It is shown that muonium in the ground state has a quadrupole moment. Existence of the quadrupole moment of muonium leads to essential influence of crystal electric fields on the precession and relaxation of its spin in a medium.  相似文献

The quadrupole moment ratio of9Li and11Li was measured by a combination of in-beam laser induced nuclear polarization and Β-NMR in LiNbO3. The result ¦Q(11Li)/Q(9Li)¦=1.14(16) is consistent with cluster models describing11Li as composed of a9Li core and a far extended halo of two loosely bound neutrons.  相似文献

Multiple quantum nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) transitions were observed on polarized8Li nuclei, which were produced by capture of polarized neutrons in a single crystal of LiTaO3. The asymmetric8Liβ-radiation distribution was used for the detection of NMR. A quadrupole moment ratio ¦Q(8Li)/Q(7Li)¦=0.78(1) was determined. Saturation of multiple quantum transitions in nuclear radiation detected NMR may lead to a reduction in measuring time of up to two orders of magnitude, as compared to single quantum detection methods. The measured spectra agree well with an exact lineshape calculation. The same measurements were also performed on a LiTaO3 powder sample. This was done to test a method to obtain quadrupole coupling constants from high field NMR multiple quantum powder patterns, which are easily detectable, also for higher nuclear spins. This latter method may be applicable also to conventional NMR detection techniques.  相似文献

Quadrupole effects in -NMR spectra of41Sc(I =7/2,T 1/2=0.596 s) implanted in a TiO2 single crystal were detected by use of a modified -NMR technique. Using the field gradient in the crystal determined by the pulsed-Fourier-transformed NMR of45Sc in TiO2, the quadrupole moment of41Sc has been determined as |Q(41Sc; 7/2)|=166±8 mb.  相似文献

A brief review is presented of recent work with the Precision Penning Trap Mass Spectrometer, formerly at MIT, now at Florida State University. This includes atomic mass comparisons using single trapped ions; mass comparisons using two simultaneously trapped ions alternated between large and small cyclotron radii; and measurement of the dipole moment of a molecular ion using the polarizability-induced shift in cyclotron frequency.  相似文献

The nuclear quadrupole moment of8B(I =2+,T 1/2=769 ms) has been determined by use of a modified -NMR detection as |Q(8B)|=68.3±2.1 mb, which is twice the prediction of the Cohen-Kurath shell model calculation. The anomalous quadrupole moment which is carried mainly by the protons in the nucleus, has been accounted for by the proton halo effect.  相似文献

The sign of the quadrupole coupling constant eqQ of 8B in ZrB2 is determined to be positive through the β-delayed α-ray anisotropy measurement combined with the spin manipulation technique by use of the β-NMR. According to the theoretical calculation of the electric field gradient in ZrB2, the sign of the quadrupole moment of 8B is deduced to be positive. An experimental NMR study of the 6Li isotope in single crystals of lithium niobate has been performed, along with a computer simulation of 6Li NMR spectra for a crystal of congruent composition, containing defects in the cation sublattice. It is found that the mean value of the principal component of the electric field gradient tensor at the 6Li nuclei is 1.48 times larger than at the 7Li nuclei. It is surmised that there is a substantial difference in the character of the mobility of the 6Li and 7Li nuclei in the LiO6 octahedra at room temperature. Fiz. Tverd. The nuclear quadrupole interactions for7Li and14N nuclei are studied for lithium nitride crystal using the Hartree-Fock cluster procedure to obtain the electronic structure. The influence of the Madelung potential due to the ions outside the cluster was incorporated in a first-principle manner. Our results for the quadrupole coupling constants will be compared with experimental data and the results of a recent band calculation.  相似文献

Results of studying the conditions for optimum electrooptical (EO) interaction in lithium niobate crystals are presented. Analytical formulas are obtained for calculating refractive indices of natural waves and their polarizations for basis X-, Y-, and Z-cuts of crystals for arbitrary orientations of the wave vector of an optical wave. Conditions are found for the appearance of intermode EO interaction causing the orientation of polarization plane of natural waves to become a function of the external electric field.  相似文献

BaHfO3 is prepared by sintering a mixture of BaCO3 and HfO2 giving the same heat treatments as for YBa2Cu3O7– (YBCO). X-ray diffraction analysis confirms the formation of cubic BaHfO3 along with some unreacted HfO2. A181Ta TDPAC study of the sample, prepared using neutron-irradiated HfO2 and BaCO3, shows a relaxation process to be present in the sample. The value of the relaxation constant0.26 ns is unusually large and temperature independent.  相似文献

Quadrupole interaction data recorded by Triplett et al for the C1hTm site in TmF3 are analysed via semi-empirical procedures, one of which employs rank 2 CF parameters derived from the155Gd: GdF3 Mössbauer results of Katila et al. We have studied the 2H(8Li,p)9Li reaction to obtain information on the spins, parities, and single-neutron spectroscopic factors for states in 9Li, using a radioactive 8Li beam. The deduced properties of the lowest three states are compared to the predictions of a number of calculations for the structure of 9Li. The results of ab initio quantum Monte Carlo calculations are in good agreement with the observed properties.  相似文献

Microwave transitions between the Zeeman split doublet states 22 P 1/2 and 22 P 3/2 of7Li have been measured using the optical double resonance method. The fine structure separation was determined to bev fs=10.053.184(58) MHz. The hyperfine structure was well resolved and led to considerably improved precision of the diagonal coupling constantsa 1/2=45.914(25) MHz,a 3/2=?3.055(14) MHz,b=?0.221(29) MHz. Furthermore, the contact, spin dipolar and orbital magnetic hyperfine constants are evaluated using additional results from level crossing experiments, which are more sensitive on the non-diagonal magnetic hyperfine constanta 3/2,1/2. The results are in good agreement with recent theoretical calculations. The nuclear quadrupole moment is derived fromb to beQ(7Li)=?41(6) mbarn.  相似文献
