The problem of the determination of the Lyapunov spectrum in chaotic advection using approximated velocity fields resulting from a standard FEM method is investigated. A fourth order Runge–Kutta scheme for trajectory integration is combined with a third order Jacobian matrix method with QR ‐factorization. After checking the algorithm on the standard Lorenz and coupled quartic oscillator systems, the method is applied to a model 3‐D steady flow for which an analytical expression is known. Both linear and quadratic approximated velocity fields succeed in predicting the Lyapunov exponents as well as describing the chaotic or regular regions inside the flow with satisfactory accuracy. A more realistic flow is then studied in order to delineate the possible limitations of the approach. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

When positive or negative feedback of absolute terms are introduced in dynamic equations of improved chaotic system with constant Lyapunov exponent spectrum, diverse structures of chaotic attractors can be rebuilt, numbers of novel attractors found and subsequently the dynamical behavior property analyzed. Drawing on the concept of global phase reversal and its implementation methods, three main features are discussed and a systematic conclusion is made, that is, the unique class of chaotic system which utilizes merely absolute terms to realize nonlinear function possesses the following three properties: adjustable amplitude, adjustable phase reversal and constant Lyapunov exponent spectrum.  相似文献

The influential application of substitution boxes in secure communication and multimedia security attracted researchers to construct more robust substitution boxes. The advantage of using chaos in the secure communication is to get additional unpredictability and randomness in data. In this paper, substitution boxes are constructed with the help of chaotic system and linear fractional transformation. The 256 distinct values of each substitution box are then checked with the help of different available algebraic and statistical analyses. These tests evaluate the strength and application of substitution boxes in different encryption techniques. The results indicate the strength of anticipated technique.

Sensitivity analysis in chaotic dynamical systems is a challenging task from a computational point of view. In this work, we present a numerical investigation of a novel approach, known as the space-split sensitivity or S3 algorithm. The S3 algorithm is an ergodic-averaging method to differentiate statistics in ergodic, chaotic systems, rigorously based on the theory of hyperbolic dynamics. We illustrate S3 on one-dimensional chaotic maps, revealing its computational advantage over naïve finite difference computations of the same statistical response. In addition, we provide an intuitive explanation of the key components of the S3 algorithm, including the density gradient function.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the problem of synchronization between two different chaotic systems with discontinuous coupling. Based on the stability theory and the comparison theorem of differential equations, we derive less restrictive synchronization conditions than those resulting from the Lyapunov theory. The theoretical results show that generalized synchronization between two different chaotic systems can be achieved if the time-average coupling strength is large enough. Finally, the corresponding numerical simulations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed schemes.  相似文献

We study the synchronization of general chaotic systems which satisfy the Lipschitz condition only, with uncertain variable parameters by linear coupling and pragmatical adaptive tracking. The uncertain parameters of a system vary with time due to aging, environment, and disturbances. A?sufficient condition is given for the asymptotical stability of common zero solution of error dynamics and parameter update dynamics by the Ge?CYu?CChen pragmatical asymptotical stability theorem based on equal probability assumption. Numerical results are studied for a Lorenz system and a quantum cellular neural network oscillator to show the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization strategy.  相似文献

Fluid flows reveal a wealth of structures, such as vortices and barriers to transport. Usually, either an Eulerian or a Lagrangian frame of reference is employed in order to detect such features of the flow. However, the two frameworks detect structures that have different properties. Indeed, common Eulerian diagnostics (Hua-Klein and Okubo-Weiss criterion) employed in order to detect vortices do not always agree with Lagrangian diagnostics such as finite-time Lyapunov exponents. Besides, the former are Galilean-invariant whereas the latter is objective. However, both the Lagrangian and the Eulerian approaches to coherent structure detection must show some links under any inertial-frame. Compound channels flows have been accurately studied in the past, both from a Lagrangian and an Eulerian point of view. The features detected do not superimpose: Eulerian vortices do not coincide with barriers to transport. The missing link between the two approaches is here recovered thanks to a spectral analysis.

