Photoinduced charge separation is a fundamental step in photochemical energy conversion. In the design of molecularly based systems for light-to-chemical energy conversion, this step is studied through the construction of two- and three-component systems (dyads and triads) having suitable electron donor and acceptor moieties placed at specific positions on a charge-transfer chromophore. The most extensively studied chromophores in this regard are ruthenium(II) tris(diimine) systems with a common 3MLCT excited state, as well as related ruthenium(II) bis(terpyridyl) systems. This Forum contribution focuses on dyads and triads of an alternative chromophore, namely, platinum(II) di- and triimine systems having acetylide ligands. These d8 chromophores all possess a 3MLCT excited state in which the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital is a pi orbital on the heterocyclic aromatic ligand. The excited-state energies of these Pt(II) chromophores are generally higher than those found for the ruthenium(II) tris(diimine) systems, and the directionality of the charge transfer is more certain. The first platinum diimine bis(arylacetylide) triad, constructed by attaching phenothiazene donors to the arylacetylide ligands and a nitrophenyl acceptor to 5-ethynylphenanthroline of the chromophore, exhibited a charge-separated state of 75-ns duration. The first Pt(tpy)(arylacetylide)+-based triad contains a trimethoxybenzamide donor and a pyridinium acceptor and has been structurally characterized. The triad has an edge-to-edge separation between donor and acceptor fragments of 27.95 Angstroms. However, while quenching of the emission is complete for this system, transient absorption (TA) studies reveal that charge transfer does not move onto the pyridinium acceptor. A new set of triads described in detail here and having the formula [Pt(NO2phtpy)(p-C triple-bond C-C6H4CH2(PTZ-R)](PF6), where NO2phtpy = 4'-{4-[2-(4-nitrophenyl)vinyl]phenyl}-2,2';6',2'-terpyridine and PTZ = phenothiazine with R = H, OMe, possess an unsaturated linkage between the chromophore and a nitrophenyl acceptor. While the parent chromophore [Pt(ttpy)(C triple-bond CC6H5)]PF6 is brightly luminescent in a fluid solution at 298 K, the triads exhibit complete quenching of the emission, as do the related donor-chromophore (D-C) dyads. Electrochemically, the triads and D-C dyads exhibit a quasi-reversible oxidation wave corresponding to the PTZ ligand, while the R = H triad and related C-A dyad display a facile quasi-reversible reduction assignable to the acceptor. TA spectroscopy shows that one of the triads possesses a long-lived charge-separated state of approximately 230 ns.  相似文献

Three new luminescent cyclometalated Pt(II) complexes, [Pt(L)Cl] (1), [Pt2(L-)2] (2), and [Pt(L)(PPh3)]ClO4 (3.ClO4) (where HL=2-phenyl-6-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-pyridine), were synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography. HL represents a new class of C,N,Npyrazolyl cyclometalating ligands containing a Cphenyl, a Npyridyl, and a Npyrazolyl donor moiety, as well as a 1-pyrazolyl-NH, that can also be available for metal coordination and other chemical interactions. Complex 1 possesses intense intraligand transitions at 275-375 nm and moderately intense metal-to-ligand charge transfer (1MLCT) (dpi(Pt)-->pi*(L)) transition at 380-410 nm. The room temperature solid-state emission lambdamax of 1 occurs at 580 nm and is attributable to the 3MMLCT (dsigma*(Pt)-->pi*(L)) transition. It also displays strong phosphorescence in acetonitrile solutions at room temperature with an emission lambdamax at 514 nm, which can be tentatively assigned to the 3MLCT (pi*(L)-->dpi(Pt)) transition. Complex 1 can be deprotonated in organic solvents to yield a cycloplatinated dimer 2, which shows a relatively high room-temperature luminescent quantum yield of 0.59 in DMF (lambdamax=509 nm). Substitution of the ancillary chloro-ligand in 1 by triphenylphosphine yields 3, which also possesses a good room-temperature luminescent quantum yield of 0.52 in DMF (lambdamax=504 nm) and a better solubility in water. Complex 3 is synthesized to demonstrate the pH dependence of luminescent properties of this C,N,Npyrazolyl cyclometalated Pt(II) system. Such a pH response is ascribable to the protonation/deprotonation of the 1-pyrazolyl-NH on the C,N,Npyrazolyl cyclometalating ligand. The pKa of the 1-pyrazolyl-NH in 3, measured in 1:2 (v/v) aqueous DMF solutions, is approximately 4.0.  相似文献

