Operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy identified that the concentration of Fe2+ species in the working state-of-the-art Pt−FeOx catalysts quantitatively correlates to their preferential carbon monoxide oxidation steady-state reaction rate at ambient temperature. Deactivation of such catalysts with time on stream originates from irreversible oxidation of active Fe2+ sites. The active Fe2+ species are presumably Fe+2O−2 clusters in contact with platinum nanoparticles; they coexist with spectator trivalent oxidic iron (Fe3+) and metallic iron (Fe0) partially alloyed with platinum. The concentration of active sites and, therefore, the catalyst activity strongly depends on the pretreatment conditions. Fe2+ is the resting state of the active sites in the preferential carbon monoxide oxidation cycle.  相似文献

It remains challenging to rationally synthesize iron/nitrogen-doped carbon (Fe/N-C) catalysts with rich Fe−Nx atomic active sites for improved oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) electrocatalysis. A highly efficient Fe/N-C catalyst, which has been synthesized through a spatial isolation strategy, is reported. Derived from bioinspired polydopamine (PDA)-based hybrid microsphere precursors, it is a multifunctional carrier that loads atomically dispersed Fe3+/Zn2+ ions through coordination interactions and N-rich melamine through electrostatic attraction and covalent bonding. The Zn2+ ions and melamine in the precursor efficiently isolate Fe3+ atoms upon pyrolysis to form rich Fe−Nx atomic active sites, and generate abundant micropores during high-temperature treatment; as a consequence, the resultant Fe-N/C catalyst contains rich catalytically active Fe−Nx sites and a hierarchical porous structure. The catalyst exhibits improved ORR activity that is superior to and close to that of Pt/C in alkaline and acidic solutions, respectively.  相似文献

Unremitting and intensive researches about efficient non-precious metal electrocatalysts are necessary for large-scale commercial applications of fuel cells, while iron and nitrogen co-doped carbon(Fe-N-C)materials has become one of the most promising electrocatalysts to replace Pt-based noble metal catalysts. However, the traditional Fe-doped ZIF with rhomb dodecahedron morphology limits the exposure of active sites and the utilization of atoms, even affecting the performance of the catalyst. The facile synthesis of a porous carbon material that is doped with iron‐coordinated nitrogen active sites (FeNC‐70) is demonstrated by following an inexpensive synthetic pathway with a zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF‐70) as a template. To emphasize the possibility of tuning the porosity and surface area of the resulting carbon materials based on the structure of the parent ZIF, two other ZIFs, that is, ZIF‐68 and ZIF‐69, are also synthesized. The resulting active carbon material that is derived from ZIF‐70, that is, FeNC‐70, exhibits the highest BET surface area of 262 m2 g?1 compared to the active carbon materials that are derived from ZIF‐68 and ZIF‐69. The HR‐TEM images of FeNC‐70 show that the carbon particles have a bimodal structure that is composed of a spherical macroscopic pore (about 200 nm) and a mesoporous shell. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) reveals the presence of Fe‐N‐C moieties, which are the primary active sites for the oxygen‐reduction reaction (ORR). Quantitative estimation by using EDAX analysis reveals a nitrogen content of 14.5 wt. %, along with trace amounts of iron (0.1 wt. %), in the active FeNC‐70 catalyst. This active porous carbon material, which is enriched with Fe‐N‐C moieties, reduces the oxygen molecule with an onset potential at 0.80 V versus NHE through a pathway that involves 3.3–3.8 e? under acidic conditions, which is much closer to the favored 4 e? pathway for the ORR. The onset potential of FeNC‐70 is significantly higher than those of its counterparts (FeNC‐68 and FeNC‐69) and of other reported systems. The FeNC‐based systems also exhibit much‐higher tolerance towards MeOH oxidation and electrochemical stability during an accelerated durability test (ADT). Electrochemical analysis and structural characterizations predict that the active sites for the ORR are most likely to be the in situ generated N? FeN2+2/C moieties, which are distributed along the carbon framework.  相似文献

