared independently from [(Tp)2Mo2Fe6S9F2(H2O)](3-)/(Bu3Sn)2O. In the preparations of 3-5 and 7, hydroxide liberates sulfide from 1 leading to the formation of P(N)-type clusters. Unlike reactions with HQ-, no oxygen atoms are integrated into the core structures of the products. However, the half-dimer composition [Mo2Fe6S9O] relates to the MoFe7S9 constitution of the putative native cluster with X = O. (Tp = hydrotris(pyrazolyl) borate(1-)).  相似文献

Compounds 1-4 contain the basic Fe2(CN)4Mn2 square building units, of which 1-3 show the motif of discrete molecular squares of Fe2(CN)4Mn2 and 4 possesses a 1D double-zigzag chain-like structure, while compound 5 is a 3D cubic framework analogous to that of Prussian blue. Compounds 1 and 2 show weak ferromagnetic interactions between two Mn(II) ions through the bent -NC-Fe(II)-CN- bridges. Compound 3 shows weak antiferromagnetic coupling between the Fe(III) and Mn(II) ions, while compound 4 displays a metamagnetic-like behavior with TN = 5.2 K and Hc = 10.5 kOe. Compound 5 exhibits a ferromagnetic ordering with Tc= 3.5 K, coercive field, Hc, = 330 G, and a remnant magnetization of 503 cm3 Oe mol(-1).  相似文献

The substitution of Mo(III) for Cr(III) in metal-cyanide clusters is demonstrated as an effective means of increasing the strength of the magnetic exchange coupling and introducing magnetic anisotropy. Synthesis of the octahedral complex [(Me(3)tacn)Mo(CN)(3)] (Me(3)tacn = N,N',N"-trimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane) is accomplished with the addition of precisely 3 equiv of LiCN to a solution of [(Me(3)tacn)Mo(CF(3)SO(3))(3)] in DMF. An excess of LiCN prompts formation of a seven-coordinate complex, [(Me(3)tacn)Mo(CN)(4)](1)(-), whereas less LiCN produces multinuclear species such as [(Me(3)tacn)(2)Mo(2)(CN)(5)](1+). In close parallel to reactions previously performed with [(Me(3)tacn)Cr(CN)(3)], assembly reactions between [(Me(3)tacn)Mo(CN)(3)] and [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) or [(cyclam)Ni(H(2)O)(2)](2+) (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) afford face-centered cubic [(Me(3)tacn)(8)Mo(8)Ni(6)(CN)(24)](12+) and linear [(Me(3)tacn)(2)(cyclam)NiMo(2)(CN)(6)](2+) clusters, respectively. Generation of the former involves a thermally induced cyanide linkage isomerization, which rapidly leads to a low-spin form of the cluster containing diamagnetic Ni(II) centers. The cyclic voltammagram of this species in DMF reveals a sequence of six successive reduction waves spaced approximately 130 mV apart, suggesting class II mixed-valence behavior upon reduction. The magnetic properties of the aforementioned linear cluster are consistent with the expected ferromagnetic coupling and an S = 4 ground state, but otherwise vary slightly with the specific conformation adopted (as influenced by the packing of associated counteranions and solvate molecules in the crystal). Magnetization data indicate an axial zero-field splitting parameter with a magnitude falling in the range [D] = 0.44-0.72 cm(-1), and fits to the magnetic susceptibility data yield exchange coupling constants in the range J = 17.0-17.6 cm(-1). These values represent significant increases over those displayed by the analogous Cr(III)-containing cluster. When perchlorate is used as a counteranion, [(Me(3)tacn)(2)(cyclam)NiMo(2)(CN)(6)](2+) crystallizes from water in a dimeric form with pairs of the linear clusters directly linked via hydrogen bonding. In this case, fitting the magnetic susceptibility data requires use of two coupling constants: one intramolecular with J = 14.9 cm(-1) and another intermolecular with J' = -1.9 cm(-1). Reacting [(Me(3)tacn)Mo(CN)(3)] with a large excess of [(cyclam)Ni(H(2)O)(2)](2+) produces a [(Me(3)tacn)(2)(cyclam)(3)(H(2)O)(2)Ni(3)Mo(2)(CN)(6)](6+) cluster possessing a zigzag structure that is a simple extension of the linear cluster geometry. Its magnetic behavior is consistent with weaker ferromagnetic coupling and an S = 6 ground state. Similar reactions employing an equimolar ratio of reactants afford related one-dimensional chains of formula [(Me(3)tacn)(cyclam)NiMo(CN)(3)](2+). Once again, the ensuing structure depends on the associated counteranions, and the magnetic behavior indicates ferromagnetic coupling. It is hoped that substitutions of the type exemplified here will be of utility in the design of new single-molecule magnets.  相似文献