A family of mono- and binuclear Cy(3)P-supported gold(I) complexes containing various pi-conjugated linear arylacetylide ligands, including the two homologous series (Cy(3)P)Au(Ctbd1;CC(6)H(4))(n)()(-)(1)(Ctbd1;CPh) and (Cy(3)P)Au(Ctbd1;CC(6)H(4))(n)()Ctbd1;CAu(PCy(3)) (n = 1-4), have been prepared. X-ray crystal analyses revealed no intermolecular aurophilic interactions in their crystal lattice. The lowest-energy singlet transitions are predominately intraligand in nature and exhibit both phenyl and acetylenic (1)(pipi) character. Strong photoluminescence is detected in solid and solution states under ambient conditions, with lifetimes in the microsecond regime. For complexes with a single arylacetylide group, only phosphorescence from the arylacetylide (3)(pipi) state is observed. Vibrational spacings in the solid-state emission spectra can be attributed to a combination of phenyl ring deformation and symmetric phenyl ring and Ctbd1;C stretches. Additional delayed-fluorescence emission is recorded for complexes with multiple p-arylacetylide units, and this is attributed to a triplet-triplet annihilation process. The phosphorescence energy of these complexes are readily modified by altering the length of the conjugated arylacetylide system, while the intensity of phosphorescence relative to fluorescence decreases when the p-arylacetylide chain is elongated. Information regarding the nature and relative energies of arylacetylide singlet and triplet excited states has been derived from the two homologous series and extrapolated to polymeric arylacetylide species. The (3)(pipi) excited-state reduction potentials E degrees [Au(+)/Au] (Au = 1a, 2, and 4) are estimated to be -1.80, -1.28, and -1.17 V versus SSCE, respectively.  相似文献

A new series of Os(II) diimine complexes with the general formula [Os(N(wedge)N)(CO)(2)I(2)], N(wedge)N = 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) (1), 4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine (dbubpy) (2), 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dpphen) (3), 2-(2'-pyridyl)benzoxazole (pboz) (4), and 5-tert-butyl-2-(2'-pyridyl)benzoxazole (bupboz) (5), were synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods and by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study on the dpphen complex 3. The corresponding photophysical properties were studied using UV-vis and emission spectrometry. The resulting phosphorescence features both in solution and as a solid film, in combination with the MO calculation, lead us to conclude that the emissions originate from mixed halide-to-ligand (XLCT approximately 70%) and metal-to-ligand (MLCT approximately 30%) transitions instead of the typical MLCT transition. Using complexes 4 and 5 as the dopant emitters, we evaluated their potential to serve as a phosphor for organic light emitting diodes by examining their electroluminescent performances. Reddish orange electroluminescence centered around 600 nm was observed for organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) fabricated using complex 5 as the emitter; the device efficiency was shown to be as high as 2.8% (and 5.0 cd/A or 2.7 lm/W), and the peak luminance was shown to be 5600 cd/m(2) at a driving voltage of approximately 15 V.  相似文献

