A new explicit formula is found for the value E n?1 q,α ) of the best approximation in the space L = L 2π of the function Π q,α by the subspace of trigonometric polynomials of order at most n ? 1. We discuss three interrelated extremal problems on the set P n,m of algebraic polynomials of a given degree n on the unit sphere \(\mathbb{S}^{m - 1}\) of the Euclidean space ? m of dimension m ≥ 2. (1) Find the norm of the functional \(F\left( \eta \right) = F_h P_n = \int_{\mathbb{G}\left( \eta \right)} {P_n (x)dx}\), which is the integral over the spherical layer \(\mathbb{G}\left( \eta \right) = \left\{ {x = \left( {x_1 , \ldots ,x_m } \right) \in \mathbb{S}^{m - 1} :h' \leqslant x_m \leqslant h''} \right\}\) defined by a pair of real numbers η = (h′, h″), ?1 ≤ h′ < h″ ≤ 1, on the set P n,m with the norm of the space \(L\left( {\mathbb{S}^{m - 1} } \right)\) of functions summable on the sphere. (2) Find the best approximation in \(L_\infty \left( {\mathbb{S}^{m - 1} } \right)\) of the characteristic function χ η of the layer \(\mathbb{G}\left( \eta \right)\) by the subspace P n,m of functions from \(L_\infty \left( {\mathbb{S}^{m - 1} } \right)\) that are orthogonal to the space of polynomials P n,m . (3) Find the best approximation in the space \(L\left( {\mathbb{S}^{m - 1} } \right)\) of the function χ η by the space of polynomials P n,m . We present a solution of all three problems for the values h′ and h″ that are neighboring roots of the polynomial in a single variable of degree n + 1 that deviates least from zero in the space L 1 φ (?1, 1) of functions summable on the interval (?1, 1) with ultraspherical weight φ(t) = (1 ? t 2) α , α = (m ? 3)/2. We study the limiting behavior of multiple ergodic averages involving sequences of integers that satisfy some regularity conditions and have polynomial growth. We show that for “typical” choices of Hardy field functions a(t) with polynomial growth, the averages

converge in mean and we determine their limit. For example, this is the case if a(t) = t 3/2, t log t, or t 2 + (log t)2. Furthermore, if {a 1(t), …, a ? (t)} is a “typical” family of logarithmico-exponential functions of polynomial growth, then for every ergodic system, the averages

converge in mean to the product of the integrals of the corresponding functions. For example, this is the case if the functions a i (t) are given by different positive fractional powers of t. We deduce several results in combinatorics. We show that if a(t) is a non-polynomial Hardy field function with polynomial growth, then every set of integers with positive upper density contains arithmetic progressions of the form {m,m + [a(n)], …, m + ?[a(n)]}. Under suitable assumptions, we get a related result concerning patterns of the form {m,m + [a 1(n)], …,m + [a ? (n)]}.

In this paper, for a vertex operator algebra V with an automorphism g of order T, an admissible V-module M and a fixed nonnegative rational number n ∈1/T Z_+, we construct an A_(g,n)(V)-bimodule Ag,n(M) and study its properties, discuss the connections between bimodule A_(g,n)(M) and intertwining operators. In this article, we show that for every f ∈ BMO_L(R~n) with compact support, then there exist g ∈ L~∞(R~n) and a finite Carleson measure μ such that f(x) = g(x) + S_(μ,P)(x) with ∥g∥∞ + |||μ|||c≤ C∥f∥BMO_L(R~n), where S_(μ,P)=∫(R_+~(n+1))Pt(x,y)dμ(y, t),and Pt(x, y) is the kernel of the Poisson semigroup {e-~(t(L)~(1/2))}t0 on L~2(R~n). Conversely, if μ is a Carleson measure, then S_(μ,P) belongs to the space BMO_L(R~n). Such systems include, in particular, switched-type systems, whose matrix A can take values in a given finite set.By using a special Lyapunov function, a bound δ ≤ δ(α0*) ensuring the global asymptotic stability of the system is found. In particular, the system is stable if the last inequality is replaced by a i,j (n) = 0 for j < i.It is shown that pulse-width modulated systems reduce to the uncertain systems under consideration; moreover, in the case of a pulse-width modulation of the first kind, the coefficients of the matrix A are functions of x(n), and in the case of a modulation of the second kind, they are functionals.  相似文献

