A sensitive procedure was developed for determination of bismuth (Bi) in milk samples by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG-AFS) after microwave-assisted sample digestion with HNO3 and H2O2. The method provides a sensitivity of 1832 fluorescence units (ng/mL) with a detection limit of 0.01 ng/mL, which corresponds to 20 pg absolute limit of detection, equivalent to 0.50 ng/g in the original sample. Application of the methodology to cow milk samples from the Spanish market showed the presence of Bi at a concentration of 11.8-28.8 ng/g, which compared well with data obtained after dry ashing of samples and with data obtained by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry after microwave-assisted digestion.  相似文献

An existing laboratory procedure for selenium analysis using open-vessel wet digestion and liquid chromatographic fluorescence determination was modified for use with microwave digestion. The proposed microwave digestion method eliminated the hazards associated with the use of HClO4 while maintaining excellent recoveries of selenium. A 2-step HNO3/H2O2 digestion procedure was developed. Digested samples were derivatized with 2,3-diaminonaphthalene, and the resultant piazselenol complex was measured fluorometrically using a liquid chromatograph. Measured values were in agreement with 9 different certified reference materials. The detection limit for this method was 0.54 ng Se/g tissue (3 sigma), and the calibration curve remained linear (r2 = 0.9968) up to 2 microg Se/g.  相似文献

A slurry sampling hydride generation (SS-HG) method for the simultaneous determination of hydride forming elements (As, Sb, Se, Sn) and Hg, without total sample digestion, has been developed using batch mode generation system coupled with microwave induced plasma optical emission spectrometry (MIP-OES) from certified biological and environmental reference materials. Slurry concentration up to 3.6% m/v (particles < 80 μm) prepared in 10% HCl containing 100 μl of decanol, by the application of ultrasonic agitation, was used with calibration by the standard addition technique. Harsh conditions were used in the slurry preparation in order to reduce the hydride forming elements to their lower oxidation states, As(III), Sb(III), Se(IV) and Sn(II) and Hg, being reduced to mercury vapor, before reacting with sodium tetrahydroborate. An ultrasonic probe was used to homogenize the slurry in the quartz cup just before its introduction into the reaction vessel. For 10 ml of slurry sample, detection limits (LOD, 3σblank, peak area) of 0.06, 0.08, 0.15, 0.12 and 0.10 μg g− 1 were obtained for As, Sb, Se, Sn and Hg, respectively. The method offers relatively good precision (RSD ranged from 9 to 12%) for slurry analysis. To test the accuracy, three certified reference materials were analyzed with the analyte concentrations mostly in the μg g− 1 level. Measured concentrations are in satisfactory agreement with certified values for the biological reference materials: NRCC LUTS-1 (lobster hepatopancreas), NRCC DOLT-2 (Dogfish Liver) and environmental reference material: NRCC PACS-1 (Marine Sediment), all adequate for slurry sampling. The method requires small amounts of reagents and reduces contamination and losses.  相似文献

An analytical procedure for the determination of methylmercury in human hair after acid digestion using aqueous ethylation, headspace solid-phase microextraction sampling and final gas chromatography-cold-vapour atomic fluorescence spectrometry detection is described. Acid digestion, extraction procedure and chromatographic conditions were optimised. An optimal linear range using standard mercury solutions was found and concentration detection limits for the mercury species, MeHg and Hg2+, were about 50 and 80 ng/g, respectively, for 100 mg of human hair. The reproducibility of the developed analytical procedure assessed for hair samples with incurred MeHg was better than 18% (n=5). A certified reference material from the National Institute of Environmental Studies (Japan) was used for validation. Analysis of human hair collected from urban inhabitants was performed and the mean value of methylmercury content in hair samples was 0.764 +/- 0.732 microg/g for the population tested. The developed analytical method is simple, fast and a suitable procedure for the monitoring and screening of human exposure to methylmercury.  相似文献

