Using powder neutron diffraction, we have discovered an unusual magnetic order-order transition in the Ising spin chain compound Ca3Co2O6. On lowering the temperature, an antiferromagnetic phase with a propagation vector k=(0.5,-0.5,1) emerges from a higher temperature spin density wave structure with k=(0,0,1.01). This transition occurs over an unprecedented time scale of several hours and is never complete.  相似文献

We investigate the electronic structure and magnetic properties of layered compound Sr3Fe2O5 based on first-principles calculations in the framework of density functional theory with GGA+U method. Under high pressure, the ladder-type layered structure of Sr3Fe2O5 is transformed into the infinite layered structure accompanied by a transition from G-type anti-ferromagnetic (AFM) insulator to ferromagnetic (FM) metal and a spin transition from S=2 to S=1. We reproduce these transformations in our calculations and give a clear physical interpretation.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of Fe2O3 nanoparticles (average diameter ∅≅3 nm) in alumina (68% Fe2O3 in weight) have been investigated by magnetization measurements. The results indicate a superparamagnetic behavior of interacting particles, which block with decreasing temperature (the zero-field-cooled susceptibility shows a maximum at T≅145 K) with a distribution of relaxation times. A change of magnetic regime is observed below ∼60 K, due to the increasing interparticle interactions and local surface anisotropy.  相似文献

We report temperature dependent heat capacity and magnetization measurements on single crystals of Nd1-xLaxRhIn5 (x=0.15, 0.4 and 0.5) and NdRhIn5-xSnx (x=0.08, 0.12 and 0.24). NdRhIn5 is an antiferromagnetic (AFM) compound with TN≈ 11 K which crystallizes in the same layered tetragonal structure of the CeMIn5 family (M=Rh, Co and Ir), where different ground states can be found by tuning the interplay among different microscopic interactions such as the Kondo effect, crystal field (CEF) effects and the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yoshida (RKKY) magnetic interaction. Here, we explore the evolution of the AFM correlations in this Nd-based (non-Kondo) compound while perturbing the RKKY exchange by using two different substitutions: (i) replacing Nd3+ by non-magnetic La3+ within NdIn3 atomic planes (dilution) and (ii) substituting In by Sn in the In-sites (electronic tuning). For both types of doping, our results show the suppression of the AFM state as the La- or Sn-content is increased. This doping induced suppression of the AFM order is discussed considering the effects of dilution and effects in the tetragonal CEF using a mean-field model applied to the observed data. Our results are compared to the properties of other members of the RRhIn5 family considering the role of dimensionality in the magnetic interactions.  相似文献

Lanthanum ion (La3+)-substituted garnet nanoparticles Y3?x La x Fe5O12 (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0) were fabricated by a sol–gel method. Their crystalline structures and magnetic properties were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and Mössbauer spectrum. The XRD results show that samples of Y3?x La x Fe5O12 (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.8) are all single phase and the sizes of particles range from 32 to 65 nm. Those of Y2LaFe5O12 consisted of peaks from garnet and LaFeO3 structures. Compared to pure YIG, the saturation magnetization is larger when the La concentration x = 0.2. However, with increasing La concentration (x), it decreases obviously. Meanwhile, may be due to the enhancement of the surface spin effects, the saturation magnetization rises as the particle size is increased. Different from the pure YIG, the Mössbauer spectra of Y2.8La0.2Fe5O12 and Y2.2La0.8Fe5O12 are composed of four sets of six-line hyperfine patterns. The results tell us that the substitution of La3+ ions with large ionic radius (1.061 Å) will give rise to a microscopic structure distortion of the a- and d-sites to different degrees, and the Zeeman sextets from a- and d-sites begin to split into two sub-sextets, which is helpful to explain the phenomenon observed in the study of the magnetic property.  相似文献

The magneto-optical susceptibility and magnetic hysteresis loops of the Faraday effect, which accompany the technical magnetization of the iron garnet Tb3Fe5O12, have been investigated experimentally in the temperature region near the magnetic compensation point of this ferrimagnet T c = 249 K. It has been found that, during the technical magnetization as the temperature approaches the magnetic compensation point T c , the velocity of domain walls increases, whereas the magneto-optical susceptibility has local maxima to the right and to the left from T c . Mentioned features of magneto-optical properties of the iron garnet Tb3Fe5O12 are associated with the resonance natural frequency of the domain wall oscillations in the crystal with the frequency of the alternating magnetic field. It has been shown that the used theoretical model of the magnetic resonance of domain walls makes it possible to consistently describe (at the qualitative level) the revealed regularities of the variation of the Faraday effect in the iron garnet Tb3Fe5O12 near T c .  相似文献

The Wohlfarth method applied to the semiconducting spin glass Fe0.35V2O5 indicates that the most intensive blocking of magnetic clusters occurs in low magnetic field at 7.5 K just below the temperature of the susceptibility maximum. However, the blocking process is diffused and several classes of clusters are blocked at higher temperatures.  相似文献

The static critical behavior of the models of small magnetic particles of the real two-sublattice antiferromagnet MnF2 is investigated by the Monte Carlo method taking into account the interaction of the second nearest neighbors. Systems with open boundaries are considered to estimate the influence of the sizes of particles on the pattern of their critical behavior. The behavior of thermodynamic functions in the phase transition region is investigated. The data on the maxima of the temperature dependences of heat capacity and magnetic susceptibility are shown to be insufficient to unambiguously determine the effective temperature of the phase transition in the models of small magnetic particles. This requires an additional investigation of the spatial orientation of the sublattice (sublattices) magnetization vector for the models under study.  相似文献

