The modal characteristics of planar waveguides with photonic band gap guiding properties are studied. It is demonstrated that a slight deviation from the periodicity in the photonic band gap multilayers can result in multimode transmission within the guiding layer. Possible applications of the results for avoiding single mode regime destruction due to fabrication process imperfection, as well as for designing such waveguides for conventional and emerging new applications of multimode photonic devices, are pointed out. 相似文献

利用传输矩阵法研究了含特异材料的一维超导光子晶体的带隙特性. 研究表明, 这类超导光子晶体同样具有由传统的电介质材料构成的超导光子晶体一样的低频带隙, 且在一定的参数下该低频带隙可以相当宽. 但在一定的结构参数下, 这类超导光子晶体同完全由传统的电介质构成的光子晶体一样不存在低频带隙. 还就超导光子晶体的偏振特性、光子晶体结构参数及环境温度的变化对光子带隙结构的影响进行了研究.

作为一维光子晶体的应用基础,一维光子晶体的禁带是研究的重点。通过传输矩阵的方法分析了一维光子晶体禁带的特性,讨论了影响带宽的因素。说明了相对带宽对光子晶体设计的重要性。在这个基础上讨论了扩展一维光子晶体带宽的方法,提出了在角域范围内对光子晶体进行叠加的方法,为设计制造一维光子晶体提供了一种行之有效的方法。分别对2个、3个和4个晶体的叠加进行了分析,最后计算了所设计的合成晶体的反射率。其中4个晶体的叠加,相对带宽达到57.52%,极大地展宽了一维光子晶体的禁带,从而证明利用角域的叠加来展宽一维光子晶体的禁带是非常有效的。 相似文献

This paper has theoretically studied the characteristic frequencies
of band structures in two-dimensional metallic-dielectric photonic
crystals. It is demonstrated that a large filling fraction benefits
the existence of absolute photonic band gap, while a smaller filling
fraction benefits an absolute negative refraction band. In addition,
it also finds that the relation between the cut-off frequency of
E-polarized wave and the filling fraction exceeding 10{\%} is content
with a linear increasing function, whose coefficients are exponential
to the normalized lattice constant. These investigations have
significant implications for tuning the operational frequencies to
desired applications and manufacturing photonic crystals. 相似文献

设计了一种三角形复式晶格结构的光子晶体,在该类晶体中,电介质圆柱在空气中的排列存在E偏振和H偏振的光子带隙重叠区,称之为绝对光子带隙;而空气圆孔在电介质中的排列时,虽然E偏振和H偏振均分别存在光子带隙,但不存在绝对光子带隙。同时利用晶体的光子带结构研究了有效长波介电常数,所得结果与静电理论吻合。 相似文献

We analyse bend loss properties of a band gap-guided periodic structure, and give reasons for the effects found. In many cases, a tight bend produces only a slight reduction in power transmitted. We also make a comparison of bend losses in conventional waveguides and bend-resistant waveguides. 相似文献

The tunable two-dimensional photonic crystals band gap, absolute photonic band gap and semi-Dirac point are beneficial to designing the novel optical devices. In this paper, tunable photonic band gaps structure was realized by a new type two-dimensional function photonic crystals, which dielectric constants of medium columns are functions of space coordinates. However for the two-dimensional conventional photonic crystals the dielectric constant does not change with space coordinates. As the parameter adjustment, we found that the photonic band gaps structures are dielectric constant function coefficient, medium columns radius, dielectric constant function form period number and pump light intensity dependent, namely, the photonic band gaps position and width can be tuned. we also obtained absolute photonic band gaps and semi-Dirac point in the photonic band gaps structures of two-dimensional function photonic crystals. These results provide an important theoretical foundation for design novel optical devices. 相似文献

光子晶体由于具有光子带隙和光子局域等一系列优异的光学特性而受到了人们广泛的关注。由于采用胶体颗粒自组装法制备光子晶体制备工艺简单,所需要的费用也较低,因此已成为制备可见光至红外波段三维光子晶体的一种简便有效的方法。采用垂直沉积法制得了三维光子晶体薄膜,并用扫描电子显微镜和紫外-可见光-近红外分光光度计对其显微结构和光学特性进行了详细的研究。结果表明,自组装薄膜在三维方向上都具有有序结构,其密排面平行于载波片的表面。制备的光子晶体薄膜具有明显的光子带隙特性,带隙中心波长为956nm。研究了带隙中心波长同入射线与密排面法线夹角之间的变化关系,其结果与理论值吻合得很好。 相似文献

A novel design of polarization splitter based on the complete photonic band gap has been proposed in this paper. The proposed Photonic Band Gap (PBG) polarization splitter is formed by two photonic crystal waveguides composed of dielectric rods in air in honeycomb structure for which complete photonic band gap is obtained using the plane wave expansion (PWE) method. The splitting properties (i.e. coupling length, extinction ratio and insertion loss) of PBG polarization splitter have numerically been investigated using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. It has been shown that polarization splitter of length as small as 32 μm can be designed at λ=1.55 μm. The proposed polarization splitter offers a large bandwidth of 120 nm. 相似文献

研究了光波在没有光子带隙的三角晶格型光子晶体多模波导中的传播特性. 利用等效折射率法,将该结构等效为三层平板介质波导,基于自映像原理,数值分析和模拟了其多模干涉效应. 研究结果表明,由于全内反射和分布式布拉格反射的联合效应,光场类似于传统波导模式,能高效地传输;随着填充率的增大,高透射区域将向波长减小的方向移动,带宽和透射率也随之增加, 研究结果为实际应用中选择适当的填充率提供了理论依据.

The existence and properties of photonic band gaps was investigated for a square lattice of dielectric cylinders in air. Band structure calculations were performed using the transfer matrix method as function of the dielectric constant of the cylinders and the cylinder radius-to-pitch ratio r/a. It was found that band gaps exist only for transverse magnetic polarization for a dielectric contrast larger then 3.8 (index contrast >1.95). The optimum r/a ratio is 0.25 for the smallest index contrast. For silicon cylinders (n = 3.45) the widest gap is observed for r/a = 0.18. Band structure calculations as function of r/a show that up to four gaps open for the silicon structure. The effective index was obtained from the band structure calculations and compared with Maxwell–Garnett effective medium theory. Using the band structure calculations we obtained design parameters for silicon based photonic crystal waveguides. The possibility and limitations of amorphous silicon, silicon germanium and silicon-on-insulator structures to achieve index guiding in the third dimension is discussed. 相似文献

全固态光子带隙光纤由于其独特的带隙和色散特性以及易于和传统光纤熔接的优势,引起了国内外研究人员的广泛关注.本文采用等离子体化学气相沉积工艺结合堆叠拉制法制备了全固态光子带隙光纤,并运用频域有限差分法模拟了其损耗和色散特性.该光纤1550 nm处有较低损耗且单模传输,计算得到1550 nm处的有效模场面积和色散分别为191.81μm2和16.418 ps/(km·nm),在测试范围1500—1650 nm内损耗小于0.15 dB/m.结合实验结果,对光纤参数做了进一步模拟优化. 相似文献

周期性受限原子蒸气/电介质层光子带隙(PBG)宽度及其诱导的反射平顶随蒸气层厚度 d的增大而变宽,并在 ( 为原子的共振波长)时达到最大值,之后随d的增大呈变窄趋势. 随着蒸气厚度的增大,带隙的中心频率产生红移,厚度越大,红移量越大. 研究还发现,共振波长处的反射及透射谱具有迪克窄化结构. 这种可调谐的PBGs结构可望用于全光反射镜及滤波器. 相似文献