Due to the increased demand for new reference materials certified for total and methylmercury (MeHg) a sample of mussel homogenate (IAEA-142) has been prepared. Thirteen experienced laboratories reported results for total Hg of which 9 laboratories also reported results for MeHg content. Laboratories reporting MeHg results used various isolation techniques (solvent extraction, saponification, acid leaching, ion-exchange separation, and distillation) and detection systems (cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (CV AAS), cold vapour atomic fluorescence spectrometry (CV AFS), gas chromatography with electron capture detector (GC/ECD) and HPLC with CV AAS detector). In the case of total Hg, most of the laboratories used acid digestion, only two used alkaline dissolution, followed either by CV AAS or CV AFS. One laboratory used neutron activation analyses with radiochemical separation. The data received were in good agreement. The value for total Hg was certified to be 126 ng/g, with a 95% confidence interval from 119 to 132 ng/g. For MeHg the certified value of 47 ng/g expressed as Hg was assigned, with a 95% confidence interval from 43 to 51 ng/g. Stability testing has shown that both total and MeHg are stable if samples are stored in a dry and dark place at room temperature. The sample is now available as a certified reference material and is, in particular, useful for quality control measurements of Hg and MeHg in mussel samples at low concentration levels.  相似文献

A method was standardized for the dissolution of hair samples and analysis was carried out by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). Hair samples were brought into solution by using a mixture of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide. Various parameters that influence the sample preparation, namely temperature, digestion time and ratio of acid mixture were studied and standardized. The optimized method has been employed to digest standard reference materials and hair samples of residents of India, collected from different age groups and sex, and analyzed for Fe, Co, Ni, Mn, Zn, Cu, Cd and Pb. The values agree for most of the metals with the data reported for human hair samples of residents of India. The NIES CRM Human Hair No. 5 and IAEA Reference Hair HH-1 certified reference materials were used in order to verify the accuracy of the method and the results were in excellent agreement with the certified values.  相似文献

Four microwave digestion methods of fish tissue for selenium determination by hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry were compared, in which potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) was chosen as a masking agent for eliminating matrix interferences. The results showed that the methods employing HNO(3)/H(2)O(2), HNO(3)/K(2)S(2)O(8)/H(2)O(2) and HNO(3)/H(3)PO(4)/H(2)O(2) digestion media were unreliable. However, the decomposition using the digestion media of HNO(3)/H(2)SO(4)/H(2)O(2) enabled adequate digestion of fish tissue and retention of selenium in a state amenable for determination. Therefore, the digestion procedures with HNO(3)/H(2)SO(4)/H(2)O(2) media are proposed for the determination of selenium in fish tissue by hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry. The recoveries of the spiked samples investigated ranged from 90 to 102%. The result obtained from analyzing the NIES CRM No. 6 mussel was in good agreement with the reference value (reference value: 1.5 mug/g; found: 1.45 +/- 0.05 mug/g). The limit of detection for selenium was 0.03 mug/g dry mass for a 100 mg sample. The contents of selenium in local fish species investigated ranged from 0.49 to 2.90 mug/g, and the relative standard deviation for the determination of selenium was less than 8%.  相似文献

