The gas-phase reaction mechanism between palladium monoxide and methane has been theoretically investigated on the singlet and triplet state potential energy surfaces (PESs) at the CCSD(T)/AVTZ//B3LYP/6-311+G(2d, 2p), SDD level. The major reaction channel leads to the products PdCH(2) + H(2)O, whereas the minor channel results in the products Pd + CH(3)OH, CH(2)OPd + H(2), and PdOH + CH(3). The minimum energy reaction pathway for the formation of main products (PdCH(2) + H(2)O), involving one spin inversion, prefers to start at the triplet state PES and afterward proceed along the singlet state PES, where both CH(3)PdOH and CH(3)Pd(O)H are the critical intermediates. Furthermore, the rate-determining step is RS-CH(3) PdOH → RS-2-TS1cb → RS-CH(2)Pd(H)OH with the rate constant of k = 1.48 × 10(12) exp(-93,930/RT). For the first C-H bond cleavage, both the activation strain ΔE(≠)(strain) and the stabilizing interaction ΔE(≠)(int) affect the activation energy ΔE(≠), with ΔE(≠)(int) in favor of the direct oxidative insertion. On the other hand, in the PdCH(2) + H(2) O reaction, the main products are Pd + CH(3)OH, and CH(3)PdOH is the energetically preferred intermediate. In the CH(2)OPd + H(2) reaction, the main products are Pd + CH(3)OH with the energetically preferred intermediate H(2)PdOCH(2). In the Pd + CH(3)OH reaction, the main products are CH(2)OPd + H(2), and H(2)PdOCH(2) is the energetically predominant intermediate. The intermediates, PdCH(2), H(2) PdCO, and t-HPdCHO are energetically preferred in the PdC + H(2), PdCO + H(2), and H(2)Pd + CO reactions, respectively. Besides, PdO toward methane activation exhibits higher reaction efficiency than the atom Pd and its first-row congener NiO.  相似文献

Using broken-symmetry unrestricted density functional theory quantum mechanical (QM) methods in concert with mixed quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) methods, the hydroxylation of methane and substituted methanes by intermediate Q in methane monooxygenase hydroxylase (MMOH) has been quantitatively modeled. This protocol allows the protein environment to be included throughout the calculations and its effects (electrostatic, van der Waals, strain) upon the reaction to be accurately evaluated. With the current results, recent kinetic data for CH3X (X = H, CH3, OH, CN, NO2) substrate hydroxylation in MMOH (Ambundo, E. A.; Friesner, R. A.; Lippard, S. J. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2002, 124, 8770-8771) can be rationalized. Results for methane, which provide a quantitative test of the protocol, including a substantial kinetic isotope effect (KIE), are in reasonable agreement with experiment. Specific features of the interaction of each of the substrates with MMO are illuminated by the QM/MM modeling, and the resulting effects upon substrate binding are quantitatively incorporated into the calculations. The results as a whole point to the success of the QM/MM methodology and enhance our understanding of MMOH catalytic chemistry. We also identify systematic errors in the evaluation of the free energy of binding of the Michaelis complexes of the substrates, which most likely arise from inadequate sampling and/or the use of harmonic approximations to evaluate the entropy of the complex. More sophisticated sampling methods will be required to achieve greater accuracy in this aspect of the calculation.  相似文献

Hydroxylation of aliphatic C-H bonds is a chemically and biologically important reaction, which is catalyzed by the oxidoiron group FeO(2+) in both mononuclear (heme and nonheme) and dinuclear complexes. We investigate the similarities and dissimilarities of the action of the FeO(2+) group in these two configurations, using the Fenton-type reagent [FeO(2+) in a water solution, FeO(H(2)O)(5)(2+)] and a model system for the methane monooxygenase (MMO) enzyme as representatives. The high-valent iron oxo intermediate MMOH(Q) (compound Q) is regarded as the active species in methane oxidation. We show that the electronic structure of compound Q can be understood as a dimer of two Fe(IV)O(2+) units. This implies that the insights from the past years in the oxidative action of this ubiquitous moiety in oxidation catalysis can be applied immediately to MMOH(Q). Electronically the dinuclear system is not fundamentally different from the mononuclear system. However, there is an important difference of MMOH(Q) from FeO(H(2)O)(5)(2+): the largest contribution to the transition state (TS) barrier in the case of MMOH(Q) is not the activation strain (which is in this case the energy for the C-H bond lengthening to the TS value), but it is the steric hindrance of the incoming CH(4) with the ligands representing glutamate residues. The importance of the steric factor in the dinuclear system suggests that it may be exploited, through variation in the ligand framework, to build a synthetic oxidation catalyst with the desired selectivity for the methane substrate.  相似文献

