We prove several relations on multiple Hurwitz–Riemann zeta functions. Using analytic continuation of these multiple Hurwitz–Riemann zeta functions, we quote at negative integers Euler's nonlinear relation for generalized Bernoulli polynomials and numbers. As an application, we give a general convolution identity for Bernoulli numbers.  相似文献

We obtain four Hecke-type double sums for three of Ramanujan’s third order mock theta functions. We discuss how these four are related to the new mock theta functions of Andrews’ work on q-orthogonal polynomials and Bringmann, Hikami, and Lovejoy’s work on unified Witten–Reshetikhin–Turaev invariants of certain Seifert manifolds. We then prove identities between these new mock theta functions by first expressing them in terms of the universal mock theta function.  相似文献

In view of the Bailey lemma and the relations between Hecke-type sums and Appell–Lerch sums given by Hickerson and Mortenson, we find that many Bailey pairs given by Slater can be used to deduce mock theta functions. Therefore, by constructing generalized Bailey pairs with more parameters, we derive some new families of mock theta functions. Meanwhile, some identities between new mock theta functions and classical ones are established. Furthermore, based on the proofs of the main theorems, many q-hypergeometric transformations are obtained.  相似文献

Summary. The concept of singular value decompositions is a valuable tool in the examination of ill-posed inverse problems such as the inversion of the Radon transform. A singular value decomposition depends on the determination of suitable orthogonal systems of eigenfunctions of the operators , . In this paper we consider a new approach which generalizes this concept. By application of biorthogonal instead of orthogonal functions we are able to apply a larger class of function sets in order to account for the structure of the eigenfunction spaces. Although it is preferable to use eigenfunctions it is still possible to consider biorthogonal function systems which are not eigenfunctions of the operator. With respect to the Radon transform for functions with support in the unit ball we apply the system of Appell polynomials which is a natural generalization of the univariate system of Gegenbauer (ultraspherical) polynomials to the multivariate case. The corresponding biorthogonal decompositions show some advantages in comparison with the known singular value decompositions. Vice versa by application of our decompositions we are able to prove new properties of the Appell polynomials. Received October 19, 1993  相似文献

In this paper, we study the Ruelle zeta function and the Selberg zeta functions attached to the fundamental representations for real hyperbolic manifolds with cusps. In particular, we show that they have meromorphic extensions to \mathbbC{\mathbb{C}} and satisfy functional equations. We also derive the order of the singularity of the Ruelle zeta function at the origin. To prove these results, we completely analyze the weighted unipotent orbital integrals on the geometric side of the Selberg trace formula when test functions are defined for the fundamental representations.  相似文献

The MacWilliams identity for the complete m-spotty weight enumerators of byte-organized binary codes is a generalization of that for the Hamming weight enumerators of binary codes. In this paper, Jacobi forms are obtained by substituting theta series into the complete m-spotty weight enumerators of binary Type II codes. The Mellin transforms of those theta series provide functional equations for partial Epstein zeta functions which are summands of classical Epstein zeta functions associated with quadratic forms. Then, it is observed that the coefficient matrices appearing in those functional equations are exactly the same as the transformation matrices in the MacWilliams identity for the complete m-spotty weight enumerators of binary self-dual codes.  相似文献

The use of a non‐commutative algebra in hypercomplex function theory requires a large variety of different representations of polynomials suitably adapted to the solution of different concrete problems. Naturally arises the question of their relationships and the advantages or disadvantages of different types of polynomials. In this sense, the present paper investigates the intrinsic relationship between two different types of monogenic Appell polynomials. Several authors payed attention to the construction of complete sets of monogenic Appell polynomials, orthogonal with respect to a certain inner product, and used them advantageously for the study of problems in 3D‐elasticity and other problems. Our goal is to show that, as consequence of the binomial nature of those generalized Appell polynomials, their inner structure is determined by interesting combinatorial relations in which the central binomial coefficients play a special role. We prove a generalization of the Kibble–Slepian formula (for Hermite polynomials) and its unitary analogue involving the 2D Hermite polynomials recently proved in [16]. We derive integral representations for the 2D Hermite polynomials which are of independent interest. Several new generating functions for 2D q-Hermite polynomials will also be given.  相似文献

