Localized fields in the defect mode of one-dimensional photonic crystals with active impurity are studied with the help of the theory of spontaneous emission from two-level atoms embedded in photonic crystals.Numerical simulations demonstrate that the enhancement of stimulated radiation, as well as the phenomena of transmissivity larger than unity and the abnormality of group velocity close to the edges of photonic band gap, are related to the negative imaginary part of the complex effective refractive index of doped layers. This means that the complex effective refractive index has a negative imaginary part, and that the impurity state with very high quality factor and great state density will occur in the photonic forbidden band if active impurity is introduced into the defect layer properly. Therefore, the spontaneous emission can be enhanced, the amplitude of stimulated emission will be very large and it occurs most probably close to the edges of photonic band gap with the fundamental reason, the group velocity close to the edges of band gap is very small or abnormal.  相似文献

Propagation of an electromagnetic pulse through one-dimensional photonic crystals with a three- level atomic defect layer is discussed. It is shown that the group velocity of the transmitted pulse can be controlled by the frequency detuning and the width of the defect layer. Moreover, the effects of controlling parameter such as Rabi-frequency on light propagation through one-dimensional photonic crystals are then introduced.  相似文献

We propose a method for entangling a system of two-level atoms in photonic crystals. The atoms are assumed to move in void regions of a photonic crystal. The interaction between the atoms is mediated either via a defect mode or via a resonant dipole-dipole interaction. We show that these interactions can produce pure entangled atomic states. We analyze the problem with parameters typical for currently existing photonic crystals and Rydberg atoms and we show that the atoms can emerge from photonic crystals in entangled states. Depending on the linear dimensions of the crystal we estimate that a pair of atoms entangled in a photonic crystal can be separated by tens of centimeters. Propagation of an electromagnetic pulse through one-dimensional photonic crystal doped with three-level ο-type atomic systems is discussed. It is found that in the presence of quantum interference and incoherent pump, the transmitted pulse becomes completely phase dependent. So, the group velocity of the transmitted pulse can be switched from subluminal to superluminal light propagation just by adjusting the relative phase of applied fields.  相似文献

讨论了一维负折射光子晶体对光脉冲传播的影响.通过对光脉冲的透射场强的数值计算发现,频谱处于一维负折射率材料光子晶体禁带中的短脉冲通过光子晶体后基本保持形状不变,而对同样的短脉冲通过传统的一维光子晶体的透射脉冲则出现严重畸变.当考虑负折射率材料的色散时,讨论了位相时间随光脉冲载波频率的变化情况.  相似文献

In this paper, we use the theory of spontaneous emission of two-level atoms embedded in photonic crystals. The unavoidable existence of a localized field with a defect mode and its basic properties are confirmed, which enables one to study the inherent laws of spontaneous emission from doped media. We combine the theory of spontaneous emission with numerical simulation for studying stimulated emission in a doped localized field and conditions for increasing the emission. The inherent laws for the cases where transmissivity is larger than unity and the negative imaginary part of the complex refractive index in doped compound lattices appears are also studied. The analysis of two-dimensional nested rectangle photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) with and without active impurities was performed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. We find that, when active impurities are introduced into photonic crystal fibers, the negative imaginary part of the complex refractive index appears and the doped mode with high quality factor and great mode density occurs in the photonic forbidden band, thus amplifying substantially the stimulated emission.  相似文献

采用等离子体的分段线性电流密度卷积时域有限差分算法研究了横磁波入射时具有单一线缺陷的二维非磁化等离子体光子晶体的缺陷模特性. 从频域角度分析得到微分高斯脉冲的透射系数,并讨论该光子晶体的晶格常数、介质圆柱半径、周期常数、缺陷层参数和等离子体参数对缺陷模特性的影响. 结果表明,改变周期常数、缺陷层位置和等离子体碰撞频率不会改变缺陷模的频率,改变缺陷层介质圆柱的相对介电常数、半径和缺陷层到介质层的中心距离可以在不改变禁带宽度的前提下实现对缺陷模的调节,改变晶格常数、介质圆柱半径和等离子体频率能同时实现对禁带宽度和缺陷模的调节. 关键词: 等离子体 光子晶体 缺陷模 时域有限差分算法  相似文献