The hybrid density functional method B3LYP was used to study the mechanism of the hydrocarbon (methane, ethane, methyl fluoride, and ethylene) oxidation reaction catalyzed by the complexes cis-(H(2)O)(NH(2))Fe(mu-O)(2)(eta(2)-HCOO)(2)Fe(NH(2))(H(2)O), I, and cis-(HCOO)(Imd)Fe(mu-O)(2)(eta(2)-HCOO)(2)Fe(Imd)(HCOO) (Imd = Imidazole), I_m, the "small" and "medium" model of compound Q of the methane monooxygenase (MMO). The improvement of the model from "small" to "medium" did not change the qualitative conclusions but significantly changed the calculated energetics. As in the case of methane oxidation reported by the authors previously, the reaction of all the substrates studied here is shown to start by coordination of the substrate molecule to the bridging oxygen atom, O(1) of I, an Fe(IV)-Fe(IV) complex, followed by the H-atom abstraction at the transition state III leading to the bound hydroxy alkyl intermediate IV of Fe(III)-Fe(IV) core. IV undergoes a very exothermic coupling of alkyl and hydroxy groups to give the alcohol complex VI of Fe(III)-Fe(III) core, from which alcohol dissociates. The H(b)-atom abstraction (or C-H bond activation) barrier at transition state III is found to be a few kcal/mol lower for C(2)H(6) and CH(3)F than for CH(4). The calculated trend in the H(b)-abstraction barrier, CH(4) (21.8 kcal/mol) > CH(3)F (18.8 kcal/mol) > or = C(2)H(6) (18.5 kcal/mol), is consistent with the C-H(b) bond strength in these substrates. Thus, the weaker the C-H(b) bond, the lower is the H(b)-abstraction barrier. It was shown that the replacement of a H-atom in a methane molecule with a more electronegative group tends to make the H(b)-abstraction transition state less "reactant-like". In contrast, the replacement of the H-atom in CH(4) with a less electronegative group makes the H(b)-abstraction transition state more "reactant-like". The epoxidation of ethylene by complex I is found to proceed without barrier and is a highly exothermic process. Thus, in the reaction of ethylene with complex I the only product is expected to be ethylene oxide, which is consistent with the experiment.  相似文献

Adducts of the ligand bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methane (tz(2)(CH(2))) of the form AgX:tz(2)(CH(2)):ER(3):MeCN (1:1:1:x) (X = NO(3), R = Ph, E = P, As, or Sb, x = 1 or 2; X = NO(2), ClO(4), O(3)SCF(3), E = P, R = Ph, x = 0, 1 or 2; X = NO(3), ClO(4), E = P, R = cy, x = 1; X = ClO(4), E = As, R = Ph, x = 2) and AgNO(3):tz(2)(CH(2)):P(o-tolyl)(3) (2:2:1) have been synthesized and characterized in the solid state and in solution by analyses, spectral (IR, far-IR, (1)H and (13)C NMR, ESI MS data) data, and conductivity measurements. In the one-dimensional polymers (characterized by X-ray studies) AgNO(3):tz(2)(CH(2)):PPh(3):CH(3)CN (1:1:1:1), AgClO(4):tz(2)(CH(2)):PPh(3):CH(3)CN (1:1:1:2), AgNO(3):tz(2)(CH(2)):AsPh(3): CH(3)CN (1:1:1:2), and AgNO(3):tz(2)(CH(2)):SbPh(3):CH(3)CN (1:1:1:2), the silver atom can be regarded as four-coordinate, the tz(2)(CH(2)) ligands behaving as bridging groups rather than chelates, with no pair of ligands being dominant, quasi-trans, in their interactions. The AgNO(3):tz(2)(CH(2)):P(o-tolyl)(3) (2:2:1) adduct is a two-dimensional polymer containing two independent silver atoms, one four-coordinated unsymmetrically by a pair of triazolyl rings, one P(o-tolyl)(3), and a unidentate nitrate and the second by a quasi-symmetrical O(2)NO chelate and a pair of equivalent triazolyl rings.  相似文献

