Redox‐inactive metal ions are one of the most important co‐factors involved in dioxygen activation and formation reactions by metalloenzymes. In this study, we have shown that the logarithm of the rate constants of electron‐transfer and C−H bond activation reactions by nonheme iron(III)–peroxo complexes binding redox‐inactive metal ions, [(TMC)FeIII(O2)]+‐Mn + (Mn +=Sc3+, Y3+, Lu3+, and La3+), increases linearly with the increase of the Lewis acidity of the redox‐inactive metal ions (ΔE ), which is determined from the gzz values of EPR spectra of O2.−‐Mn + complexes. In contrast, the logarithm of the rate constants of the [(TMC)FeIII(O2)]+‐Mn + complexes in nucleophilic reactions with aldehydes decreases linearly as the ΔE value increases. Thus, the Lewis acidity of the redox‐inactive metal ions bound to the mononuclear nonheme iron(III)–peroxo complex modulates the reactivity of the [(TMC)FeIII(O2)]+‐Mn + complexes in electron‐transfer, electrophilic, and nucleophilic reactions.  相似文献

Singlet oxygen (1O2) causes a major fraction of the parasitic chemistry during the cycling of non‐aqueous alkali metal‐O2 batteries and also contributes to interfacial reactivity of transition‐metal oxide intercalation compounds. We introduce DABCOnium, the mono alkylated form of 1,4‐diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO), as an efficient 1O2 quencher with an unusually high oxidative stability of ca. 4.2 V vs. Li/Li+. Previous quenchers are strongly Lewis basic amines with too low oxidative stability. DABCOnium is an ionic liquid, non‐volatile, highly soluble in the electrolyte, stable against superoxide and peroxide, and compatible with lithium metal. The electrochemical stability covers the required range for metal–O2 batteries and greatly reduces 1O2 related parasitic chemistry as demonstrated for the Li–O2 cell.  相似文献

We have theoretically studied the non‐identity SN2 reactions of MnOH(n?1)+CH3Cl (M+=Li+, Na+, K+, and MgCl+; n=0, 1) in the gas phase and in THF solution at the OLYP/6‐31++G(d,p) level using polarizable continuum model (PCM) implicit solvation. We want to explore and understand the effect of the metal counterion M+ and solvation on the reaction profile and the stereoselectivity of these processes. To this end, we have explored the potential energy surfaces of the backside (SN2‐b) and frontside (SN2‐f) pathways. To explain the computed trends, we have carried out analyses with an extended activation strain model (ASM) of chemical reactivity that includes the treatment of solvation effects.  相似文献

MP2 calculations show that the D∞h isoelectronic dicarbonyl complexes [M(CO)2]n (Mn=Rh, Pd0, Cu+, Ag+, Au+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Hg2+) depicted in structure 1 can be classified as classical or nonclassical depending on whether the metal–carbon bond lengths decrease or increase when weak, anionic ligands approach the metal centers.  相似文献

Alkali metals are generally Lewis acids. On the contrary, Lewis basic character of alkali metals forming donor – acceptor complexes is a very rare phenomenon. In this contribution, I have theoretically designed an anionic cluster MMN3 (M=alkali metals) on the basis of experimentally known reagent, alkali salt of azide ion MN3, which shows unprecedented M:→M donor-acceptor interaction. To the best of author's knowledge, the characterization of such donor-acceptor interaction among alkali metals is unprecedented. Formation of the 2c–2e donor-acceptor bonds have been confirmed by quantum theory of atoms in molecules and electron localization function analyses. The calculated bond dissociation energies are significant suggesting their possible spectroscopic identification.  相似文献

