This paper describes the design of a series of luminescent rhenium(I) polypyridine biotin complexes containing different spacer-arms, [Re(N-N)(CO)3 (py-4-CH2-NH-biotin)](PF6) (py-4-CH2-NH-biotin = 4-(biotinamidomethyl)pyridine; N-N = 1,10-phenanthroline, phen (1a), 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, Me4-phen (2a), 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, Me2-Ph2-phen (3a), dipyrido[3,2-f:2',3'-h]quinoxaline, dpq (4a)), [Re(N-N)(CO)3 (py-3-CO-NH-en-NH-biotin)](PF6) (py-3-CO-NH-en-NH-biotin = 3-(N-((2-biotinamido)ethyl)amido)pyridine; N-N = phen (1b), Me4-phen (2b), Me2-Ph2-phen (3b), dpq (4b)), and [Re(N-N)(CO)3 (py-4-CH2-NH-cap-NH-biotin)](PF6) (py-4-CH2-NH-cap-NH-biotin = 4-(N-((6-biotinamido)hexanoyl)aminomethyl)pyridine; N-N = phen (1c), Me4-phen (2c), Me2-Ph(2)-phen (3c), dpq (4c)). Upon irradiation, all of the rhenium(I)-biotin complexes exhibited intense and long-lived triplet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (3MLCT) (d pi(Re) --> pi* (diimine)) emission in fluid solutions at 298 K. The interactions of these biotin-containing complexes with avidin have been studied by 4'-hydroxyazobenzene-2-carboxylic acid (HABA) assays, emission titrations, and competitive association and dissociation assays. On the basis of the results of these experiments, homogeneous assays for biotin and avidin have been designed.  相似文献

We present the synthesis, characterization, and photophysical properties of three luminescent rhenium(I) polypyridine fluorous complexes [Re(Me(2)bpy)(CO)(3)(L)](PF(6)) (Me(2)bpy = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine; L = 3-amino-5-(N-((3-perfluorooctyl)propyl)aminocarbonyl)pyridine (py-Rf-NH(2)) (1), 3-isothiocyanato-5-(N-((3-perfluorooctyl)propyl)aminocarbonyl)pyridine (py-Rf-NCS) (2), 3-ethylthioureidyl-5-(N-((3-perfluorooctyl)propyl)aminocarbonyl)pyridine (py-Rf-TU-C(2)H(5)) (3)). The isothiocyanate complex 2 has been used to label bovine serum albumin (BSA) and glutathione (GSH). The photophysical properties of the resultant bioconjugates have been studied. The isolation of the luminescent fluorous rhenium-GSH conjugate from a mixture of 20 amino acids has been demonstrated using fluorous solid-phase extraction (FSPE). Additionally, the cytotoxicity of complexes 1 and 3 toward HeLa cells has been examined by the 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The cellular uptake properties of complex 3 have also been investigated by laser-scanning confocal microscopy.  相似文献

New mono- and dinuclear rhenium(I) tricarbonyls, of formulas [Re(bpy)(CO)3(PCA)]+ (1), [(bpy)(CO)3Re(I)(PCA)Re(I)(CO)3(bpy)]2+ (2), and [(bpy)(CO)3Re(I)(PCA)Ru(II)(NH3)5]3+ (3) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, PCA = 4-pyridinecarboxaldehydeazine), have been synthesized as PF6- salts and characterized by spectroscopic, electrochemical, and photophysical techniques. These species do not emit at room temperature in CH(3)CN; however, in aqueous solutions, a decrease in pH induces luminescence in all of them, due to protonation of one of the N atoms of the -C=N-N=C- chain of PCA, as indicated by the pKa values of the ground states, obtained by absorption measurements, which are ca. 3 orders of magnitude lower than the pKa value of the pyridine N of PCA in complex 1. On the other hand, the values of pKa* of the excited states, obtained by emission measurements, of complexes 1 and 2 are similar (pKa* = 2.7 +/- 0.1 at I = 0.1 M) and higher than those of the corresponding ground states. At low values of pH, chemical decomposition takes place rapidly in complex 3, but not in 1 and 2, supporting the possible use of these latter species as luminescent sensors of pH. The heterodinuclear complex, of formula [(bpy)(CO)3Re(I)(PCA)Ru(III)(NH3)5]4+, was obtained by bromine oxidation of the [Re(I), Ru(II)] precursor in CH3CN solution; from spectral and electrochemical measurements, the recombination charge-transfer reaction [Re(II), Ru(II) ] --> [Re(I), Ru(III)], which occurs after photoexcitation, is predicted to lie in the Marcus inverted region.  相似文献

