The relativistic field theory model of the deuteron suggested previously is revised and applied to the calculation of the cross sections of the low-energ radiative neutron-proton capture n + p → D + γ and the low-energy two-proton fusion p + p → D + e+ + νe. For the low-energy data and the potential model prediction. In the case of the two-proton fusion the cross section obtained is 2.9 times as much as that given by the potential approach. The obtained result is discussed in connection with the solar neutrino problem.  相似文献

An upper limit of 3 × 10?42Eν cm2 per electron, at 90% confidence level, has been obtained for the cross section of the process νμ + e?νμ + e?, interpreted in the usual V-A framework, for an electron recoil energy larger than 0.3 GeV. This estimate is based on the observation of one candidate event in exposures of Gargamelle to the CERN PS neutrino beam.  相似文献

A calculation of the cross section for the reaction νγνμ + μ ? which is induced by the neutrino magnetic moment, is described in detail. The expression obtained for this cross section is used to determine the asymptotic behavior of the cross section for the reaction νNνNμ + μ ? by the Weiszäcker-Williams method. It is shown that, upon going over from the nucleus involved to a structureless particle (for example, an electron), the resulting expression is doubled owing to integration with respect to the virtual-photon momentum over the region m μ?Q?E ν, where the Weiszäcker-Williams approximation is not applicable. The method developed here makes it possible to obtain straightforwardly the known asymptotic expressions for the cross sections describing the reactions eNeNμ + μ ? and e + e ?W + W ? e + e ?.  相似文献

Bounds on 〈E?n〉/〈E+n〈, 〉E+E?〈/〉E22〈 and 〈E+E?〉/〈E+〉〈E?〉 are direved for the processes νμN → μ?μ+(e+) + X and μN → μ?μ+ + X if dileptons are mediated by a spin-12 heavy neutral lepton L0. The bounds are shown to be independent of the production mechanism and mass of L0. Useful conditional bounds are obtained relating the bounded quantities, which give information about the structure of the weak current responsible for L0 decay.  相似文献

The first observation of the reaction νμ + e?μ? + νe has been made in the bubble chamber Gargamelle exposed to the CERN SPS wide-band neutrino beam. A signal of 26 ± 6 events has been found. This is 0.90 ± 0.20 times the prediction of the V - A theory.  相似文献

Solar model independent tests of the vacuum oscillation and MSW solutions of the solar neutrino problem are considered. Detailed predictions for time (seasonal) variations of the signals due to neutrino oscillations in vacuum are given for the future solar neutrino detectors (SNO, Super-Kamiokande, BOREXINO, HELLAZ). Results on the distortions of the spectra of 8B neutrinos, and of e from the reaction ν + eν + e induced by 8B neutrinos, are presented in the cases of vacuum oscillations or MSW transitions for a large number of values of the relevant parameters. The possibilities to distinguish between the vacuum oscillation, the MSW adiabatic, and the MSW nonadiabatic transitions in the future solar neutrino experiments are discussed.  相似文献

The reactionse + de' + pS + p + π?ande + de' + nS + n + π+ were measured detecting electron and pion in coincidence at an invariant hadronic mass of 2.19 GeV. The measurements were performed at electron four-momentum transfer squared of f2 = 0.70 and 1.35 GeV2 in the range of t = (γv?π)2 between tminand ?1.0 GeV2. We show how effectively effective quantum field theories work in nuclear physics. Using the physically transparent cut-off regularization, we study the simplest nuclear systems of two nucleons for both bound and scattering states at a momentum scale much less than the pion mass. We consider all the static properties of the deuteron, the two-nucleon scattering phase-shifts, the n + pd + γ process at thermal energy and the solar proton fusion process p + pd + e+ + νe, and we demonstrate that these are all described with great accuracy in the expansion to the next-to-leading order. We explore how a “new” degree of freedom enters in an effective theory by turning on and off the role of the pion in the Lagrangian.  相似文献

Annihilation of e+e? into final states with a single electron has been studied with the PLUTO detector at the DORIS storage ring at CMS energies from 3.6 to 5 GeV. In the sample of 4-prong events without any detected photon we observe 21 events which we assign to the reaction e+e?τ+τ?ννe + ν?0π. We obtain a branching ratio for τ+ν?0π+ of 0.050 ± 0.015 with an overall systematic uncertainty of 30%. The data are consistent with the ?π coming from an A1 meson.  相似文献

The electron capture decay 163Ho163DyHe occurs with a record low energy release, Q ~ 2.6 keV. The daughter DyH atom has an electron hole, H, and predominantly decays by electron ejection DyH→DyH1H2+e?. We investigate the neutrino mass sensitivity of the electron spectrum in the overall process Ho→DyH1H2+e?+νe. In this spectrum, the fraction of events sensitive to a fixed non-zero neutrino mass in one to two orders of magnitude smaller than in the standard case of tritium β decay. But the electron energies in 163Ho decay are considerably smaller than in 3H decay (Q ~ 18 keV). This suggests experiments whose energy resolution could be much better than that of the magnetic spectrometers conventionally used in the tritium case.  相似文献

