Summary We consider a homogeneous linear differential equation with delays u . +Mu=0,where u takes values in a Banach space and M is a memory with bounded recall under natural Carathéodory conditions, i.e., a linear mapping from the continuous to the locally Bochner-integrable functions such that Mu on [a, b] depends only on u on [a–l, b] for a suitable recall bound l, and M satisfies a reasonable boundedness condition. The presence of the conditional exponential stability behaviour called an exponential dichotomy—which is known to be related to the existence of bounded solutions of the inhomogeneous equation for right-hand sides in a suitable function space — is examined when the equation is periodic; it is shown to be equivalent to a splitting of the spectrum of the transition operators corresponding to a period. In this paper we show a version of the Fueter mapping theorem that can be stated in integral form based on the Cauchy formulas for slice monogenic (or slice regular) functions. More precisely, given a holomorphic function f of a paravector variable, we generate a monogenic function by an integral transform whose kernel is particularly simple. This procedure allows us to define a functional calculus for n‐tuples of commuting operators (called ?‐functional calculus) based on a new notion of spectrum, called ?‐spectrum, for the n‐tuples of operators. In this paper, we introduce a class of linear positive operators based on q-integers. For these operators we give some convergence properties in weighted spaces of continuous functions and present an application to differential equation related to q-derivatives. The parabolic singular integrals along certain compound curves as well as the related maximal operators are considered. Under rather weakened size conditions on the integral kernels both on the unit sphere and in the radial direction, the ‐mapping properties for such operators are established. We study the existence of positive solutions to the operator equation Lx = Nx, where L is a linear Fredholm mapping of index zero and N is a nonlinear operator. Using the properties of cones in Banach spaces and Leray-Schauder degree for completely continuous operators, k-set contractions and condensing mappings, we obtain some refinements of the results established in [3] and [14]. An analogue to the theory of Riesz potentials and Liouville operators in R n for arbitrary fractal d-sets is developed. Corresponding function spaces agree with traces of Euclidean Besov spaces on fractals. By means of associated quadratic forms we construct strongly continuous semigroups with Liouville operators as infinitesimal generator. The case of Dirichlet forms is discussed separately. As an example of related pseudodifferential equations the fractional heat-type equation is solved.  相似文献

A well-known result going back to the 1930s states that all bounded linear operators mapping scalar-valued L 1-spaces into L -spaces are kernel operators and that in fact this relation induces an isometric isomorphism between the space of such operators and the space of all bounded kernels. We extend this result to the case of spaces of vector-valued functions. A recent result due to Arendt and Thomaschewski states that the local operators acting on L p -spaces of functions with values in separable Banach spaces are precisely the multiplication operators. We extend this result to non-separable dual spaces. Moreover, we relate positivity and other order properties of the operators to corresponding properties of the representations.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the notion ofspectral distribution which is a generalization of the spectral measure. This notion is closely related to distribution semigroups and generalized scalar operators. The associated operator (called themomentum of the spectral distribution) has a functional calculus defined for infinitely differentiable functions on the real line. Our main result says thatA generating a smooth distribution group of orderk is equivalent to having ak-times integrated group that are O(¦ k ) oriA being the momentum of a spectral distribution of degreek. We obtain the standard version of Stone's theorem as a special case of this result. The standard properties of a functional calculus together with spectral mapping theorem are derived. Finally, we show how the degree of a spectral distribution is related to the degree of the nilpotent operators which separate its momentum from its scalar part.  相似文献

We study several fundamental operators in harmonic analysis related to Bessel operators, including maximal operators related to heat and Poisson semigroups, Littlewood–Paley–Stein square functions, multipliers of Laplace transform type and Riesz transforms. We show that these are (vector-valued) Calderón–Zygmund operators in the sense of the associated space of homogeneous type, and hence their mapping properties follow from the general theory.  相似文献

In this paper we establish the existence and uniqueness of solutions for nonlinear evolution equations on a Banach space with locally monotone operators, which is a generalization of the classical result for monotone operators. In particular, we show that local monotonicity implies pseudo-monotonicity. The main results are applied to PDE of various types such as porous medium equations, reaction–diffusion equations, the generalized Burgers equation, the Navier–Stokes equation, the 3D Leray-α model and the p-Laplace equation with non-monotone perturbations.  相似文献

This paper deals with a class of second-order nonlinear m-point dynamic equation on time scales with one-dimensional p-Laplacian. Using a fixed point theorem for operators on a cone, we provide sufficient conditions for the existence of at least three positive solutions to the above boundary value problem. The interesting point is that the nonlinear term f is involved with the first-order delta derivative explicitly. Meanwhile, an example is worked out to demonstrate the main results.  相似文献