The effect of the calcination temperature on the properties of supported iron oxide catalysts for hydrogen sulfide oxidation prepared by impregnation of silica with iron(III) nitrate has been studied. An increase in the calcination temperature was found to diminish the catalytic activity of the Fe2O3/SiO2 catalysts in hydrogen sulfide oxidation. This behavior can be explained by the agglomeration of iron oxide particles and by a decrease in the surface concentration of active sites. It has been shown that an increase in the calcination temperature makes the catalyst more stable towards the sulfidation of the active component (Fe2O3) to the iron disulfide phase.  相似文献

The phase-pure LiFePO4/C cathode materials have been successfully fabricated by precursor containing Fe2O3 coated with polyaniline through carbothermal reduction method. The polyaniline coating at Fe2O3 could restrict the growth of crystal and subsequently become electric carbon at higher synthesis temperature. Compared with conventional carbothermal reduction method, the sample showed a better capacity and less than 3% capacity fading after 30 cycles at various charge and discharge rate.  相似文献

Being abundant and active,Fe_2O_3 is suitable for selective oxidation of H_2S.However,its practical application is limited due to the poor sulfur selectivity and rapid deactivation.Herein,we report a facile template-free hydrothermal method to fabricate porous α-Fe_2O_3/SnO_2 composites with hierarchical nanoflower that can obviously improve the catalytic performance of Fe_2O_3.It was disclosed that the synergistic effect between α-Fe_2O_3 and SnO_2 promotes the physico-chemical properties of α-Fe_2O_3/SnO_2 composites.Specifically, the electron transfer between the Fe~(2+)/Fe~(3+) and Sn~(2+)/Sn~(4+) redox couples enhances the reducibility of α-Fe_2O_3/SnO_2 composites. The number of oxygen vacancies is improved when the Fe cations incorporate into SnO_2 structure, which facilitates the adsorption and activation of oxygen species.Additionally, the porous structure improves the accessibility of H_2 S to active sites.Among the composites,Fe1 Sn1 exhibits complete H_2 S conversion with 100% sulfur selectivity at 220℃,better than those of pure α-Fe_2O_3 and SnO_2.Moreover,Fe1 Sn1 catalyst shows high stability and water resistance.  相似文献

A variety of spherical and structured activated charcoal supported Pt/Fe3O4 composites with an average particle size of ~100 nm have been synthesized by a self-assembly method using the difference of reduction potential between Pt (IV) and Fe (Ⅱ) precursors as driving force. The formed Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) effectively prevent the aggregation of Pt nanocrystallites and promote the dispersion of Pt NPs on the surface of catalyst, which will be favorable for the exposure of Pt active sites for high-efficient adsorption and contact of substrate and hydrogen donor. The electron-enrichment state of Pt NPs donated by Fe3O4 nanocrystallites is corroborated by XPS measurement, which is responsible for promoting and activating the terminal C=O bond of adsorbed substrate via a vertical configuration. The experimental results show that the activated charcoal supported Pt/Fe3O4 catalyst exhibits 94.8% selectivity towards cinnamyl alcohol by the transfer hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde with Pt loading of 2.46% under the optimum conditions of 120℃ for 6 h, and 2-propanol as a hydrogen donor. Additionally, the present study demonstrates that a high-efficient and recyclable catalyst can be rapidly separated from the mixture due to its natural magnetism upon the application of magnetic field.  相似文献

The designs of efficient and inexpensive Pt-based catalysts for methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) are essential to boost the commercialization of direct methanol fuel cells. Here, the highly catalytic performance PtFe alloys supported on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) decorating nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) have been successfully prepared via co-engineering of the surface composition and electronic structure. The Pt1Fe3@NC/MWCNTs catalyst with moderate Fe3+ feeding content (0.86 mA/mgPt) exhibits 2.26-fold enhancement in MOR mass activity compared to pristine Pt/C catalyst (0.38 mA/mgPt). Furthermore, the CO oxidation initial potential of Pt1Fe3@NC/MWCNTs catalyst is lower relative to Pt/C catalyst (0.71 V and 0.80 V). Benefited from the optimal surface compositions, the anti-corrosion ability of MWCNT, strong electron interaction between PtFe alloys and MWCNTs and the N-doped carbon (NC) layer, the Pt1Fe3@NC/MWCNTs catalyst presents an improved MOR performance and anti-CO poisoning ability. This study would open up new perspective for designing efficient electrocatalysts for the DMFCs field.  相似文献

