A semiorganic nonlinear optical material (thiosemicarbazide cadmium chloride monohydrate) (TCCM) was synthesized and single crystals was grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation method at ambient temperature. Crystal of average size up to 5×4×3 mm3 were harvested and characterized by powder X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and Fourier transfer infrared (FTIR) technique to confirm the identity of the compound formed. The thermal stability was analyzed by TG/DTA. The birefringence values (Δn) were determined in the wavelength region 540-6500 Å. The second harmonic generation (SHG) from the materials was confirmed using Nd:YAG laser.  相似文献

2-Furoic acid (2FA), an organic third order nonlinear optical single crystal, has been synthesized and grown successfully by slow solvent evaporation technique. The space group and lattice parameters of the grown crystals were obtained by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The presence of the functional groups was confirmed by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Optical absorption studies reveal low absorption in the UV and visible regions and the UV cut-off wavelength is found to be at 240 nm. The thermal stability of the material examined by TGA analysis, reveals that the material is thermally stable up to 130 °C. The third order nonlinear optical parameters (nonlinear refractive index, nonlinear absorption coefficient and real and imaginary parts of the third order nonlinear optical susceptibility) were derived by Z-scan technique. This reveals that the crystal has a negative refractive index, which indicates the defocusing nature of the material.  相似文献

An apt and a futuristic nonlinear optical material sodium tetraborate pentahydrate (STBPH) was synthesized and grown by the technique of slow evaporation. The structural parameters of the crystal was confirmed by single crystal XRD revealed rhombohedral crystal system. Crystal's broad optical transparency was revealed by UV–Vis absorption spectrum. From the absorption spectrum, theoretical calculations were made to determine absorption coefficient, band gap, Urbach energy and reflectance. The functional groups were identified by FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra. Vicker's microhardness measurement disclosed that the grown crystal belongs to soft material category. Photoluminescence (PL) spectral study of STBPH indicated violet and blue emission peaks respectively at 343.06 nm and at 453.11 nm, 490.19 nm. Dielectric studies reveal the dielectric nature of the grown crystal. TGA-DTA studies showed that the crystal holds good thermal stability. The third order nonlinearities of STBPH was investigated by Z-scan technique manifest its suitability in nonlinear optical applications.  相似文献

Single crystals of the nonlinear optical material glycine thiourea were grown by the slow evaporation technique. The crystal structure and lattice parameters were determined for the grown crystal by the single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Single crystal XRD revealed that the material crystallized in a monoclinic crystal system. Optical studies have been carried out and it was found that the tendency of transmission observed from the specimen with respect to the wavelength of light, is practically more suitable for opto-electronic applications. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss and ac conductivity of the compound were calculated at different temperatures and frequencies, to analyze the electrical properties. The photoconductive behavior of the material is also investigated and the results are discussed.  相似文献

An organic nonlinear optical nicotinium tartrate (NT) single crystal was grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique. The cell parameters of NT crystal were confirmed by single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction studies. The crystalline perfection of NT crystal was examined from HRXRD studies. The presence of functional groups was identified from FTIR spectral analysis. TGA and DSC studies revealed the thermal stability of NT crystal. UV–vis-NIR spectral studies showed that the NT crystal has wide transmission window in the entire visible region. The dielectric study on NT crystal established the normal dielectric behavior. The mechanical strength of NT crystal was studied by Vickers’ microhardness test. The laser damage threshold value of NT crystal was measured using Nd:YAG laser. The relative SHG efficiency of NT was measured to be 1.1 times that of KDP.  相似文献

A new nonlinear optical material glycine potassium sulphate (GPS) has been synthesized and optical quality crystals were grown from aqueous solution. This material has positive temperature coefficient revealed from the solubility studies. The grown crystals were characterized by employing several techniques such as single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, thermo gravimetric analysis, FTIR and UV-vis-NIR spectra. The etching studies have been done on the (1 0 0) plane of the grown crystal. Preliminary measurements to find second harmonic generation efficiency of GPS has been carried out.  相似文献

Single crystals of guanidinium 4-nitrobenzoate (GuNB) were grown using solvent evaporation technique by mixing aqueous solutions of guanidine carbonate and 4-nitrobenzoic acid at ambient temperature. X-ray diffraction analysis characterized the unit cell parameters of the grown crystal and the crystal belongs to monoclinic system. The optical properties of the grown crystal have been studied by means of transmission measurements in the wavelength region between 200 and 1200 nm. The optical constants such as refractive index (n) and extinction coefficient (k) have been determined from the transmittance data. The optical band gap (Eg), the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant of the grown crystal was determined. Second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the grown crystal has been studied using Nd:YAG laser and was measured as 3.2 times that of KDP. The low dielectric constant suggests the suitability of this compound material for NLO applications.  相似文献