Ladders of relative alkali ion affinities of crown ethers and acyclic analogs were constructed by using the kinetic method. The adducts consisting of two different ethers bound by an alkali metal ion, (M1 + Cat + M2)+, were formed by using fast atom bombardment ionization to desorb the crown ethers and alkali metal ions, then collisionally activated to induce dissociation to (M1 + Cat)+ and (M2 + Cat)+ ions. Based on the relative abundances of the cationized ethers formed, orders of relative alkali ion affinities were assigned. The crown ethers showed higher affinities for specific sizes of metal ions, and this was attributed in part to the optimal spatial fit concept. Size selectivities were more pronounced for the smaller alkali metal ions such as Li+, Na+, and K+ than the larger ions such as Cs+ and Rb+. In general, the cyclic ethers exhibited greater alkali metal ion affinities than the corresponding acyclic analogs, although these effects were less dramatic as the size of the alkali metal ion increased.  相似文献

Four new mixed ligand complexes were prepared by the reaction of title metal dichloroacetates and 2,4'-bipyridine. The general formulae of synthesized compounds are M(2,4'-bpy)2(CCl2HCOO)2·nH2O (where M(II)=Mn, Co, Ni, Cu; 2,4'-bpy=2,4'-bipyridine, n=2 or 4). The complexes have been isolated from aqueous media and characterized by chemical analysis, molar conductance (in MeOH, DMSO and DMF), magnetic, IR and VIS spectral studies. The nature of metal(II)-ligand coordination is discussed. The thermal behaviour of obtained complexes was studied by thermal analysis and TG-MS techniques in air. IR, X-ray powder diffraction and thermoanalytical data were used for the determination of solid intermediate products of the thermal decomposition. The principal volatile products of thermal decomposition of complexes were proved by mass spectroscopy: H2O+, CO+ 2, HCl+ 2, Cl+ 2, NO+ and other. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Thirteen of the salts of the alkali metals (Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) with acetic, 2,2-dimethylpropionic, trifluoroacetic and heptafluorobutyric acid have been found to be sufficiently volatile to give mass spectra under normal electron impact conditions. The metal containing ions observed include (M=metal): [M]+, [MO]+, [MCO2]+, [M2], [M2O], [M2CO2] and the cluster ions [Mn (carboxylate)n-1]+ for n = 2–8.  相似文献

A novel sterically demanding bis(4-benzhydryl-benzoxazol-2-yl)methane ligand 6 (4−BzhH2BoxCH2) was gained in a straightforward six-step synthesis. Starting from this ligand monomeric [M(4-BzhH2BoxCH)] (M=Na ( 7 ), K ( 81 )) and dimeric [{M(4-BzhH2BoxCH)}2] (M=K ( 82 ), Rb ( 9 ), Cs ( 10 )) alkali metal complexes were synthesised by deprotonation. Abstraction of the potassium ion of 8 by reaction with 18-crown-6 resulted in the solvent separated ion pair [{(THF)2K@(18-crown-6)}{bis(4-benzhydryl-benzoxazol-2-yl)methanide}] ( 11 ), including the energetically favoured monoanionic (E,E)-(4-BzhH2BoxCH) ligand. Further reaction of 4−BzhH2BoxCH2 with three equivalents KH and two equivalents 18-crown-6 yielded polymeric [{(THF)2K@(18-crown-6)}{K@(18-crown-6)K(4-BzhBoxCH)}]n (n→∞) ( 12 ) containing a trianionic ligand. The neutral ligand and herein reported alkali complexes were characterised by single X-ray analyses identifying the latter as a promising precursor for low-valent main group complexes.  相似文献