Treatment of the mononuclear amide-appended zinc complex [(ppbpa)Zn](ClO4)2 (1(ClO4)2) with Me4NOH.5H2O in CD3CN/D2O (3:1) results in the formation of the deprotonated amide species [(ppbpa-)Zn]ClO4 (2). Upon heating in CD3CN/D2O, this complex undergoes amide hydrolysis to produce a zinc carboxylate product, [(ambpa)Zn(O2CC(CH3)3)]ClO4 (3). X-ray crystallography, 1H and 13C NMR, IR, and elemental analysis were used to characterize 3. The hydrolysis reaction of 1(ClO4)2 exhibits saturation kinetic behavior with respect to the concentration of D2O. Variable-temperature kinetic studies of the amide hydrolysis reaction yielded DeltaH++ = 18.0(5) kcal/mol and DeltaS++ = -22(2) eu. These activation parameters are compared to those of the corresponding amide methanolysis reaction of 1(ClO4)2.  相似文献

Seven new cyano-bridged heterometallic systems have been prepared by assembling [M'(rac-CTH)]n+ complexes (M' = CrIII, NiII, CuII), which have two cis available coordination positions, and [M(CN)6]3- (M = FeIII, CrIII) and [Fe(CN)2(bpy)2]+ cyanometalate building blocks. The assembled systems, which have been characterized by X-ray crystallography and magnetic investigations, are the molecular squares (meso-CTH-H2)[{Ni(rac-CTH)}2{Fe(CN)6)}2].5H2O (2) and [{Ni(rac-CTH)}2{Fe(CN)2(bpy)2}2](ClO4)4.H2O (5), the bimetallic chain [{Ni(rac-CTH)}2{Cr(CN)6)}2Ni(meso-CTH)].4H2O (3), the trimetallic chain [{Ni(rac-CTH)}2{Fe(CN)6)}2Cu(cyclam)]6H2O (4), the pentanuclear complexes [{Cu(rac-CTH}3{Fe(CN)6}2].2H2O (6) and [{Cu(rac-CTH)}3{Cr(CN)6)}2].2H2O (7), and the dinuclear complex [Cr(rac-CTH)(H2O)Fe(CN)6].2H2O (8). With the exception of 5, all compounds exhibit ferromagnetic interaction between the metal ions (JFeNi = 12.8(2) cm-1 for 2; J1FeCu= 13.8(2) cm-1 and J2FeCu= 3.9(4) cm-1 for 6; J1CrCu= 6.95(3) cm-1 and J2CrCu= 1.9(2)cm-1 for 7; JCrFe = 28.87(3) cm-1 for 8). Compound 5 exhibits the end of a transition from the high-spin to the low-spin state of the octahedral FeII ions. The bimetallic chain 3 behaves as a metamagnet with a critical field Hc = 300 G, which is associated with the occurrence of week antiferromagnetic interactions between the chains. Although the trimetallic chain 4 shows some degree of spin correlation along the chain, magnetic ordering does not occur. The sign and magnitude of the magnetic exchange interaction between CrIII and FeIII in compound 8 have been justified by DFT type calculations.  相似文献

