A metallic sub-wavelength grating with slits filled with dielectric was proposed to achieve broadband and enhanced Extraordinary Optical Transmission (EOT) for Transverse Electric (TE) wave. The physical mechanism for the improvements of the transmission spectrum was also revealed. It was found that the Fabry–Perot cavity resonance in the grating slits was the cause of the enhancement of the EOT and the waveguide modes theory was the fundamental mechanism for the broadened bandwidth of the transmission.  相似文献

A multilayer planar structure comprising a highly reflective multilayer dielectric mirror and a corrugated waveguide is proposed for use as a narrow passband optical filter. The proposed filter has a much narrower linewidth than a usual Fabry–Perot cavity with two multilayer dielectric mirrors. It is shown that the narrowing of the linewidth is due to the strong spectral dependence of the phase of the wave reflected from the waveguide grating mirror. The shape of the pass band can be made symmetrical by a proper choice of the grating groove profile.  相似文献

The method of parameter optimization of combined structures, which consist of a dielectric grating and a metallic or multilayer dielectric mirror, was proposed. It is based on the use of the waveguide properties of the combined diffraction grating. Its main advantage lies in the possibility of determining the optimum parameters of the combined grating without solving the diffraction problem.  相似文献

阵列波导光栅(AWG)器件是波分复用(WDM)系统的一种关键器件,其中,聚合物阵列波导光栅由于其制备工艺、器件集成等方面的优势而受到人们的日益关注。侧壁散射损耗是聚合物阵列波导光栅损耗的一个主要因素,减少阵列波导光栅波导的侧壁损耗对制备低损耗阵列波导光栅具有重要意义。一种蒸气回溶技术被用来有效地减少硅基聚合物阵列波导光栅的散射损耗,该技术的机理是饱和溶剂分子融入并软化波导侧壁,增加其流动性,从而降低波导侧壁粗糙度。用扫描电镜方法验证了用该技术能获得更光滑的波导侧壁。对直波导和阵列波导光栅样品进行回溶处理,测试后得到直波导的侧壁散射损耗减少2.1 dB/cm,阵列波导光栅中心信道和周边信道的插入损耗分别减少5.5 dB和6.7 dB,串扰减少2.5 dB。  相似文献

Based on the rigorous coupled-wave analysis algorithm, we have systematically analysed the effect of the geometrical parameters of a dielectric film coated metallic grating with subwavelength slits on extraordinary optical transmission for s-polarization illumination. Results show that the dielectric film which sustains a waveguide electromagnetic mode on the top of the metallic lamellar grating can strongly enhance the transmittance, the positions of the transmission peaks are mainly determined by the period of the metallic grating, the thickness and refractive index of the dielectric film. This structure shows potential applications in excellent polarizers or polarization-isotropic devices at infrared spectral range by appropriately choosing the geometrical parameters.  相似文献

An athermal metal-free planar waveguide concave grating demultiplexer is proposed. We designed the dielectric mirror at the grating facet instead of coating with the metal on the back wall of the grating facet. The transfer-matrix method is introduced to design the dielectric mirror and the reflectance spectral responses of the 2D waveguide structure are simulated using the FDTD software (RSoft, Inc.). To reduce the temperature sensitivity of the device, the three-focal-point method is introduced. We use the design example to show the high-reflectance bandwidth of the dielectric mirror. The fabrication errors are also taken into consideration. By using the numerical model of the scalar diffraction theory, the flat-top spectral responses of the channels are simulated.  相似文献

Guided-mode resonance in a diffraction band of multilayer dielectric gratings may lead to a catastrophic result in laser system, especially in the ultrashort pulse laser system, so the inhibition of guided-mode resonance is very important. In this paper the characteristics of guided-mode resonance in multilayer dielectric grating are studied with the aim of better understanding the physical process of guided-mode resonance and designing a broadband multilayer dielectric grating with no guided-mode resonance. By employing waveguide theory, all guided-wave modes appearing in multilayer dielectric grating are found, and the incident conditions, separately, corresponding to each guided-wave mode are also obtained. The electric field enhancement in multilayer dielectric grating is shown obviously. Furthermore, from the detailed analyses on the guided-mode resonance conditions, it is found that the reduction of grating period would effectively avoid the appearing of guided-mode resonance. And the expressions for calculating maximum periods, which ensure that no guided-mode resonance occurs in the requiring broad angle or wavelength range, are first reported. The above results calculated by waveguide theory and Fourier mode method are compared wit each other, and they are coincident completely. Moreover, the method that relies on waveguide theory is more helpful for understanding the guided-mode resonance excited process and analyzing how each parameter affects the characteristic of guided-mode resonance. Therefore, the effects of multilayer dielectric grating parameters, such as period, fill factor, thickness of grating layer, {\it et al.}, on the guided-mode resonance characteristic are discussed in detail based on waveguide theory, and some meaningful results are obtained.  相似文献

