The – angular correlation in the + decay of 18Ne and 14O has been investigated using a new experimental technique. The technique is based on the precise measurement of the energy Doppler shift of a -quantum following the ± decay. The measurement with the 18Ne isotope gives the – angular correlation coefficient = +1.06 ±0.19 which corresponds to a constraint on the scalar interaction of {|C_S|2+|C'_S|2} 0.29|C V|. An inter-atomic interaction between the 14O daughter atom (14N) and a CO complex has been studied in a measurement with the 14O isotope.  相似文献

Refractive-index and optical-absorption spectra of Bi-substituted yttrium iron garnet films, epitaxially grown by liquid-phase epitaxy, have been measured in the spectral regime 0.26 m1.9 m by thin-film interference for 0.52 m and by ellipsometry for0.52 m. The Y3–x–y Bi x Pb y Fe5–z Pt z O12 films contain bismuth in the range Ox 1.42, lead in the range 0.01 y0.08 and platinum in the range 0.005<=z0.03. There is satisfactory coincidence between the results from ellipsometry and thin-film interference in the overlapping wavelength region. The materials investigated are the same as reported earlier from this laboratory in ter mof their magnetic and magnetooptic properties.  相似文献

This paper deals with the trend to equilibrium of solutions to the spacehomogeneous Boltzmann equation for Maxwellian molecules with angular cutoff as well as with infinite-range forces. The solutions are considered as densities of probability distributions. The Tanaka functional is a metric for the space of probability distributions, which has previously been used in connection with the Boltzmann equation. Our main result is that, if the initial distribution possesses moments of order 2+, then the convergence to equilibrium in his metric is exponential in time. In the proof, we study the relation between several metrics for spaces of probability distributions, and relate this to the Boltzmann equation, by proving that the Fourier-transformed solutions are at least as regular as the Fourier transform of the initial data. This is also used to prove that even if the initial data only possess a second moment, then v>R f(v, t) v2 dv0 asR, and this convergence is uniform in time.  相似文献

We consider the mechanism of macroscopic polarization of semiconducting plates owing to the interaction of free carriers with an impurity level, in which role the level of the residual impurity of compensated semiconductors may appear. This mechanism, in combination with the diffusion-drift mechanism of polarization, results in additional dispersion of the real () and imaginary () parts of the dielectric permittivity, this being particularly significant for semiconductors of thickness smaller than the screening length Ls of free carriers. The character of the behavior of and depends on the relation between the Maxwell relation time M and the times of carrier capture: c and ejection e by an impurity center. For cetm and (/Ls) e/c1 the dispersion of and is the same as for thick plates (/Ls1). In a systematic study of the transfer process to sulphur dioxide, in seven different H2 + SO2 gas mixtures, the time spectra of the muonic sulphur X-rays yield muon transfer rates to the SO2 molecule, deduced from the lifetimes of the p atoms, which agree all well with each other. The muonic oxygen time spectra show an additional structure as if p atoms of another kind were present. Reduced transfer ratesO are reproducible if one uses the model of ephemeral p atoms. The intensity ratios between the different kinds of p atoms are also discussed in the framework of this model and the one of black and white p atoms.  相似文献

A two-dimensional quantum Hall system is studied for a wide class of potentials including single-body random potentials and repulsive electron–electron interactions. We assume that there exists a nonzero excitation gap above the ground state(s), and then the conductance is derived from the linear perturbation theory with a sufficiently weak electric field. Under these two assumptions, we prove that the Hall conductance xy and the diagonal conductance yy satisfy | xy+e 2 /h|const·L –1/2 and | yy|const·L –1/12. Here e 2/h is the universal conductance with the charge –e of the electron and the Planck constant h; is the filling factor of the Landau level; and L is the linear dimension of the system. In the thermodynamic limit, our results show xy=–e 2 /h and yy=0. The former implies that integral and fractional filling factors with a gap lead to, respectively, integral and fractional quantizations of the Hall conductance.  相似文献

Scale invariance is considered in the context of gravitational theories where the action, in the first order formalism, is of the form S= L 1 d 4 x+ L 2 d 4 x where the volume element d 4 x is independent of the metric. For global scale invariance, a dilaton has to be introduced, with non-trivial potentials V()=f 1 e in L 1 and U()=f 2 e 2 in L 2 . This leads to non-trivial mass generation and a potential for which is interesting for inflation. Interpolating models for natural transition from inflation to a slowly accelerated universe at late times appear naturally. This is also achieved for Quintessential models, which are scale invariant but formulated with the use of volume element d 4 x alone. For closed strings and branes (including the supersymmetric cases), the modified measure formulation is possible and does not require the introduction of a particular scale (the string or brane tension) from the begining but rather these appear as integration constants.  相似文献

For nonsoft potential collision kernels with angular cutoff, we prove that under the initial condition f 0(v)(1+|v|2+|logf 0(v)|)L 1(R 3), the classical formal entropy identity holds for all nonnegative solutions of the spatially homogeneous Boltzmann equation in the class L ([0, ); L 1 2(R 3))C 1([0, ); L 1(R 3)) [where L 1 s (R 3)={ff(v)(1+|v|2) s/2L 1(R 3)}], and in this class, the nonincrease of energy always implies the conservation of energy and therefore the solutions obtained all conserve energy. Moreover, for hard potentials and the hard-sphere model, a local stability result for conservative solutions (i.e., satisfying the conservation of mass, momentum, and energy) is obtained. As an application of the local stability, a sufficient and necessary condition on the initial data f 0 such that the conservative solutions f belong to L 1 loc([0, ); L 1 2+ (R 3)) is also given.  相似文献

We consider the analogy between torsion line defects and vortex lines in a superconductor to suggest that the electric charge and masses of elementary particles may have a geometrical origin. Just as the field vanishes everywhere in a superconductor except along the vortex line, where the flux is confined, we have the torsion being concentrated only along the topological defects, giving rise to charge as well as mass. The mass is related to the string tension (c 2/G) and charge is connected with the gravitational permeability (G/c 2), both induced by torsion.  相似文献

It is shown that aD-component Euclidean quantum field, =(1,...,D), with ||4+|2| interaction, can be obtained as a limit of (ferromagnetic) classical rotator models; this extends a result of Simon and Griffiths from the caseD=1. For these Euclidean field models, it is then shown that a Lee-Yang theorem applies forD=2 or 3 and that Griffiths' second inequality is valid forD=2; a complete proof is included of a Lee-Yang theorem for plane rotator and classical Heisenberg models. We consider the usual one-dimensional tight-binding Anderson model with the random potential taking only two values, 0 and, with probabilityp and 1–p, 0<p<1. We show that the Liapunov exponent (E), E R. diverges as uniformly in the energyE. Using a result of Carmona, Klein, and Martinelli, this proves that for large enough, the integrated density of states is singular continuous. We also compute explicitly the exact asymptotics for a dense set of energies and we compare the results with numerical simulations.  相似文献

We consider the problem of finding the quantum mechanical phase associated with the propagation of a particle in a given external gravitational field, and conclude that it ism ds. In weak fieldsh this allows us to calculate the gravitationally induced phase on a freely traveling particle as 1/2 h P dx whereP is the ordinary momentum. This formula has the expected Newtonian limit and is then used to calculate effects in matter wave interferometry such as those due to gravity waves and the dragging of the ether frame by rotating bodies. Light wave interferometry is then considered and is shown to be also described by 1/2 h K dx , whereK is the wave vector of the light, and the integral is along the path of the ray. Matter and light wave interferometry are compared in various cases.A preliminary version of this work was presented at the Grenoble Workshop on Neutron Interferometry, June 1978.  相似文献