The bitopic ligand p-C(6)H(4)[CH(2)OCH(2)C(pz)(3)](2) (pz = pyrazolyl ring) that contains two tris(pyrazolyl)methane units connected by a semirigid organic spacer reacts with silver(I) salts to yield [p-C(6)H(4)[CH(2)OCH(2)C(pz)(3)](2)(AgX)(2)]( infinity ), where X = CF(3)SO(3)(-) (1), SbF(6)(-) (2), PF(6)(-) (3), BF(4)(-) (4), and NO(3)(-) (5). Crystallization of the first three compounds from acetone yields [p-C(6)H(4)[CH(2)OCH(2)C(pz)(3)](2)(AgCF(3)SO(3))(2)]( infinity ) (1a), [p-C(6)H(4)[CH(2)OCH(2)C(pz)(3)](2)(AgSbF(6))(2)[(CH(3))(2)CO](2)]( infinity ) (2b), and [p-C(6)H(4)[CH(2)OCH(2)C(pz)(3)](2)AgPF(6)]( infinity ) (3a), where the stoichiometry for the latter compound has changed from a metal:ligand ratio of 2:1 to 1:1. The structure of 1a is based on helical argentachains constructed by a kappa(2)-kappa(1) coordination to silver of the tris(pyrazolyl)methane units. These chains are organized into a tubular 3D structure by cylindrical [(CF(3)SO(3))(6)](6)(-) clusters that form weak C-H...O hydrogen bonds with the bitopic ligand. The same kappa(2)-kappa(1) coordination is present in the structure of 2a, but the structure is organized by six different tris(pyrazolyl)methane units from six ligands bonding with six silvers to form a 36-member argentamacrocycle core. The cores are organized in a tubular array by the organic spacers where each pair of macrocycles sandwich six acetone molecules and one SbF(6)(-) counterion. The structure of 3a is based on a kappa(2)-kappa(0) coordination mode of each tris(pyrazolyl)methane unit forming a helical coordination polymer, with two strands organized in a double stranded helical structure by a series of C-H...pi interactions between the central arene rings. Crystallization of 2-4 from acetonitrile yields complexes of the formula [p-C(6)H(4)[CH(2)OCH(2)C(pz)(3)](2)[(AgX)(2)(CH(3)CN)(n)]]( infinity ) where n = 2 for X = SbF(6)(-) (2b), X = PF(6)(-) (3b) and n = 1 for X = BF(4)(-) (4b). All three structures contain argentachains formed by a kappa(2)-kappa(1) coordination mode of the tris(pyrazolyl)methane units linked by the organic spacer and arranged in a 2D sheet structure with the anions sandwiched between the sheets. Crystallization of 5 from acetonitrile yields crystals of the formula [p-C(6)H(4)[CH(2)OCH(2)C(pz)(3)](2)(AgNO(3))(2)(CH(3)CN)(4)]( infinity ), where the nitrate is bonded to the silver. The argentachains, again formed by kappa(2)-kappa(1) coordination, are arranged in W-shaped sheets that have an overall configuration very different from 2b-4b. Treating [p-C(6)H(4)[CH(2)OCH(2)C(pz)(3)](2)(AgSbF(6))(2)]( infinity ) with a saturated aqueous solution of KPF(6) or KO(3)SCF(3) slowly leads to complete exchange of the anion. Crystallization of a sample that contains an approximately equal mixture of SbF(6)(-)/PF(6)(-) from acetonitrile yields [p-C(6)H(4)[CH(2)OCH(2)C(pz)(3)](2)[Ag(2)(PF(6))(0.78(1))(SbF(6))(1.22(1))(CH(3)CN)(2)][(CH(3)CN)(0.25) (C(4)H(10)O)(0.25)]]( infinity ), a compound with a sheet structure analogous to 2b-4b. Crystallization of the same mixture from acetone yields [p-C(6)H(4)[CH(2)OCH(2)C(pz)(3)](2)(AgSbF(6))[(CH(3))(2)CO](1.5)]( infinity ), where the metal-to-ligand ratio is 1:1 and the [C(pz)(3)] units are kappa(2)-kappa(0) bonded forming a coordination polymer. The supramolecular structures of all species are organized by a combination of C-H...pi, pi-pi, or weak C-H-F(O) hydrogen bonding interactions.  相似文献