Two new rhenium(I) complexes chelated by a substituted 2,2′-bipyridine with general formula Re(CO)3LCl, where L?=?6?-(2″-methoxyphenyl)-2,2′-bipyridine (L1 ) and 6?-(4″-diphenylaminophenyl)-2,2′-bipyridine (L2 ), are synthesized and characterized by IR, NMR, and elemental analysis. Structure of 1 was determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, revealing that rhenium is six-coordinate octahedral. The electrochemical, photophysical, and thermal properties of the two rhenium(I) complexes were investigated. Electroluminescent devices were fabricated by doping 1 in polymer blend host of poly(vinylcarbazole) and 2-tert-butylphenyl-5-biphenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole using simple solution spin-coating technique. The device exhibits a maximum current efficiency of 2.97?cd?A?1 and peak brightness in excess of 2390?cd?m?2.  相似文献

The first Re(I)-dipyrrinato complexes are reported. Complexes with the general formulas fac-[ReL(CO)(3)Cl](-), fac-[ReL(CO)(3)PR(3)], and [ReL(CO)(2)(PR(3))(PR'(3))] have been prepared, where L is one of a series of meso-aryl dipyrrinato ligands. Access to these complexes proceeds via the reaction of [Re(CO)(5)Cl] with the dipyrrin (LH) to produce fac-[ReL(CO)(3)Cl](-). A subsequent reaction with PR(3) (R = phenyl, butyl) leads to displacement of the chloride ligand to generate fac-[ReL(CO)(3)PR(3)], and further reaction with PR'(3) leads to the displacement of the CO ligand trans to the first PR(3) ligand to give trans(P), cis(C)-[ReL(CO)(2)(PR(3))(PR'(3))]. The structures of the complexes were determined in the solid state by X-ray crystallography and in solution by (1)H NMR spectroscopy. Electronic absorption spectroscopy reveals a prominent band in the visible region at relatively low energy (472-491 nm) for all complexes, which is assigned as a π-π* transition of the dipyrrin chromophore. Weak emission (λ(ex) = 485 nm, quantum yields <0.01) was observed for [ReL(CO)(3)Cl](-) and [ReL(CO)(3)PR(3)] complexes, but no emission was generally evident from the [ReL(CO)(2)(PR(3))(PR'(3))] complexes. On the basis of the large Stokes shift (~6000 cm(-1)), the emission is ascribed to phosphorescence from a triplet excited state. The emission intensity is sensitive to dissolved oxygen and methyl viologen; a Stern-Volmer plot in the latter case gave a straight line. Photochemical ligand substitution reactions of [ReL(CO)(3)PR(3)] were induced by excitation with a 355 nm laser in acetonitrile. [ReL(CO)(2)(PR(3))(CH(3)CN)] is formed as a putative intermediate, which reacts thermally with added PR'(3) to produce [ReL(CO)(2)(PR(3))(PR'(3))] complexes.  相似文献

Abstract

Following our discovery of liquid crystals based on octahedral manganese(I), we have now extended these studies to the synthesis of what we believe to be unique examples of mesomorphic rhenium-based complexes. These complexes offer advantages over the related manganese(I) systems in that they are more thermally stable. A series of mixed-ligand 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) rhenium(I) dicarbonyl complexes that are emissive in fluid solution has been prepared, which includes a new class of the type cis-[Re(CO)2(P-P)(N-N)]+ (where P-P is a chelating diphosphine and N-N is a chelating polypyridine ligand). The four synthetic routes that have been developed rely on either reactive triflate displacement or abstraction of labile chloro ligands, followed by the use of the strong trans-labilizing effect of P donors or direct use of the trans effect of P donors. The spectroscopic, photophysical, and electrochemical properties of these new complexes systematically vary with the net donor ability of the ligands in the coordination sphere, as shown by correlations with Lever's E(L) parameters. Lifetimes and quantum yields of the bipyridine complexes encompass a broad range, 25-1147 ns and ca. 0.002-0.11, respectively.  相似文献

Many luminescent transition metal polypyridine complexes display intense and long-lived triplet charge-transfer and intraligand transition emission with a large Stokes’ shift. These properties render them promising candidates as luminescent probes for ions, DNA, peptides, proteins and other biological entities. In this review article, we have summarised recent reports on ion, molecular and biological probes derived from luminescent rhenium(I) and iridium(III) polypyridine complexes. These complexes have been appended with different recognition moieties that interact with ions and biological molecules. The recognition is reflected by a change of spectroscopic and/or photophysical properties of the probes. The use of these complexes as cellular probes and imaging reagents has also been discussed.  相似文献