An efficient nonlinear optical single crystal of 2-phenylethylammonium p-hydroxybenzoate (2PPHB) was grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation solution growth method. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies confirmed that 2PPHB crystallizes in orthorhombic crystal system with non-centrosymmetric space group of Pna21. The presence of functional groups in the synthesized compound was identified by FTIR spectral analysis. The grown crystals were thermally stable up to 155 °C. UV–vis absorption, photoluminescence and birefringence optical properties of grown crystal were explored. The laser induced surface damage threshold and relative second harmonic generation properties of the grown crystal were studied using Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The variation of dielectric properties of the grown crystal with frequency was investigated for different temperatures. Single crystals of 2,4-dinitrophenol were grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique in room temperature. Crystallinity of the grown crystal was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction technique. UV transmission study shows the good optical transmission in the entire visible region. The dielectric loss is very low at high frequency which shows that the crystal contains low level defects. Photoconductivity reveals the positive nature of the photocurrent in these crystals. The powder second harmonic generation test was also carried out using Q-switched Nd:YAG laser.  相似文献

A new semiorganic compound, bis(diethylammonium) tetrachloromercurate(II) was grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at ambient temperature from its aqueous solution. The crystal system and the cell parameters have been identified from the powder X-ray diffraction pattern. The UV–visible absorption of the compound shows absorption at 246 nm and there is absorption observed in the entire visible region indicates that the compound can be used as a nonlinear optical material. The UV–visible transmittance spectrum of grown crystal shows a lower cut-off wavelength at 275 nm and it was found that the crystal is suitable for optoelectronic applications. Thermal studies were carried out to find out the thermal stability and confirm the stoichiometric ratio of the compound. The thermal anomalies in DSC study indicate the occurrence of first order transition in the compound at low temperatures. The FTIR spectrum of the compound characterizes various functional groups. The various kinds of protons and carbons were assigned through NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopic techniques. The SHG efficiency of the compound was studied by Kurtz-Perry power technique and observed that it has SHG efficiency 1.5 times greater than that of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP). The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the compound decreases with increase in frequency.  相似文献

Transparent crystals of α-glycine with ammonium nitrate and barium nitrate (GABN) have been grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. Crystals of size 11 × 7 × 4 mm3 have been obtained in about 3–4 weeks time. The solubility of GABN has been determined in water. The grown crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with cell parameters a = 7.317 A.U, b = 12.154 A.U and c = 5.468 A.U with a unit cell volume 486.35 (A.U)3. The presence of chemical components/groups has been identified by CHN, EDAX and NMR analysis. Comparative IR and Raman studies indicate a molecule with a lack of centre of symmetry. A wide transparency window useful for optoelectronic applications is indicated by the UV Studies. Using a Nd-YAG laser (1064 nm), the optical second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency of GABN is found to be 1.406 times of that of standard KDP. On exposure to light the GABN crystals are found to exhibit negative photoconductivity. I–V characteristics, SEM studies, dielectrics studies, and Vickers micro hardness measurement have been carried out.  相似文献

New trapezoidal, non-linear optical crystals of glycine potassium nitrate (GPN) have been grown by slow cooling from solutions with an initial pH of 4.3. Chemical composition, phase formation and functional groups have been verified by CHN, EDAX, XRF, NMR, XRD, FTIR and Raman studies. UV studies show a much lower cut off wavelength (195 nm) compared to the much investigated glycine sodium nitrate (GSN). The powder SHG efficiency of GPN is found to be 0.6 times compared to that of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP). Cut and polished crystals exposed to light indicate positive photoconductivity. Electrical conductivity studies show an activation energy of 0.16 eV and the dielectric loss is found to decay drastically at higher frequencies (1 MHz) which is desirable in electronic applications. Vickers microhardness studies indicate a Mayer's index value of 2.78. Well resolved, elongated and oriented etch pits have been observed on the side habit face (220) treated in glacial acetic acid for 5 s. Typical circular features resisting the formation of etch pits representing impurity elements have been observed on the cleavage faces. Moisture has been traced on the surface of the crystals subjected to heat treatment.  相似文献