The orthorhombic holmium oxisulphate orders as a two-sublattice antiferromagnet atT=3.5 K. In external fields along the crystallographica- andc-directions with large and medium-sized magnetic moment, respectively, a ferrimagnetic phase with 1/3 of the saturation magnetization is passed before the paramagnetic phase is reached. Calculations in mean-field theory reveal that for thec-direction the ferrimagnetic phase is not stable atT=0, it only exists for finite temperatures. Magnetization and susceptibility contain large contributions of van Vleck paramagnetism which at any rate have to be taken into consideration. The phase diagram for the two field directions and the magnetic structures of the different phases are established.  相似文献

In this work the effect of a SiO2 coating on the magnetic properties of Fe3O4 nanoparticles obtained by the sol-gel method is analyzed. Two sets of samples were prepared: Fe3O4 nanoparticles and Fe3O4@SiO2 core-shell composites. The samples display the characteristic spinel structure associated with the magnetite Fe3O4 phase, with the majority of grain sizes around 5-10 nm. At room temperature the nanoparticles show the characteristic superparamagnetic behavior with mean blocking temperatures around 160 and 120 K for Fe3O4 and Fe3O4@SiO2, respectively. The main effect of the SiO2 coating is reflected in the temperature dependence of the high field magnetization (μ(0)H = 6 T), i.e. deviations from the Bloch law at low temperatures (T < 20 K). Such deviations, enhanced by the introduction of the SiO2 coating, are associated with the occurrence of surface spin disordered effects. The induction heating effects (magnetic hyperthermia) are analyzed under the application of an AC magnetic field. Maximum specific absorption rate (SAR) values around 1.5 W g(-1) were achieved for the Fe3O4 nanoparticles. A significant decrease (around 26%) is found in the SAR values of the SiO2 coated nanocomposite. The different heating response is analyzed in terms of the decrease of the effective nanoparticle magnetization in the Fe3O4@SiO2 core-shell composites at room temperature.  相似文献

Calcium–silica–phosphate glasses containing iron were partially crystallised to obtain a glass-ceramic system, applicable in hyperthermia treatments. The increasing iron content determines a higher glass transition temperature and the disposal of iron ions in small clusters. The magnetisation values for vitroceramic samples suggest that the main contribution to magnetisation is due to iron ions from magnetite.  相似文献

Three sizes of SmMn2O5 nanorods that are labeled with (<LC>) × axial lengths of 58(17) nm × 25(6) nm, 92(21) nm × 32(8) nm, and 126(25) nm × 52(13) nm were fabricated by the hydrothermal method. All the samples exhibited an antiferroicmagnetic (AFM) peak at approximately 6 K, which was associated with Sm magnetic ordering and no size independence. Another AFM magnetic ordering that belongs to the Mn ion was found with <LC> = 58 nm, 92 nm, and 126 nm at 26 K, 28 K, and 30 K, respectively. The spin-orbit interaction increases with size in the magnetic susceptibility experiment. All the samples displayed a hysteresis loop at 2 K. The coercivity decreases as the size increases. The effects of the size on the crystal structure were elucidated from the Raman spectra of the <LC> = 92 and 126 nm samples at various temperatures. The 126 nm sample displayed a red-shift for the Ag mode with warming, revealing that the Mn–O bonds are more sensitive to temperature in larger SmMn2O5 nanorods. These results demonstrate that the size effect importantly affects the structure and magnetic properties in SmMn2O5 multiferroic nanorods.  相似文献

The 55Mn nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of noncollinear 12-sublattice antiferromagnet Mn3Al2Ge3O12 has been studied in the frequency range of 200–640 MHz in the external magnetic field H ‖ [001] at T = 1.2 K. Three absorption lines have been observed in fields less than the field of the reorientation transition H c at the polarization hH of the rf field. Two lines have been observed at H > H c and hH. The spectral parameters indicate that the magnetic structure of manganese garnet differs slightly from the exchange triangular 120-degree structure. The anisotropy of the spin reduction and (or) weak antiferromagnetism that are allowed by the crystal symmetry lead to the difference of ≈3% in the magnetization of sublattices in the field H < H c. When the spin plane rotates from the orientation perpendicular to the C 3 axis to the orientation perpendicular to the C 4 axis, all magnetic moments of the electronic subsystem decrease by ≈2% from the average value in the zero field.  相似文献

The effect of doping with Li+, Zn2+, Ni2+, and Ga3+ ions on the magnetic susceptibility of the low-dimensional antiferromagnet CuO (T N=230 K) has been studied within a broad temperature range of 77–600 K. The solubility of impurity ions in the CuO lattice is low, ⩽3%. Impurity ions, similar to intrinsic defects, distort antiferromagnetic coupling and can shift the long-and short-range magnetic-order regions toward lower T. Fiz. Tverd. We have observed large peaks in the ultrasonic attenuation of a pure and two doped LaAl2 crystals in the temperature region of about 45 K which are possibly of the Bordoni type. Their most interesting characteristics are:
  1. There is only one peak in each sample.
  2. The peaks are so narrow that they can be described by the original Seeger model with only one actication energy and one attempt frequency.