fac-[M(CO)3X3]2− complexes (M=Re, X=Br; M=Tc, X=Cl) react with thiourea derivatives under formation of stable rhenium(I) and technetium(I) complexes. The composition of the products can be controlled by the steric requirements of the ligands and their ability to form chelates.The products of reactions with tetramethylthiourea, Me4tu (I), N,N-diethylthiocarbamoylbenzamidine, H2Et2tcb (II), and morpholinylthiocarbamoylbenzamidine, H2morphtcb (III), have been studied by X-ray crystallography showing that the products belong to three different structural types. A mononuclear complex of the composition fac-[Re(CO)3Br(Me4tu)2] has been isolated with tetramethylthiourea, whereas the thiocarbamoylbenzamidines deprotonate and act as N,S-chelating ligands. This results in the formation of a dimeric [Tc(CO)3(HEt2tcb-N,S)]2 complex with a central, almost square Tc2S2 unit and a monomeric compound of the composition [Tc(CO)3(Hmorphtcb-N,S)(H2morphtcb-S)]. The latter compound contains a neutral, S-bonded morpholinylthiocarbamoylbenzamidine in the unusual imine form in addition to a chelate-bonded Hmorphtcb ligand.  相似文献

Reaction of aminophosphinimine [RHN(CH(2))(2)N[double bond, length as m-dash]PPh(3)] (R = H, Et) with Re(2)(CO)(10) provided the NH-functionalized carbene rhenium complex [Re(2)(CNHCH(2)CH(2)NR)(CO)(9)] (3a, R = H, 3b, R = Et). Treatment of 3 with Br(2) provided the mono nuclear [Re(CNHCH(2)CH(2)NR)(CO)(4)Br] (1, R = H, 2, R = Et). However, NH-functionalized carbene complexes 1-3 did not undergo N-alkylation with alkyl halides to yield the N-substituted NHC complexes. The direct ligand substitution of [Re(CO)(5)Br] with a carbene donor was employed to prepare [Re(IMes(2))(CO)(4)Br] (6a, IMes(2) = 1,3-di-mesitylimidazol-2-ylidene; 6b, IMes(2) = 1,3-dimesityl-4,5-dihydroimidazol-2-ylidene). Analyses of spectroscopic and crystal data of 6a and 6b show similar corresponding data among these complexes, suggesting the saturated and unsaturated NHCs have similar bonding with Re(I) metal centers. Reduction of 6a and 6b with LiEt(3)BH yielded the corresponding hydrido complexes 7a-b [ReH(CO)(4)(IMes(2))], but not 1 and 2. Ligand substitution of 1, 6a and 6b toward 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) was investigated. Crystal structures of 1, 3a-b, 6a-b and 7b were determined for characterization and comparison.  相似文献

Four luminescent cyclometalated iridium(III) diimine complexes [Ir(N-C)2(N-N)](PF6) (HN-C = 2-(4-(N-((2-biotinamido)ethyl)aminomethyl)phenyl)pyridine, Hppy-4-CH2NHC2NH-biotin, N-N = 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, Me4-phen (1a); N-N = 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, Ph2-phen (2a); HN-C = 2-(4-(N-((6-biotinamido)hexyl)aminomethyl)phenyl)pyridine, Hppy-4-CH2NHC6NH-biotin, N-N = Me4-phen (1b); N-N = Ph2-phen (2b)), each containing two biotin units, have been synthesized and characterized. The photophysical and electrochemical properties of these complexes have been investigated. Photoexcitation of these iridium(III) diimine bis(biotin) complexes in fluid solutions at 298 K and in alcohol glass at 77 K resulted in intense and long-lived luminescence. The emission is assigned to a triplet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (3MLCT) (d pi(Ir) --> pi*(N-N)) excited state. The emissive states of complexes 1a,b are probably mixed with some 3IL (pi --> pi*) (Me4-phen) character. The interactions of these iridium(III) diimine bis(biotin) complexes with avidin have been studied by 4'-hydroxyazobenzene-2-carboxylic acid (HABA) assays and emission titrations. The potential for these complexes to act as cross-linkers for avidin has been examined by resonance-energy transfer- (RET-) based emission quenching experiments, microscopy studies using avidin-conjugated microspheres, and HPLC analysis.  相似文献

The synthesis and photophysical properties of a series of chromophore-quencher complexes are reported. They are all comprised of a luminescent rhenium(I) tricarbonyl diimine complex that is covalently attached to anthracene or phenanthrene moieties via rigid rod-like p-xylene bridges of variable lengths. Rhenium-to-anthracene energy transfer is strongly exergonic (-DeltaG0 approximately 0.9 eV) and causes very efficient rhenium MLCT luminescence quenching. By contrast, rhenium-to-phenanthrene energy transfer is only observed when complexes with sufficiently high MLCT energies are used because for these dyads, the driving force for energy transfer is low (-DeltaG0 approximately 0.1 eV). For a approximately 15 angstroms donor-acceptor distance, the rate constants of the weakly and the strongly exergonic energy transfer processes differ by more than 3 orders of magnitude.  相似文献

