We have demonstrated an adjustable double-clad Yb3+-doped fiber laser using a double-pass Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The laser is adjustable over a range of 40 nm from 1064 nm to 1104 nm. By adjusting the state of the polarization controller, which is placed in the double-pass Mach-Zehnder interferometer, we obtained central lasing wavelengths that can be accurately tuned with controllable spacing between different tunable wavelengths. The laser has a side mode suppression ratio of 42 dB, the 3 dB spectral width is less than 0.2 nm, and the slope efficiencies at 1068 nm, 1082 nm and 1098 nm are 23%, 32% and 26%, respectively. In addition, we have experimentally observed tunable multi-wavelengths lasing output.  相似文献

应用单级偏振无关的准共线型声光可调谐滤波器为调谐元件,实现了环形腔掺铒光纤激光器的连续可调谐激光输出.简要阐述了与偏振无关的准共线型声光可调谐滤波器的工作原理,对其频移补偿原理进行了分析.实验研究得到:当抽运功率为13mW时,中心波长为1550nm的激光输出功率为322μW,阈值抽运功率在7.65mW左右,斜率效率约为6.02%;并获得了38nm带宽(1524.7—1562.4nm)的连续可调谐激光输出.  相似文献

提出一种简单的理论模型,并通过数值模拟详细研究了可调谐光纤环形腔激光器的输出特性随掺铒光纤长度、输出耦合比、抽运功率、腔内损耗等参量的变化关系.理论分析得到,通过参量优化可以实现在铒离子增益范围内超过130nm带宽(1500—1630nm)的激光输出.实验获得了100nm带宽(15185—16185nm)的可调谐激光输出,激光器输出功率高,信噪比在大部分可调范围内高于60dB,实验结果与理论分析符合得较好 关键词: 掺铒光纤 光纤环形腔激光器 可调谐 光纤珐布里珀罗滤波器  相似文献

Based on rate equations, a theoretical model of a fiber oscillator with a multimode gain fiber was built. We studied the effect of the rare earth doping profile in the core on the output characteristics of the multimode fiber oscillator. The results indicated that a pure fundamental mode can be obtained by partly doping the core of the large mode area (LMA) ytterbium doped fiber (YDF) in the fiber laser. Furthermore, a sole specific high-order mode can also be implemented by tailoring the rare earth doping profile according to the simulations. The mode coupling effect was also taken into account in the model. In spite of the mode coupling effect, the specific mode was able to dominate in the output of the fiber laser by utilizing the designed LMA YDF.  相似文献

We propose and experimentally investigate a stable and tunable dual-wavelength erbium-doped fiber (EDF) dual-ring laser scheme. Here, two tunable bandpass filters (TBFs) are used inside the dual-ring gain cavity to generate dual-wavelength lasing. And, due to the gain competition of the EDF gain cavity, the mode-spacing (Δλs) of lasing dual-wavelength will be limited at different operating wavelengths. Hence, the minimum and maximum mode-spacing in the proposed EDF laser scheme are 0.75 and 15.35 nm in C-band range. Besides, the output performances of proposed fiber laser have also been studied and analyzed.  相似文献

A tunable and switchable multi-wavelength Erbium-doped photonic crystal fiber ring laser incorporating a length of single-mode highly nonlinear photonic crystal fiber is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. Stable dual-wavelength and triple-wavelength operations at room temperature are achieved by employing the highly nonlinear photonic crystal fiber to induce four-wave mixing effect and a polarization controller to vary the polarization states of propagation lights in the laser cavity. The laser cavity is free from any wavelength selection components. The laser obtains maximal 30 dB signal-to-noise ratio and the peak power fluctuations of lasing lines are less than 1.39 dB.  相似文献

采用主振荡功率放大的方式,研制成功集宽带波长连续可调谐、带宽内输出功率谱均衡、高重复频率和高功率性能于一体的超短脉冲包层抽运铒镱共掺光纤激光器.将优化主振荡器和功率放大器的腔结构与掺铒光纤的饱和增益特性结合起来,实现了1535nm—1570nm(35nm带宽)的输出功率均衡的波长连续可调谐激光输出,在带宽内激光功率的最大波动仅为0.5dBm;带宽内平均输出功率大于2W、脉冲重复频率大于10GHz、脉冲宽度小于30ps.该激光器具有综合性能指标先进、结构简单、全光纤化、使用方便等优点. 关键词: 光纤激光器 包层抽运 短脉冲 高重复频率  相似文献