New Pt(II) diimine bis(acetylide) complexes where the diimine is a substituted bipyridine or phenanthroline and the arylacetylide is 4-ethynylbenzaldehyde have been prepared in good to excellent yields. Spectroscopic characterization supports a square planar coordination geometry with cis-alkynyl ligands, and the crystal structure of one of the complexes, Pt(phen)(Ctbd1;CC(6)H(4)CHO)(2) (1), confirms the assignment. The new diimine bis(acetylide) complexes exhibit an absorption band ca. 400 nm that corresponds to a Pt(d) --> pi diimine charge transfer transition and are brightly emissive in fluid solution, with excited state lifetimes in the range 100-800 ns. Correlation of diimine substituent with lambda(max) for the 400 nm absorption band gives strong support to the MLCT assignment. Complex 1 undergoes electron transfer quenching, showing good Stern-Volmer behavior with a variety of oxidative and reductive quenchers. Quenching studies conducted with DNA nucleosides (A, T, C, G) were also investigated. Silyl-protected adenosine and guanosine were found to quench the luminescence of 1 better than similarly protected cytidine or thymidine. Since the former are the more easily oxidized bases, the results suggest that the Pt(II) diimine bis(acetylide) complexes are more powerful photooxidants than photoreductants with regard to electron transfer to DNA bases.  相似文献

The dyads 3, 4, and 6, combining the Bodipy chromophore with a Pt(bpy)(bdt) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, bdt = 1,2-benzenedithiolate, 3 and 6) or a Pt(bpy)(mnt) (mnt = maleonitriledithiolate, 4) moiety, have been synthesized and studied by UV-vis steady-state absorption, transient absorption, and emission spectroscopies and cyclic voltammetry. Comparison of the absorption spectra and cyclic voltammograms of dyads 3, 4, and 6 and those of their model compounds 1a, 2, 5, and 7 shows that the spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of the dyads are essentially the sum of their constituent chromophores, indicating negligible interaction of the constituent chromophores in the ground state. However, emission studies on 3 and 6 show a complete absence of both Bodipy-based fluorescence and the characteristic luminescence of the Pt(bpy)(bdt) unit. Dyad 4 shows a weak Pt(mnt)-based emission. Transient absorption studies show that excitation of the dyads into the Bodipy-based (1)ππ* excited state is followed by singlet energy transfer (SEnT) to the Pt(dithiolate)-based (1)MMLL'CT (mixed metal-ligand to ligand charge transfer) excited state ([Formula: see text] = 0.6 ps, [Formula: see text] = 0.5 ps, and [Formula: see text] = 1.6 ps), which undergoes rapid intersystem crossing to the (3)MMLL'CT state due to the heavy Pt(II) ion. The (3)MMLL'CT state is then depopulated by triplet energy transfer (TEnT) to the low-lying Bodipy-based (3)ππ* excited state ([Formula: see text] = 8.2 ps, [Formula: see text] = 5 ps, and [Formula: see text] = 160 ps). The transition assignments are supported by TD-DFT calculations. Both energy-transfer processes are shown to proceed via a Dexter electron exchange mechanism. The much longer time constants for dyad 6 relative to 3 are attributed to the significantly poorer coupling and resonance of charge-separated species that are intermediates in the electron exchange process.  相似文献

A series of tetraalkynylplatinate(II) complexes, (NBu(4))(2)[Pt(Ctbd1;CR)(4)] (R = C(6)H(4)N-4, C(6)H(4)N-3, and C(6)H(3)N(2)-5), and the diynyl analogues, (NBu(4))(2)[Pt(Ctbd1;CCtbd1;CR)(4)] (R = C(6)H(5) and C(6)H(4)CH(3)-4), have been synthesized. These complexes displayed intense photoluminescence, which was assigned as metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) transitions. Reaction of (Bu(4)N)(2)[Pt(Ctbd1;CC(5)H(4)N-4)(4)] with 4 equiv of [Pt((t)Bu(3)trpy)(MeCN)](OTf)(2) in methanol did not yield the expected pentanuclear platinum product, [Pt(Ctbd1;CC(5)H(4)N)(4)[Pt((t)Bu(3)trpy)](4)](OTf)(6), but instead afforded a strongly luminescent 4-ethynylpyridine-bridged dinuclear complex, [Pt((t)Bu(3)trpy)(Ctbd1;CC(5)H(4)N)Pt((t)Bu(3)trpy)](PF(6))(3,) which has been structurally characterized. The emission origin is assigned as derived from states of predominantly (3)MLCT [d(pi)(Pt) --> pi((t)Bu(3)trpy)] character, probably mixed with some intraligand (3)IL [pi --> pi(Ctbd1;C)], and ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (3)LLCT [pi(Ctbd1;C) --> pi((t)()Bu(3)trpy)] character. On the other hand, reaction of (Bu(4)N)(2)[Pt(Ctbd1;CCtbd1;CC(6)H(4)CH(3)-4)(4)] with [Ag(MeCN)(4)][BF(4)] gave a mixed-metal aggregate, [Pt(2)Ag(4)(Ctbd1;CCtbd1;CC(6)H(4)CH(3)-4)(8)(THF)(4)]. The crystal structure of [Pt(2)Ag(4)(Ctbd1;CCtbd1;CC(6)H(4)CH(3)-4)(8)(THF)(4)] has also been determined. A comparison study of the spectroscopic properties of the hexanuclear platinum-silver complex with its precursor complex has been made and their spectroscopic origins were suggested.  相似文献