利用传输矩阵法研究了表层厚度渐变的一维非对称耦合腔光子晶体的反射相位特性. 研究表明, 光子禁带内(包括缺陷模附近)的反射率在98%以上, 且基本不受表层厚度影响, 特别是, 在非正入射情况下, 简并的缺陷模随着表层厚度的变化会发生分裂; 进一步研究发现, 在缺陷模分裂处附近, TE, TM偏振的反射相位以及它们之间的相位差均敏感地依赖于表层厚度的变化, 从而使得反射光的偏振态也随表层厚度的变化而敏感变化, 其物理机理在于缺陷模分裂所造成的剧烈相位变化. 基于上述特性, 设计了一种表层厚度呈二维周期变化的一维光子晶体结构, 从该结构反射的激光经透镜聚焦后, 在聚焦区域同时存在各种偏振态(包括沿不同方向的线偏振、左旋或右旋圆偏振、椭圆偏振等)的子光束, 它们叠加后在聚焦区域将产生具有无规相位和无规偏振态的光场. 以上结果能有效降低激光的相干性, 在激光核聚变等领域有潜在的应用价值.  相似文献

借助光子晶体中二能级原子的自发辐射理论证明缺陷态的局域场存在的必然性以及局域场基本性质,为研究光子晶体光纤掺杂自发辐射的内在规律提供了理论依据。且将自发辐射理论与数值模拟相结合,在缺陷介质中掺激活杂质时,研究了光子晶体光纤的掺杂局域场特征以及受激辐射增强和透射率大于1现象与光子带隙群速度异常和掺杂层复有效折射率成负的虚部之间的内在关系。由此说明光子晶体光纤的缺陷介质中掺入激活杂质时,光子禁带中能出现品质因子非常高的杂质态,具有很大的态密度,较强的受激辐射放大。  相似文献

讨论了缺陷层包含具有双增益线的原子的一维光子晶体中的色散效应及透射谱,双增益线间出现了反常色散区,由于入射光与双增益线的相互作用使得光子带隙中出现了两个透射率远大于1的透射峰;透射峰随着缺陷位置和体系结构参数的变化而产生变化;左透射峰和右透射峰很窄的频率范围内分别出现了斜率极大的反常色散和正常色散,产生了负的群速度和极慢光速的光传播行为。  相似文献

The geometric phase of a three-level atom interacting with single-mode in the presence of the one-dimensional photonic band gap material is studied. We consider dipole emitters situated in the thin slab region between two semi-infinite one-dimensionally periodic photonic crystals, a situation reminiscent of planar cavity laser structures. It shows that the Pancharatnam phase depends crucially on the presence of the photonic band gap. This feature is attributed to the fact that in the photonic band gap region electromagnetic modes are not allowed to propagate into the dielectric slab and hence no interaction can take place in this region. 用真空镀膜方法制备了含有单个CdS缺陷层的具有不同周期和结构参量的TiO2/SiO2一维光子晶体。用抽运一探测技术研究了CdS缺陷层的双光子吸收(TPA)现象。实验结果表明:一维光子晶体中CdS缺陷层的双光子吸收显著增强。不同周期和结构参量的一维光子晶体中CdS缺陷层的双光子吸收系数不同。双光子吸收的增强来源于由光局域化导致的缺陷层的电场强度的增加。缺陷层电场强度与一维光子晶体的结构有关,如周期,光子带隙的位置与宽度及缺陷模式等因素都会影响缺陷层电场强度。采用四分之一波长的高低折射率介质层和与入射波长匹配的缺陷模可以得到最大的缺陷层电场强度。  相似文献