In this paper we propose an extension of the proximal point method to solve minimization problems with quasiconvex locally Lipschitz objective functions on Hadamard manifolds. To reach this goal, we use the concept of Clarke subdifferential on Hadamard manifolds and assuming that the function is bounded from below, we prove the global convergence of the sequence generated by the method to a critical point of the function.  相似文献

In this note we discuss a few properties of transnormal Finsler functions, i.e., the natural generalization of distance functions and isoparametric Finsler functions. Multidimensional persistence mostly studies topological features of shapes by analyzing the lower level sets of vector‐valued functions, called filtering functions. As is well known, in the case of scalar‐valued filtering functions, persistent homology groups can be studied through their persistent Betti numbers, that is, the dimensions of the images of the homomorphisms induced by the inclusions of lower level sets into each other. Whenever such inclusions exist for lower level sets of vector‐valued filtering functions, we can consider the multidimensional analog of persistent Betti numbers. Varying the lower level sets, we obtain that persistent Betti numbers can be seen as functions taking pairs of vectors to the set of non‐negative integers. In this paper, we prove stability of multidimensional persistent Betti numbers. More precisely, we prove that small changes of the vector‐valued filtering functions imply only small changes of persistent Betti numbers functions. This result can be obtained by assuming the filtering functions to be just continuous. Multidimensional stability opens the way to a stable shape comparison methodology based on multidimensional persistence. In order to obtain our stability theorem, some other new results are proved for continuous filtering functions. They concern the finiteness of persistent Betti numbers for vector‐valued filtering functions and the representation via persistence diagrams of persistent Betti numbers, as well as their stability, in the case of scalar‐valued filtering functions. Finally, from the stability of multidimensional persistent Betti numbers, we obtain a lower bound for the natural pseudo‐distance. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The Curtiss theorem deals with the relation between the weak convergence of probability measures on the line and the convergence of theirmoment generating functions in a neighborhood of zero. We present a multidimensional generalization of this result. To this end, we consider arbitrary σ-finite measures whose moment generating functions exist in a domain of multidimensional Euclidean space not necessarily containing zero. In this article, we first give some basic properties of generalized Hermite polynomials associated with parabolic cylinder functions. We next use Weisner? group theoretic method and operational rules method to establish new generating functions for these generalized Hermite polynomials. The operational methods we use allow us to obtain unilateral, bilinear and bilateral generating functions by using the same procedure. Recently, Srivastava and Pintér proved addition theorems for the generalized Bernoulli and Euler polynomials. Luo and Srivastava obtained the anologous results for the generalized Apostol–Bernoulli polynomials and the generalized Apostol–Euler polynomials. Finally, Tremblay et al. gave analogues of the Srivastava–Pintér addition theorem for general family of Bernoulli polynomials. In this paper, we obtain Srivastava–Pintér type theorems for 2D‐Appell Polynomials. We also give the representation of 2D‐Appell Polynomials in terms of the Stirling numbers of the second kind and 1D‐Appell polynomials. Furthermore, we introduce the unified 2D‐Apostol polynomials. In particular, we obtain some relations between that family of polynomials and the generalized Hurwitz–Lerch zeta function as well as the Gauss hypergeometric function. We give series expansions for the Barnes multiple zeta functions in terms of rational functions whose numerators are complex-order Bernoulli polynomials, and whose denominators are linear. We also derive corresponding rational expansions for Dirichlet L-functions and multiple log gamma functions in terms of higher order Bernoulli polynomials. These expansions naturally express many of the well-known properties of these functions. As corollaries many special values of these transcendental functions are expressed as series of higher order Bernoulli numbers.

We prove characterizations of Appell polynomials by means of symmetric property. For these polynomials, we establish a simple linear expression in terms of Bernoulli and Euler polynomials. As applications, we give interesting examples. In addition, from our study, we obtain Fourier expansions of Appell polynomials. This result recovers Fourier expansions known for Bernoulli and Euler polynomials and obtains the Fourier expansions for higher order Bernoulli–Euler's one.  相似文献

Heegner divisors play an important role in number theory. However, little is known on whether a modular form has Heegner zeros. In this paper, we start to study this question for a family of classical theta functions, and prove a quantitative result, which roughly says that many of these theta functions have a Heegner zero of discriminant . This leads to some interesting questions on the arithmetic of certain elliptic curves, which we also address here.