Competition from hydrogen/oxygen evolution reactions and low solubility of N2 in aqueous systems limited the selectivity and activity on nitrogen fixation reaction. Herein, we design an aerobic-hydrophobic Janus structure by introducing fluorinated modification on porous carbon nanofibers embedded with partially carbonized iron heterojunctions (Fe3C/Fe@PCNF-F). The simulations prove that the Janus structure can keep the internal Fe3C/Fe@PCNF-F away from water infiltration and endow a N2 molecular-concentrating effect, suppressing the competing reactions and overcoming the mass-transfer limitations to build a robust “quasi-solid–gas” state micro-domain around the catalyst surface. In this proof-of-concept system, the Fe3C/Fe@PCNF-F exhibits excellent electrocatalytic performance for nitrogen fixation (NH3 yield rate up to 29.2 μg h−1 mg−1cat. and Faraday efficiency (FE) up to 27.8 % in nitrogen reduction reaction; NO3 yield rate up to 15.7 μg h−1 mg−1cat. and FE up to 3.4 % in nitrogen oxidation reaction).  相似文献

We present a novel strategy for the scalable fabrication of γ‐Fe2O3@3DPCF, a three‐dimensional porous carbon framework (PCF) anchored ultra‐uniform and ultra‐stable γ‐Fe2O3 nanocatalyst. The γ‐Fe2O3@3DPCF nanocomposites were facilely prepared with the following route: condensation of iron(III) acetylacetonate with acetylacetonate at room temperature to form the polymer precursor (PPr), which was carbonized subsequently at 800 °C. The homogeneous aldol condensation offered an ultra‐uniform distribution of iron, so that the γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) were uniformly distributed in the 3D carbon architecture with the average size of approximate 20 nm. The Fe2O3 NPs were capped with carbon, so that the iron oxide maintained its γ‐phase instead of the more stable α‐phase. The nanocomposite was an excellent catalyst for the reduction of nitroarene; it gave >99 % conversion and 100 % selectivity for the reduction of nitroarenes to the corresponding anilines at 100 °C. The fabrication of the γ‐Fe2O3@3DPCF nanocatalyst represents a green and scalable method for the synthesis of novel carbon‐based metal oxide nanostructures.  相似文献

Successful design of reversible oxygen electrocatalysts does not only require to consider their activity towards the oxygen reduction (ORR) and the oxygen evolution reactions (OER), but also their electrochemical stability at alternating ORR and OER operating conditions, which is important for potential applications in reversible electrolyzers/fuel cells or metal/air batteries. We show that the combination of catalyst materials containing stable ORR active sites with those containing stable OER active sites may result in a stable ORR/OER catalyst if each of the active components can satisfy the current demand of their respective reaction. We compare the ORR/OER performances of oxides of Mn (stable ORR active sites), Fe (stable OER active sites), and bimetallic Mn0.5Fe0.5 (reversible ORR/OER catalyst) supported on oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Despite the instability of Mn and Fe oxide for the OER and the ORR, respectively, Mn0.5Fe0.5 exhibits high stability for both reactions.

A ferrocene‐based ionic liquid (Fe‐IL) is used as a metal‐containing feedstock with a nitrogen‐enriched ionic liquid (N‐IL) as a compatible nitrogen content modulator to prepare a novel type of non‐precious‐metal–nitrogen–carbon (M‐N‐C) catalysts, which feature ordered mesoporous structure consisting of uniform iron oxide nanoparticles embedded into N‐enriched carbons. The catalyst Fe10@NOMC exhibits comparable catalytic activity but superior long‐term stability to 20 wt % Pt/C for ORR with four‐electron transfer pathway under alkaline conditions. Such outstanding catalytic performance is ascribed to the populated Fe (Fe3O4) and N (N2) active sites with synergetic chemical coupling as well as the ordered mesoporous structure and high surface area endowed by both the versatile precursors and the synthetic strategy, which also open new avenues for the development of M‐N‐C catalytic materials.  相似文献