The nucleophilicity of the [Pt(2)S(2)] core in [[Ph(2)P(CH(2))(n)PPh(2)]Pt(mu-S)(2)Pt[Ph(2)P(CH(2))(n)PPh(2)]] (n = 3, dppp (1); n = 2, dppe (2)) metalloligands toward the CH(2)Cl(2) solvent has been thoroughly studied. Complex 1, which has been obtained and characterized by X-ray diffraction, is structurally related to 2 and consists of dinuclear molecules with a hinged [Pt(2)S(2)] central ring. The reaction of 1 and 2 with CH(2)Cl(2) has been followed by means of (31)P, (1)H, and (13)C NMR, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, and X-ray data. Although both reactions proceed at different rates, the first steps are common and lead to a mixture of the corresponding mononuclear complexes [Pt[Ph(2)P(CH(2))(n)PPh(2)](S(2)CH(2))], n = 3 (7), 2 (8), and [Pt[Ph(2)P(CH(2))(n)PPh(2)]Cl(2)], n = 3 (9), 2 (10). Theoretical calculations give support to the proposed pathway for the disintegration process of the [Pt(2)S(2)] ring. Only in the case of 1, the reaction proceeds further yielding [Pt(2)(dppp)(2)[mu-(SCH(2)SCH(2)S)-S,S']]Cl(2) (11). To confirm the sequence of the reactions leading from 1 and 2 to the final products 9 and 11 or 8 and 10, respectively, complexes 7, 8, and 11 have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Additional experiments have allowed elucidation of the reaction mechanism involved from 7 to 11, and thus, the origin of the CH(2) groups that participate in the expansion of the (SCH(2)S)(2-) ligand in 7 to afford the bridging (SCH(2)SCH(2)S)(2-) ligand in 11 has been established. The X-ray structure of 11 is totally unprecedented and consists of a hinged [(dppp)Pt(mu-S)(2)Pt(dppp)] core capped by a CH(2)SCH(2) fragment.  相似文献

A series of platinum(II) complexes bearing a chromophore-acceptor dyad obtained by reacting 4-(p-bromomethylphenyl)-6-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine or 4'-(p-bromomethylphenyl)-2,2':6',2'-terpyridine with pyridine, 4-phenylpyridine, 4,4'-bipyridine, 1-methyl-4-(pyridin-4'-yl)pyridinium hexafluorophosphate respectively, were synthesized. Their photophysical properties, emission quenching studies by Pt nanoparticles and methyl viologen, electrochemical properties and photoinduced electron-transfer reactions in a photocatalytic hydrogen-generating system containing triethanolamine and colloidal Pt without an extra electron relay, were investigated. A comparison of the rates of hydrogen production for the two photocatalytic systems, one containing a metal-organic dyad and the other comprising a 1:1 mixture of the parental platinum(II) complexes and the corresponding electron relay, showed that intramolecular electron transfer improves the photocatalytic efficiency. Compared with cyclometalated platinum(II) complexes, the related platinum(II) terpyridyl complexes exhibited poor performance for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. An investigation into the amount of hydrogen generated by three platinum(II) complexes containing cyclometalated ligands with methyl groups located on different phenyl rings revealed that the efficiency of hydrogen evolution was affected by a subtle change of functional group on ligand, and the hydrogen-generating efficiency in the presence or absence of methyl viologen is comparable, indicating electron transfer from the excited [Pt(C^N^N)] chromophore to colloidal Pt. (1)H NMR spectroscopy of the metal-organic dyads in an aqueous solution in the presence of excess triethanolamine revealed that the dyad with a viologen unit was unstable, and a chemical reaction in the compound occurred prior to irradiation by visible light under basic conditions.  相似文献

