Alkyne-tethered imidazole and 1,2,4-triazole-based N-heterocyclic carbene precursors have been prepared and studies of the intramolecular reactions of carbenes are performed. Products consistent with intramolecular cyclizations and subsequent rearrangements were observed. Mechanistic studies using crossover experiments showed that the products did arise from intramolecular carbene additions. The reactions are proposed to go through vinylogous diaminocarbene intermediates similar to vinylogous dialkoxycarbenes formed during Boger cycloaddition reactions. Imidazole substituted dienes were observed to be the major products of tandem cyclization and elimination reactions that were observed for imidazole-based N-heterocyclic carbenes.  相似文献

Attempts towards the synthesis of two novel four-membered 1,3-diazetidine based N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) containing an organic backbone with a carbonyl functionality were undertaken. These carbenes cannot be isolated but the respective carbene dimers are obtained in quantitative yield which undergo a degradation and rearrangement sequence upon thermal exposure. Some of the species involved in these thermal reactions could be isolated and characterized, others were observed by mass spectrometric experiments. Ab initio and density functional theory (DFT) calculations provide a mechanistic rationale for the experimental observations. Since dimerization is strongly favored, classic carbene trapping reactions remain a goal to achieve.  相似文献

This study details attempts to access N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) featuring the diazaborolyl group, {(HCNDipp)2B}, as one or both of the N-bound substituents, to generate strongly electron-donating and sterically imposing new carbene ligands. Attempts to isolate N-heterocyclic carbenes based around imidazolylidene or related heterocycles, are characterized by facile N-to-C migration of the boryl substituent. In the cases of imidazolium precursors bearing one N-bound diazaborolyl group and one methyl substituent, deprotonation leads to the generation of the target carbenes, which can be characterized in situ by NMR measurements, and trapped by reactions with metal fragments and elemental selenium. The half-lives of the free carbenes at room temperature range from 4–50 h (depending on the pattern of ancillary substituents) with N-to-C2 migration of the boryl function being shown to be the predominant rearrangement pathway. Kinetic studies show this to be a first-order process that occurs with an entropy of activation close to zero. DFT calculations imply that an intramolecular 1,2-shift is mechanistically feasible, with calculated activation energies of the order of 90–100 kJ mol−1, reflecting the retention of significant aromatic character in the imidazole ring in the transition state. Trapping of the carbene allows for evaluation of steric and electronic properties through systems of the type LAuCl, LRh(CO)2Cl, and LSe. A highly unsymmetrical (but nonetheless bulky) steric profile and moderately enhanced σ-donor capabilities (compared with IMes) are revealed.  相似文献

Sydnone methides represent an almost unknown class of mesoionic compounds which possess exocyclic carbon substituents instead of oxygen (sydnones) or nitrogen (sydnone imines) in the 5-position of a 1,2,3-oxadiazolium ring. Unsubstituted 4-positions give rise to the generation of anionic N-heterocyclic carbenes by deprotonation. Preparations of new sydnone methides are described here. They can be represented by mesomeric structures with either exocyclic carbanionic groups like −C(CN)2, −C(CN)(COOMe), −C(CN)(CONH2), and −C(CN)(SO2Me), or with the corresponding exocyclic C=C double bonds as a common feature with mesoionic N-heterocyclic olefins. An X-ray single structure analysis revealed a length of 140.7(3) pm of the exocyclic bond in the solid state. From the coalescence temperature (55 °C) determined by a series of 13C NMR experiments (150 MHz) at various temperatures, an energy of rotation of 18.5 Kcal/mol was calculated for this bond. The 13C NMR signals of the anionic N-heterocyclic carbenes, from which the 2-mesityl-substituted anionic NHC proved to be stable up to 10 °C, are highly shifted upfield (δcarbene=157.9 ppm−160.5 ppm). The carbenes can be reacted in situ with elemental selenium and chlorophosphanes to yield sydnone methide selenoethers after methylation and 4-phosphanylsydnone methides in good to excellent yields, respectively.  相似文献

Unstable N-heterocyclic carbenes can be masked and stabilized as pseudo-cross-conjugated hetarenium-carboxylates which decarboxylate on warming. This study deals with the decarboxylation of carboxylates of mesoionic compounds to generate anionic N-heterocyclic carbenes. Lithium sydnone-4-carboxylates were therefore prepared via 4-bromosydnones by halogen-lithium exchange with nBuLi and subsequent treatment with carbon dioxide. Protonation gave the corresponding sydnone-4-carboxylic acids. Thermogravimetric measurements in addition to temperature dependent IR spectroscopy proved the decarboxylation of lithium sydnone-4-carboxylates and formation of the corresponding sydnone anions which can be represented as anionic N-heterocyclic carbenes. In DMSO-d6 solution, water favors the decarboxylation. Calculations have been performed to elucidate the mechanism of the decarboxylation in the absence and presence of water.  相似文献

The synthesis of ambiphilic N-heterocyclic carbene ligand, indol-2-ylidene (IdY, A ), is described. A series of indolenium precursors ( 2 a – f ) were prepared on a gram scale in good yields. Trapping experiments with elemental selenium, [RhCl(cod)]2 and CuCl provided the expected carbene adducts. Further computational and spectroscopic studies supported the ambiphilicity of IdY, which lies between cyclic (alkyl)(amino)carbenes (CAAC-5) and cyclic (amino)(aryl)carbene (CAArC). The copper complexes ( 6 ) show high percent buried volume (% Vbur = 58.1) and allow for carboboration of terminal alkynes within 30 minutes in a demonstration of synthetic utility with good yields and high regioselectivity.  相似文献

