The generation of standard reference frequencies close to the ITU channels is essential for the calibration and maintenance of DWDM systems. This work describes a method to synthesize frequency references in the range from 187.1 to 205.1 THz (1462-1602 nm). The method is based on the generation of four equispaced frequencies (by the process of four-wave mixing in a semiconductor amplifier) of which two are locked to absorption lines of the acetylene 12C2H2 (1511-1542 nm).  相似文献

Four wave mixing analysis is stated for quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifiers (QD SOAs) using the propagation equations (including nonlinear propagation contribution) coupled with the QD rate equations under the saturation assumption. Long wavelength III-nitride InN and AIInN QD SOAs are simulated. Asymmetric behavior due to linewidth enhancement factor is assigned. P-doping increases efficiency. Lossless efficiency for InAlN QDs for longer radii is obtained. Carrier heating is shown to have a considerable effect and a detuning dependence is expected at most cases. InN QD SOAs shown to have higher efficiency.  相似文献

The design and modeling of a quantum cascade optical amplifier (QCOA) using intra-cavity non-linear interactions to achieve wavelength conversion is proposed. The model is based on the nonlinear equation coupled with Maxwell wave equations for different emission modes. In the proposed structure, four wave mixing (FWM) output exhibits a peak as a function of pump and probe frequency if they are tuned to the energy levels of the QC structure subbands. Results demonstrate that the FWM output signal power significantly depends on how subbands are engineered and interact with optical pulses which propagate in multi layer medium. In addition, we show that by adjusting pump and probe signal frequencies, FWM output power can be tuned.  相似文献

A novel frequency encoded all optical half adder, half subtractor and full adder are proposed. The implementation is ultrafast one and the frequency encoding makes it intensity loss dependent problem free. The use of polarization insensitive four-wave mixing makes the design polarization independent and the hardware simple. The frequency conversion by the reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers (RSOA) makes the design faster compared to other semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA) based design.  相似文献

A scheme of format conversion from optical 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (16QAM) to quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) signal based on cascaded four-wave mixing (FWM) in semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) is proposed. Theoretical analysis and simulations of the format conversion scheme are conducted to validate the feasibility of the proposal. In this proposal, the phase conjugated of 16QAM signal is generated after the first FWM process in an SOA, and then the QPSK signal is converted due to the second non-degenerate FWM (ND-FWM) process in another SOA. The performance and the optimal design of the 10 Gbit/s format conversion system under various key parameters of SOAs are evaluated and discussed. Simulation results present useful to enable interconnection between backbone network and access network.  相似文献

We firstly analyze the thermal dissipation effects of the entangled photons generated by a nonlinear optical ring resonator. To obtain the corresponding equation of motion of the entangled photons generated by a four-wave mixing process within the system, we propose the Markov approximation to repel the reservoir operators. The system master equation in the interaction picture for both degenerate and non-degenerate cases is analyzed and obtained. The established system can be used to characterize the optimum entangled photons in some cases where the thermal dissipation effects may be introduced noise into the system. In this work, the entangled photons can be generated into two forms, firstly, the two entangled photon states is generated, the other, the four entangled photon states can be easily obtained. Results obtained have shown that the optimum entangled photon in term of entangled photon visibility can be compensated (i.e. unchanged) under thermal dissipation effects.  相似文献

We demonstrate broadband second harmonic generation of low-energy pulses produced by injecting two single-frequency lasers into a highly nonlinear fiber. Full nonlinear conversion of the corresponding spectra, consisting of broadband (∼200 nm) optical frequency combs at ∼1580 nm, were obtained by using conventional birefringence phase-matching in two BIBO crystals (2-mm and 100-μm long) with a normal incidence configuration. The crystals were not tilted and the pulses were not compressed. This broadband conversion results from the large phase-matching bandwidth of the nonlinear BIBO crystals at ∼1550 nm, but also seems to be a consequence of a fundamental comb with small spectral phase variation.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel configuration of a wavelength converter is set forth by utilizing a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) as a nonlinear gain medium to generate a four-wave mixing (FWM) effect by using a dual wavelength bi-erbium-doped fiber laser that uses an Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG) together with two optical channel selector (OSC) as selective elements to function as a dual wavelength switchable pump power. The four-wave mixing (FWM) is produced with a wavelength detuning of 7 nm from the pump and signal which used is as the converted signal at wavelength 1532.8 nm or 1534.5 nm for transferring data from the input signal at wavelength 1547.0 nm. Thus, even though the conversion efficiency is as low as −43 dB, it is still possible for applications as a wavelength converter.  相似文献

All optical encryption decryption method using frequency encoding is proposed based on semiconductor optical amplifiers. The plain text and key are encoded in frequency encoding format i.e. the states of information ‘0’ and ‘1’ are represented by two different frequencies in the c-band. The ultra fast speed of operation of the devices used for the implementation of this system makes it very attractive for future all optical secure communication network. A simple method of conversion of frequency encoded data stream and intensity encoded data stream is also described, which enables us to use same technology of production and detection of intensity encoded data signals until new techniques based on frequency encoding comes out.  相似文献

To reduce four-wave mixing (FWM) noises in long-haul frequency-division-multiplexing optical fiber transmission systems, quaternary bit-phase arranged return-to-zero (Q-BARZ) is proposed as a modulation format, and FWM noises are analyzed by considering pulse overlapping in both time and frequency regions. It is found that FWM noises with channel frequencies are drastically reduced in Q-BARZ.  相似文献