We have computationally studied the bimolecular nucleophilic substitution (SN2) reactions of MnNH2(n−1) + CH3Cl (M+ = Li+, Na+, K+, and MgCl+; n = 0, 1) in the gas phase and in tetrahydrofuran solution at OLYP/6-31++G(d,p) using polarizable continuum model implicit solvation. We wish to explore and understand the effect of the metal counterion M+ and of solvation on the reaction profile and the stereochemical preference, that is, backside (SN2-b) versus frontside attack (SN2-f). The results were compared to the corresponding ion-pair SN2 reactions involving F and OH nucleophiles. Our analyses with an extended activation strain model of chemical reactivity uncover and explain various trends in SN2 reactivity along the nucleophiles F, OH, and , including solvent and counterion effects. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Incorporation of redox-inactive metals into redox-active complexes and catalysts attracts attention for engendering new reactivity modes, but this strategy has not been extensively investigated beyond the first-row of the transition metals. Here, the isolation and characterization of the first series of heterobimetallic complexes of palladium with mono-, di-, and tri-valent redox-inactive metal ions are reported. A Reinhoudt-type heteroditopic ligand with a salen-derived [N2,O2] binding site for Pd and a crown-ether-derived [O6] site has been used to prepare isolable adducts of the Lewis acidic redox-inactive metal ions ( M n+). Comprehensive data from single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveal distinctive trends in the structural properties of the heterobimetallic species, including an uncommon dependence of the Pd⋅⋅⋅ M distance on Lewis acidity. The reorganization energy associated with reduction of the heterobimetallic species is strongly modulated by Lewis acidity, with the slowest heterogeneous electron transfer kinetics associated with the strongest incorporated Lewis acids. This hitherto unexplored reorganization energy penalty for electron transfer contrasts with prior thermodynamic studies, revealing that kinetic parameters should be considered in studies of reactivity involving heterobimetallic species.  相似文献

Salts containing the monoprotonated ethylene carbonate species of were obtained by reacting it with the superacidic systems XF/MF5 (X=H, D; M=Sb, As). The salts in terms of [C3H5O3]+[SbF6], [C3H5O3]+[AsF6] and [C3H4DO3]+[AsF6] were characterized by low-temperature infrared and Raman spectroscopy. In order to generate the diprotonated species of ethylene carbonate, an excess of Lewis acid was used. However, this only led to the formation of [C3H5O3]+[Sb2F11], which was characterized by a single-crystal X-ray structure analysis. Quantum chemical calculations on the B3LYP/aug-cc-PVTZ level of theory were carried out for the [C3H5O3]+ cation and the results were compared with the experimental data. A Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) analysis revealed sp2 hybridization of each atom belonging to the CO3 moiety, thus containing a remarkably delocalized 6π-electron system. The delocalization is confirmed by a 13C NMR-spectroscopic study of [C3H5O3]+[SbF6].  相似文献

The collisionally activated dissociation mass spectra of the protonated and alkali metal cationized ions of a triazole-epothilone analogue were studied in a Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer. The fragmentation pathway of the protonated ion was characterized by the loss of the unit of C3H4O3. However, another fragmentation pathway with the loss of C3H2O2 was identified for the complex ions with Na+, K+, Rb+, and Cs+. The branching ratio of the second pathway increases with the increment of the size of alkali metal ions. Theoretical calculations based on density functional theory (DFT) method show the difference in the binding position of the proton and the metal ions. With the increase of the radii of the metal ions, progressive changes in the macrocycle of the compound are induced, which cause the corresponding change in their fragmentation pathways. It has also been found that the interaction energy between the compound and the metal ion decreases with increase in the size of the latter. This is consistent with the experimental results, which show that cesiated complexes readily eject Cs+ when subject to collisions.  相似文献

Controlling the reactivity of transition metals using secondary, σ‐accepting ligands is an active area of investigation that is impacting molecular catalysis. Herein we describe the phosphine gold complexes [(o‐Ph2P(C6H4)Acr)AuCl]+ ([ 3 ]+; Acr=9‐N‐methylacridinium) and [(o‐Ph2P(C6H4)Xan)AuCl]+ ([ 4 ]+; Xan=9‐xanthylium) where the electrophilic carbenium moiety is juxtaposed with the metal atom. While only weak interactions occur between the gold atom and the carbenium moiety of these complexes, the more Lewis acidic complex [ 4 ]+ readily reacts with chloride to afford a trivalent phosphine gold dichloride derivative ( 7 ) in which the metal atom is covalently bound to the former carbocationic center. This anion‐induced AuI/AuIII oxidation is accompanied by a conversion of the Lewis acidic carbocationic center in [ 4 ]+ into an X‐type ligand in 7 . We conclude that the carbenium moiety of this complex acts as a latent Z‐type ligand poised to increase the Lewis acidity of the gold center, a notion supported by the carbophilic reactivity of these complexes.  相似文献