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a stable dual-wavelength erbium-doped polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber laser with tunable wavelength spacing using an all-PM linear cavity that makes use of two reflection peaks from the PM fiber Bragg grating (PM-FBG). Experimental results show stable dual lasing lines with a wavelength separation of ∼0.22 nm and a large optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) of over 40 dB under room temperature. By applying axial strain to the PM-FBG, the center wavelengths of the two lasing lines can be tuned over several nanometers and the wavelength separation between the lasing lines can also be tuned to as small as 0.05 nm, which, to our knowledge, is the smallest wavelength spacing ever obtained from a stable room-temperature dual-wavelength fiber laser. The proposed laser configuration has the advantages of simple structure, low loss, stable dual-wavelength operation and a very small lasing linewidth of ∼5 kHz . A stable and narrow wavelength spacing multiwavelength erbium-doped fiber laser is proposed and demonstrated. The laser can produce simultaneous dual- and triple-wavelength lasing oscillations with a narrow wavelength spacing of less than 0.1 nm via using a single fiber Bragg gratings written in polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber. By adjusting polarization controller, the wavelength spacing of dual-wavelength lasing oscillations can be tuned to as small as 0.032 nm. The maximum amplitude variation for every lasing wavelength is less than 0.5 dB. The room-temperature operation principle is based on the polarization hole burning and deeply saturated effect in an ordinary erbium-doped fiber ring laser (EDFRL). The laser has the advantages of simple all-fiber configuration, low cost, high stability and operating at room temperature.  相似文献

高功率单频激光在激光雷达、光谱学、精密测量等领域具有广阔的应用前景.采用中心波长为1064 nm、光谱线宽为20 kHz、偏振消光比(PER)高于20 dB的单频线偏振分布式反馈光纤激光器做种子源(尾纤输出功率约为10 mW),利用种子注入主振荡功率光纤放大技术,通过两级级联放大实现了128 W高功率单频、线偏振、近衍射极限单模连续激光输出.主放大器光-光效率达到83%,PER高于12 dB.采用分段温控技术有效地提高了光纤中的受激布里渊散射(SBS)阈值,实验中未观察到明显的放大自发辐射和SBS现象,进 关键词: 掺Yb光纤放大器 主振荡功率光纤放大 单频 线偏振  相似文献

Multi-wavelength Ytterbium-doped fiber laser (YDFL) is demonstrated using a longitudinal mode interference assisted by a four-wave mixing (FWM) effect in a ring laser cavity. The gain medium is a 16 m long of the fabricated (Ytterbium-doped fiber) YDF, which has a core composition of 0.8 wt % of Yb2O3, 1.8 wt % of Al2O3 and 23 wt % of GeO2, Ytterbium ion fluorescence lifetime of 1.1 ms and absorption of 9.0 dB/m at the pump wavelength of 976 nm. 20 m long photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is used to provide FWM effect so that the energy of different oscillating lines can be redistributed to improve multi-wavelength operation. The proposed laser generates 12 lines of optical comb with a line spacing of approximately 0.59 nm at 1035 nm region.  相似文献

An efficient Ytterbium-doped fiber laser (YDFL) operating at 1028 nm is demonstrated using a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The Ytterbium-doped fiber (YDF) is drawn from Yb2O3-doped preform, fabricated through deposition of porous layer of composition SiO2-GeO2 by the MCVD process in conjunction with a solution doping technique. The fabricated YDF has a 0.1 mol % of Yb2O3 in the core, a Ytterbium ion lifetime of 1.1 ms, an absorption of 7.65 dB/m at 976 nm. The fiber laser has the maximum efficiency of 51% with pump power threshold of 19 mW using a FBG in conjunction with a Fresnel reflection to form a linear cavity resonator. The efficiency and threshold are better compared to the similar YDFL configuration using a commercial YDF.  相似文献

A tunable multiwavelength erbium-doped fiber laser is proposed and experimentally studied. The intensity-dependent loss (IDL) in a nonlinear optical loop mirror is utilized for stable multiwavelength lasing output. The accurate switch operation, i.e., the lasing lines emerge/disappear one by one at the longer wavelength side of the initial one, is achieved by adjusting the intra-cavity loss using a variable attenuator. The effect of the intra-cavity loss on the lasing characteristics is theoretically analyzed. Numerical results confirm the experiment measurements and suggest that both the IDL and the gain spectrum, which vary with the intra-cavity loss, lead to the observed tunable lasing behavior.  相似文献