Non-stiochiometric ternary chalcogenides Zn1−xFexS, were prepared in the bulk form by co-precipitation of ZnS and FeS by Na2S from aqueous solution containing FeSO4 and ZnSO4 and sintering of pellets of the co-precipitate repeatedly at 1073K in vacuum sealed quartz ampoules. Concomitant with the bulk form; thin fims of (Zn,Fe)S were synthesized by pyrolytic spray deposition method on quartz substrates from aqueous precursor solution containing ZnCl2, FeCl2 and thiourea in varying concentration under optimized conditions of substrate temperature (653K) carrier gas flowrate (11 l min−1) and solution flow rate (8-6 ml min−1).The structure, chemical composition, optical and thermoelectrical properties of the (bulk) pellets and thin films are studied as a function of initial solution concentration.X-ray diffraction of the pellets and thin films indicated the presence of solid solutions Zn1−xFexS (sphalerite), while surface morphology as determined by SEM revealed a granular structure. Electrical resistivity of pellets and thin films, measured using two probe method (for pellets) and four probe van der Pauw method (for thin films) indicated that they are semiconducting while resistivity studies could not be carried out for a few thin films due to their high resistance (>20 MΩ).The chemical composition of the resulting solids as analyzed by X-ray fluorescence and that of thin films as analyzed by energy dispersive X-ray, reflected the composition of the solutions from which precipitation (for pellets) and deposition (for thin films) was carried out, with Fe contents up to x=0.4.SEM micrograph of pellets and thin films reveal that later have smaller grain size.Thermoelectric studies revealed that both solids and thin films possess the ability of ‘n’ as well as ‘p’ type conductivity.The diffuse optical reflectance measurements of pellets and transmittance measurements for thin films; as a function of wavelength reveal the dependence of direct optical band-gap on Fe content.  相似文献

On exposure to light the GSB crystals exhibit positive photoconductivity. I-V characteristics, dielectrics studies and Vickers micro hardness measurement have been carried out. The Triethanolamine picrate (TEAP) single crystal was grown by slow evaporation technique. The grown crystal crystallizes in monoclinic system and P21/C is the space group determined by Single crystal X-Ray diffraction method. The vibrational modes and functional groups were elucidated from Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectra and Fourier Transform Raman (FT-Raman) spectra. The Ultraviolet - Visible (Uv-Vis) studies accomplished the excitation wavelength of the grown crystal is around 203 nm and 354 nm and it is suitable to exhibit second harmonic generation signal. From the absorption data, remarkable optical properties such as optical band gap energy, extinction coefficient were evaluated. The mechanical strength of the grown crystal was examined by Vickers micro hardness test. The temperature of decomposition was confirmed by Thermo Gravimetric / Differential Thermal Analysis (TG/DTA). Kurtz and Perry technique were confirmed the Non-Linear Optics (NLO) property of the crystal. The electrical properties were explained using Dielectric studies.  相似文献

The nonlinear optical single-crystals GdAl3(BO3)4 (GAB), space group R32, were grown by the top-seed solution growth (TSSG) method. The thermal properties and the nonlinear optical characteristics have been investigated. The two principal coefficients of thermal expansion along (100) and (001) were measured to be 5.30 × 10−6, 1.88 × 10−5 K−1. The transmission spectrum was measured and the second-harmonic generation (SHG) was presented. By way of our designed cross superimposed laser crystal multiplier, the frequency doubling laser at wavelength 457.5 nm was measured to be 18.2 mW and the facular properties indicated the multiplier contributed to the improvement of the frequency doubling conversion efficiency.  相似文献

Gamma bis glycinium oxalate (GBGOx) crystal was synthesized and grown by slow evaporation solution technique. The structure of pure GBGOx crystal has been examined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The confirmation with single crystal XRD reveals that the crystal belongs to monoclinic system with space group C2. The FTIR spectrum was recorded to identify the expected functional groups. UV–vis-spectrum shows the lower cut off wavelength and 80% of transmittance in the UV–vis region. The photoluminescence measurement shows that the material is suitable for photonic devices. Preliminary measurement of green light emission using Kurtz powder technique indicates that their second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency. The microhardness analysis revealed that the grown crystal belongs to soft material category. The encouraging results show that the GBGOx crystals have great potential applications in optical devices.  相似文献

Single crystals of cadmium mercury thiocyanate glycol monomethyl ether (CMTG) were grown from a mixed solvent of glycol monomethyl ether (GME):water (1:1) by slow evaporation method. The crystal structure and morphology were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Presence of functional groups and the coordination of glycol monomethyl ether (GME) and thiocyanate (SCN) in the CMTG compound were confirmed by FT-IR analysis. Optical transparency of the grown crystal was studied by UV–Vis spectroscopy. Thermal stability and decomposition process were studied by means of TGA and DTA analysis. Dielectric measurement on CMTG single crystal was carried out for various frequency and temperatures. The surface studies by scanning electron microscopy reveals the formation of layer growth pattern indicative of 2D nucleation mechanism. From the second harmonic output power measurement by Kurtz powder method, it is observed that CMTG is a potential material for nonlinear optical applications among the bimetallic thiocyanate adducts series.  相似文献