An atom-economic approach that has an unprecedented high selectivity for the synthesis of lactic acid (LA) based on a catalytic dehydrogenative cross-coupling by using inexpensive bulk ethylene glycol and methanol is described. This method relies on the synthesis and utilization of a novel iridium catalyst bearing three N-heterocyclic carbenes derived from 1,3-dimethylbenzimidazolium salts, and exhibits outstanding activity in the production of LA [turnover frequency (TOF) up to 3660 h−1] owing to an elegant metal–ligand cooperation.  相似文献

Novel carbohydrate bearing imidazolium salts have been synthesized and used for the in situ generation of the corresponding N-heterocyclic carbenes. These compounds were successfully used as catalysts of the conjugate umpolung of cinnamaldehyde to form γ-butyrolactones. The chemistry of heterocyclic carbenes has experienced a rapid development over the last years. In addition to the imidazolin-2-ylidenes, a large number of cyclic diaminocarbenes with different ring sizes have been described. Aside from diaminocarbenes, P-heterocyclic carbenes, and derivatives with only one, or even no heteroatom within the carbene ring are known. New methods for the synthesis of complexes with N-heterocyclic carbene ligands such as the oxidative addition or the metal atom template controlled cyclization of beta-functionalized isocyanides have been developed recently. The diverse reactivity of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) in organocatalysis is due to the possibility of different modes of action. Although NHC-bound enolates and dienolates are known, the related NHC-bound cross-conjugated aza-trienolates remain elusive. Herein, we demonstrate the NHC-catalyzed formal [6+2] annulation of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic aldehydes with α,α,α-trifluoroacetophenones leading to the formation of versatile pyrrolooxazolones (29 examples). The catalytically generated cross-conjugated aza-trienolates (aza-fulvene type) underwent smooth [6+2] annulation with electrophilic ketones to afford the product in moderate to good yields under mild conditions. Preliminary DFT studies on the mechanism are also provided.  相似文献

The discovery of NHCs (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbenes) as ancillary ligands in transition-metal-catalysis ranks as one of the most important developments in synthesis and catalysis. It is now well-recognized that the strong σ-donating properties of NHCs along with the ease of scaffold modification and a steric shielding of the N-wingtip substituents around the metal center enable dramatic improvements in catalytic processes, including the discovery of reactions that are not possible using other ancillary ligands. In this context, although the classical NHCs based on imidazolylidene and imidazolinylidene ring systems are now well-established, recently tremendous progress has been made in the development and catalytic applications of BIAN-NHC (BIAN = bis(imino)acenaphthene) class of ligands. The enhanced reactivity of BIAN-NHCs is a direct result of the combination of electronic and steric properties that collectively allow for a major expansion of the scope of catalytic processes that can be accomplished using NHCs. BIAN-NHC ligands take advantage of (1) the stronger σ-donation, (2) lower lying LUMO orbitals, (3) the presence of an extended π-system, (4) the rigid backbone that pushes the N-wingtip substituents closer to the metal center by buttressing effect, thus resulting in a significantly improved control of the catalytic center and enhanced air-stability of BIAN-NHC-metal complexes at low oxidation state. Acenaphthoquinone as a precursor enables facile scaffold modification, including for the first time the high yielding synthesis of unsymmetrical NHCs with unique catalytic properties. Overall, this results in a highly attractive, easily accessible class of ligands that bring major advances and emerge as a leading practical alternative to classical NHCs in various aspects of catalysis, cross-coupling and C−H activation endeavors.  相似文献

Phosphorus mononitride (PN) and arsenic mononitride (AsN) species supported by two different N-heterocyclic carbenes were prepared: The reaction of [(IDipp)NSiMe3] [IDipp = 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazolin-2-ylidene] with PCl3 or AsCl3 afforded the dichlorides [(IDipp)NECl2] (E = P, As) and, after the addition of IMes [IMes = 1,3-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)imidazolin-2-ylidene], the cationic chloro species [(IDipp)NE(Cl)(IMes)]Cl (E = P, As), which were reduced with potassium graphite (KC8) to yield the neutral compounds [(IMes)PN(IDipp)] and [(IMes)AsN(IDipp)], which exhibit the typical trans-bent geometry of dicarbene-dielement species in the solid state according to single-crystal X-ray diffraction.  相似文献

N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) have received significant attention as gold nanoparticle stabilizers due to their strong binding affinity towards gold. However, their tunability is limited by the difficulty in obtaining nonsymmetric NHCs. In this regard, N-acyclic carbenes (NACs) are attractive alternatives due to their high synthetic versatility, allowing easy tuning of their steric and electronic properties towards specific applications. This work reports the first series of stable and monodisperse NAC-functionalized gold nanoparticles. These particles with sizes ranging 3.8 to 11.6 nm were characterized using NMR, UV/Vis and TEM. The nanoparticles display good stability at elevated temperatures and for extended periods both dried or dispersed in a medium, as well as in the presence of exogenous thiols. Importantly, these NAC-stabilized gold nanoparticles offer a promising and versatile alternative to NHC-stabilized gold nanoparticles.  相似文献
