The extraction behaviour of thorium(IV) from aqueous nitric acid employing 3-phenyl-4-benzoyl-5-isoxazolone (HPBI) in the presence of tri-n-octyl phosphine oxide (TOPO) as well as tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) in xylene medium was investigated. The extraction constant (log k(ex)) for the binary organic phase species Th(PBI)(4) was determined to be 8.26 which is by far the largest amongst the corresponding values known for other beta-diketones. The overall extraction constant (log K) for the ternary species Th(PBI)(4) TBP and Th(PBI)(4).2TOPO were estimated to be 14.96 and 20.96 respectively. An inverse correlation of the adduct formation constant (log K(s)) with the pK(a) of the beta-diketones, 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone and HPBI, was observed. The steric as well as the electronic effects of adduct formation have been discussed. Analytical application of HPBI for the separation of (234)Th radiotracer from natural uranium (99.3% (238)U) has been suggested.  相似文献

In our publication (1), the extraction of uranium with dicyclohexano-18-crown-6 (mixed isomers) has been described. The extraction equilibrium of uranium(VI) from aqueous hydrochloric acid solution with dicyclohexano-18-crown-6 isomer A (Ia) and isomer B (Ib) in 1,2-dichloroethane is presented in this paper. The extracted species are found to be 1:2 (metal/crown) for Ia and 2:3 for Ib from slope analysis and direct determination of extracted complexes. The extraction equilibrium constants (Kex) have been determined at 25°C, and equal 29.5 for the former and 0.208 for the latter. It is concluded that Ia has stronger coordinate ability for uranium than Ib. The different orientation of the lone pairs of the oxygen atoms in both isomers will be taken into account for interpreting above results. The extraction of uranium(VI) with dicyclohexano-18-crown-6 (mixed isomers) or Ia from aqueous hydrochloric acid solution is effective and selective. In 0.1M crown ether-1,2-dichloroethane-6N HCl system, the separation factor U(VI)/Th(IV) exceeds 1000. The result can be taken in separating uranium and thorium.  相似文献

The extraction behaviour of iron(III) and titanium(IV) from acidic chloride solutions has been investigated using 3-phenyl-4-benzoyl-5-isoxazolone (HPBI) in xylene as an extractant. The results demonstrate that these metal ions are extracted into xylene as Fe(PBI)(3) and TiO(PBI)(2). The equilibrium constants of the extracted complexes have been deduced by non-linear regression analysis by taking into account complexation of metal ion with inorganic ligands in the aqueous phase and all plausible complexes extracted into the organic phase. IR and proton NMR ((1)H NMR) spectra were used to further clarify the nature of complexes extracted into organic phase. The effect of the nature of the diluent on the extraction of iron(III) and titanium(IV) has been studied and correlated with dielectric constants. The extraction behaviour of titanium(IV) has also been compared with that of other metal ions, viz. magnesium(II), vanadium(V), chromium(VI), iron(III), manganese(II), zinc(II) and zirconium(IV), which are associated with the titanium in waste chloride liquors of the titanium-mineral-processing industry.  相似文献

The complexation reactions between Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II) ions and benzo-15-crown-5, dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6, dibenzo-18-crown-6 and 1,10-diaza-18-crown-6 have been studied in dimethylsulphoxide solution at 25 degrees by means of a competitive spectrophotometric method using murexide as a metallochromic indicator. With the exception of Pb(II)(benzo-15-croqn-5)(2) the stoichiometry of the resulting complexes was found to be 1:1. The formation constants of the complexes were determined, and found to follow the Irving-Williams rule for the cations of the first transition series. It was found that the metal ion-18-crown interactions are strongly dependent on the nature of the substituents on the ring.  相似文献

Abstract

New poly- and bis(crown ether)s containing benzo-15-crown-5 or benzo-18-crown-6 moieties were synthesized as extracting reagents, and by a preliminary solvent extraction of alkali metal picrates the poly- and bis-(crown ether)s were found to extract the cations capable of forming sandwich-type 2:1 complexes more effectively than their monomeric analogs.  相似文献