Methanotrophic bacteria are capable of using methane as their sole source of carbon and energy. The first step in methane metabolism, the oxidation of methane to methanol, is catalyzed by a fascinating enzyme system called methane monooxygenase (MMO). The selective oxidation of the very stable C-H bond in methane under ambient conditions is a remarkable feat that has not yet been repeated by synthetic catalysts and has attracted considerable scientific and commercial interest. The best studied MMO is a complex enzyme system that consists of three soluble protein components, all of which are required for efficient catalysis. Dioxygen activation and subsequent methane hydroxylation are catalyzed by a hydroxylase enzyme that contains a non-heme diiron site. A reductase protein accepts electrons from NADH and transfers them to the hydroxylase where they are used for the reductive activation of O(2). The third protein component couples electron and dioxygen consumption with methane oxidation. In this review we examine different aspects of catalysis by the MMO proteins, including the mechanisms of dioxygen activation at the diiron site and substrate hydroxylation by the activated oxygen species. We also discuss the role of complex formation between the different protein components in regulating various aspects of catalysis.  相似文献

Tri(2-oxy-3,5-di-tert-butylphenyl)methane, [O3]3- has been used to prepare titanium and zirconium complexes of the general formula [O3]MX (M = Ti, X = NEt2, Cl, CH2Ph; M = Zr, X = CH2Ph). The tripodal [O3] ligand in titanium complexes adopt the syn- and the anti-conformation, while the syn complex of zirconium undergoes facile C-H activation to give a 5-carbametalatrane [O3C]Zr(THF)3.  相似文献

Kinetic isotope effect data for the oxidation of deuterium-substituted methane molecules with methane monooxygenase (MMO) are analyzed in the framework of a multistep nonradical mechanism. New evidence is obtained in favor of the hypothesis of the intermediate formation of a complex containing pentacoordinated carbon. A kinetic scheme whose first step involves two hydrogen molecules of the substrate being oxidized is considered. For coincidence between the calculated and experimental distributions of the oxidation products of partially deuterated methane, the formation of the intermediate complex containing pentacoordinated carbon must be reversible and the rate of the back decomposition of this complex must be substantially higher than the rate of its formation (w ?1 ? w 1). The experimental distribution of the products of deuterated methane (CH3D, CH2D2, and CHD3) hydroxylation with MMO, which could not earlier be explained within the widely accepted oxygen rebound mechanism, is quantitatively explained for the first time in terms of the dynamics of a nonradical mechanism using parameters having a simple physical meaning and plausible values.  相似文献