A series of mononuclear gold(I) acetylide complexes with urea moiety, R'(3)PAuC≡CC(6)H(4)-4-NHC(O)NHC(6)H(4)-4-R (R' = cyclohexyl, R = NO(2) (2a), CF(3) (2b), Cl (2c), H (2d), CH(3) (2e), (t)Bu (2f), OCH(3) (2g); R' = phenyl, R = NO(2) (3a), OCH(3) (3b); R' = 4-methoxyphenyl, R = H (4a), OCH(3) (4b)), have been synthesized and characterized. The crystal structures of Ph(3)PAuC≡CC(6)H(4)-4-NHC(O)NHC(6)H(4)-4-NO(2) (3a) and (4-CH(3)OC(6)H(4))(3)PAuC≡CC(6)H(4)-4-NHC(O)NHC(6)H(5) (4a) have been determined by X-ray diffraction. Complexes 2a-2g, 3b, and 4a-4b show intense luminescence both in the solid state and in degassed THF solution at 298 K. Anion binding properties of complexes 2a-2g, 3a-3b, and 4a-4b have been studied by UV-vis and (1)H NMR titration experiments. In general, the log K values of 2a-2g with the same anion in THF depend on the substituent R on the acetylide ligand of 2a-2g: R = NO(2) (2a) > CF(3) (2b) ≥ Cl (2c) > H (2d) > CH(3) (2e) ≈ (t)Bu (2f) ≥ OCH(3) (2g). Complex 2a with NO(2) group shows the dramatic color change toward F(-) in DMSO, which provides an access of naked eye detection of F(-).  相似文献

The reactions of [ReOX3(AsPh3)2] (X = Cl, Br) with 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dpphen) have been examined and the complexes [ReO(OMe)X2(dpphen)] and [Re2O3X4(dpphen)2]·2/3CH2Cl2 (X = Cl, Br) have been obtained. They were characterized by IR, UV–Vis spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray analysis has been performed for [ReO(OMe)Cl2(dpphen)] and [Re2O3Br4(dpphen)2]·2/3CH2Cl2. The nature of the frontier orbitals of [ReO(OMe)Cl2(dpphen)] and [Re2O3Br4(dpphen)2] and the electronic transitions involved in the absorption spectra have been studied by means of the density functional and time-dependent density functional methods.  相似文献

1H, 13C and 15N NMR studies of platinide(II) (M=Pd, Pt) chloride complexes with methyl and phenyl derivatives of 2,2'-bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline [LL=4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (dmbpy); 4,4'-diphenyl-2,2'-bipyridine (dpbpy); 4,7-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmphen); 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dpphen)] having a general [M(LL)Cl2] formula were performed and the respective chemical shifts (delta1H, delta13C, delta15N) reported. 1H high-frequency coordination shifts (Delta1Hcoord=delta1Hcomplex-delta1Hligand) were discussed in relation to the changes of diamagnetic contribution in the relevant 1H shielding constants. The comparison to literature data for similar [M(LL)(XX)], [M(LL)X2] and [M(LL)XY] coordination or organometallic compounds containing various auxiliary ligands revealed a large dependence of delta1H parameters on inductive and anisotropic effects. 15N low-frequency coordination shifts (Delta15Ncoord=delta 15Ncomplex-delta15Nligand) of ca 88-96 ppm for M=Pd and ca 103-111 ppm for M=Pt were attributed to both the decrease of the absolute value of paramagnetic contribution and the increase of the diamagnetic term in the expression for 15N shielding constants. The absolute magnitude of Delta15Ncoord parameter increased by ca 15 ppm upon Pd(II)-->Pt(II) transition and by ca 6-7 ppm following dmbpy-->dmphen or dpbpy-->dpphen ligand replacement; variations between analogous complexes containing methyl and phenyl ligands (dmbpy vs dpbpy; dmphen vs dpphen) did not exceed+/-1.5 ppm. Experimental 1H, 13C, 15N NMR chemical shifts were compared to those quantum-chemically calculated by B3LYP/LanL2DZ+6-31G**//B3LYP/LanL2DZ+6-31G*, both in vacuo and in DMSO or DMF solution.  相似文献