We report the synthesis and characterization of luminescent rhenium(I) amidodipyridoquinoxaline biotin complexes [Re(CO)3(dpqa)(L)](PF6) (dpqa = 2-(n-butylamido)dipyrido[3,2-f:2',3'-h]quinoxaline; L = 4-(biotinamidomethyl)pyridine (py-4-CH2-NH-biotin) (1), 3-(N-((2-biotinamido)ethyl)amido)pyridine (py-3-CO-NH-en-NH-biotin) (2), 4-(N-((6-biotinamido)hexanoyl)aminomethyl)pyridine (py-4-CH2-NH-cap-NH-biotin) (3)), and their biotin-free counterpart [Re(CO)3(dpqa)(py)](PF6) (py = pyridine (4)). Upon irradiation, these complexes exhibited intense triplet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (3MLCT) (dpi(Re) --> pi(dpqa)) emission in fluid solutions at 298 K and in alcohol glass at 77 K. However, the emission became much weaker in aqueous buffer, probably due to the interactions of water molecules with the amide substituent of the dpqa ligand. These properties render the complexes good candidates as luminescent probes for hydrophobic media, such as the substrate-binding sites of proteins. The avidin-binding properties of the new biotin complexes have been studied by 4'-hydroxyazobenzene-2-carboxylic acid (HABA) assays, emission titrations, and competitive association and dissociation assays. Most importantly, the complexes showed a profound increase in emission intensities upon binding to avidin. Additionally, we found that the fluorescence of anthracene was quenched by these rhenium(I) complexes, and the 3MLCT emission of the complexes was also quenched by anthracene. On the basis of these findings, new homogeneous assays for biotin using these complexes, avidin, and anthracene-labeled avidin have been designed.  相似文献

Ultrafast electronic-vibrational relaxation upon excitation of the singlet charge-transfer b (1)A' state of [Re(L)(CO) 3(bpy)] ( n ) (L = Cl, Br, I, n = 0; L = 4-Et-pyridine, n = 1+) in acetonitrile was investigated using the femtosecond fluorescence up-conversion technique with polychromatic detection. In addition, energies, characters, and molecular structures of the emitting states were calculated by TD-DFT. The luminescence is characterized by a broad fluorescence band at very short times, and evolves to the steady-state phosphorescence spectrum from the a (3)A" state at longer times. The analysis of the data allows us to identify three spectral components. The first two are characterized by decay times tau 1 = 85-150 fs and tau 2 = 340-1200 fs, depending on L, and are identified as fluorescence from the initially excited singlet state and phosphorescence from a higher triplet state (b (3)A"), respectively. The third component corresponds to the long-lived phosphorescence from the lowest a (3)A" state. In addition, it is found that the fluorescence decay time (tau 1) corresponds to the intersystem crossing (ISC) time to the two emissive triplet states. tau 2 corresponds to internal conversion among triplet states. DFT results show that ISC involves electron exchange in orthogonal, largely Re-localized, molecular orbitals, whereby the total electron momentum is conserved. Surprisingly, the measured ISC rates scale inversely with the spin-orbit coupling constant of the ligand L, but we find a clear correlation between the ISC times and the vibrational periods of the Re-L mode, suggesting that the latter may mediate the ISC in a strongly nonadiabatic regime.  相似文献

Upon photoexcitation, complexes 1 and 2 display intense and long-lived triplet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer ((3)MLCT) (dpi(Ru) --> pi*(L1 or L2)) emission in fluid solutions at 298 K and in low-temperature glass. We have studied the binding of these ruthenium(II) biotin complexes to avidin by 4'-hydroxyazobenzene-2-carboxylic acid (HABA) assays, luminescence titrations, competitive assays using native biotin, and quenching experiments using methyl viologen. Photophysical properties of organic and organometallic luminophors are closely related with their molecular packings, enabling the exploitation of stimuli-responsive functional luminescent molecules. Mechanochromic molecules, which can change their luminescence characteristics after mechanical stimulus, have received an increasing interest due to their promising applications in multifunctional sensors and molecular switches. During the past two decades, the development of gold(I) chemistry has been attracting the attention of plenty of researchers. Indeed, a variety of gold(I) complexes with fascinating photophysical behaviors have been discovered. This review focuses on the research progress in the different types of mechanoluminochromic gold(I) complexes, including mono-, bi- and multi-nuclear gold(I) systems. Their interesting luminescence behaviors of these gold(I)-containing luminogens upon mechanical stimulus and the proposed mechanisms of their observed mechanochromic luminescence are summarized systematacially. Moreover, this review will put forward an outlook about the possible opportunities and challenges in this significative scientific field.  相似文献
