In this paper, we use homotopy analysis method (HAM) to solve two‐point nonlinear boundary value problems that have at least one solution. The new approach provides the solution in the form of a rapidly convergent series with easily computable components using symbolic computation software. The scheme shows importance of choice of convergence‐control parameter ? to guarantee the convergence of the solutions of nonlinear differential equations. This scheme is tested on three nonlinear exactly solvable differential equations. Two of the examples are practical in science and engineering. The results demonstrate reliability, simplicity and efficiency of the algorithm developed. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This article is devoted to an extension of boundary elements method (BEM) for solving elliptic partial differential equations of general type with constant coefficients. As the fundamental solution of these equations was not available in the literature, BEM was not able to handle them, directly. So the dual reciprocity method (DRM) has been applied to tackle these problems. In this work, a fundamental solution for these equations is obtained and a new formulation is derived to solve them. Besides, we show that the rate of convergence of the new scheme is quadratic when singular (boundary and domain) integrals are calculated, accurately. The new scheme is applicable on complex domains, without needing internal nodes, just same as conventional BEM. So the CPU time of the new scheme is much less than that of the DRM. Numerical examples presented in the article show ability and efficiency of the new scheme in solving two‐dimensional nonhomogenous elliptic boundary value problems, clearly. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We propose a method for numerically solving linear singularly perturbed two point boundary value problems in ordinary differential equations with a boundary layer on the left end of the underlying interval. This is a practical method and can be easily implemented on a computer. The original problem is divided into inner and outer region differential equation systems. The reduced problem is solved to obtain the terminal boundary condition. Then, a new inner region problem is created and solved as a two point boundary value problem (TPBVP). In turn, the outer region problem is also solved as a TPBVP. Both these TPBVPs are efficiently treated by employing a slightly modified classical finite difference scheme coupled with discrete invariant imbedding algorithm to obtain the numerical solutions. The stability of some recurrence relations involved in the algorithm is investigated. The proposed method is iterative on the terminal point. Some numerical examples are included, and the computational results are compared with exact solutions. It is observed that the accuracy predicted can always be achieved with very little computational effort.  相似文献

Summary In the well-known Volterra-Lotka model concerning two competing species with diffusion, the densities of the species are governed by a coupled system of reaction diffusion equations. The aim of this paper is to present an iterative scheme for the steady state solutions of a finite difference system which corresponds to the coupled nonlinear boundary value problems. This iterative scheme is based on the method of upper-lower solutions which leads to two monotone sequences from some uncoupled linear systems. It is shown that each of the two sequences converges to a nontrivial solution of the discrete equations. The model under consideration may have one, two or three nonzero solutions and each of these solutions can be computed by a suitable choice of initial iteration. Numerical results are given for these solutions under both the Dirichlet boundary condition and the mixed type boundary condition.  相似文献

Summary Types of boundary value problems of partial differential equations for infinite domains are discussed which can easily be transformed in such a manner as to allow estimations of error (for approximate solutions) similar to the boundary maximum principle. First, second und third boundary value problems for the outer domain of linear elliptic and certain linear and nonlinear parabolic differential equations are examined. For elliptic differential equations one of the results is that the secound boundary value problem for more than two dimensions can be included. The estimates of the paper can thus be applied to problems of flow around some object, not in the case of two but of three dimensions. This is in a certain sense a counterpart to the conformal mappings method which is successful for two but not for three dimensions. Numerical examples show that estimations of error can easily be carried out.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a new modified recursion scheme for the resolution of multi-order and multi-point boundary value problems for nonlinear ordinary and partial differential equations by the Adomian decomposition method (ADM). Our new approach, including Duan’s convergence parameter, provides a significant computational advantage by allowing for the acceleration of convergence and expansion of the interval of convergence during calculations of the solution components for nonlinear boundary value problems, in particular for such cases when one of the boundary points lies outside the interval of convergence of the usual decomposition series. We utilize the boundary conditions to derive an integral equation before establishing the recursion scheme for the solution components. Thus we can derive a modified recursion scheme without any undetermined coefficients when computing successive solution components, whereas several prior recursion schemes have done so. This modification also avoids solving a sequence of nonlinear algebraic equations for the undetermined coefficients fraught with multiple roots, which is required to complete calculation of the solution by several prior modified recursion schemes using the ADM.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the existence of at least three positive solutions of singular nonlocal boundary value problems for systems of nonlinear second-order ordinary differential equations. The associated Green’s function for the boundary value problems is first given. The proofs of our main results are based upon the Leggett–Williams fixed point theorem. In this work, an effective technique for solving a class of singular two point boundary value problems is proposed. This technique is based on the Adomian decomposition method (ADM) and Green’s function. The technique relies on constructing Green’s function before establishing the recursive scheme for the solution components. In contrast to the existing recursive schemes based on ADM, the proposed recursive scheme avoids solving a sequence of nonlinear algebraic or transcendental equations for the undetermined coefficients. The approximate solution is obtained in the form of series with easily calculable components. For the completeness, the convergence and error analysis of the proposed scheme is supplemented. Moreover, the numerical examples are included to demonstrate the accuracy, applicability, and generality of the proposed scheme. The results reveal that the method is very effective, straightforward, and simple.  相似文献

We present a new approach to numerically solving linear, singularly perturbed two point boundary value problems in ordinary differential equations with a boundary layer on the left end of the interval. The original problem is divided into outer and inner region problems. A terminal boundary condition in the implicit form is derived. Then, the outer region problem is solved as a two point boundary value problem (TPBVP), and an explicit terminal boundary condition is obtained. In turn, a new inner region problem is obtained and solved as a TPBVP using the explicit terminal boundary condition. The proposed method is iterative on the terminal point of the inner region. Some numerical examples have been solved to demonstrate the applicability of the method.  相似文献

In this series of three papers we study singularly perturbed (SP) boundary value problems for equations of elliptic and parabolic type. For small values of the perturbation parameter parabolic boundary and interior layers appear in these problems. If classical discretisation methods are used, the solution of the finite difference scheme and the approximation of the diffusive flux do not converge uniformly with respect to this parameter. Using the method of special, adapted grids, we can construct difference schemes that allow approximation of the solution and the normalised diffusive flux uniformly with respect to the small parameter. We also consider singularly perturbed boundary value problems for convection-diffusion equations. Also for these problems we construct special finite difference schemes, the solution of which converges $ε$-uniformly. We study what problems appear, when classical schemes are used for the approximation of the spatial derivatives. We compare the results with those obtained by the adapted approach. Results of numerical experiments are discussed. In the three papers we first give an introduction on the general problem, and then we consider respectively (i) Problems for SP parabolic equations, for which the solution and the normalised diffusive fluxes are required; (ii) Problems for SP elliptic equations with boundary conditions of Dirichlet, Neumann and Robin type; (iii) Problems for SP parabolic equation with discontinuous boundary conditions.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to study the existence of multiple positive solutions for the second order Dirichlet boundary value problem with impulse effects. The main results here is the generalization of Liu and Li [L. Liu, F.Y. Li, Multiple positive solution of nonlinear two-point boundary value problems, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 203 (1996) 610-625] for ordinary differential equations. Existence is established via the theory of fixed point index in cones.  相似文献