In the study of dynamical systems, the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents has been shown to be an efficient tool for analyzing periodic motions and chaos. So far, different calculating methods of Lyapunov exponents have been proposed. Recently, a new method using local mappings was given to compute the Lyapunov exponents in non-smooth dynamical systems. By the help of this method and the coordinates transformation proposed in this paper, we investigate a two-degree-of-freedom vibro-impact system with two components. For this concrete model, we construct the local mappings and the Poincaré mapping which are used to describe the algorithm for calculating the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents. The spectra of Lyapunov exponents for periodic motions and chaos are computed by the presented method. Moreover, the largest Lyapunov exponents are calculated in a large parameter range for the studied system. Numerical simulations show the success of the improved method in a kind of two-degree-of-freedom vibro-impact systems.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new approach for finding the Lyapunov function to study the sufficient global synchronization criterion of master-slave non-autonomous chaotic systems via linear state error feedback control. The approach is first demonstrated in a synchronization scheme for the second-order non-autonomous chaotic systems and then generalized to the schemes for the nth-order non-autonomous chaotic systems. Some algebraic synchronization criteria for the second-order chaotic systems are obtained. The sharpness of the new criteria is compared with that of the existing criteria of the same type by numerical examples.  相似文献

Nonlinear electric devices are important and essential for setting circuits so that chaotic outputs or periodical series can be generated. Chaotic circuits can be mapped into dimensionless dynamical systems by using scale transformation, and thus, synchronization control can be further investigated in numerical way. In case of synchronization approach, resistor is often used to bridge two chaotic circuits and gap junction connection is used to realize possible synchronization. In fact, complex electromagnetic effect in circuits should be considered when the capacitor and inductor (inductance coil) are attacked by high-frequency signals or noise-like disturbance. In this paper, two chaotic circuits are connected by using voltage coupling (via resistor) and triggering mutual induction electromotive force, which time-varying magnetic field is generated in the inductance coils. Therefore, magnetic field coupling is realized between two isolate inductance coils and induction electromotive force is generated to adjust the oscillation in circuits. It is found that field coupling can modulate the synchronization behaviors of chaotic circuits. In case of periodical oscillating state, the synchronization between two periodical circuits under voltage coupling is destroyed when field coupling is considered. Furthermore, the synchronization between chaotic circuits becomes more difficult when field coupling is triggered. Open problems for this topic are proposed for further investigation.  相似文献

We show the usefulness of bifurcation diagrams to implement a pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) based on chaotic maps. We provide details on the selection of the best parameter values to obtain high entropy and positive Lyapunov exponent from the bifurcation diagram of four chaotic maps, namely: Bernoulli shift map, tent, zigzag, and Borujeni maps. The binary sequences obtained from these maps are analyzed to implement a PRNG both in software and in hardware. The software implementation is realized using 32 and 64 bits microprocessor architectures, and with floating point and fixed point computer arithmetic. The hardware implementation is done by using a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) architecture. We developed a serial communication interface between the PRNG on the FPGA and a personal computer to obtain the generated sequences. We validate the randomness of the generated binary sequences with the NIST test suite 800-22-a both in floating point and fixed point arithmetic. At the end, we show that those chaotic maps are suitable to implement a PRNG but according to the hardware resources, the one based on the Bernoulli shift map is better. In addition, another advantage is that the required initial value for the sequences can be within the whole interval \([-1,1]\), including its bounds.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a scheme utilizing three-party password-based authenticated key exchange protocol with user anonymity using extended chaotic maps, which is more efficient and secure than previously proposed schemes. In order to enhance the efficiency and security, we use the extended chaotic maps to encrypt and decrypt the information transmitted by the user or the server. In addition, the proposed protocol provides user anonymity to guarantee the identity of users, which is transmitted in the insecure public network.  相似文献

Recently, biometric-based remote user authentication schemes along with passwords have drawn considerable attention in research. In 2011, Das proposed an improvement on an efficient biometric-based remote user authentication scheme using smart cards and claimed his scheme could resist various attacks. However, there are some weaknesses in Das’s scheme such as the privileged insider attack and the off-line password guessing attack. Besides, Das’s scheme also cannot provide user anonymity. To overcome these weaknesses, we shall propose a secure biometric-based remote user authentication with key agreement scheme using extended chaotic maps. The proposed scheme not only can resist the above-mentioned attacks, but also provide user anonymity.  相似文献

We explore the behaviour of an ensemble of chaotic oscillators diffusively coupled only to an external chaotic system, whose intrinsic dynamics may be similar or dissimilar to the group. Counter-intuitively, we find that a dissimilar external system manages to suppress the intrinsic chaos of the oscillators to fixed point dynamics, at sufficiently high coupling strengths. So, while synchronization is induced readily by coupling to an identical external system, control to fixed states is achieved only if the external system is dissimilar. We quantify the efficacy of control by estimating the fraction of random initial states that go to fixed points, a measure analogous to basin stability. Lastly, we indicate the generality of this phenomenon by demonstrating suppression of chaotic oscillations by coupling to a common hyper-chaotic system. These results then indicate the easy controllability of chaotic oscillators by an external chaotic system, thereby suggesting a potent method that may help design control strategies.  相似文献
