We investigate and compare, over the additive white Gaussian noise channel, different options for updating the error correcting code currently used in space mission telecommand links. Besides some more consolidated proposals, using low‐density parity‐check codes, we characterize and assess the performance of alternative schemes, based on parallel turbo codes and soft‐decision decoded Bose‐Chaudhuri‐Hocquenghem (BCH) codes. The analysis considers relevant metrics like the codeword error rate, the frame error rate, and the undetected frame error rate. The considered codes include binary and non‐binary low‐density parity‐check codes, parallel turbo codes and extended BCH codes, with different decoding algorithms. The complexity of the various schemes and possible limits for their application are considered and discussed. Several numerical examples are provided. This paper presents an iterative soft-input/soft-output (SISO) decoderfor product code using optimality test and amplitude clipping. A modifiedexpression for computing the soft-output of SISO decoder is proposed.The correlation discrepancy is employed to provide an optimality teston the decision codeword. The optimality test is performed in rowand column decoding to evaluate the reliability of row and columndecision codewords. Based on the optimality test, the variable reliabilityfactor is introduced for optimization of turbo decoding. A stoppingcriterion with very little performance degradation is also designedfor turbo decoding of product codes by using the optimality test.Besides, the amplitude clipping is employed to improve the performanceof turbo product code. This paper considers the application of low‐density parity check (LDPC) error correcting codes to code division multiple access (CDMA) systems over satellite links. The adapted LDPC codes are selected from a special class of semi‐random (SR) constructions characterized by low encoder complexity, and their performance is optimized by removing short cycles from the code bipartite graphs. Relative performance comparisons with turbo product codes (TPC) for rate 1/2 and short‐to‐moderate block sizes show some advantage for SR‐LDPC, both in terms of bit error rate and complexity requirements. CDMA systems using these SR‐LDPC codes and operating over non‐linear, band‐limited satellite links are analysed and their performance is investigated for a number of signal models and codes parameters. The numerical results show that SR‐LDPC codes can offer good capacity improvements in terms of supportable number of users at a given bit error performance. 纠错性能良好的LDPC码同时具有良好的检错性能。本文介绍了LDPC码的不可检测译码错误概率上限,讨论了不可检测译码错误与码参数的关系,提出对于特定构造的LDPC码,在基于AWGN信道传输和置信传播迭代译码时,可以应用迭代过程中连续消息的密度进化来分析不可检测译码错误概率,并给出了一些短码长高码率情况下的仿真结果。  相似文献

在纠错码性能仿真中,一般是给定信噪比后,由实测的错误信息比特数与发达信息比特总数相比来估计误码率的,这种方法在大码长或者极低误码率情况下。可信程度不高。本文提出用仿真数据计算后验概率分布参数的方法来直接估计纠错误码率及其置信区间,给出了误码率的上界,由少量测试数据仍然可以获得比较可靠的误码率估计,由于这种后验估计考虑了信道特性,所以适用于任意广义信道模型。  相似文献

This paper presents a method to reduce area overhead and timing impact due to the implementation of standard single symbol correcting codes for Flash memories. It is based on a manipulation of the parity check matrix which defining the code, which allows us to minimize the matrix weight and the maximum row weight. We will then introduce an analysis of the code correction ability and efficiency. Furthermore, we will show that a minimal increase in the redundancy with respect to the standard case allows a further considerable reduction of the impact on memory access time and area overhed due to the error correction circuitry.  相似文献

A new error protection assignment scheme with applications to real-time wireless multimedia transmission is presented. The proposed scheme exploits the structure of scalable sources to ensure optimal assignment. This novel approach recasts the nonlinear optimization problem into a linear one, and then further remodels it into a discrete programming problem, thereby reducing the computational complexity dramatically. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm does not impose any requirement on the convexity of the source; i.e., it can equally be applied on a convex or nonconvex source. Results show that the described method facilitates a significant complexity reduction with respect to existing schemes, while exhibiting almost equivalent performance.  相似文献

高码率LDPC(10w.densityparity-check)码的设计一直是当前纠错编码领域的难点,尤其在短码长情况下。近年被提出的两边类型LDPC(tow—edgetypeLDPC,TET-LDPC)码在高码率情况下具有比传统LDPC码更加优秀的纠错性能。基于对TET—LDPC码结构优势的分析,文中提出一种优化设计方法,该方法通过合理选取TET.LDPC码中删余变量节点的度以及优化校验节点和变量节点的连接关系,进一步提高了该码型的性能。仿真结果显示,在AWGN信道下,文中设计的高码率短码长TET—LDPC码,不仅好于传统LDPC码,而且也好于传统的TET-LDPC码,具有更低的误码平台。  相似文献

针对LDPC(low-density parity-check)编码调制系统,提出了一种新的具有不等错误保护特性的调制方案,在一个码字内,利用不同的调制方式对于重要的比特给予较强的保护,对于次要的比特给予较弱的保护,该方案既适用于非规则LDPC码,也适用于规则LDPC码。计算机仿真结果表明,新方案的性能是传统16QAM及4QAM的折衷,当采用1/2码率时,其频带利用率与8PSK相同,但是误码率性能优于8PSK。新方案的性能优于现有文献中基于比特可靠性的调制映射方案,并采用EXIT(extrinsic information transfer)图对新方案的优异性能给出了解释。  相似文献

Low rate convolutional and turbo codes that output non‐linear cyclic (NLC) codewords of length n = 2m, m being a positive integer, are described. These codes have a very low coding rate, which makes them especially suitable for spread spectrum systems where they can be used for simultaneously achieving error correction and bandwidth expansion. Due to the cyclic properties and codeword length of the component codes, branch metrics can be efficiently computed using the fast Fourier transform (FFT), enabling simple implementation of the encoder and decoder. Among the possible NLC base codes, special attention is given to the Tomlinson, Cercas, Hughes (TCH) codes family due to their good autocorrelation properties. It is shown by simulation that the turbo codes schemes studied usually perform better than traditional turbo codes (in this paper the universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS), rate 1/3 turbo code was used as a reference). This improvement is accomplished at the cost of bandwidth expansion. One of the advantages of the presented solutions over other low rate codes is their ability to improve the synchronization process at the receiver due to the good autocorrelation properties of the available NLC codes (especially TCH codes). A comparison of performance between the UMTS uplink connection and an equivalent system using the proposed codes for a multiuser scenario in a multipath fading channel is presented showing the possibility of capacity increase when using these codes.
