We study several aspects of the geometry of conformally stationary Lorentz manifolds, and particularly of GRW spaces, due to the presence of a closed conformal vector field. More precisely, we begin by extending a result of J. Simons on the minimality of cones in Euclidean space to these spaces, and apply it to the construction of complete, noncompact minimal Lorentz submanifolds of both de Sitter and anti-de Sitter spaces. Then we state and prove very general Bernstein-type theorems for spacelike hypersurfaces in conformally stationary Lorentz manifolds, one of which not assuming the hypersurface to be of constant mean curvature. Finally, we study the strong r-stability of spacelike hypersurfaces of constant r-th mean curvature in a conformally stationary Lorentz manifold of constant sectional curvature, extending previous results in the current literature.  相似文献

We introduce conformally flat Fefferman-Lorentz manifold of parabolic type as a special class of Lorentz parabolic manifolds. It is a smooth (2n+2)-manifold locally modeled on (Û(n+1, 1), S 2n+1,1). As the terminology suggests, when a Fefferman-Lorentz manifold M is conformally flat, M is a Fefferman-Lorentz manifold of parabolic type. We shall discuss which compact manifolds occur as a conformally flat Fefferman-Lorentz manifold of parabolic type.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss the twistor equation in Lorentzian spin geometry. In particular, we explain the local conformal structure of Lorentzian manifolds, which admit twistor spinors inducing lightlike Dirac currents. LetM be a 3-dimensional quasi-Sasakian manifold. On such a manifold, the so-called structure function is defined. With the help of this function, we find necessary and sufficient conditions forM to be conformally flat. Next it is proved that ifM is additionally conformally flat with = const., then (a)M is locally a product ofR and a 2-dimensional Kählerian space of constant Gauss curvature (the cosymplectic case), or (b)M is of constant positive curvature (the non cosymplectic case; here the quasi-Sasakian structure is homothetic to a Sasakian structure). An example of a 3-dimensional quasi-Sasakian structure being conformally flat with nonconstant structure function is also described. An (m+2)-dimensional Lorentzian similarity manifold M is an affine flat manifold locally modeled on (G,ℝ m+2), where G = ℝ m+2 ⋊ (O(m+1, 1)×ℝ+). M is also a conformally flat Lorentzian manifold because G is isomorphic to the stabilizer of the Lorentzian group PO(m+2, 2) of the Lorentz model S m+1,1. We discuss the properties of compact Lorentzian similarity manifolds using developing maps and holonomy representations.  相似文献

We investigate the holonomy group of a linear metric connection with skew-symmetric torsion. In case of the euclidian space and a constant torsion form this group is always semisimple. It does not preserve any non-degenerated 2-form or any spinor. Suitable integral formulas allow us to prove similar properties in case of a compact Riemannian manifold equipped with a metric connection of skew-symmetric torsion. On the Aloff-Wallach space N(1,1) we construct families of connections admitting parallel spinors. Furthermore, we investigate the geometry of these connections as well as the geometry of the underlying Riemannian metric. Summary Finsler cases of the generalized-Finslerian structure associated with a product manifold are investigated. The indicatrix of any Finsler space thus obtained is found to be conformally flat in dimensionsN > 4. The cases where the indicatrix is of constant curvature are described in detail.  相似文献

A locally conformally Kähler (LCK) manifold M is one which is covered by a Kähler manifold ${\widetilde M}A locally conformally K?hler (LCK) manifold M is one which is covered by a K?hler manifold [(M)\tilde]{\widetilde M} with the deck transformation group acting conformally on [(M)\tilde]{\widetilde M}. If M admits a holomorphic flow, acting on [(M)\tilde]{\widetilde M} conformally, it is called a Vaisman manifold. Neither the class of LCK manifolds nor that of Vaisman manifolds is stable under small deformations. We define a new class of LCK-manifolds, called LCK manifolds with potential, which is closed under small deformations. All Vaisman manifolds are LCK with potential. We show that an LCK-manifold with potential admits a covering which can be compactified to a Stein variety by adding one point. This is used to show that any LCK manifold M with potential, dim M ≥ 3, can be embedded into a Hopf manifold, thus improving similar results for Vaisman manifolds Ornea and Verbitsky (Math Ann 332:121–143, 2005).  相似文献

In this note we study the conformal metrics of constant Q curvature on closed locally conformally flat manifolds. We prove that for a closed locally conformally flat manifold of dimension n ≥ 5 and with Poincaré exponent less than , the set of conformal metrics of positive constant Q and positive scalar curvature is compact in the C∞ topology.  相似文献

In this paper, we study almost C(λ)-manifolds. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for an almost contact metric manifold to be an almost C(λ)-manifold. We prove that contact analogs of A. Gray’s second and third curvature identities on almost C(λ)-manifolds hold, while a contact analog of A. Gray’s first identity holds if and only if the manifold is cosymplectic. It is proved that a conformally flat, almost C(λ)-manifold is a manifold of constant curvature λ.  相似文献