The synthesis, electrochemistry, and photophysical behavior of a Pt(II) terpyridyl perylenediimide (PDI) acetylide (1) charge-transfer complex is reported. The title compound exhibits strong (ε ≈ 5 × 10(4) M(-1)cm(-1)) low-energy PDI acetylide-based π-π* absorption bands in the visible range extending to 600 nm, producing highly quenched singlet fluorescence (Φ = 0.014 ± 0.001, τ = 109 ps) with respect to a nonmetalated PDI model chromophore. Nanosecond transient absorption spectroscopy revealed the presence of a long excited-state lifetime (372 ns in 2-methyltetrahydrofuran) with transient features consistent with the PDI-acetylide triplet state, ascertained by direct comparison to a model Pt(II) PDI-acetylide complex lacking low-energy charge-transfer transitions. For the first time, time-resolved step-scan FT-IR spectroscopy was used to characterize the triplet excited state of the PDI-acetylide sensitized in the title compound and its associated model complex. The observed red shifts (~30-50 cm(-1)) in the C═O and C≡C vibrations of the two Pt(II) complexes in the long-lived excited state are consistent with formation of the (3)PDI acetylide state and found to be in excellent agreement with the expected change in the relevant DFT-calculated IR frequencies in the nonmetalated PDI model chromophore (ground singlet state and lowest triplet excited state). Formation of the PDI triplet excited state in the title chromophore was also supported by sensitization of the singlet oxygen photoluminescence centered at ~1275 nm in air-saturated acetonitrile solution, Φ((1)O(2)) = 0.52. In terms of light emission, only residual PDI-based red fluorescence could be detected and no corresponding PDI-based phosphorescence was observed in the visible or NIR region at 298 or 77 K in the Pt(II) terpyridyl perylenediimideacetylide.  相似文献