A comprehensive study of the structural and spectroscopic properties of two-, three-, and four-coordinate copper(I) complexes with aliphatic phosphine ligands is presented. All complexes described in this work are characterized by X-ray crystallography. The intramolecular Cu...Cu separations in [Cu2(dcpm)2]X2, [Cu2(dcpm)2-(CH3CN)2]X2, and [Cu2(dmpm)3]-(ClO4)2 (dcpm=bis(dicyclohexylphosphino)methane; dmpm=bis(dimethylphosphino)methane; X=ClO4- and PF6-) are in the range 2.639(2)-3.021(2) A. The anion...CuI interaction is weak, as evidenced by the nearest O...Cu separation of 2.558(6) A in [Cu2(dcpm)2](ClO4)2 and the closest Cu...F separation of 2.79(1) A in [Cu2(dcpm)2](PF6)2. The absorption bands of [Cu2(dcpm)2]X2 and [Cu2(dcpm)2(CH3CN)2]X2 (X=ClO4- and PF6-) at lambda max 307-311 nm in CH2Cl2 are assigned as 1[3d sigma* --> 4p sigma] transitions; this has been confirmed by resonance Raman spectroscopy. The triplet emissions in the visible region from these complexes exhibit long lifetimes and are sensitive to the environment. The lowest emissive excited state is tentatively ascribed as 3[(dx2-y2, dxy)(pz)] in nature. For [Cu2(dcpm)2]2+ salts in CH3CN, the emissive species is postulated to be [Cu2(dcpm)2(CH3CN)n]2+ (n > or = 3). Efficient photocatalytic reduction of MV2+ (4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridinium) to MV+ in alcoholic solutions by using [Cu2(dcpm)2](PF6)2 or [Cu2(dppm)2(CH3CN)4](ClO4)2 (dppm=bis(diphenylphosphino)methane) as a catalyst has been observed. The addition of CH3CN or use of [Cu2(dmpm)3]-(ClO4)2 as a catalyst did not allow photocatalytic reduction processes to occur.  相似文献

The electronic structures of key species involved in methane hydroxylation performed by the hydroxylase component of soluble methane monooxygenase (sMMO), as proposed previously on the basis of high-level density functional theory, were investigated. The reaction starts with initial approach of methane at one of the bridging oxo atoms in intermediate Q, a di(mu-oxo)diiron(IV) unit. This step is accompanied by a proton-coupled outer-sphere transfer of the first electron from a C-H sigma-bond in methane to one of the metal centers. The second electron transfer, also an outer-sphere electron transfer process, occurs along a two-component reaction pathway. Both redox reactions are strongly coupled to structural distortions of the diiron core. The electronic consequence and driving force of these distortions are intuitively explained by using the computed Kohn-Sham orbitals in the broken-symmetry framework to incorporate the experimentally observed antiferromagnetic coupling of the unpaired electrons at the metal centers. The broken-symmetry orbital scheme is essential for describing the C-H bond activation process in a consistent and complete manner, enabling derivation of both an intuitive and quantitative understanding of the most salient electronic features that govern the details of the hydroxylation.  相似文献

Four seemingly simple transformations related to the chemistry of methane will be addressed from mechanistic and conceptual points of view: 1) metal-mediated dehydrogenation to form metal carbene complexes, 2) the hydrogen-atom abstraction step in the oxidative dimerization of methane, 3) the mechanisms of the CH(4)→CH(3)OH conversion, and 4) the initial bond scission (C-H vs. O-H) as well as the rate-limiting step in the selective CH(3)OH→CH(2)O oxidation. State-of-the-art gas-phase experiments, in conjunction with electronic-structure calculations, permit identification of the elementary reactions at a molecular level and thus allow us to unravel detailed mechanistic aspects. Where appropriate, these results are compared with findings from related studies in solution or on surfaces.  相似文献

The density functional theory method with the PBE functional, SBK pseudopotential, and extended basis sets was used to study the reaction between methane and gold(III) homoleptic complexes, namely, [AuX4]? (X = Cl, Br, I, H, CN, NH2, OH, CH3, and SH), [Au(X(CY)2X)2]? (X = S, Y = H; X = Y = O), Au2Cl6, [Au(X2(CY))2]+ (X = S, Y = NH2; X = O, Y = H), and [Au(acac)2]+, with the formation of electrophic substitution products. The activation of methane under mild conditions was found to be uncharacteristic of anionic and neutral complexes. According to calculations of cationic oxygen-containing complexes, the formation of methane complexes is possible in their reactions with methane. The energy barrier to this reaction noticeably decreases because of the activation of the C-H bond in this complex. The heat effects vary widely depending on the nature of the ligand. There is, however, no obvious correlation between their values and the activation energy of the reaction.  相似文献

