A conductance study concerning the interaction between ammonium ion and several crown ethers in acetonitrile solution has been carried out at different temperatures. The stability constants of the resulting 11 complexes at various temperatures were determined from the molar conductance-mole ratio data and found to vary in the order DC18C6>18C6>DB30C10>DB21C7>DB24C8>DB18C6>15C5>B15C5. The enthalpy and entropy of complexation were determined from the temperature dependence of the formation constants. The influence on the thermodynamic data of different parameters such as cavity size and dimensionality of crown ethers, nature of substituents in the polyether ring, conformations of the free and complexed ligands, solvent-ligand interaction and number of N–H bonds available for hydrogen bonding are discussed.  相似文献

The formation of ammonium complexes with several crown ethers and cryptands in nitrobenzene, acetonitrile and dimethylformamide solutions was investigated by conductometry at 25°C. Stability constants of the resulting 1:1 complexes sere determined from the molar conductance-mole ratio data and found to vary in the order DC18C6>18C6>DB30C10>DB21C7>DB24C8>DB18C6>15C5>B15C5>12C4, in the case of crown complexes, and in the order C222>C221>C211>C22>C21 for the ammonium cryptates. The stabilities of the complexes varied inversely with the Gutmann donicity of the solvents. Influences of the number of members in the macrocycle, nature of the substituents in the polyether ring, cavity size and dimensionality, conformations of the free and complexed ligands and number of N+–H bonds available for hydrogen bonding are discussed.  相似文献

Formation constants for complexes of dibenzo-21-crown-7, dibenzo-24-crown-8 and dibenzo-27-crown-9 with the Na+, Cs+ and Tl+ ions have been determined by multinuclear NMR measurements in several nonaqueous solvents. The measurements of the cesium complexes were carried out at different temperatures and the enthalpy and entropy of complexation were determined from the temperature dependence of the formation constants. The stabilities of these complexes in solvents of low to medium donicity, —nitromethane, acetonitrile, acetone, methanol, and propylene carbonate, vary in the order Tl+>Cs+>Na+. Depending on the relative sizes of the cation and of the ligand cavity, either a three-dimensional wrap-around complex or a two-dimensional crown complex are formed. For the cesium complexes, the values of H c o and S c o are definitely solvent-dependent and in all cases the complexes are enthalpy stabilized but entropy destabilized. A compensating effect is observed in the variation of the enthalpy and entropy of complexation so that the overall influence of the above solvents on the stability of the complexes is rather limited.  相似文献

The complexation of alkaline-earth cations by different crown ethers, azacrown ethers, and cryptands has been studied in methanol solutions by means of calorimetric and potentiometric titrations. The smallest monocyclic ligands examined form 21 complexes (ratio of ligand to cation) with cations which are too large to fit into the ligand cavity. With the smallest cryptand, only Sr2+ and Ba2+ ions are able to form exclusive complexes. In the case of the reaction of cryptand (211) with Ca2+, a separate estimation of stability constants for the formation of exclusive and inclusive complexes was possible for the first time. Higher values for stability constants are found for the reaction of alkaline-earth cations with cryptands compared to the reaction with alkali ions. This increase is only caused by favorable entropic contributions.  相似文献

The complexation reactions between Tl+ and Ag+ ions and several crown ethers have been studied conductometrically in acetonitrile, acetone and dimethylformamide solutions at 25°C. The stability constants of the resulting 1:1 complexes were determined, and found to decrease in the order DA18C6>DC18C6>DB30C10>18C6>DB21C7>DB24C8>DB18C6>B15C5 >12C4, in the case of Tl+ complexes, and in the order DA18C6>DC18C6>18C6>DB18C6 >DB24C8>DB30C10B15C5>DB21C7 for Ag+ complexes. There is an inverse relationship between the stabilities of the complexes and the Gutamnn donicity of the solvents. The influence of a number of atoms in the macrocycle and of substituents in the polyether ring on the stability of the complexes is discussed.  相似文献

The effects of Na+, K+ and Li+ cations on the fluorescence spectra of benzo[15]crown-5, benzo[18]crown-6 and dibenzo[18]crown-6 were investigated in acetonitrile. The alkali cation role observed was usually the complexation-enhanced quenching fluorescence effect (CEQF) in acetonitrile due to the increased fluorescence quenching rate of the complexed fluoroionophore. The association constants for 1 :1 stoichiometry InK a have been obtained using the relationship 1/K a[L 0] = (1 –P)2/P. It was shown that the preferential interaction rule of compatibility of cationic radii and macrocyclic ring size is in excellent agreement with the association constants obtained by fluorescence spectroscopy. The order of InK a found for benzo[15]crown-5 complexation was Li+ > Na+ > K+ and K+ > Na+ > Li+ for benzo[18]crown-6 in acetonitrile.Presented at the Sixth International Seminar on Inclusion Compounds, Istanbul, Turkey, 27–31 August, 1995.  相似文献