The electronic structure and metal-metal bonding in the classic d(7)d(7) tetra-bridged lantern dimer [Pt(2)(O(2)CCH(3))(4)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) has been investigated by performing quasi-relativistic Xalpha-SW molecular orbital calculations on the analogous formate-bridged complex. From the calculations, the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied metal-based levels are delta(Pt(2)) and sigma(Pt(2)), respectively, indicating a metal-metal single bond analogous to the isoelectronic Rh(II) complex. The energetic ordering of the main metal-metal bonding levels is, however, quite different from that found for the Rh(II) complex, and the upper metal-metal bonding and antibonding levels have significantly more ligand character. As found for the related complex [W(2)(O(2)CH)(4)], the inclusion of relativistic effects leads to a further strengthening of the metal-metal sigma bond as a result of the increased involvement of the higher-lying platinum 6s orbital. The low-temperature absorption spectrum of [Pt(2)(O(2)CCH(3))(4)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) is assigned on the basis of Xalpha-SW calculated transition energies and oscillator strengths. Unlike the analogous Rh(II) spectrum, the visible and near-UV absorption spectrum is dominated by charge transfer (CT) transitions. The weak, visible bands at 27 500 and 31 500 cm(-)(1) are assigned to Ow --> sigma(Pt(2)) and OAc --> sigma(Pt(2)) CT transitions, respectively, although the donor orbital in the latter transition has around 25% pi(Pt(2)) character. The intense near-UV band around 37 500 cm(-)(1) displays the typical lower energy shift as the axial substituents are changed from H(2)O to Cl and Br, indicative of significant charge transfer character. From the calculated oscillator strengths, a number of transitions, mostly OAc --> sigma(Pt-O) CT in nature, are predicted to contribute to this band, including the metal-based sigma(Pt(2)) --> sigma(Pt(2)) transition. The close similarity in the absorption spectra of the CH(3)COO(-), SO(4)(2)(-), and HPO(4)(2)(-) bridged Pt(III) complexes suggests that analogous spectral assignments should apply to [Pt(2)(SO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(2)](2)(-) and [Pt(2)(HPO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(2)](2)(-). Consequently, the anomalous MCD spectra reported recently for the intense near-UV band in the SO(4)(2)(-) and HPO(4)(2)(-) bridged Pt(III) complexes can be rationalized on the basis of contributions from either SO(4) --> sigma(Pt-O) or HPO(4) --> sigma(Pt-O) CT transitions. The electronic absorption spectrum of [Rh(2)(O(2)CCH(3))(4)(H(2)O)(2)] has been re-examined on the basis of Xalpha-SW calculated transition energies and oscillator strengths. The intense UV band at approximately 45 000 cm(-)(1) is predicted to arise from several excitations, both metal-centered and CT in origin. The lower energy shoulder at approximately 40 000 cm(-)(1) is largely attributed to the metal-based sigma(Rh(2)) --> sigma(Rh(2)) transition.  相似文献

The first divalent ytterbium complex supported by a diaminobis(phenolate) ligand, YbL(THF)2.0.5C7H8 (1; THF = tetrahydrofuran), was synthesized in good yield by the amine elimination reaction of Yb[N(SiMe3)2]2(THF)2 with H2L (L = [Me2NCH2CH2N(CH2-2-OC6H2-3,5-But2)2]) in a 1:1 molar ratio. X-ray structural determination shows complex 1 to be a THF-solvated monomer, which adopts a distorted octahedral coordination geometry around the Yb atom. Complex 1 can react with PhNCO and PhCCH, as a single electron-transfer reagent, to give the corresponding reduction coupling product [(YbLOCNPh)(THF)]2.4THF (2) and the alkynide complex YbLCCPh(DME) (3; DME = 1,2-dimethoxyethane). Complexes 2 and 3 have been characterized by X-ray crystal structural analysis. In complex 2, the dianionic oxamide ligand resulting from the reductive coupling of two phenyl isocyanate molecules coordinates to two Yb atoms in a mu,eta4 fashion. Complex 3 has a monomeric structure with a Yb-C(terminal phenylacetynide) bond length of 2.374(3) A. Complex 1 is also a highly efficient catalyst for ring-opening polymerization of epsilon-caprolactone.  相似文献