An [Fe(IV)(2)(μ-O)(2)] diamond core structure has been postulated for intermediate Q of soluble methane monooxygenase (sMMO-Q), the oxidant responsible for cleaving the strong C-H bond of methane and its hydroxylation. By extension, analogous species may be involved in the mechanisms of related diiron hydroxylases and desaturases. Because of the paucity of well-defined synthetic examples, there are few, if any, mechanistic studies on the oxidation of hydrocarbon substrates by complexes with high-valent [Fe(2)(μ-O)(2)] cores. We report here that water or alcohol substrates can activate synthetic [Fe(III)Fe(IV)(μ-O)(2)] complexes supported by tetradentate tris(pyridyl-2-methyl)amine ligands (1 and 2) by several orders of magnitude for C-H bond oxidation. On the basis of detailed kinetic studies, it is postulated that the activation results from Lewis base attack on the [Fe(III)Fe(IV)(μ-O)(2)] core, resulting in the formation of a more reactive species with a [X-Fe(III)-O-Fe(IV)═O] ring-opened structure (1-X, 2-X, X = OH(-) or OR(-)). Treatment of 2 with methoxide at -80 °C forms the 2-methoxide adduct in high yield, which is characterized by an S = 1/2 EPR signal indicative of an antiferromagnetically coupled [S = 5/2 Fe(III)/S = 2 Fe(IV)] pair. Even at this low temperature, the complex undergoes facile intramolecular C-H bond cleavage to generate formaldehyde, showing that the terminal high-spin Fe(IV)═O unit is capable of oxidizing a C-H bond as strong as 96 kcal mol(-1). This intramolecular oxidation of the methoxide ligand can in fact be competitive with intermolecular oxidation of triphenylmethane, which has a much weaker C-H bond (D(C-H) 81 kcal mol(-1)). The activation of the [Fe(III)Fe(IV)(μ-O)(2)] core is dramatically illustrated by the oxidation of 9,10-dihydroanthracene by 2-methoxide, which has a second-order rate constant that is 3.6 × 10(7)-fold larger than that for the parent diamond core complex 2. These observations provide strong support for the DFT-based notion that an S = 2 Fe(IV)═O unit is much more reactive at H-atom abstraction than its S = 1 counterpart and suggest that core isomerization could be a viable strategy for the [Fe(IV)(2)(μ-O)(2)] diamond core of sMMO-Q to selectively attack the strong C-H bond of methane in the presence of weaker C-H bonds of amino acid residues that define the diiron active site pocket.  相似文献

With the goal of understanding how the nature of the tridentate macrocyclic supporting ligand influences the relative stability of isomeric mu-eta 2:eta 2-peroxo- and bis(mu-oxo)dicopper complexes, a comparative study was undertaken of the O2 reactivity of Cu(I) compounds supported by the 10- and 12-membered macrocycles, 1,4,7-R3-1,4,7-triazacyclodecane (R3TACD; R = Me, Bn, iPr) and 1,5,9-triisopropyl-1,5,9-triazacyclododecane (iPr3TACDD). While the 3-coordinate complex [(iPr3TACDD)Cu]SbF6 was unreactive with O2, oxygenation of [(R3TACD)Cu(CH3CN)]X (R = Me or Bn; X = ClO4- or SbF6-) at -80 degrees C yielded bis(mu-oxo) species [(R3TACD)2Cu2(mu O)2]X2 as revealed by UV-vis and resonance Raman spectroscopy. Interestingly, unlike the previously reported system supported by 1,4,7-triisopropyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (iPr3TACN), which yielded interconverting mixtures of peroxo and bis(mu-oxo) compounds (Cahoy, J.; Holland, P. L.; Tolman, W. B. Inorg. Chem. 1999, 38, 2161), low-temperature oxygenation of [(iPr3TACD)Cu(CH3CN)]SbF6 in a variety of solvents cleanly yielded a mu-eta 2:eta 2-peroxo product, with no trace of the bis(mu-oxo) isomer. The peroxo complex was characterized by UV-vis and resonance Raman spectroscopy, as well as an X-ray crystal structure (albeit of marginal quality due to disorder problems). Intramolecular attack at the alpha C-H bonds of the substituents was indicated as the primary decomposition pathway of the oxygenated compounds through examination of the decay kinetics and the reaction products, which included bis(mu-hydroxo)- and mu-carbonato-dicopper complexes that were characterized by X-ray diffraction. A rationale for the varying results of the oxygenation reactions was provided by analysis of (a) the X-ray crystal structures and electrochemical behavior of the Cu(I) precursors and (b) the results of theoretical calculations of the complete oxygenated complexes, including all ligand atoms, using combined quantum chemical/molecular mechanics (integrated molecular orbital molecular mechanics, IMOMM) methods. The size of the ligand substituents was shown to be a key factor in controlling the relative stabilities of the peroxo and bis(mu-oxo) forms, and the nature of this influence was shown by both theory and experiment to depend on the ligand macrocycle ring size.  相似文献

