A concise method is developed to show the following in one dimension: (a) If there is a sharp metal-insulator transition in an ideal sinusoidal incommensurate structure then WV = 2. (b) There is an infinite dc conductivity of electrons in an ideal incommensurate structure for T = 0 if WV < 2. (c) Addition of impurities which scatter between all pairs of k values may lead to a finite conductivity for WV < 2. (It tends to zero as L → ∞). The concept of duality used by Aubry is then extended to the general problem of localization and the breakdown of extended states is illustrated.  相似文献

We explore bursty multiscale energy dissipation from earthquakes flanked by latitudes 29° S and 35.5° S, and longitudes 69.501° W and 73.944° W (in the Chilean central zone). Our work compares the predictions of a theory of nonequilibrium phase transitions with nonstandard statistical signatures of earthquake complex scaling behaviors. For temporal scales less than 84 hours, time development of earthquake radiated energy activity follows an algebraic arrangement consistent with estimates from the theory of nonequilibrium phase transitions. There are no characteristic scales for probability distributions of sizes and lifetimes of the activity bursts in the scaling region. The power-law exponents describing the probability distributions suggest that the main energy dissipation takes place due to largest bursts of activity, such as major earthquakes, as opposed to smaller activations which contribute less significantly though they have greater relative occurrence. The results obtained provide statistical evidence that earthquake energy dissipation mechanisms are essentially “scale-free”, displaying statistical and dynamical self-similarity. Our results provide some evidence that earthquake radiated energy and directed percolation belong to a similar universality class.  相似文献

A semiquantitative correlation between experimental observations and theoretical prediction in electron microscopy is achieved. Experiments conducted on amorphous silicon in the convergent beam electron diffraction mode provide measurements of the reduction of the central-disk intensity. In addition to elastic scattering the effects of multiple inelastic scattering of the probe electrons were incorporated into the theory describing beam propagation through the specimen. With incorporation of the dominant plasmon scattering a better than 10% match of the theory with experiment is observed indicating the critical role of multiple inelastic scattering in quantitative electron diffraction and imaging.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigated the electronic structures and defect states of SrLaMgTaO6 (SLMTO) double perovskite structures by using resonant inelastic x-ray scattering. Recently, Eu3+ doped SLMTO red phosphors have been vigorously investigated due to their higher red emission efficiency compared to commercial white light emitting diodes (W-LED). However, a comprehensive understanding on the electronic structures and defect states of host SLMTO compounds, which are specifically related to the W-LED and photoluminescence (PL), is far from complete. Here, we found that the PL spectra of SLMTO powder compounds sintered at a higher temperature, 1400 °C, were weaker in the blue emission regions (at around 400 nm) and became enhanced in near infrared (NIR) regions compared to those sintered at 1200 °C. To elucidate the difference of the PL spectra, we performed resonant inelastic x-ray spectroscopy (RIXS) at Ta L-edge. Our RIXS result implies that the microscopic origin of different PL spectra is not relevant to the Ta-related defects and oxygen vacancies.  相似文献

The theoretical derivation of the formula for calculating heat load, given in the treatise titled “The Theory of Heat and Mass Transfer” (edited by A.I. Leont’ev, Bauman State Technical University, Moscow, 1997) is noted to be incorrect. A corrected deduction of the formula, performed using the dimensional method, is considered. A brief review of the whole problem is given. It is noted that the “second crisis of boiling” is due to the effect of the “spheroidal” state in liquids.  相似文献

The resonance Raman scattering of light in MBE-grown structures with ZnSe nanowires (10–20 nm in diameter) with an Au film deposited on the substrate used as a catalyst was investigated. The thicknesses of the Au layers were 2, 10, and 100 Å. The photon energy of the He-Cd pump laser (λ = 441.6 nm) was in excess of the band gap of bulk ZnSe, and the measurements were conducted at room temperature. Under these conditions, the Raman spectra are defined by a cascade process in which the electron interacting with a longitudinal optical phonon transfers between real band states with a certain probability of radiative recombination at each step. The blue shift of the luminescence maximum associated with the quantum confinement of carriers in the nanowire has been observed. The average nanowire diameter derived from the magnitude of this shift agrees well with electron microscopy measurements.  相似文献

The data on the excitation functions of24Mg+28Si elastic and inelastic (2+ ?0+, 2+ ?2+, 4+ ?0+ and 4+ ?2+) scattering fromE c.m.=48.97 to 57.21 MeV have been subjected to a statistical analysis consisting of the calculations of deviation function, cross-correlation function, summed excitation function, cross-channel correlation coefficients, coherence widths, and the distribution of cross sections. Based on the outcome of the analysis resonant structures atE c.m.=49.23, 50.02, 50.51, 52.10, 52.53, 53.27 and 54.14 MeV have been confirmed and three new structures of the same nature have been identified atE c.m.=51.42, 54.88 and 55.60 MeV.  相似文献

We experimentally show that computing with attractors leads to fast adaptive behavior in which dynamical associations can be made between different inputs which initially produce sharply distinct outputs. We do so by first defining a set of simple local procedures which allow a computing array to change its state in time so as to produce classical Pavlovian conditioning. We then examine the dynamics of coalescence and dissociation of attractors with a number of quantitative experiments. We also show how such arrays exhibit generalization and differentiation of inputs in their behavior.  相似文献

Unitarity in the s-channel is invoked to derive an upper bound for the inelastic diffractive cross-section as a function of impact parameter. Piezo-electrical properties of structures containing ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ dielectric layers with charge stored on the interfaces are described in the paper. The piezo-activation process of structures containing layers with gas voids by partial discharges is described. The influence of the mechanical properties of the ‘soft’ layer on the piezoelectric parameter d33 value and its dependence on the static pressure p are also discussed. It was found experimentally, that for the fibrous type of ‘soft’ dielectric layer, the dependence of the piezoelectric parameter d33 (p) can be described by the function d33 ÷ p?n, where n ≤ 1.  相似文献

Corrections to the primitive semi-classical amplitude for multiple inelastic scattering are obtained from a path integral formulation of scattering theory. The path integrals are calculated by making an expansion about a classical orbit describing elastic scattering. Terms are collected to give a series in inverse powers of the reduced mass m of relative motion of the target and projectile. The leading term is the primitive semi-classical amplitude for multiple excitation and explicit formulae are given for the corrections of order 1m. These are calculated in detail for a one-dimensional model. It is shown that some, but not all, of the corrections can be included by evaluating the primitive amplitude with a symmetrized orbit.  相似文献

Due to transport phenomena in the interaction region, the dynamical variables in deep inelastic collision do not have sharp values at the end of the interaction. In the present model, they are considered as random variables with Gaussian probabilities centered on the classical results, while the Coulomb dynamics outside the interaction domain is treated exactly. Very simple formulas are obtained for multiple-differential cross-sections. Numerical results applied to the “quasi-fission” products of the reaction84Kr(525 MeV)+209Bi agree fairly well with experimental data.  相似文献

The interference between Coulomb excitation and nuclear excitation has been observed for 54, 56Fe, 60Ni, 114Cd, 152Sm, and 192Os by measuring excitation functions of elastic and inelastic deuteron scattering at back angles. The interference is strongly constructive, indicating a predominantly imaginary nuclear form factor. DWBA calculations using the collective model, although predicting constructive interference, are unable to predict the magnitude of the observed effect.  相似文献

A brief history of the theory, some early efforts and recent demonstrations are discussed in reference [1]. Previous efforts have been restricted to elastic critical strength prediction.
