A one-dimensional conservation law with a power-law flux function and an exponential initial condition is considered. We construct a generalized entropy solution with countably many shock waves. This solution is sign-alternating and one-sided periodic.  相似文献

The solvability of the Cauchy problem for the Nonlinear Nonfocusing Schrödinger equation (NNSE) with almost periodic initial data satisfying certain conditions is studied. It is shown that solutions are uniform almost periodic functions with respect to each variable. An example of initial data with Cantor-type spectrum is given. The Cauchy problem for NNSE is solved in the class of limit periodic functions which are well approximated by periodic ones.  相似文献

The authors study the existence and long-time behavior of weak solutions to the bipolar transient quantum drift-diffusion model,a fourth order parabolic system.Using semi-discretization in time and entropy estimate,the authors get the global existence of nonnegative weak solutions to the one-dimensional model with nonnegative initial and homogenous Neumann(or periodic)boundary conditions.Furthermore,by a logarithmic Sobolev inequality,it is proved that the periodic weak solution exponentially approaches its mean value as time increases to infinity.  相似文献

In this paper the positive and strictly contractive extension problems for almost periodic matrix functions are treated. We present necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of extensions in terms of Toeplitz and Hankel operators on Besicovitch spaces and Lebesgue spaces. Furthermore, when a solution exists a special extension (the band extension) is constructed which enjoys a maximum entropy property. A linear fractional parameterization of the set of all extensions is also provided. The techniques used in the proofs include factorizations of matrix valued almost periodic functions and a general algebraic scheme called the band method.

The existence, semiclassical limit and long-time behavior of weak solutions to the transient quantum drift-diffusion model are studied. Using semi-discretization in time and entropy estimate, we get the global existence and semiclassical limit of nonnegative weak solutions to one-dimensional isentropic model with nonnegative initial and homogeneous Neumann (or periodic) boundary conditions. This paper deals with the relationship between the periodic orbits of continuous maps on graphs and the topological entropy of the map. We show that the topological entropy of a graph map can be approximated by the entropy of its periodic orbits.

In this paper we deal with almost periodic functions with values in a Fréchet space. We apply obtained results to prove the existence of solutions of the initial value problem as well as the Volterra integral equation in this class of functions. We consider the initial‐value problem for the regularized Boussinesq‐type equation in the class of periodic functions. Validity of the weakly nonlinear solution, given in terms of two counterpropagating waves satisfying the uncoupled Ostrovsky equations, is examined. We prove analytically and illustrate numerically that the improved accuracy of the solution can be achieved at the timescales of the Ostrovsky equation if solutions of the linearized Ostrovsky equations are incorporated into the asymptotic solution. Compared to the previous literature, we show that the approximation error can be controlled in the energy space of periodic functions and the nonzero mean values of the periodic functions can be naturally incorporated in the justification analysis.  相似文献

In this paper we give a characterization of the notion of entropy solutions of some flux limited diffusion equations for which we can prove that the solution is a function of bounded variation in space and time. This includes the case of the so-called relativistic heat equation and some generalizations. For them we prove that the jump set consists of fronts that propagate at the speed given by Rankine-Hugoniot condition and we give on it a geometric characterization of the entropy conditions. Since entropy solutions are functions of bounded variation in space once the initial condition is, to complete the program we study the time regularity of solutions of the relativistic heat equation under some conditions on the initial datum. An analogous result holds for some other related equations without additional assumptions on the initial condition.  相似文献

The authors study the tractability and strong tractability of a multivariate integration problem in the worst case setting for weighted l-periodic continuous functions spaces of d coordinates with absolutely convergent Fourier series.The authors reduce the initial error by a factor ε for functions from the unit ball of the weighted periodic contin- uous functions spaces.Tractability is the minimal number of function samples required to solve the problem in polynomial in ε~(-1)and d.and the strong tractability is the pres- ence of only a polynomial dependence in ε.This problem has been recently studied for quasi-Monte Carlo quadrature rules.quadrature rules with non-negative coefficients. and rules for which all quadrature weights are arbitrary for weighted Korobov spaces of smooth periodic functions of d variables.The authors show that the tractability and strong tractability of a multivariate integration problem in worst case setting hold for the weighted periodic continuous functions spaces with absolutely convergent Fourier series under the same assumptions as in Ref.[14]on the weights of the Korobov space for quasi-Monte Carlo rules and rules for which all quadrature weights are non-negative.The arguments are not constructive.  相似文献

