It is shown that the equilibrium states of Cauchy stress which can exist, in the absence of body force, in every incompressible, homogeneous, isotropic, elastic solid whose deviatoric stress range allows them, must have uniform deviatoric stress invariants. A differential scheme is developed to approximate the elastic behaviour of randomly cracked solids, accounting for possible locally nonhomogeneous distribution of the cracks. Certain inclusion or matrix spaces within the solids are modelled as forbidden regions for the cracks. At small to intermediate values of the crack density and proportion of forbidden regions, the effective elastic moduli of the models do not differ much from each other, but the differences become profound at higher values of those parameters: the effective moduli can be very small and large (toward those of the uncracked solids) depending upon the particular nonhomogeneous arrangements of the cracks.  相似文献

A general theory of finite deformation of soft ferromagnetic elastic solids is formulated following the linear theory developed earlier by Pao and Yeh. The constitutive equations, field equations, and the boundary conditions of this theory are applied to analyse the buckling of a plate under the action of a uniform magnetic field. A nontrivial equilibrium configuration for the deformed plate is shown to exist, and the critical value of the externally applied magnetic induction at which the plate buckles is determined. It is demonstrated that the non-linear deformation affects the critical magnetic induction considerably.  相似文献

基于经典的安定理论与随动强化模型的一般性质,将结构在强化过程中的背应力计入Von Mises屈服准则,建立了随动强化条件下结构的静力安定定理;将背应力与对应的塑性应变率的点积在一个载荷循环内的积分计入塑性耗散功,建立了随动强化条件下结构的机动安定定理,扩展了经典安定理论的应用范围。针对两种定理的存在格式进行了理论证明,并以推论形式给出了结构在随动强化条件下静力安定和机动安定另外两种存在格式。结果表明,随动强化材料的安定状态和安定极限不受强化过程的影响,只取决于材料的初始屈服应力和最终屈服应力。  相似文献

A three-dimensional inverse problem for inhomogeneities in elastic solids   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The Newtonian potential is used to solve an inverse problem in which we seek the shape of an inhomogeneity in an infinite elastic matrix under uniform applied stresses at infinity such that certain stress components are uniform on the boundary of the inhomogeneity. It is shown that ellipsoids furnish the solution of this inverse problem. Exact and general expressions for the stress and displacement are given explicitly for points in the elastic matrix outside the inhomogeneity. The solution of the corresponding plane deformation problem is found as a limiting case. Several applications are presented, and results from the literature are confirmed as special cases.  相似文献

The non-singular and bounded terms for the stresses near the crack tip are investigated. This paper deals with the multiple crack problem for an infinite plate. The original problem is decomposed into three elementary subproblems: (1) the problem for remote uniform stress filed without cracks; (2) the single crack problem with traction applied along the crack face and (3) the problem for the influence of the other cracks. Several examples for collinear and non-collinear cracks are discussed and the results are shown.  相似文献

In this article, we present a new constitutive model for studying ultrasonic third harmonic generation in elastic solids. The model is hyperelastic in nature with two parameters characterizing the linear elastic material response and two other parameters characterizing the nonlinear response. The limiting response of the model as the nonlinearity parameters tend to zero is shown to be the well-known St Venant–Kirchhoff model. Also, the symmetric response of the model in tension and compression and its role in third harmonic generation is shown. Numerical simulations are carried out to study third harmonic generation in materials characterized by the proposed constitutive model. Predicted third harmonic guided wave generation reveals an increasing third harmonic content with increasing nonlinearity. On the other hand, the second harmonics are independent of the nonlinearity parameters and are generated due to the geometric nonlinearity. The feasibility of determining the nonlinearity parameters from third harmonic measurements is qualitatively discussed.  相似文献

The present paper studies the strong ellipticity for all crystal classes of tetragonal system in a linearly elastic material. Explicit conditions characterizing the strong ellipticity of the elasticity tensor are established for the tetragonal system with six elasticities (that is tetragonal–scalenohedral, ditetragonal–pyramidal, tetragonal–trapezohedral, ditetragonal–dipyramidal crystal classes) as well as for the tetragonal system with seven elasticities (tetragonal–disphenoidal, tetragonal–pyramidal and tetragonal–dipyramidal crystal classes).  相似文献

In this paper, a nonlinear theory of nonlocal asymmetric, elastic solids is developed on the basis of basic theories of nonlocal continuum fieM theory and nonlinear continuum mechanics. It perfects and expands the nonlocal elastic fiteld theory developed by Eringen and others. The linear theory of nonlocal asymmetric elasticity developed in [1] expands to the finite deformation, We show that there is the nonlocal body moment in the nonlocal elastic solids. The noniocal body moment causes the stress asymmetric and itself is caused by the covalent bond formed by the reaction between atoms. The theory developed in this paper is applied to explain reasonably that curves of dispersion relation of one-dimensional plane longitudinal waves are not similar with those of transverse waves.  相似文献

Summary Making reference to elastic perfectly plastic solids subjected to cyclic loads, the problem of the shakedown load factor is considered and the relevant Euler-Lagrange equations are discussed. It is proved that the solution to these equations describes the gradient, with respect to the load multiplier, of the steady-state response of the solid body to the cyclic loads at the shakedown limit, and that it thus enables one to predict the nature of the impending collapse. These results are then extended to the more general case of loads varying within a given load domain.

Summary The thermodynamic theory of shock waves in incompressible elastic solids is reviewed, and the Hugoniot relation and the propagation condition for the shock speed are derived. Expanding the equations, for weak shock waves, in powers of the shock strength some well-known results of gasdynamics are generalized to the dynamics of shock waves in incompressible elastic media.
Zusammenfassung Die thermodynamische Theorie der Stoßwellen in inkompressiblen elastischen Körpern wird zusammenfassend dargestellt, die Hugoniot-Relation und die Ausbreitungsbedingung für die Stoßgeschwindigkeit werden abgeleitet. Durch Reihenentwicklung nach Potenzen der Stoßstärke werden für schwache Stoßwellen einige bekannte Ergebnisse der Gasdynamik für die Dynamik der Stoßwellen in inkompressiblen elastischen Medien verallgemeinert.

Based on a continuum model for oriented elastic solids the set of nonlinear dispersive equations derived in Part I of this work allows one to investigate the nonlinear wave propagation of the soliton type. The equations govern the coupled rotation-displacement motions in connection with the linear elastic behavior and large-amplitude rotations of the director field. In the one-dimensional version of the equations and for two simple configurations an exhaustive study of solitons is presented. We show that the transverse and/or longitudinal elastic displacements are coupled to the rotational motion so that solitons, jointly in the rotation of the director and the elastic deformations, are exhibited. These solitons are solutions of a system of linear wave equations for the elastic displacements which are nonlinearly coupled to a sine-Gordon equation for the rotational motion. For each configuration, the solutions are numerically illustrated and the energy of the solitions is calculated. Finally, some applications of the continuum model and the related nonlinear dynamics to several physical situations are given and additional more complex problems are also evoked by way of conclusion.  相似文献