The reactions between alkali metal ions and crown ethers, aza crown ethers, and cryptands in propylene carbonate were studied by potentiometric and calorimetric titrations. The most stable complexes formed by macrocyclic and macrobicyclic ligands are when the ligand and cation dimensions are comparable. On comparing the complex stabilities of crown ethers and aza crown ethers of the same size, crown ethers were, on the whole, found to form the most stable complexes, with the exception of the lithium cation. Enthalpic factors are responsible. Substitution of the amino group protons of the aza crown ethers by benzyl groups leads to a high increase in values of the reaction enthalpy. This effect is partly compensated by entropic contributions. The bulky benzyl groups reduce the ligand solvent interactions and induce a ligand conformation with the lone pair of electrons from the nitrogen donor atoms which are more or less directed inside the cavity. The thermodynamic data for the transfer from methanol to propylene carbonate indicate that the ligands containing nitrogen show specific interactions with methanol. This paper is dedicated to Professor H. Strehlow on the occasion of his 70th birthday.  相似文献

The complex forming properties with alkali metal and ammonium ions of a series of oligo benzo-condensed 18-crown-6 ethers1–8 having a different gradation of lipophilicity and of molecular rigidity are investigated by voltammetry at the interface of two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES) and by a liquid-liquid extraction technique. The experimental results obtained in the two phase system H2O/nitrobenzene are discussed in relation to the structure of the crown and the cation type. The stability constants for the 1 : 1 complexes of Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+ and NH 4 + in nitrobenzene have been determined and compared with the extraction constants for the 1: 1 complexes of Na+ and K+ and for the 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 complexes of Cs+, showing the effect of oligo benzo condensation for the 18-crown-6 system.  相似文献

Both the stoichiometry and complex stability constants of crown ether complexes with metal ions have been determined by examining gradual changes in their diffusional behavior in nonaqueous solution. Diffusion coefficients, D, were evaluated by pulsed field gradient (PFG) NMR titration experiments whilst complex stability constants were determined by nonlinear curve-fitting procedures, D versus csol., which also allow the treatment of multiple complexation equilibria (1:1 to 1:2 stoichiometries). Differences in the diffusion coefficients of the various free crown ethers with respect to their metal ion complexes indicate great sensitivity to both conformational changes and changes in molecular size upon complexation.  相似文献

Summary Retention of crown ethers in reverse-phase HPLC has been determined by their bonding ability with cations present in the eluent. The dependence of retention of crown ethers on cation concentration exhibits an inflection and makes it possible to calculate stability constant for the crown ether-cation complex. It is shown that in 75% MeOH retention of antitumor antibiotic, actinomycin D, depends on [Na+] and not on [K+] at concentrations of K+ from 5×10–7 to 10–1 mol l–1. Hence, actinomycin D may be classified as an ionophore-antibiotic.  相似文献

The formation of complexes between crown ethers and acetonitrile, chloroform, and nitromethane were investigated in carbon tetrachloride at 25°C. A significant influence of the ring size on the selectivity of the host is evident. The host 18-crown-6 forms complexes for which the reaction enthalpy and entropy are quite high. Host molecules with benzene side groups form complexes of lower reaction enthalpy and entropy and therefore the complexes formed are less stable than that of the analogous crown ethers without aromatic groups. Solvent effects on the stability constant K, the reaction enthalpy H, and the reaction entropy S were studied for the complexation of malonitrile by 18-crown-6. The reaction enthalpy and entropy values change in accordance with the dielectric constant of the solvent used, but no overall effect on complex stability with change in solvent dielectric constant was observed.  相似文献

Four cone calix[4]arene-1,2-crown ethers each with two ionisable side arms containing dansyl groups are synthesised. The crown ether ring on the lower rim is varied from crown-4 to crown-5 with hydrogen or tert-butyl groups on the para position of the upper rim. Di(tetramethylammonium) salts of the di-ionised ligands are utilised for spectrofluorimetric titration experiments in MeCN. The influence of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and selected transition and heavy metal (Co2+, Fe2+, Hg2+, Mn2+, Pb2+, Zn2+ and Fe3+) cations on the spectroscopic properties of the two dansyl groups linked to the lower rim of the conformationally locked, di-ionised calix[4]arene-1,2-crown ether frameworks is investigated by emission spectrophotometry. All of the metal cations induce red shifts in the emission spectra of the di-ionised ligands. The metal cations produce enhancement or quenching of the fluorescence emissions. Changes in the fluorescence emission as a function of the metal cation identity, the lower rim crown ether ring size and the absence or presence of upper rim tert-butyl groups are investigated.  相似文献