Optimal bounds for the pion electromagnetic form factor F(t) below threshold and on the pion mean-square charge radius 〈rπ2〉 = 6F'(0) are derived. Use is made of analyticity arguments and of experimental data on F(t) from e+e?π+π? as well as e?p → e?nπ+. The method accounts in an approximate way for the statistical errors of the experimental information. Numerical results for F(t) are calculated for the CEA as well as the DESY electroproduction data.  相似文献

In the SKAT bubble chamber neutrino experiment production of a short-living neutral particle with mass (1.4?m?2.5) GeV/c2 and lifetime τ≈6×10?12 s has been detected. The event may be interpreted as production and decay of the heavy lepton M0μ?+e++νe with mass (1.4?mM0?2.1) GeV/c2. It might also be the production of a charmed particle D0→e++τ?+νe (D0→e++π?+νe) with mass 1.4?mD0?2.5) GeV/c2 in a non-diagonal neutral current. The electron-antineutrino spectrum has been measured at a position 8.75 m from the “point-like” core of the ILL 235U fission reactor, using the reaction νe + p → e+ + n. Positrons and neutrons were detected in coincidence by means of a low-background liquid scintillator and a 3He detector system. The observed neutron correlated positron spectrum is consistent with theoretical predictions assuming no neutrino oscillations. Upper limits for the oscillation parameter are presented.  相似文献

Solar neutrinos from the decay of 8B have been detected at the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) via the charged current (CC) reaction on deuterium and by the elastic scattering (ES) of electrons. The CC reaction is sensitive exclusively to ν e, while the ES reaction also has a small sensitivity to ν μ and ν τ. The flux of ν e from 8B decay measured by the CC reaction rate is φ CC(ν e )=[1.75±0.07(stat.) ?0.11 +0.12 (syst.)×0.05(theor.)]×106cm?2s?1. Assuming no flavor transformation, the flux inferred from the ES reaction rate is φ ES(ν x )=[2.39±0.34(stat.) ?0.14 +0.16 (syst.)]×106cm?2s?1. Comparison of φ CC(ν e) to the Super-Kamiokande collaboration’s precision value of φ ES(ν x) yields a 3.3σ difference, assuming the systematic uncertainties are normally distributed, providing evidence that there is a nonelectron flavor active neutrino component in the solar flux. The total flux of active 8B neutrinos is thus determined to be (5.44±0.99)×106 cm?2 s?1, in close agreement with the predictions of solar models.  相似文献

The cross sections for e+e? → e+(μ+ + non showering track + any photons have been measured for cm energies between 3.1 GeV and 5.2 GeV. We observe τ-pair production below the thresholdfor charm production and determine the τ mass to be 1.807 ± 0.020 GeV from a fit to the energy dependence of the cross section. The ration of the leptonic branching ratios Bμ/Be = 0.92 ± 0.32 is consistent with eμ-universality. The following branching ratios are determined for a V-A coupling: B(τ → ντeν) = B(τ → ντμν) = 0.182 + 0.028. B(τντ + charged hadron + any photons) = 0.29 ± 0.11, B(τντ + three or more charged hadrons + any photons) = 0.35 ± 0.11.  相似文献

We discuss the problem of testing the intermediate vector boson effects in the reactions e?e+ → e?e+ + hadrons, e?e+ → e?e+ + μ?μ+, e?p → e?x with the next generation of accelerators, and conclude that these reactions must be considered. The differential cross sections for the one lepton at large four-momentum transfer are obtained, and a significant contribution of Z effects is found.  相似文献

The left-right asymmetric model featuring the bidoublet and two triplets of Higgs fields is investigated. It was established that, from an analysis of the reaction l ?γ → W ?νl, it is possible to deduce not only information about the properties of the singly charged Higgs bosons $\tilde \delta ^{( - )} $ and h (?) but also an answer to the question of whether the neutrino is a Majorana or a Dirac particle. The processes $f_i \bar f_j \to \Delta _1^{( - - )} \tilde \delta ^{( + )} $ and e?μ? → Δ 1,2 (—) γ leading to the production of doubly charged Higgs bosons are investigated. It is shown that information about the properties of singly charged Higgs bosons can also be obtained by studying the ultrahighenergy cosmic neutrinos from the reaction e ?ν e →μ?νμ.  相似文献

The results of a direct measurement of the counting rate for solar neutrinos from the electron-capture process on 7Be, 7Be(e ?, ν e )7Li(E ν = 0.862 MeV), with the low-background scintillation detector BOREXINO are presented. This is the first ever real-time observation of a signal from solar neutrinos of energy below 1 MeV. The counting rate for monoenergetic beryllium neutrinos in the BOREXINO detector proved to be 47 ± 7 (stat.) ± 12 (syst.) counts/(day × 100 t), which is in agreement with the predictions of the standard solar model and the hypothesis of neutrino oscillations in matter with parameters in the LMA region.  相似文献

The behaviour of the different decay modes of the charged heavy lepton τ versus the neutrino ντ-mass is analyzed in detail. The τ→ντ A 1 and τ→ντ K * decay rates have been evaluated using finite energy sum rules. The τ→ντ+ “Hadron Continuum” decay rate has been estimated within the framework of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). We find that the branching ratios of the semi-leptonic processes: τ→ντρ, τ→ντπ and τ→ντ+ “Hadron Continuum” are very sensitive to the value of the ντ-mass. Thus a more precise measurement of these branching ratios could provide an improved upper bound for the neutrino ντ-mass.  相似文献