The band structure of a one-dimensional periodic array composed of two different layers of dimensions a and b characterized by refractive indices n 1 and n 2, respectively, is investigated. Refractive indices may take on positive as well as negative values. Within the Maxwell framework and using a transfer matrix technique for one dimensional periodic eigen-problems, we have determined a general equation, which governs the photonic band structure and the density of states (DOS) of one-dimensional photonic crystals. In addition to the well-known existence of the band gaps, we show that, depending on the width relationship b/a between the layer materials, super-lattices with null photonic band gap may exist and the conditions for such occurrences are established. Furthermore, we have been able to study the so-called 〈n〉 = 0 non-Bragg gap, ground ω0, for which the average refraction felt by the propagating radiation is null. 分析了含有多个单负材料缺陷层的一维光子晶体中缺陷模的性质。在两种单负(负介电常量或负磁导率)材料交替堆叠形成的一维光子晶体中,掺入了多个周期排列的单负材料缺陷层,得到在该光子晶体的零有效相位(zero-effective phase)带隙内存在孪生缺陷模。通过改变缺陷的数目或缺陷层的厚度,可调节缺陷模的频率间隔,但缺陷模的数目总保持为两个。计算结果显示,该孪生缺陷模的频率对入射角度的依赖较弱;随着入射角度的改变,缺陷模频率的相对改变量总保持在0.03以下。此外,对应缺陷模频率的电场在该光子晶体中传播时,将被强烈地局域在缺陷层与周期结构的交界面上。  相似文献

采用光学传输矩阵方法,模拟研究了由正折射率材料和负折射率材料交替组成的一维光子晶体的光学传输特性.计算了这种含负折射率材料的一维光子晶体的透射谱和色散关系.结果表明,在正入射时,含负折射率材料的光子晶体的带隙要比传统的光子晶体要大得多,并具有狭窄的透射带,从光学薄膜理论的色散关系出发解释了形成上述现象的原因.讨论了在不同的偏振模式下,光以中心波长入射时,反射率随着入射角度的变化关系.发现含负折射率材料的一维光子晶体具有更好的角度特性,可以用来实现对中心波长的全方位反射.  相似文献

对一维掺杂光子晶体嵌入负介电常数材料和负磁导率材料中缺陷模的透射性质进行了研究.利用转移矩阵方法,分别计算了负介电常数材料和负磁导率材料的反射相位谱和一维掺杂光子晶体的透射相位谱.研究发现,在特定条件下,负介电常数材料和负磁导率材料的反射相位以及一维掺杂光子晶体的往返透射相位之和是0或者2π的整数倍.这样的研究结果表明,在满足一定的条件下,一维掺杂的光子晶体嵌入负介电常数材料和负磁导率材料中后,无论杂质的厚度多大,在光子带隙中仅出现一个缺陷模.而且,由于负介电常数材料和负磁导率材料性质的限制,单个缺陷模的品质因子会大大提高.  相似文献

采用SiO2/CdSe构建了可见光波段一维光子晶体结构,并在其中引入LiTaO3缺陷层。利用传输矩阵法,分析了电磁波在无缺陷与含LiTaO3缺陷层两种光子晶体中的带隙结构,系统地研究了缺陷层参数对光子晶体可见光波段带隙结构的影响规律。计算结果表明:LiTaO3的引入,有利于带隙宽度的增加,调整缺陷层结构参数,缺陷模的位置可在不同颜色区域出现,如红光、黄光等缺陷模。该结构有望用于制作可见光波段的滤波器。  相似文献

运用光学传输矩阵理论,研究了含负折射率材料1维光子晶体缺陷模的偏振特性。结果显示,零均折射率带隙中缺陷模对入射角和偏振有较强的依赖。通过对缺陷层参数的优化设计,得到了一系列的偏振无关非全向缺陷模,这是传统1维光子晶体中不能出现的。应用这些缺陷模,设计了低通、高通、带通空间滤波器。与传统光子晶体空间滤波器相比,这些空间滤波器具有偏振无关的优点。  相似文献