Recent work has shown that cyanide ligation increases the redox potentials of Fe(4)S(4) clusters, enabling the isolation of [Fe(4)S(4)(CN)4]4-, the first synthetic Fe(4)S(4) cluster obtained in the all-ferrous oxidation state (Scott, T. A.; Berlinguette, C. P.; Holm, R. H.; Zhou, H.-C. Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 2005, 102, 9741). The generality of reduced cluster stabilization has been examined with MoFe(3)S(4) clusters. Reaction of single-cubane [(Tp)MoFe(3)S(4)(PEt(3))3]1+ and edge-bridged double-cubane [(Tp)2Mo(2)Fe(6)S(8)(PEt(3))4] with cyanide in acetonitrile affords [(Tp)MoFe(3)S(4)(CN)3]2- (2) and [(Tp)2Mo(2)Fe(6)S(8)(CN)4]4- (5), respectively. Reduction of 2 with KC(14)H(10) yields [(Tp)MoFe(3)S(4)(CN)3]3- (3). Clusters were isolated in approximately 70-90% yields as Et(4)N+ or Bu(4)N+ salts; clusters 3 and 5 contain all-ferrous cores, and 3 is the first [MoFe(3)S(4)]1+ cluster isolated in substance. The structures of 2 and 3 are very similar; the volume of the reduced cluster core is slightly larger (2.5%), a usual effect upon reduction of cubane-type Fe(4)S(4) and MFe(3)S(4) clusters. Redox potentials and 57Fe isomer shifts of [(Tp)MoFe(3)S(4)L3]2-,3- and [(Tp)2Mo(2)Fe(6)S(8)L(4)]4-,3- clusters with L = CN-, PhS-, halide, and PEt3 are compared. Clusters with pi-donor ligands (L = halide, PhS) exhibit larger isomer shifts and lower (more negative) redox potentials, while pi-acceptor ligands (L = CN, PEt3) induce smaller isomer shifts and higher (less-negative) redox potentials. When the potentials of 3/2 and [(Tp)MoFe(3)S(4)(SPh)3]3-/2- are compared, cyanide stabilizes 3 by 270 mV versus the reduced thiolate cluster, commensurate with the 310 mV stabilization of [Fe(4)S(4)(CN)4]4- versus [Fe(4)S(4)(SPh)4]4- where four ligands differ. These results demonstrate the efficacy of cyanide stabilization of lower cluster oxidation states. (Tp = hydrotris(pyrazolyl)borate(1-)).  相似文献

A time-resolved mass spectrometric technique has been used for the determination of rates of exchange of mu-O atoms with water for the complexes [(mes-terpy)2Mn2(III/IV)(mu-O)2(H2O)2](NO3)3 (1, mes-terpy = 4'-mesityl-2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine), [(bpy)4Mn2(III/IV)(mu-O)2](ClO4)3 (2, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine), [(phen)4Mn2(III/IV)(mu-O)2](ClO4)3 (3, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), [(bpea)2Mn2(III/IV)(mu-O)2(mu-OAc)](ClO4)2 (4, bpea = bis(2-pyridyl)ethylamine), [(bpea)2Mn2(IV/IV)(mu-O)2(mu-OAc)](ClO4)3 (4ox), [(terpy)4Mn4(IV/IV/IV/IV)(mu-O)5(H2O)2](ClO4)6 (5, terpy = 2,2':6',2'-terpyridine), and [(tacn)4Mn4(IV/IV/IV/IV)(mu-O)6]Br(3.5)(OH)0.5.6H2O (6, tacn = 1,4,7-triazacyclononane). The rate of exchange of mu-OAc bridges with free acetate in solution has been measured for complexes 4 and 4ox. These are the first measurements of rates of ligand exchange on biologically relevant high-valent Mn complexes. The data analysis method developed here is of general utility in the quantitation of isotope exchange processes by mass spectrometry. We find that the presence of labile coordination sites on Mn increases mu-O exchange rates, and that all-Mn(IV) states are more inert toward exchange than mixed Mn(III)-Mn(IV) states. The rates of mu-O exchange obtained in this work for a di-mu-oxo Mn2(III/IV) dimer with labile coordination sites are compared with the oxygen isotope incorporation rates from substrate water to evolved dioxygen measured in different S states of the oxygen evolving complex (OEC) of photosystem II (PSII). On the basis of this comparison, we propose that both substrate waters are not bound as mu-O bridges between Mn atoms in the S2 and S3 states of the OEC.  相似文献