A facile method is reported to form a honeycomb‐like porous nanomaterial by intercalation of iron nitrate using nature silk sericin (SS) as nitrogen and carbon source. A series of Fe2O3 nanoparticles anchored on Fe2O3‐N‐doped graphite carbon electrocatalysts (SS‐Fe) were synthesized, exhibits well‐defined pore structure and excellent oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalytic activities. Among these materials, SS‐Fe‐0.5 shows the best performance, the overpotential of SS‐Fe‐0.5 at 10 mA · cm–2 is 440 mV (vs. RHE) and the Tafel slope is only 68 mV · dec–1. The results indicate that it is promising to the preparation of carbon catalyst materials using natural, renewable and abundant resources for electrocatalysis.  相似文献

Despite the promising application of porous Si‐based anodes in future Li ion batteries, the large‐scale synthesis of these materials is still a great challenge. A scalable synthesis of porous Si materials is presented by the Rochow reaction, which is commonly used to produce organosilane monomers for synthesizing organosilane products in chemical industry. Commercial Si microparticles reacted with gas CH3Cl over various Cu‐based catalyst particles to substantially create macropores within the unreacted Si accompanying with carbon deposition to generate porous Si/C composites. Taking advantage of the interconnected porous structure and conductive carbon‐coated layer after simple post treatment, these composites as anodes exhibit high reversible capacity and long cycle life. It is expected that by integrating the organosilane synthesis process and controlling reaction conditions, the manufacture of porous Si‐based anodes on an industrial scale is highly possible.  相似文献

Electrocatalysts for both the oxygen reduction and evolution reactions (ORR and OER) are vital for the performances of rechargeable metal–air batteries. Herein, we report an advanced bifunctional oxygen electrocatalyst consisting of porous metallic nickel‐iron nitride (Ni3FeN) supporting ordered Fe3Pt intermetallic nanoalloy. In this hybrid catalyst, the bimetallic nitride Ni3FeN mainly contributes to the high activity for the OER while the ordered Fe3Pt nanoalloy contributes to the excellent activity for the ORR. Robust Ni3FeN‐supported Fe3Pt catalysts show superior catalytic performance to the state‐of‐the‐art ORR catalyst (Pt/C) and OER catalyst (Ir/C). The Fe3Pt/Ni3FeN bifunctional catalyst enables Zn–air batteries to achieve a long‐term cycling performance of over 480 h at 10 mA cm−2 with high efficiency. The extraordinarily high performance of the Fe3Pt/Ni3FeN bifunctional catalyst makes it a very promising air cathode in alkaline electrolyte.  相似文献

A composite of highly dispersed Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) anchored in three‐dimensional hierarchical porous carbon networks (Fe3O4/3DHPC) as an anode material for lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) was prepared by means of a deposition technique assisted by a supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2)‐expanded ethanol solution. The as‐synthesized Fe3O4/3DHPC composite exhibits a bimodal porous 3D architecture with mutually connected 3.7 nm mesopores defined in the macroporous wall on which a layer of small and uniform Fe3O4 NPs was closely coated. As an anode material for LIBs, the Fe3O4/3DHPC composite with 79 wt % Fe3O4 (Fe3O4/3DHPC‐79) delivered a high reversible capacity of 1462 mA h g?1 after 100 cycles at a current density of 100 mA g?1, and maintained good high‐rate performance (728, 507, and 239 mA h g?1 at 1, 2, and 5 C, respectively). Moreover, it showed excellent long‐term cycling performance at high current densities, 1 and 2 A g?1. The enhanced lithium‐storage behavior can be attributed to the synergistic effect of the porous support and the homogeneous Fe3O4 NPs. More importantly, this straightforward, highly efficient, and green synthetic route will definitely enrich the methodologies for the fabrication of carbon‐based transition‐metal oxide composites, and provide great potential materials for additional applications in supercapacitors, sensors, and catalyses.  相似文献