A simple and robust method to generate a dual-wavelength mode-locked laser using a tunable Mach-Zehnder filter (TMZF) and a single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) based saturable absorber (SA) is proposed and demonstrated. The proposed laser uses a thulium-doped fiber for lasing in the two-micron region and exploits the interferometric spectrum of the TMZF to produce dual peaks with nearly equal magnitude. SWCNT based SA enables mode-locking at a threshold value of 150.4?mW with distinct dual-wavelength peaks at 1919.2?nm and 1963.7?nm. The peaks have a calculated pulse width of 1.8?ps and 1.6?ps, respectively with a repetition rate of 9.1?MHz with a relatively high optical-signal-to-noise ratio value of 59.1?dB. The output is also observed to remain unchanged over time, indicating high stability. The proposed laser has a promising application, particularly in ultrafast gas molecular spectroscopy and sensing.  相似文献

The fabricated YDF has a core composition of 0.2 wt % of Yb2O3, 1.8 wt % of Al2O3 and 23 wt % of GeO2 with a pump absorption of 9.0 dB/m. A switchable multi-wavelength erbium-doped fiber (EDF) ring laser based on cascaded polarization maintaining fiber Bragg gratings (PMFBGs) in a Sagnac loop interferometer as the wavelength-selective filter at room temperature is proposed. Due to the polarization hole burning (PHB) enhanced by the PMFBGs, stable single-, dual-, three- and four-wavelength lasing operations can be obtained. The laser can be switched among the stable single-, dual-, three- and four-wavelength lasing operations by adjusting the polarization controllers (PCs). A novel configuration of the tunable fiber laser with uniform wavelength spacing in dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) application is proposed. The ring type tunable fiber laser consists of an all-fiber comb filter which determines the wavelength spacing, and a piece of adjustable fiber grating to select the discrete lasing wavelength for WDM application. The proposed all-fiber ring type tunable laser has potential application in the DWDM and other optical systems due to its advantages such as narrow linewidth, easy tuning, uniform wavelength interval, etc..  相似文献

A multiwavelength fiber ring laser that is based on an S-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is developed. An optical switch is used to switch the multiwavelength fiber laser between S-band and L-band. This fiber laser can stably lase seven wavelengths in the S-band or 28 wavelengths in the L-band. Additionally, the lasing wavelengths with a signal-to-noise ratio of over 33 dB and a wavelength spacing of 100 GHz are demonstrated experimentally. The average powers of the lasing wavelength in the S-band and the L-band are −7.53 and −12.15 dBm, respectively.  相似文献

A stable and tunable linear polarization single longitudinal mode fiber ring laser is proposed and demonstrated. A high extinction ratio spatial mode interference filter utilizing two-mode graded-index fiber supresses irregular side modes effectively, the combination of fiber polarizer and polarization maintaining fiber act as a polarization dependent comb filter, and tunable bandpass filter is adopted to select proper lasing wavelength. The power fluctuation and wavelength fluctuation at 1549.88 nm are less than 0.05 dB and 0.02 nm in 1 h, respectively. Only one longitudinal mode appears within a free spectral range of 7.5 GHz, and the degree of polarization in percentage is approximately as high as 99.07%.  相似文献

Medium-power, single-mode, single-wavelength fiber laser working at room temperature using a polarization-maintaining erbium-ytterbium co-doped fiber as the gain medium, and an un-pumped elliptical core erbium-doped fiber as a saturable absorber to reduce linewidth and mode hopping of the lasing wavelength is reported. The effects of length, erbium ion concentration, and polarization-maintaining property of the saturable absorber were explored. The output power of the laser was more than 100 mW and the lasing line was stable for more than 3 h with an intensity fluctuation of less than 0.2 dB. The laser linewidth (FWHM = Full width at half maximum) was 7.5 MHz and the signal to noise ratio was more than 50 dB. The output of the laser was measured using an optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) of resolution 1.25 GHz and a scanning Fabry-Perot spectrum analyzer (SFPSA) of resolution 6.7 MHz.  相似文献