The preparation and X-ray structure determinations of six complexes of urea and (O-n-butyliso)uronium salts with crown ethers are presented. Urea forms isostructural 5:1 adducts with 18-crown-6 (1) and aza-18-crown-6 (2), in which two urea molecules are each hydrogen bonded to two neighbouring hetero atoms of the macroring. The remaining urea molecules form two-dimensional layers alternating with crown ether layers. In both complexes the macroring has theg + g + a ag a ag a g g a ag + a ag + a conformation withC i symmetry. In the solid 1:1 complex of O-n-butylisouronium picrate with 18-crown-6 (3) two types of conformations of the macroring were observed: theg + g + a ag a ag + a ag g ag a ag + a conformation with approximateC m symmetry and to a lesser extent theg + g + a ag a ag + a g + g + a ag a ag + a conformation with approximateC 2 symmetry. Both conformations allow the guest to form three hydrogen bonds to the macrocyclic host. Three complexes of 18-crown-6 and uronium salts have been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The 1:1 complexes with uronium nitrate (4) and uronium picrate (5) both exhibit the sameC 2 conformation and the same hydrogen bonding scheme as in the least occupied form of the previous complex. A 1:2 complex with uroniump-toluenesulphonate (6) has a different hydrogen bonding scheme (two hydrogen bonds per cation to neighbouring oxygen atoms of the macroring) and a different conformation of the host molecule (theag + a ag a ag + a ag a ag + a ag a conformation with almostD 3d symmetry). An attempt to prepare a solid uronium nitrate complex with diaza-18-crown-6 in the same way as the 18-crown-6·uronium nitrate (1:1) complex did not yield the expected result. Instead X-ray analysis revealed that the uronium ion is dissociated, resulting in the nitrate salt of the diprotonated diaza crown ether (7). The thermodynamic formation constants Kf for complexation of Li+, Na+ and K+ with the crown ethers 12C4 and 15C5 have been determined in methanol and acetonitrile at 25°C using precision conductivity data. The method permits evaluation of very small Kf values (e.g., Kf=6.98 mol–1-dm3 for LiClO4+12C4 in methanol) as well as fairly large values (e.g., Kf=2.73×104 mol–1-dm3 for NaClO4+15C5 in acetonitrile). The determination of Kf values from conductivity data takes into consideration the often neglected ion pair formation of both the uncomplexed and the complexed cations. Our results for Kf are generally consistent with previously reported values based on potentiometry, calorimetry and polarography, but there are significant differences in several cases which we attribute to neglect of ion association both for the uncomplexed or free cation Ka and the macrocyclic complexed cation Ka2. Our results are also consistent with the well known concepts relating the magnitude of Kf to both the cavity diameter and ion-solvent interactions. Limiting molar conductivities 2 0 for the complex salt (M-crown ether) (ClO4) in both solvents were generally found to be smaller or very close to the corresponding quantity 1 0 for the binary MClO4-solvent system. However, in methanol, single ion limiting molar conductivities for the cationic complexes 2 0 exhibit anomalous behavior which is attributed to solvation differences between free cations and complexed cations.  相似文献

We report here the facile, room temperature, catalyst free, one pot synthesis of aliphatic bridged diaryloxy compounds, cyclic and crown ethers. Anhydrous potassium carbonate (K2CO3) as a mild base along with dimethyl sulfoxide generates the phenoxide ion which facilitates the nucleophilic substitution of bromoalkanes to yield the corresponding crown ethers.  相似文献

Two series of di-ionizable calix[4]arene-1,2-crown-5 and -crown-6 ethers in cone conformations are synthesized. The ionizable groups are oxyacetic acid moieties and N-(X)sulfonyl oxyacetamide units with X=methyl, phenyl, 4-nitrophenyl, and trifluoromethyl, which ‘tunes’ their acidity. For competitive solvent extraction of alkaline earth metal cations from aqueous solutions into chloroform, the new ligands with N-(X)sulfonyl carbamoyl groups are efficient extractants with Ba2+ selectivity. On the other hand, the dicarboxylic acid analogues exhibit little selectivity in extraction of alkaline earth metal cations. For single species extractions of Pb2+, the ligands with both types of ionizable groups show very good extractions abilities. In single species extractions of Hg2+, the N-(X)sulfonyl carboxamide ligands are highly efficient, in contrast to the dicarboxylic acid compounds. Influences of the ionizable group identity, the crown ether ring size, and the presence of upper-rim p-tert-butyl groups on divalent metal ion extraction are explored.  相似文献

Double (spin and fluorescence) labeled pyrroline derivatives of crown ethers containing an acridone or an acridine fluorophore unit (1 and 2) and their diamagnetic analogues (3 and 4) were synthesized. Their fluorescent behavior as well as their complexation properties toward selected metal ions (Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Zn2+) were examined.  相似文献

The enthalpies of dilution and densities of aqueous solutions of 12-crown-4, 15-crown-5, 18-crown-6, 1,10-diaza-18-crown-6 and cryptand (222) were measured at 25°C. The excess enthalpies and enthalpic coefficients of solute-solute interactions were calculated by the McMillan-Mayer theory formalism. Values for the apparent molar volumes at infinite dilution were determined by extrapolation. The contributions of the-CH2CH2O-group to values of h2 and to the limiting partial molar volume were calculated for the series of crown ethers studied. It is concluded that the hydrophobic hydration and the hydrophobic solute-solute interaction are predominant in the solutions investigated.  相似文献