The formation constants (K(ML)) in water of 1:1 complexes of benzo-18-crown-6 (B18C6) and 18-crown-6 (18C6) with Zn(2+) and Cd(2+), the sizes of which are much smaller than the ligand cavities, were determined at 25 degrees C by conductometry. Compared with Cd(2+), the crown ethers form more stable complexes with Zn(2+) although the size of Zn(2+) is less suited for the cavities. B18C6 forms a more stable complex with each metal ion than 18C6. Moreover, the extraction equilibria of these metal ions (M(2+)) with B18C6 (L) for the benzene/water system in the presence of picric acid (HA) were investigated at 25 degrees C. The association between L and HA in benzene was examined for evaluating the intrinsic extraction equilibria of M(2+) with B18C6. The extracted species were found to be MLA(2) and ML(2)A(2), and the overall extraction constants (K(ex,1) and K(ex,2), respectively) were obtained. The values of K(ex,1) for these metal ions are almost the same, but the K(ex,2) is larger for Zn(2+) than for Cd(2+). The extraction selectivity was interpreted quantitatively by the constituent equilibrium constants, i.e. K(ML), the ion-pair extraction constant of ML(2+) with A(-), and the adduct formation constant of MLA(2) with L in benzene.  相似文献

The properties of cis- and trans-bis(crown ether)s containing benzo-15-crown-5 or benzo-18-crown-6 units as complexants and extractants for alkali metal picrates have been studied. The optical spectra suggest that the cis-bis(crown ether)s can form intramolecular 2:1 crown ether unit/cation complexes with particular metal cations easily, while the trans-bis(crown ether)s can form only 1:1 crown ether unit/cation complexes because of the unfavourable trans configuration for the formation of the 2:1 complexes. It was found that the cis isomer possesses much higher extractive power than the trans isomer for the metal cations, which also reflects their complexing properties. The extraction equilibrium constants and thermodynamic quantities have been also evaluated, and the effect of the stereochemical structure of the bis(crown ether) on the complexing and extractive properties is discussed.  相似文献

Reaction of [Th(I)(NR2)3] (R = SiMe3) (2) with KECPh3 (E = O, S) affords the thorium chalcogenates, [Th(ECPh3)(NR2)3] (3, E = O; 4, E = S), in moderate yields. Reductive deprotection of the trityl group from 3 and 4 by reaction with KC8, in the presence of 18-crown-6, affords the thorium oxo complex, [K(18-crown-6)][Th(O)(NR2)3] (6), and the thorium sulphide complex, [K(18-crown-6)][Th(S)(NR2)3] (7), respectively. The natural bond orbital and quantum theory of atoms-in-molecules approaches are employed to explore the metal–ligand bonding in 6 and 7 and their uranium analogues, and in particular the relative roles of the actinide 5f and 6d orbitals.  相似文献

The solvent extraction of several lanthanide radionuclides (144Ce,147Nd,154Eu,170Tm and169Yb from aqueous picric acid solutions with (4-methylbenzo-15-crown-5) in chloroform has been investigated. The extracted species are found to be 1∶2∶3 (metal/crown/ picrate) complexes from slope analysis. The extraction equilibrium constants (Kex) have been determined at 25 °C. The order of Kex values for trivalent lanthanides is Nd3+> >Eu3+>Ce3+>Tm3+>Yb3+. This suggests that the ionic size of Nd3+ (r=0.995 Å) may be nearer to the cavity size of (4-methylbenzo-15-crown-5) than the other lanthanides. The extraction of thorium(IV) and uranium(IV, VI) by some crown ethers from nitric, hydrochloric and picric acid solutins have been studied. In nitric acid media, thorium(IV) forms a 1∶2 complex with DC18C6 or DC24C8, resembling plutonium(IV) and neptunium(IV) (identification of these reagents is given in Table 1 and Fig. 1). In hydrochloric acid media, the extraction of uranium(IV, VI) leads to a large loading and may be suitable for practical application. The far infrared spectra of the extracted complex in 1,2-dichloroethane have been examined for the UO2Cl2?DCI8C6, UO2Cl2?DC24C8, Th(NO3)4?DC18C6 and Th (NO3)4?DC24C8 systems. The spectra show the existence of direct bonding between the extracted metal ion and the oxygen donor in the ring of these crown ethers.  相似文献