Any analytic signal fa(e~(it)) can be written as a product of its minimum-phase signal part(the outer function part) and its all-phase signal part(the inner function part). Due to the importance of such decomposition, Kumarasan and Rao(1999), implementing the idea of the Szeg?o limit theorem(see below),proposed an algorithm to obtain approximations of the minimum-phase signal of a polynomial analytic signal fa(e~(it)) = e~(iN0t)M∑k=0a_k~(eikt),(0.1)where a_0≠ 0, a_M≠ 0. Their method involves minimizing the energy E(f_a, h_1, h_2,..., h_H) =1/(2π)∫_0~(2π)|1+H∑k=1h_k~(eikt)|~2|fa(e~(it))|~2dt(0.2) with the undetermined complex numbers hk's by the least mean square error method. In the limiting procedure H →∞, one obtains approximate solutions of the minimum-phase signal. What is achieved in the present paper is two-fold. On one hand, we rigorously prove that, if fa(e~(it)) is a polynomial analytic signal as given in(0.1),then for any integer H≥M, and with |fa(e~(it))|~2 in the integrand part of(0.2) being replaced with 1/|fa(e~(it))|~2,the exact solution of the minimum-phase signal of fa(e~(it)) can be extracted out. On the other hand, we show that the Fourier system e~(ikt) used in the above process may be replaced with the Takenaka-Malmquist(TM) system, r_k(e~(it)) :=((1-|α_k|~2e~(it))/(1-α_ke~(it))~(1/2)∏_(j=1)~(k-1)(e~(it)-α_j/(1-α_je~(it))~(1/2), k = 1, 2,..., r_0(e~(it)) = 1, i.e., the least mean square error method based on the TM system can also be used to extract out approximate solutions of minimum-phase signals for any functions f_a in the Hardy space. The advantage of the TM system method is that the parameters α_1,..., α_n,...determining the system can be adaptively selected in order to increase computational efficiency. In particular,adopting the n-best rational(Blaschke form) approximation selection for the n-tuple {α_1,..., α_n}, n≥N, where N is the degree of the given rational analytic signal, the minimum-phase part of a rational analytic signal can be accurately and efficiently extracted out.  相似文献

Explicit integral expressions are obtained for the joint distribution function between m s and m t and the distribution function of the partial maximum m s . This process is an important limit process in the theory of goodness-of-fit tests. We deal with anomalous diffusions induced by continuous time random walks - CTRW in ?n. We use Banach fixed point method to solve it and prove that under parabolic rescaling of J, the equation tends weakly to the heat equation and that for particular kernels J, the solutions tend to the corresponding temperatures when the scaling parameter approaches 0.

We study the well-posedness of the third-order degenerate differential equation \(\left( {{P_3}} \right):\alpha {\left( {Mu} \right)^{\prime \prime \prime }}\left( t \right) + {\left( {Mu} \right)^{\prime \prime }}\left( t \right) = \beta Au\left( t \right) + f\left( t \right)\), (t ∈ [0, 2p]) with periodic boundary conditions \(Mu\left( 0 \right) = Mu\left( {2\pi } \right),\;Mu'\left( 0 \right) = Mu'\left( {2\pi } \right),\;Mu''\left( 0 \right) = Mu''\left( {2\pi } \right)\), in periodic Lebesgue–Bochner spaces Lp(T,X), periodic Besov spaces Bp,qs(T,X) and periodic Triebel–Lizorkin spaces Fp,qs(T,X), where A, B and M are closed linear operators on a Banach space X satisfying D(A) \( \cap \)D(B) ? D(M) and α, β, γ ∈ R. Using known operator-valued Fourier multiplier theorems, we completely characterize the well-posedness of (P3) in the above three function spaces.  相似文献