All optical logic gates exploiting polarization independent four wave mixing in semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA), filtering property of ADD/DROP multiplexer (ADM) and non-linearity in reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) have been proposed. The logic gates proposed are polarization independent which ensures hardware simplicity and greater speed. The all optical frequency encoded logic gates NOT, OR, NOR, AND, NAND, X-OR, X-NOR are implemented which are very useful in optical computing ad signal processing, cryptography, etc. The logic gates proposed have the advantages that there is no intensity loss dependent problem, and are polarization and temperature insensitive.  相似文献

Cascaded fiber geometry with the dispersion of each fiber decreasing is proposed to enhance the multiple four-wave mixing(FWM) generation. The first fiber with relatively large dispersion initiates and accelerates the expansion of multiple FWM, and the second fiber with small dispersion would allow the phase-matching process(thus the spectrum broadening)to keep going. Numerical and experimental results show that with this geometry not only multiple FWM expansion can be accelerated, but also the efficiency of multiple FWM products can be effectively improved with shorter fibers.  相似文献

Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) can both significantly enhance transmission capacity and provide more flexibility in optical network design. Through the use of erbium-doped fibre amplifiers (EDFAs), it is possible to build long-distance transparent optical transmission links without electrical regenerators. In such systems, fibre nonlinearities are likely to impose a transmission limit due to increased total interaction length. There are a number of optical nonlinear effects in optical fibres, such as stimulated Raman scattering (SRS), stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS), carrier-induced phase modulation and four-wave mixing (FWM). Out of these SRS and FWM are the dominant effects. In this paper, an algorithm has been suggested to study the effect of FWM in the total system noise considering the combined effect of SRS and FWM in the presence of amplified spontaneous noise (ASE). It has been found from the study that to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio of the transmitted signal in a WDM system FWM noise needs to be reduced as this is the dominant noise factor.  相似文献

通过对布里渊增强四波混频(BEFWM)瞬态耦合波方程的数值求解,描述了共轭输出光的时域调制行为.同时,对能量耦合过程中起决定性作用的声学波的时空演化特征进行了模拟与分析,由此给出BEFWM时域特性物理机理的解释.研究表明,共轭光输出强度的波动与介质内声波场的分布和起伏相关联,共轭光波形调制现象的强弱取决于介质声子寿命、信号及抽运光强度、有效作用长度等诸多参数.  相似文献

By pumping CH3F with a high pressure tunable TE-CO2 laser, the resonant four-wave mixing process (RFWM) generates a very efficient tunable single line FIR emission at the Raman frequency. This result is strictly related to the spectroscopic structure of the CH3F molecule. By means of this process, a tunable FIR emission on a 0.1 cm–1 bandwidth 150 kW (8 mJ) single line, is obtained which can be used for many FIR multiphoton applications.  相似文献

We report a method for optimizing the amplification of femtosecond optical pulses by using dispersion management. The amount of dispersion provided to the seed optical pulse of an erbium-doped fiber (EBF) has an optimal region that enhances the output power of an amplifier. The power enhancement is accompanied by spectral broadening, which originates from adiabatic narrowing in the erbium-doped fiber. The amplified optical pulses can be used to generate an octave-spanning optical frequency comb (OFC) by employing a highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF).  相似文献

双模纠缠态是量子信息领域一种重要的量子资源,本文基于四波混频过程从理论上提出了对双模纠缠态的单个模式(单模放大方案)和对双模纠缠态的两个模式(双模放大方案)的放大.利用光学分束器模型来模拟在光学传输过程中损耗引入的真空场噪声,利用部分转置正定判据分析了两种不同的放大方案中四波混频过程的增益对初始双模纠缠态的纠缠程度的影响.结果表明,在特定的损耗情况下,两个方案中初始双模纠缠态的纠缠度都随增益的增大而减小,直至消失,且双模放大方案中初始双模纠缠态纠缠消失得比单模放大方案中更快.本文的理论结果为实验上实现基于四波混频过程的双模纠缠态的放大奠定了理论基础.  相似文献

Four-wave mixing process with a large group index difference of the signal and idler pulses in a nonlinear optical fiber is theoretically investigated when the pump is continuous light. We prove that in the four-wave mixing process, the signal and idler waves would finally propagate in a common group velocity in spite of their different group indices. When the effective phase mismatch in four-wave mixing is not zero, their carrier frequencies shift in different directions. The asymptotic result of the signal and idler shape and carrier frequency shift are obtained. The theoretical prediction is validated by the numerical simulation.  相似文献

The idler is separated from the co-propagating pump in a degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) with a symmetrical parametric loop mirror (PALM), which is composed of two identical SOAs and a 70 m highly-nonlinear photonic crystal fiber (HN-PCF). The signal and pump are coupled into the symmetrical PALM from different ports, respectively. After the DFWM based wavelength conversion (WC) in the clockwise and anticlockwise, the idler exits from the signal port, while the pump outputs from its input port. Therefore, the pump is effectively suppressed in the idler channel without a high-speed tunable filter. Contrast to a traditional PALM, the DFWM based conversion efficiency is increased greatly, and the functions of the amplification and the WC are integrated in the smart SOA and HN-PCF PALM.  相似文献
