The anomalous Ward identity is derived forN = 2 SUSY Yang-Mills theories, which is resulted out of wrapping ofD 5 branes on supersymmetric two cycles. Prom the ward identity one obtains the Witten-Dijkgraaf-Verlinde-Verlinde equation and hence can solve for the pre-potential. This way one avoids the problem of enhancon which maligns the non-perturbative behaviour of the Yang-Mills theory resulted out of wrapped branes.  相似文献

We propose a new integrable N = 2 supersymmetric Toda lattice hierarchy which may be relevant for constructing a supersymmetric one-matrix model. We define its first two Hamiltonian structures, the recursion operator and Lax-pair representation. We provide partial evidence for the existence of an infinite-dimensional N = 2 superalgebra of its flows. We study its bosonic limit and introduce new Lax-pair representations for the bosonic Toda lattice hierarchy. Finally we discuss the relevance this approach for constructing N = 2 supersymmetric generalized Toda lattice hierarchies.  相似文献

We investigate the perturbative part of Seiberg's low-energy effective action of N = 2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in Wess-Zumino gauge in the conventional effective field theory technique. Using the method of constant field approximation and restricting the effective action with at most two derivatives and not more than four-fermion couplings, we show some features of the low-energy effective action given by Seiberg based on U(1)R anomaly and non-perturbative β-function arguments.  相似文献

We study the existence of monopole bound states saturating the BPS bound in N = 2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories. We describe how the existence of such bound states relates to the topology of index bundles over the moduli space of BPS solutions. Using an L2 index theorem, we prove the existence of certain BPS states predicted by Seiberg and Witten based on their study of the vacuum structure of N = 2 Yang-Mills theories.  相似文献

A general representation for a quasi-self-dual gauge field which is a generalization of the 't Hooft ansatz is obtained in the Euclidean conformally invariant Yang-Mills theory with a sextuplet of real scalar fields-the boson sector of N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. The existence of an O(4)-symmetric quasi-self-dual solution in the region g 2>0 is proved. An explicit example of the quasi-self-dual instanton in the region g 2<0 is constructed.  相似文献

We establish a direct link between massive Ising model and arbitrary massiveN=2 supersymmetric QFT's in two dimensions. This explains why the equations which appear in the computation of spin-correlations in the non-critical Ising model are the same as those describing the geometry of vacua inN=2 theories. The tau-function appearing in the Ising model (i.e., the spin correlation function) is reinterpreted in theN=2 context as a new index. In special cases this new index is related to the Ray-Singer analytic torsion, and can be viewed as a generalization of that to the loop space of Kähler manifolds.  相似文献

We solve the consistency conditions of the BRS symmetry in a general N = 1 sypersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with semi-simple gauge group. As a result we find uniquely the supersymmetric extension of the chiral anomaly. Its coefficient is calculated in one loop and does not, in general, vanish. This corrects our earlier statement on the absence of this anomaly.  相似文献

It is shown that an N = 1, d = 10 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory admits a spontaneous quantum compactification of the form M4 × S6, where M4, and S6 are the Minkowski space and the 6-sphere, accordingly. Using the anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence, we relate the shear viscosity eta of the finite-temperature N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in the large N, strong-coupling regime with the absorption cross section of low-energy gravitons by a near-extremal black three-brane. We show that in the limit of zero frequency this cross section coincides with the area of the horizon. From this result we find eta = pi / 8N(2)T3. We conjecture that for finite 't Hooft coupling g(2)(YM)N the shear viscosity is eta = f(g(2)(YM)N)N2T3, where f(x) is a monotonic function that decreases from O(x(-2)ln(-1)(1/x)) at small x to pi/8 when x-->infinity.  相似文献

We have calculated the beta function of the N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory through three-loop order and find that it is zero. The calculation was performed using superspace techniques that also allowed the calculation of the complete three-loop chiral-multiplet propagator, which turned out to be quite simple. These results strongly support the speculations that the theory is finite order-by-order in perturbation theory.  相似文献

Supersymmetric (SUSY) Ward identities are considered for the N=1 SU(2) SUSY Yang-Mills theory discretized on the lattice with Wilson fermions (gluinos). They are used in order to compute non-perturbatively a subtracted gluino mass and the mixing coefficient of the SUSY current. The computations were performed at gauge coupling and hopping parameter , 0.194, 0.1955 using the two-step multi-bosonic dynamical-fermion algorithm. Our results are consistent with a scenario where the Ward identities are satisfied up to O(a) effects. The vanishing of the gluino mass occurs at a value of the hopping parameter which is not fully consistent with the estimate based on the chiral phase transition. This suggests that, although SUSY restoration appears to occur close to the continuum limit of the lattice theory, the results are still affected by significant systematic effects. It is shown that supersymmetry breaking does not occur in a supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with an effective lagrangian (EL) constructed of the simplest composite colourless superfields. Our arguments appear also to be valid for the case of still more complicated models of EL.  相似文献