Reaction of Ru3(CO)12, with 2-(2'-pyridyl)benzimidazole (HPBI) resulted in the formation of Ru(CO)3(HPBI) (I) complex. In presence of pyridine or dipyridine, the two derivatives [Ru(CO)3(HPBI)].Py (II) and [Ru(CO)3(HPBI)].dpy (III) were isolated. The corresponding reactions of Os3(CO)12 yielded only one single product; Os(CO)2(HPBI)2 (IV). Spectroscopic studies of these complexes revealed intramolecular metal to ligand CT interactions. Reactions of RuCl3 with HPBI gave three distinct products; [Ru(HPBI)2Cl2]Cl (V), [Ru(HPBI)(dipy)Cl2]C1 (VI) and [Ru(PBI)2(py)2]Cl (VII). The UV-vis studies indicated the presence of intramolecular ligand to metal CT interactions. Electrochemical investigation of the complexes showed some irreversible, reversible and quasi-reversible redox reactions due to tautomeric interconversions through electron transfer.  相似文献

Summary Solvent extraction of alkaline earth metal picrates with poly- and bis(crown ether)s containing benzo-15-crown-5- and benzo-18-crown-6 moieties was carried out in a water-chloroform system. The poly- and bis(crown ether)s showed larger extractability for the metal picrates than the corresponding monocyclic crown ethers. Especially, poly- and bis(benzo-15-crown-5), and bis(benzo-18-crown-6) were found to have relatively high extractability and selectivity for Ba2+ and Sr2+, respectively.

The complexation of uranium(VI) and samarium(III) with oxydiacetate (ODA) in 1.05 mol kg(-1) NaClO(4) is studied at variable temperatures (25-70 degrees C). Three U(VI)/ODA complexes (UO(2)L, UO(2)L(2)(2-), and UO(2)HL(2)(-)) and three Sm(III)/ODA complexes (SmL(j)((3-2)(j)+) with j = 1, 2, 3) are identified in this temperature range. The formation constants and the molar enthalpies of complexation are determined by potentiometry and calorimetry. The complexation of uranium(VI) and samarium(III) with oxydiacetate becomes more endothermic at higher temperatures. However, the complexes become stronger due to increasingly more positive entropy of complexation at higher temperatures that exceeds the increase in the enthalpy of complexation. The values of the heat capacity of complexation (Delta C(p) degrees in J K(-1) mol(-1)) are 95 +/- 6, 297 +/- 14, and 162 +/- 19 for UO(2)L, UO(2)L(2)(2-), and UO(2)HL(2)(-), and 142 +/- 6, 198 +/- 14, and 157 +/- 19 for SmL(+), SmL(2)(-), and SmL(3)(3-), respectively. The thermodynamic parameters, in conjunction with the structural information from spectroscopy, help to identify the coordination modes in the uranium oxydiacetate complexes. The effect of temperature on the thermodynamics of the complexation is discussed in terms of the electrostatic model and the change in the solvent structure.  相似文献

The extraction behaviour of La(III), Ce(III), Eu(III), Th(IV) and U(VI) with 3-phenyl-4- benzoyl-5-isoxazolone (HPBI) in chloroform has been studied. The mechanism of extraction and the species extracted have been identified. Extraction constants for each system have been calculated. The system has been used to separate Th(IV) from U(VI) and from La(III), Ce(III) and Eu(III). A comparison of the extraction constants with those for the 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone (HPMBP) and thenoyltrifluoroacetone (HTTA) systems indicates that HPBI extracts these metal species better than HPMBP and HTTA do.  相似文献

Abstract

Complexation constants of Pb2+ and Cd2+ nitrates with five crown compounds (18-crown-6, dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6, benzo-15-crown-5, dibenzo-24-crown-8 and 12-crown-4), have been determined by d.c. and a.c. polarographic measurements in aqueous medium using 0.1 M HNO3 as supporting electrolyte. The complexes of lead with 18-crown-6 and dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 are very stable which may be attributed to the partially covalent bonds formed by this metal ion.  相似文献

