A set of positive integers is a perfect difference set if every nonzero integer has a unique representation as the difference of two elements of . We classify the quadratic extensions and the finite groups G for which the group ring [G] of G over the ring of integers of K has the property that the group of units of augmentation 1 is hyperbolic. It is well known that certain isotopy classes of oseudo-Anosov maos on a Riemann surface S of non-excluded type can be defined through Dehn twists tα and tβ along simple closed geodesics α and β on S,respectively. Let G be the corresponding Fuchsian group acting on the hyperbolic plane H so that H/G≌S.For any point α∈S,define S = S/{α}.In this article, the author gives explicit parabolic elements of G from which he constructs pseudo-Anosov classes on S that can be projected to a given pseudo-Anosov class on S obtained from Thurston's construction.  相似文献

Assume that 1 ≤ p < ∞ and a function fL p [0, π] has the Fourier series $ \sum\limits_{n = 1}^\infty {a_n } Assume that 1 ≤ p < ∞ and a function fL p [0, π] has the Fourier series cos nx. According to one result of G.H. Hardy, the series cos nx is the Fourier series for a certain function (f) ∈ L p [0, π]. But if 1 < p ≤ ∞ and fL p [0, π], then the series cos nx is the Fourier series for a certain function (f) ∈ L p [0, π]. Similar assertions are true for sine series. This allows one to define the Hardy operator on L p (), 1 ≤ p < ∞, and to define the Bellman operator on L p (), 1 < p ≤ ∞. In this paper we prove that the Bellman operator boundedly acts in VMO(), and the Hardy operator also maps a certain subspace C() onto VMO(). We also prove the invariance of certain classes of functions with given majorants of modules of continuity or best approximations in the spaces H(), L(), VMO() with respect to the Hardy and Bellman operators. V. D. Milman proved in [20] that the product of two strictly singular operators on L p [0, 1] (1 ⩽ p < 1) or on C[0, 1] is compact. In this note we utilize Schreier families in order to define the class of -strictly singular operators, and then we refine the technique of Milman to show that certain products of operators from this class are compact, under the assumption that the underlying Banach space has finitely many equivalence classes of Schreier-spreading sequences. Finally we define the class of -hereditarily indecomposable Banach spaces and we examine the operators on them. This project originated at SUMIRFAS conference in 2005 in Texas A&M University. The behavior of closed polynomials, i.e., polynomials such that the subalgebra is integrally closed in , is studied under extensions of the ground field. Using some properties of closed polynomials, we prove that, after shifting by constants, every polynomial can be factorized into a product of irreducible polynomials of the same degree. We describe the structure of three dimensional sets of lattice points, having a small doubling property. Let be a finite subset of ℤ3 such that dim = 3. If and , then lies on three parallel lines. Moreover, for every three dimensional finite set that lies on three parallel lines, if , then is contained in three arithmetic progressions with the same common difference, having together no more than terms. New solutions of twist equations for the universal enveloping algebras U (An−1) are found. These solutions can be represented as products of full chains of extended Jordanian twists Abelian factors (“rotations”) , and sets of quasi-Jordanian twists . The latter are generalizations of Jordanian twists (with carrier b2) for special deformed extensions of the Hopf algebra U (b2). The carrier subalgebra for the composition is a nonminimal parabolic subalgebra in A n−1 such that . The parabolic twisting elements are obtained in an explicit form. Let R be a (not necessarily local) Noetherian ring and M a finitely generated R-module of finite dimension d. Let be an ideal of R and denote the intersection of all prime ideals . It is shown that

Let be a finite field with q elements, where q is a prime power. Let G be a subgroup of the general linear group over and be the rational function field over . We seek to understand the structure of the rational invariant subfield . In this paper, we prove that is rational (or, purely transcendental) by giving an explicit set of generators when G is the symplectic group. By employing the generalized Riccati transformation technique, we will establish some new oscillation criteria and study the asymptotic behavior of the nonoscillatory solutions of the second-order nonlinear neutral delay dynamic equation

The results improve some oscillation results for neutral delay dynamic equations and in the special case when = ℝ our results cover and improve the oscillation results for second-order neutral delay differential equations established by Li and Liu [Canad. Let be a smooth family of surfaces whose general fibre is a smooth surface of ℙ3 and whose special fibre has two smooth components, intersecting transversally along a smooth curve R. We consider the Universal Severi-Enriques variety on . The general fibre of is the variety of curves on in the linear system with k cusps and δ nodes as singularities. Our problem is to find all irreducible components of the special fibre of . In this paper, we consider only the cases (k, δ) = (0, 1) and (k, δ) = (1, 0). We prove that compactness of the canonical solution operator to restricted to (0, 1)-forms with holomorphic coefficients is equivalent to compactness of the commutator defined on the whole L (0,1)2(Ω), where is the multiplication by and is the orthogonal projection of L (0,1)2(Ω) to the subspace of (0, 1) forms with holomorphic coefficients.