Chemical vapor generation (CVG) coupled with non-dispersive atomic fluorescence spectrometry (NDAFS) has been widely used for determination of vapor-forming elements, but most of such works have been focused on single element analysis, and reports dealing with more than three elements simultaneous determination by CVG-NDAFS are rare. In this work, a sensitive and robust analytical procedure for the simultaneous determination of arsenic, antimony, bismuth and mercury in geological materials using vapor generation-four-channel non-dispersive atomic fluorescence spectrometry has been developed. The conditions of instrumentation and vapor generation of arsenic, antimony, bismuth and mercury were optimized. The optimized concentrations of KBH(4) and HCl required for analytes generation were 1.3% (m/v) and 20% (v/v), respectively. The interferences of coexisting ions and mutual hydride interferences were investigated carefully. One thousand milligrams per litre of Fe(3+); 500mgl(-1) of Pb(2+), Zn(2+), Mn(2+); 50mgl(-1) Cu(2+), Ni(2+), Cr(6+), Co(2+); 10mgl(-1) Ag(+) and 5mgl(-1) Au(3+) does not interfere with the determination of As, Sb, Bi and Hg. Associating a dilution of 1:250 (m/v) in the procedure of sample pretreatment, the tolerant concentrations of As, Sb, Bi and Hg in real geological materials are 2500, 1000, 250 and 5000ppm, respectively. Under optimal conditions, the detection limits for As, Sb, Bi and Hg were determined to be 0.068, 0.047, 0.037 and 0.008ngml(-1), respectively. The precisions for seven replicate determinations at the 5ngml(-1) of As, Sb, Bi and 1ngml(-1) of Hg were 0.47, 0.60, 0.97 and 0.93% (R.S.D.), respectively. Sample digestion was carried out on 500mg sample with 3ml HNO(3) and 10ml HCl, followed by addition of thiourea solution for the quantitative reduction of As(V), Sb(V) to As(III), Sb(III). The proposed method was successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of As, Sb, Bi and Hg in a series of certified geological reference materials using simple aqueous standard calibration technique. The results obtained are in good agreement with the certified values.  相似文献

Bismuth hydride gas was collected on-line and determined via a new flow injection-hydride generation collection-flame atomic absorption spectrometry system. The performance of the gas-liquid separator, hydride gas collection time, acidity of the sample solution, NaBH(4) concentration, and the effects of concomitant interferents were investigated to optimize the conditions of this new method. Interferences from concomitant elements were investigated, and recoveries of 94.7-105.3% for 10 ng mL(-1) Bi were obtained after the addition of 0.2% ascorbic acid-thiourea masking reagents. The sensitivity of this new method was one order of magnitude higher than the continuous flow-hydride generation-flame atomic absorption method with a detection limit of 0.25 ng mL(-1) and a precision of 2.3%. The method was evaluated by determining trace bismuth in standard biological reference material human hair GBW07601, and the results were consistent with the certified value. The proposed method was then employed to determine trace bismuth in ten colored gelatin samples; recoveries of 94.2-105.8% were obtained.  相似文献

A slurry sampling method for the simultaneous determination of hydride forming (As, Bi, Ge, Sb, Se, Sn) and Hg and non-hydride forming (Ca, Fe, Mg, Mn, Zn) elements, without total sample digestion has been developed using the commercial dual-mode sample introduction system (MSIS) coupled with microwave induced plasma optical emission spectrometry (MIP-OES) from biological and environmental reference materials and real samples. The main advantage of this system is its simultaneous determination of elements that form volatile vapor species and elements that do not, without any instrumental changes. Optimization of reaction, nebulization and instrumental conditions was performed to characterize the new system. Slurry concentration up to 4% m/v (particles < 100 μm) prepared in 10% HNO3 containing 100 μL of decanol, by application of ultrasonic agitation, was used with calibration by the standard addition technique. An ultrasonic probe was used to homogenize the slurry in the quartz cup just before its introduction into the reaction/nebulization system; the multimode sample introduction system (MSIS) combines the benefits of nebulization and vapor generation in a single device. Detection limits (LOD, 3σblank, peak area) of 0.07, 0.29, 0.25, 0.10, 0.12, 0.14, 0.11, 0.28, 0.42, 0.02, 0.21 and 0.34 μg g− 1 were obtained for As, Bi, Ge, Sb, Se, Sn, Hg, Ca, Fe, Mg, Mn and Zn, respectively. The relative standard deviations were ca. 10%, adequate for slurry analysis. To test the accuracy, six certified reference materials were analyzed with the analyte concentrations mostly in the μg g− 1 level. Measured concentrations are in satisfactory agreement with certified values for the biological reference materials (LUTS-1, DOLT-2) and environmental reference materials (PACS-1, GWB 07302, NIST 2710, NBS 1633b), all adequate for slurry sampling. The method was successfully applied to the determination of the elements in real samples (coal fly ash, lake sediment, sewage). The method requires small amounts of reagents and reduces contamination and losses.  相似文献