A series of dyads of general formula Ru(bpy)(2)(bpy-ph(n)-DQ)(4+) (n = 1-5), based on a Ru(II) polypyridine unit as photoexcitable donor, a set of oligo-p-phenylene bridges with 1-5 modular units, and a cyclo-diquaternarized 2,2'-bipyridine (DQ(2+)) as electron acceptor unit, have been synthesized. Their spectroscopic and photophysical properties have been investigated in CH(3)CN and CH(2)Cl(2) by time-resolved emission and absorption spectroscopy in the nanosecond and picosecond time scale. The experimental study has also been complemented with a computational investigation carried out on the whole series of dyads. The absorption spectra of the dyads show new spectroscopic transitions, in addition to those characteristic of the donor, bridge, and acceptor fragments. DFT calculations suggest the assignment of such bands as bridge-to-acceptor (π ph(n)) → (π* DQ) charge-transfer transitions. This assignment is consistent with the solvatochromic and spectroelectrochemical behavior of the new bands. For all the dyads at room temperature in fluid solution, the typical (3)MLCT luminescence of the Ru(II) polypyridine unit is strongly (>90%) quenched, supporting the occurrence of an efficient intramolecular photoinduced electron transfer. The study has revealed, however, that the photophysical mechanism is actually more complex than presumed on the basis of a simple photoinduced electron-transfer scheme. For n = 1, very fast (few picoseconds) photoinduced electron transfer from the MLCT state localized on the substituted bpy ligand to the DQ unit has been observed, followed by slower interligand hopping and charge recombination. For n = 2-5, MLCT excited-state quenching takes place without transient detection of charge-separated product, indicating that charge recombination is faster than charge separation. This behavior can be rationalized in terms of the superexchange couplings expected through this type of bridges for the two processes. The kinetics of MLCT quenching in the dyads with n = 1-5 does not follow the usual exponential falloff with bridge length: after a regular decrease for n = 1-3, the rate constants become almost insensitive to bridge length for n = 3-5. The rationale of this uncommon behavior, as suggested by DFT calculations, lies in a switch in the MLCT quenching mechanism with increasing bridge length, from oxidative quenching by the DQ acceptor to reductive quenching by the bridge.

Pentanuclear linear chain Pt(II,III) complexes [[Pt2(NH3)2X2((CH3)3CCONH)2(CH2COCH3)]2[PtX'4]].nCH3COCH3 (X = X' = Cl, n = 2 (1a), X = Cl, X' = Br, n = 1 (1b), X = Br, X' = Cl, n = 2 (1c), X = X' = Br, n = 1 (1d)) composed of a monomeric Pt(II) complex sandwiched by two amidate-bridged Pt dimers were synthesized from the reaction of the acetonyl dinuclear Pt(III) complexes having equatorial halide ligands [Pt2(NH3)2X2((CH3)3CCONH)2(CH2COCH3)]X' ' (X = Cl (2a), Br (2b), X' ' = NO3-, CH3C6H4SO3-, BF4-, PF6-, ClO4-), with K2[PtX'4] (X' = Cl, Br). The X-ray structures of 1a-1d show that the complexes have metal-metal bonded linear Pt5 structures, and the oxidation state of the metals is approximately Pt(III)-Pt(III)...Pt(II)...Pt(III)-Pt(III). The Pt...Pt interactions between the dimer units and the monomer are due to the induced Pt(II)-Pt(IV) polarization of the Pt(III) dimeric unit caused by the electron withdrawal of the equatorial halide ligands. The density functional theory calculation clearly shows that the Pt...Pt interactions between the dimers and the monomer are made by the electron transfer from the monomer to the dimers. The pentanuclear complexes have flexible Pt backbones with the Pt chain adopting either arch or sigmoid structures depending on the crystal packing.  相似文献

The new complexes [Pd(dmba)( N10-9AA)(PPh 3)]ClO 4 ( 1), [Pt(dmba)( N9-9AA)(PPh 3)]ClO 4 ( 2), [Pd(dmba)( N10-9AA)Cl] ( 3), and [Pd(C 6F 5)( N10-9AA)(PPh 3)Cl] ( 4) (9-AA = 9-aminoacridine; dmba = N,C-chelating 2-(dimethylaminomethyl)phenyl) have been prepared. The crystal structures have been established by X-ray diffraction. In complex 2, an anagostic C-H...Pt interaction is observed. All complexes are luminescent in the solid state at room temperature, showing important differences between the palladium and platinum complexes. Complex 2 shows two structured emission bands at high and low energies in the solid state, and the lifetimes are in agreement with excited states of triplet parentage. Density functional theory and time-dependent density functional theory calculations for complex 2 have been done. Values of IC 50 were also calculated for the new complexes 1- 4 against the tumor cell line HL-60. All of the new complexes were more active than cisplatin (up to 30-fold in some cases). The DNA adduct formation of the new complexes synthesized was followed by circular dichroism and electrophoretic mobility. Atomic force microscopy images of the modifications caused by the complexes on plasmid DNA pB R322 were also obtained.  相似文献