In general, weakly nonlinear high frequency almost periodic wave trains for systems of hyperbolic conservation laws interact and resonate to leading order. In earlier work the first two authors and J. Hunter developed simplified asymptotic equations describing this resonant interaction. In the important special case of compressible fluid flow in one or several space dimensions, these simplified asymptotic equations are essentially two inviscid Burgers equations for the nonlinear sound waves, coupled by convolution with a known kernel given by the sum of the initial vortex strength and the derivative of the initial entropy. Here we develop some of the remarkable new properties of the solutions of this system for resonant acoustics. These new features include substantial almost periodic exchange of energy between the nonlinear sound waves, the existence of smooth periodic wave trains, and the role of such smooth wave patterns in eliminating or suppressing the strong temporal decay of sawtooth profile solutions of the decoupled inviscid Burgers equations. Our approach combines detailed numerical modeling to elucidate the new phenomena together with rigorous analysis to obtain exact solutions as well as other elementary properties of the solutions of this system.  相似文献

With mild restrictions on the initial data, we show well-posedness of the initial value problem for systems of conservation laws in one space variable with real and equal characteristic speeds and a deficiency of one corresponding eigenvector. The obtained weak solutions assume values as Borel measures at each time after a smooth solution ceases to exist. The concept of entropy density-flux functions is extended to such systems. Finally, we show that systems with well-posed initial value problems, admitting weak solutions of this type, necessarily satisfy these structural assumptions.  相似文献

We consider the three-dimensional Euler equations of gas dynamics on a bounded periodic domain and a bounded time interval. We prove that Lax–Friedrichs scheme can be used to produce a sequence of solutions with ever finer resolution for any appropriately bounded (but not necessarily small) initial data. Furthermore, with some technical assumptions, e.g. that the density remains strictly positive in the sequence of solutions at hand, a subsequence converges to an entropy solution. We provide numerical evidence for these results by computing a sensitive Kelvin–Helmholtz problem.  相似文献

Consider a difference equation which takes the k-th largest output of m functions of the previous m terms of the sequence. If the functions are also allowed to change periodically as the difference equation evolves, this is analogous to a differential equation with periodic forcing. A large class of such non-autonomous difference equations are shown to converge to a periodic limit, which is independent of the initial condition. Two classes of multidimensional phase control systems with differentiable vector periodic functions are considered, the class of continuous systems described by ordinary differential equations and the class of discrete systems described by difference equations. The number of cycle slips for angular coordinates in phase systems with differentiable nonlinearities is studied. The study is based on the direct Lyapunov method and uses periodic Lyapunov functions, extensions of the phase space of the system, and the Yakubovich-Kalman lemma. This lemma provides necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of Lyapunov functions by using the transfer matrix of the linear part of the system. As a result, for phase systems possessing global asymptotics, frequency criteria making it possible to sharpen estimates for the deviation of angular coordinates from their initial values are obtained. These criteria contain multiparameter frequency inequalities with variable parameters satisfying certain algebraic inequalities.  相似文献

It is known that unstable periodic orbits of a given map give information about the natural measure of a chaotic attractor. In this work we show how these orbits can be used to calculate the density function of the first Poincaré returns. The close relation between periodic orbits and the Poincaré returns allows for estimates of relevant quantities in dynamical systems, as the Kolmogorov–Sinai entropy, in terms of this density function. Since return times can be trivially observed and measured, our approach to calculate this entropy is highly oriented to the treatment of experimental systems. We also develop a method for the numerical computation of unstable periodic orbits.  相似文献

For general initial data we prove the global existence and weak stability of weak solutions of the Boltzmann equation for Fermi-Dirac particles in a periodic box for very soft potentials (−5<γ?−3) with a weak angular cutoff. In particular the Coulomb interaction (γ=−3) with the weak angular cutoff is included. The conservation of energy and moment estimates are also proven under a further angular cutoff. The proof is based on the entropy inequality, velocity averaging compactness of weak solutions, and various continuity properties of general Boltzmann collision integral operators.  相似文献