A sensitive atomic fluorescence system for the determination of mercury was optimized. The system consists of a continuous-flow mercury vapour generator coupled to a fluorescence spectrometer specific for mercury. A new gas-liquid separator was developed. A detection limit of 0.9 ng Hg 1?1 was obtained. The system was combined with a microwave oven for dissolving samples in closed Teflon PFA vessels. Accurate results were obtained for certified reference materials, and biological samples such as urine and hair were analysed.  相似文献

An on-line method capable of the separation of arsenic species was developed for the speciation of arsenite As(III), arsenate As(V), monomethylarsenic (MMA) and dimethylarsenic acid (DMA) in biological samples. The method is based on the combination of high-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC) for separation, UV photo oxidation for sample digestion and hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HGAFS) for sensitive detection. The best separation results were obtained with an anion-exchange AS11 column protected by an AG11 guard column, and gradient elution with NaH2PO4 and water as mobile phase. The on-line UV photo oxidation with 1.5% K2S2O8 in 0.2 mol L(-1) NaOH in an 8 m PTFE coil for 40 s ensures the digestion of organoarsenic compounds. Detection limits for the four species were in the range of 0.11-0.15 ng (20 microL injected). Procedures were validated by analysis of the certified reference materials GBW09103 freeze-dried human urine and the results were in good agreement with the certified values of total arsenic concentration. The method has been successfully applied to speciation studies of blood arsenic species with no need of sample pretreatment. Speciation of arsenic in blood samples collected from two patients after the ingestion of realgar-containing drug reveals slight increase of arsenite and DMA, resulting from the digestion of realgar.  相似文献

Determination of Se in biological materials was attempted by microwave-induced plasma mass spectrometry (MIP-MS). (1) Serum samples were available after 10 times dilution with 0.5% nitric acid solution containing 0.1% Triton X-100. When oxygen gas was inserted into the plasma gas (nitrogen) in order to improve the combustion, the sensitivity was reduced to 45%. The detection limit of this method was 0.5 ng/mL. (2) Standard reference materials on commercial base were used to evaluate the accuracy of the Se determination by MIP-MS after microwave digestion. In samples like bovine liver and human hair with Se concentrations of more than 0.7 μg/g, the standard curve method after internal standard (IS) correction was acceptable. This procedure was unsuitable for samples with low Se concentrations such as milk powder (certified value of Se 0.11 μg/g), or plant leaf samples. (3) Instead of IS correction, the peak height of the spectrum was used for calculations from the matrix matched calibration curve. The results of all materials were close to the certified values, even at 25 ng/g. The detection limit of the MIP-MS with microwave digestion and IS correction was 0.05 ng/mL in standard solutions. The detection limit of the peak height method was 0.1 ng/mL and was estimated to be < 20 ng/g in plant materials.  相似文献

By use of the high separation capability of capillary electrophoresis (CE) and ultrasensitive chemiluminescence (CL) detection, a CE-CL method was proposed for the ultrasensitive determination of trace cobalt in a single hair, which is potentially useful in construction of the fingerprint of trace elements in the hair collected from crime scenes. In this work, the CE experimental conditions, CL experimental conditions and the digestion methods for the analysis of a single hair sample for cobalt were investigated in detail. The relative limit of detection (LOD, 3σ) was 0.01 ng/mL, and the absolute LOD was 2.4 × 10− 16 g considering the sampling volume of 24 nL. Using a dry digestion method, the analytical results for certified reference hair samples by the proposed method were in good agreement with the certified values. Finally, this method was successfully used to detect trace cobalt in a single hair from three adults. It has potential applications in forensic analysis.  相似文献