A Riemannian manifold is called Osserman (conformally Osserman, respectively), if the eigenvalues of the Jacobi operator of its curvature tensor (Weyl tensor, respectively) are constant on the unit tangent sphere at every point. The Osserman Conjecture asserts that any Osserman manifold is either flat or rank-one symmetric. We prove that both the Osserman Conjecture and its conformal version, the Conformal Osserman Conjecture, are true, modulo a certain assumption on algebraic curvature tensors in ${\mathbb {R}^{16}}$ . As a consequence, we show that a Riemannian manifold having the same Weyl tensor as a rank-one symmetric space is conformally equivalent to it.  相似文献

Let (M, g) be a compact connected spin manifold of dimension n ≥ 3 whose Yamabe invariant is positive. We assume that (M, g) is locally conformally flat or that n ∈ {3, 4, 5}. According to a positive mass theorem by Schoen and Yau the constant term in the asymptotic development of the Green’s function of the conformal Laplacian is positive if (M, g) is not conformally equivalent to the sphere. The proof was simplified by Witten with the help of spinors. In our article we will give a proof which is even considerably shorter. On an n-dimensional compact, orientable, connected Riemannian manifold, we consider the curvature operator acting on the space of covariant traceless symmetric 2-tensors. We prove that, if the curvature operator is negative, then the manifold admits no nonzero conformally Killing p-forms for p = 1, 2, …, n ? 1. On the other hand, we prove that the dimension of the vector space of conformally Killing p-forms on an n-dimensional compact simply-connected conformally flat Riemannian manifold (M,g) is not zero.  相似文献

We construct and discuss Hadamard states for both scalar and Dirac spinor fields in a large class of spatially flat Friedmann–Robertson–Walker spacetimes characterised by an initial phase either of exponential or of power-law expansion. The states we obtain can be interpreted as being in thermal equilibrium at the time when the scale factor a has a specific value a = a 0. In the case a 0 = 0, these states fulfil a strict KMS condition on the boundary of the spacetime, which is either a cosmological horizon or a Big Bang hypersurface. Furthermore, in the conformally invariant case, they are conformal KMS states on the full spacetime. However, they provide a natural notion of an approximate KMS state also in the remaining cases, especially for massive fields. On the technical side, our results are based on a bulk-to-boundary reconstruction technique already successfully applied in the scalar case and here proven to be suitable also for spinor fields. The potential applications of the states we find range over a broad spectrum, but they appear to be suited to discuss in particular thermal phenomena such as the cosmic neutrino background or the quantum state of dark matter.  相似文献

It is pointed out that the wave equations for any upper-lower one-index twistor fields which take place in the frameworks of the Infeldvan der Waerden γε-formalisms must be formally the same. The only reason for the occurrence of this result seems to be directly related to the fact that the spinor translation of the traditional conformal Killing equation yields twistor equations of the same form. It thus appears that the conventional torsionless devices for keeping track in the γ-formalism of valences of spinor differential configurations turn out not to be useful for sorting out the typical patterns of the equations at issue.  相似文献

As a counterpart of the classical Yamabe problem, a fractional Yamabe flow has been introduced by Jin and Xiong (2014) on the sphere. Here we pursue its study in the context of general compact smooth manifolds with positive fractional curvature. First, we prove that the flow is locally well posed in the weak sense on any compact manifold. If the manifold is locally conformally flat with positive Yamabe invariant, we also prove that the flow is smooth and converges to a constant fractional curvature metric. We provide different proofs using extension properties introduced by Chang and González (2011) for the conformally covariant fractional order operators.  相似文献

We study Yang-Mills connections on holomorphic bundles over complex K?hler manifolds of arbitrary dimension, in the spirit of Hitchin's and Simpson's study of flat connections. The space of non-Hermitian Yang-Mills (NHYM) connections has dimension twice the space of Hermitian Yang-Mills connections, and is locally isomorphic to the complexification of the space of Hermitian Yang-Mills connections (which is, by Uhlenbeck and Yau, the same as the space of stable bundles). Further, we study the NHYM connections over hyperk?hler manifolds. We construct direct and inverse twistor transform from NHYM bundles on a hyperk?hler manifold to holomorphic bundles over its twistor space. We study the stability and the modular properties of holomorphic bundles over twistor spaces, and prove that work of Li and Yau, giving the notion of stability for bundles over non-K?hler manifolds, can be applied to the twistors. We identify locally the following two spaces: the space of stable holomorphic bundles on a twistor space of a hyperk?hler manifold and the space of rational curves in the twistor space of the ‘Mukai’ dual hyperk?hler manifold.  相似文献