The autoxidation of the Cu+ complexes with a series of six 12-, 14- and 16-membered macrocycles containing the N2S2 set of donor atoms has been studied with an oxygen electrode and with the stopped-flow technique. Inspite of the identical set of coordinating groups, the reactivity of the Cu= complexes towards O2 varies by more than 5 orders of magnitude, with rate constants between <0.1 and 2·104 M?1S?1. Simple bimolecular rate laws are obtained from initial rates of autoxidation, but successive one-electron transfers with intermediate formation of superoxide are implied from the analysis of complete reaction curves for complexes with the 12-membered macrocycles. The kinetic parameters are compared with the redox potentials for the corresponding CuL2+/CuL+ couples. Only a rather rough correlation is found and steric factors must in addition be responsible for the observed reactivity pattern which shows a decrease of autoxidation rate with increasing size of the macrocyclic ring. No systematic effect was observed for the influence of cis- vs. trans-configuration of the donor atoms.  相似文献

In alkali metal and lanthanide coordination chemistry, triphenylsiloxides seem to be unduly underappreciated ligands. This is as surprising as that such substituents play a crucial role, among others, in stabilizing rare oxidation states of lanthanide ions, taking a part of intramolecular and molecular interactions stabilizing metal-oxygen cores and many others. This paper reports the synthesis and characterization of new lithium [Li4(OSiPh3)4(THF)2] (1), and sodium [Na4(OSiPh3)4] (2) species, which were later used in obtaining novel gadolinium [Gd(OSiPh3)3(THF)3]·THF (3), and erbium [Er(OSiPh3)3(THF)3]·THF (4) configuration, it can result in res were determined for all 1–4 compounds, and in addition, IR, Raman, absorption spectroscopy studies were conducted for 3 and 4 lanthanide compounds. Furthermore, direct current (dc) variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements on polycrystalline samples of 3 and 4 were carried out in the temperature range 1.8–300 K. The 3 shows behavior characteristics for the paramagnetism of the Gd3+ ion. In contrast, the magnetic properties of 4 are dominated by the crystal field effect on the Er3+ ion, masking the magnetic interaction between magnetic centers of neighboring molecules.  相似文献

The reactions of the fluoride-ion donor, XeF6, with the fluoride-ion acceptors, M′OF4 (M′=Cr, Mo, W), yield [XeF5]+ and [Xe2F11]+ salts of [M′OF5] and [M2O2F9] (M=Mo, W). Xenon hexafluoride and MOF4 react in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride (aHF) to give equilibrium mixtures of [Xe2F11]+, [XeF5]+, [(HF)nF], [MOF5], and [M2O2F9] from which the title salts were crystallized. The [XeF5][CrOF5] and [Xe2F11][CrOF5] salts could not be formed from mixtures of CrOF4 and XeF6 in aHF at low temperature (LT) owing to the low fluoride-ion affinity of CrOF4, but yielded [XeF5][HF2]⋅CrOF4 instead. In contrast, MoOF4 and WOF4 are sufficiently Lewis acidic to abstract F ion from [(HF)nF] in aHF to give the [MOF5] and [M2O2F9] salts of [XeF5]+ and [Xe2F11]+. To circumvent [(HF)nF] formation, [Xe2F11][CrOF5] was synthesized at LT in CF2ClCF2Cl solvent. The salts were characterized by LT Raman spectroscopy and LT single-crystal X-ray diffraction, which provided the first X-ray crystal structure of the [CrOF5] anion and high-precision geometric parameters for [MOF5] and [M2O2F9]. Hydrolysis of [Xe2F11][WOF5] by water contaminant in HF solvent yielded [XeF5][WOF5]⋅XeOF4. Quantum-chemical calculations were carried out for M′OF4, [M′OF5], [M′2O2F9], {[Xe2F11][CrOF5]}2, [Xe2F11][MOF5], and {[XeF5][M2O2F9]}2 to obtain their gas-phase geometries and vibrational frequencies to aid in their vibrational mode assignments and to assess chemical bonding.  相似文献