The complexation reactions between the macrocyclic polyethers dibenzo-18-crown-6, benzo-18-crown-6, benzo-15-crown-5 and polyethers bearing a stilbene unit with alkali metal and silver cations have been studied conductometrically in nitromethane. The formation constants of 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 (metal : ligand) complexes were determined and found to decrease with increasing cation diameter. The stability of the stilbene crown – metal cation complexes is lower than for complexes of other investigated crown ethers with analogous cations. There seem to be some effects of double bond-silver ion interactions.  相似文献

A differential pulse voltammetric study of complexes of Cd(II) and Pb(II) with crown ethers is reported. Measured log K(1) values for Cd(II) with 18-crown-6 (1,4,7,10,13,16-hexaoxacyclooctadecane), 15-crown-5 (1,4,7,10,13-pentaoxacyclopentadecane), and 12-crown-4 (1,4,7,10-tetraoxacyclododecane) are respectively 2.53 (+/-0.06), 1.97 (+/-0.07), and 1.72 (+/-0.08) and for Pb(II) with 18-crown-6 is 4.17 (+/-0.03), all at 25 degrees C in 0.1 M LiNO(3). Cd(II) is smaller than is usually associated with strong bonding with crown ethers. The high log K(1) values for Cd(2+) with crown ethers found here are discussed in terms of distortion of Cd(II) by relativistic effects. The resulting plasticity of the coordination geometry of the Cd(II) ion allows it to meet the metal ion size requirements of all the crown ethers, allowing high log K(1) values to occur. Crystal structures for [Cd(bz-18-crown-6)(SCN)(2)] (1) (bz-18-crown-6 = benzo-1,4,7,10,13,16-hexaoxacyclooctadecane) and [K(18-crown-6)][Cd(SCN)(3)] (2) are reported. 1 was triclinic, space group P1, a = 8.5413(2), b = 10.0389(2), and c = 13.4644(2) A, alpha = 94.424(1), beta = 102.286(1), and gamma = 93.236(1) degrees, Z = 2, and final R = 0.023. 2 was orthorhombic, space group Cmc2(1), a = 14.7309(3), b = 15.1647(3), and c = 10.6154(2) A, Z = 4, and final R = 0.020. In 1, the Cd occupies the cavity of the bz-18-crown-6 with long average Cd-O bond lengths of 2.65 A and is N-bonded to the thiocyanates with short average Cd-N bonds of 2.12 A. In [Cd(bz-18-crown-6)(SCN)(2)], the linear coordination involving the Cd and the two N-bonded thiocyanate groups in 1 is discussed in terms of the role of relativistic effects in the tendency to linear coordination geometry in group 12 metal ions. In 2 Cd forms a polymeric structure involving thiocyanate bridges between Cd atoms and K(+) occupies the cavity of the crown ether. 2 highlights the fact that cadmium is almost never S-bonded to thiocyanate except in bridging thiocyanates.  相似文献

The formation of uranyl-peroxide complexes was studied at alkaline media by using UV-Visible spectrophotometry and the STAR code. Two different complexes were found at a H(2)O(2)/U(VI) ratio lower than 2. A graphical method was used in order to obtain the formation constants of such complexes and the STAR program was used to refine the formation constants values because of its capacity to treat multiwavelength absorbance data and refining equilibrium constants. The values obtained for the two complexes identified were: UO(2)(2+) + H(2)O(2) + 4OH(-) UO(2)(O(2))(OH)(2)(2-) + 2H(2)O: log β°(1,1,4) = 28.1 ± 0.1 (1). UO(2)(2+) + 2H(2)O(2) + 6OH(-) UO(2)(O(2))(2)(OH)(2)(4-) + 4H(2)O: log β°(1,2,6) = 36.8 ± 0.2 (2). At hydrogen peroxide concentrations higher than 10(-5) mol dm(-3), and in the absence of carbonate, the UO(2)(O(2))(2)(OH)(2)(4-) complex is predominant in solution, indicating the significant peroxide affinity of peroxide ions for uranium and the strong complexes of uranium(VI) with peroxide.  相似文献