We present a new and self‐contained theory for mapping properties of the boundary operators for slit diffraction occurring in Sommerfeld's diffraction theory, covering two different cases of the polarisation of the light. This theory is entirely developed in the context of the boundary operators with a Hankel kernel and not based on the corresponding mixed boundary value problem for the Helmholtz equation. For a logarithmic approximation of the Hankel kernel we also study the corresponding mapping properties and derive explicit solutions together with certain regularity results.  相似文献

The spectral decomposition theorem for a class of nonselfadjoint operators in a Hilbert space is obtained in the paper. These operators are the dynamics generators for the systems governed by 1–dim hyperbolic equations with spatially nonhomogeneous coefficients containing first order damping terms and subject to linear nonselfadjoint boundary conditions. These equations and boundary conditions describe, in particular, a spatially nonhomogeneous string subject to a distributed viscous damping and also damped at the boundary points. The main result leading to the spectral decomposition is the fact that the generalized eigenvectors (root vectors) of the above operators form Riesz bases in the corresponding energy spaces. The proofs are based on the transformation operators method. The classical concept of transformation operators is extended to the equation of damped string. Originally, this concept was developed by I. M. Gelfand, B. M. Levitan and V. A. Marchenko for 1–dim Schrödinger equation in connection with the inverse scattering problem. In the classical case, the transformation operator maps the exponential function (stationary wave function of the free particle) into the Jost solution of the perturbed Schrödinger equation. For the equation of a nonhomogeneous damped string, it is natural to introduce two transformation operators (outgoing and incoming transformation operators). The terminology is motivated by an analog with the Lax—Phillips scattering theory. The transformation operators method is used to reduce the Riesz bases property problem for the generalized eigenvectors to the similar problem for a system of nonharmonic exponentials whose complex frequencies are precisely the eigenvalues of our operators. The latter problem is solved based on the spectral asymptotics and known facts about exponential families. The main result presented in the paper means that the generator of a finite string with damping both in the equation and in the boundary conditions is a Riesz spectral operator. The latter result provides a class of nontrivial examples of non—selfadjoint operators which admit an analog of the spectral decomposition. The result also has significant applications in the control theory of distributed parameter systems.  相似文献

The construction of upper and lower bounds to the bilinear quantity g0, f, where f is the solution of an operator equation Tf = f0, requires either an approximation for f or one for T?1. In this paper the question of “best” approximation of T?1 by an operator of the form B = βI, where β is a real constant, is investigated for linear operators that are either self-adjoint or can be related by suitable manipulations to others that are. Particular attention is paid to a special operator, previously studied by Robinson, of importance in predicting the dynamic polarisabilities of quantum-mechanical systems.  相似文献

We suggest an algorithm for seeking recursion operators for nonlinear integrable equations. We find that the recursion operator R can be represented as a ratio of the form R = L1?1 L2, where the linear differential operators L1 and L2 are chosen such that the ordinary differential equation (L2 ?λL1)U = 0 is consistent with the linearization of the given nonlinear integrable equation for any value of the parameter λ ∈ C. To construct the operator L1, we use the concept of an invariant manifold, which is a generalization of a symmetry. To seek L2, we then take an auxiliary linear equation related to the linearized equation by a Darboux transformation. It is remarkable that the equation L1\(\tilde U\) = L2U defines a B¨acklund transformation mapping a solution U of the linearized equation to another solution \(\tilde U\) of the same equation. We discuss the connection of the invariant manifold with the Lax pairs and the Dubrovin equations.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a C*-subalgebra of the algebra of all bounded operators B(l2(X)) on the Hilbert space l2(X)) with one generating element T φ induced by a mapping φ of a set X into itself. We prove that such a C* -algebra has an AF-subalgebra and establish commutativity conditions for the latter. We prove that a C* -algebra generated by a mapping produces a dynamic system such that the corresponding group of automorphisms is invariant on elements of the AF- subalgebra.  相似文献

The Cauchy problem for the Schrödinger equation with an operator degenerating on a half-line and a family of regularized Cauchy problems with uniformly elliptic operators, whose solutions approximate the solution to the degenerate problem, are considered. A set-valued mapping is investigated that takes a bounded operator to a set of partial limits of values of its quadratic form on solutions of the regularized problems when the regularization parameter tends to zero. The dynamics of quantum states are determined by applying an averaging procedure to the set-valued mapping.  相似文献

We consider a class of Volterra-type integral equations in a Hilbert space. The operators of the equation considered appear as time-dependent functions with values in the space of linear continuous operators mapping the Hilbert space into its dual. We are looking for maximal values of cost functionals with respect to the admissible set of operators. The existence of a solution in the continuous and the discretized form is verified. The convergence analysis is performed. The results are applied to a quasistationary problem for an anisotropic viscoelastic body made of a long memory material.  相似文献

The main results of the present paper are related to the use of finite-difference operators for estimating the norms of inverses of differential operators with unbounded operator coefficients. We obtain a new proof of the Gearhart-Prüss spectral mapping theorem for operator semigroups in a Hilbert space and estimate the exponential dichotomy exponents of an operator semigroup.  相似文献