The operation of a novel device – a waveguide surface plasmon resonance sensor with a UV-written Bragg grating – is theoretically analysed using two methods. In the simple perturbation approach, the metal/dielectric layer system supporting the resonance excitation of the surface plasma wave is considered to be a perturbation of the original dielectric waveguide with Bragg grating that is analysed using a coupled-mode theory. The second approach consists of the rigorous method of bi-directional mode expansion and propagation using the Floquet mode formalism developed recently for the analysis of waveguide grating structures. The results of both approaches are mutually compared, and the operation characteristics of this novel sensing device are briefly described.  相似文献

To investigate light coupling between a long range surface plasmon polariton (LRSPP) waveguide and a conventional integrated optical component, a hybrid vertical directional coupler consisting of a LRSPP waveguides and a dielectric waveguide is investigated and fabricated. In the proposed coupler the dielectric waveguide and LRSPP waveguide are vertically configured for dense integration and strong coupling. The characteristics of the even and odd super-modes of the coupler are also analyzed to design the device. The fabricated device exhibits damped sinusoidal behavior along the coupling length due to propagation loss of the LRSPP waveguide. The maximum power transfer of 86% from the LRSPP waveguide to the dielectric waveguide is achieved at the coupling length of 600 μm. The measured characteristics of the device are in relatively good agreement with a theoretical analysis.  相似文献

This paper treats theoretically the coupling losses which arise in square dielectric waveguide CO2 lasers when one element of the optical resonator is a diffraction grating. These losses are due to imperfect coupling of the radiation which is launched from the end of the guide to the grating and returned from the grating back to the guide. The results of the calculations show that the coupling efficiency is a sensitive function of radiation wavelength. This result is then used to investigate the ability of a 150 lines/mm diffraction grating to resolve adjacent rotational-vibrational transitions in the CO2 emission. It is shown that “line-hopping” places a limitation on the maximum tunability which can be obtained and is a result of the poor discrimination at the grating surface especially in the case of waveguide lasers having much reduced apertures. Computations based on the scaling laws are employed to maximise the tunability as a function of waveguide aperture taking into account limitations imposed by “line-hopping”, cut-off and the optical resonator frequency offset condition of c/4L. Comparisons are made between theory and experiment, and design guidelines for the construction of widely tunable CO2 waveguide lasers are presented graphically.  相似文献

从平板波导的本征值方程出发,导出弱调制介质光栅共振位置的表达式,其预测结果与利用严格的耦合波理论所得值一致.对正入射时导模共振产生双反射峰现象进行解释,并就导模共振对入射角和光栅周期敏感性的成因进行了探讨.从薄膜的特征矩阵方程出发,在理论上分析了利用导模共振获得性能良好的反射滤光片的途径.  相似文献

通过棱镜耦合激发非对称金属包覆介质波导结构中的TE0导波模式, 利用两束TE0模的干涉从理论上实现了周期可调的亚波长光栅刻写. 分析了TE0模式的色散关系, 刻写亚波长光栅的周期与激发光源、棱镜折射率、光刻胶薄膜厚度及折射率之间的关系. 用有限元方法数值模拟了金属薄膜、光刻胶薄膜和空气多层结构中TE0导模的干涉场分布. 研究发现, 激发光源波长越短, TE0 模干涉刻写的亚波长光栅周期越小; 光刻胶越厚, 刻写的亚波长光栅周期越小; 高折射率光刻胶有利于更小周期亚波长光栅的刻写. 相较于表面等离子体干涉光刻, 基于TE0 模的干涉可在厚光刻胶条件下通过改变激发光源、棱镜折射率、光刻胶材料折射率、特别是光刻胶薄膜的厚度等多种方式实现对亚波长光栅周期的有效调控.  相似文献

为探究Bragg光栅结构对TM模反馈特性的影响,利用有限时域差分法对具有TM模的分布反馈(DFB)量子级联激光器Bragg光栅结构进行仿真研究。重点分析了侧向耦合光栅的光学特性以及光栅侧壁倾角对光栅反射谱、损耗的影响及原因,并探究了光栅刻蚀深度及占空比与TM模的耦合系数、损耗的关系。结果表明有效折射率是影响Bragg波长的主要因素,而光限制因子是不同周期的侧向耦合光栅结构耦合系数产生巨大差别的原因,当光栅侧壁倾角90°时镜面损耗最小。光栅周期、占空比、刻蚀深度与耦合系数的关系表明:这些参数不仅影响光栅的相对介电常数,也会对光限制因子产生作用,从而影响耦合系数的大小;耦合系数与刻蚀深度具有正比关系,大周期光栅耦合系数随占空比的变化率较小。对光栅光反馈特性的理论研究有利于提升对DFB量子级联激光器的认识,促进激光器性能的提升和发展。  相似文献

A new type of partial-dielectric-loaded rectangular waveguide grating slow-wave structure (SWS) for millimeter wave traveling wave tube (TWT) is presented in this paper. The radio-frequency characteristics including the dispersion properties, the longitudinal electric field distribution and the beam-wave coupling impedance of this structure are analyzed. The results show that the dispersion of the rectangular waveguide grating circuit is weakened, the phase velocity is reduced and the position of the maximum E z is basically invariant after partially filling the dielectric materials in the rectangular waveguide grating SWS. Although the coupling impedance decreases a little, it still keeps above 40 Ω.  相似文献

A novel hybrid long-range surface plasmon waveguide structure comprising a narrow metal stripe, two relative low-index dielectric regions and dielectric ridges is proposed and analyzed. With the dielectric ridges and the two relative low-index dielectric regions symmetrically distributed on both sides of the narrow metal stripe, a symmetric hybrid long range mode with low electromagnetic transmission loss and subwavelength scale confinement is achieved. By optimizing the parameters, the propagation length of the proposed waveguide is increased to over two times to that of the conventional symmetric dielectric loaded surface plasmon waveguide, but the mode size only increases about 20%. For this benefit, the hybrid long-range surface plasmons waveguide is a good candidate for realizing high density photonic integration circuits.  相似文献

Circular dichroism (CD) has shown very interesting possibilities as a means to characterize the chiral signal of a chiral structure. Here, we theoretically demonstrated enhanced and tunable CD in the visible light regime using a composite structure consisting of a double-layer metal grating gaped by a dielectric waveguide layer. Based on the coupling of the waveguide modes and the localized plasmonic resonances, the CD could reach a maximum value as high as 0.52 at 635 nm, which is four times higher than the CD value obtained in a conventional double-layer grating without the waveguide coupling effect. Furthermore, the spectral positions of the enhanced CD bands could be easily tuned by controlling the structural parameters. The proposed hybrid double-grating and waveguide structures could have potential applications in chiral selective imaging, sensing and spectroscopy, especially where the transmission measurement is required.  相似文献

针对硅基光波导与单模光纤在光耦合过程中存在耦合效率低,对准难度大的问题,提出了一种新型基于绝缘体上硅(SOI)结构的纳米光栅耦合器。运用有限时域差分法探究了纳米光栅耦合器的结构特性,结合光纤准直器的准直原理,系统分析了纳米光栅耦合器的结构模型。研究了入射光波长、入射角度、光栅占空比等因素对光栅耦合效率的影响,得出了基本纳米光栅耦合器的最佳结构参数;在基本耦合光栅结构的基础上进行了改进,增加了后反射器、增透膜和底层介质膜,并运用Optiwave OptiFDTD 8.0软件优化了各部分结构的设计参数,得到了优化的耦合光栅结构。纳米光栅耦合器的耦合效率提高至59.37%,3dB带宽达到65nm。  相似文献

We propose a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) based on coupled dielectric pillars. It is composed of single-row pillar coupled waveguide modulating arms and three-row pillar waveguide 3 dB couplers. The slow light property and transmission loss of the single-row pillar modulating arm are optimized by the plane wave expansion method. A short 3dB coupler is designed based on the modes transformation in three-row pillar waveguide. Finite difference time domain simulations prove the validity of this MZI and show that it has low insertion loss of 1.1 dB and high extinction ratio of 〉 12 dB.  相似文献

金(Au)亚波长光栅被溅射到经典硅基液晶(LCoS)的ITO电极上,它与薄液晶盒和底层铝电极组成复合共振波导结构,简称GLCoS。与基于液晶传播效应的LCoS截然不同,在GLCoS中,上电极的表面等离激元与光栅槽中的TM-FP (TM-Fabry Pérot)共振耦合,诱导一个0阶反射的相位调制;铝(Al)电极既是反射背板又与Au光栅、薄液晶盒组成波导,使共振耦合得到增强。在操控光波阵面的同时,GLCoS也作为电控器件,施加电压改变液晶的折射率,进而控制开腔FP的边缘介质条件,达到有源0~2π相位调制。实验结果表明,本文结构可用于1μm量级像素的相位空间光调制器,在高空间带宽积的全息视频显示中具有广阔的应用前景。  相似文献

In this paper, an experimental study of air-core dielectric tube waveguide is proposed at terahertz frequencies. By using the THz time domain measure system, the terahertz dispersion characteristics, loss characteristic and energy focusing characteristic of air-core single-layer and dual-layer dielectric tube are obtained. The results show that this type of air-core dielectric tube can realize low dispersion characteristics. Due to the difference of refractive index between two dielectric materials, stronger energy focusing can be achieved in air-core dual-layer dielectric tube. After the coupling of the THz pulse using the dual-layer dielectric tube waveguide, the THz pulse increased 2.4 times compared with the single-layer dielectric tube waveguide at 1.5 THz.  相似文献