To examine the influence of mixed substituents on the structural, electrochemical redox behavior of porphyrins, two new classes of beta-pyrrole mixed substituted free-base tetraphenylporphyrins H2(TPP(Ph)4X4) (X = CH3, H, Br, Cl, CN) and H2(TPP(CH3)4X4) (X = H, Ph, Br, CN) and their metal (M = Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II)) complexes have been synthesized effectively using the modified Suzuki cross-coupling reactions. Optical absorption spectra of these porphyrins showed significant red-shift with the variation of X in H2(TPPR4X4), and they induce a 20-30 nm shift in the B band and a 25-100 nm shift in the longest wavelength band [Q(x)(0,0)] relative to the corresponding H2TPPR4 (R = CH3, Ph) derivatives. Crystal structure of a highly sterically crowded Cu(TPP(Ph)4(CH3)4).2CHCl3 complex shows a combination of ruffling and saddling of the porphyrin core while the Zn(TPP(Ph)4Br4(CH3OH)).CH3OH structure exhibits predominantly saddling of the macrocycle. Further, the six-coordinated Ni(TPP(Ph)4(CN)4(Py)2).2(Py) structure shows nearly planar geometry of the porphyrin ring with the expansion of the core. Electrochemical redox behavior of the MTPPR4X4 compounds exhibit dramatic cathodic shift in first ring oxidation potentials (300-500 mV) while the reduction potentials are marginally cathodic in contrast to their corresponding MTPPX4 (X = Br, CN) derivatives. The redox potentials were analyzed using Hammett plots, and the highest occupied molecular orbital-lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO) gap decreases with an increase in the Hammett parameter of the substituents. Electronic absorption spectral bands of H2TPPR4X4 are unique that their energy lies intermediate to their corresponding data for the H2(TPPX8) (X = CH3, Ph, Br, Cl) derivatives. The dramatic variation in redox potentials and large red-shift in the absorption bands in mixed substituted porphyrins have been explained on the basis of the nonplanarity of the macrocycle and substituent effects.  相似文献

Reductive activation of O(2) by H(2) with rhodium terpyridine complexes in H(2)O and CH(3)CN is described and the mechanism is fully elucidated. The rhodium complex extracts electrons from H(2) and reductively activates O(2) to form a peroxo active intermediate. This intermediate is able to oxidise triphenyl phosphine to triphenyl phosphine oxide. A model system constructed in CH(3)CN provides isolable analogues of catalytic intermediates in H(2)O, allowing a detailed look at each step in the catalytic cycle.  相似文献

This study examines structural features and aspects of reactivity of Gif-type reagents, which depend on O2/Zn to mediate oxidation of hydrocarbons. The reagents investigated derive from the use of iron complexes with the anion of the weak carboxylic acid Me3CCO2H (pivalic acid (PivH)) in pyridine/PivH. In these solutions, the known compound [Fe3O(O2CCMe3)6(py)3] is reduced by Zn to generate yellow-green [FeII(O2CCMe3)2(py)4], which readily reverts to [Fe3O(O2CCMe3)6(py)3], and eventually to [Fe3O(O2CCMe3)6(py)3]+, upon exposure to dioxygen. All three species are equally well suited to mediate Gif-like oxygenation of substrates supported by O2/Zn. [FeIII3O(O2CCMe3)6(L)3]+ (L = H2O, py) is converted by H2O2 to afford the hexairon(III) peroxo compounds [Fe6(O2)(O)2(O2CCMe3)12(L)2] (L = Me3CCO2H, py), which feature a [Fe6(eta 2-mu 4-O2)(mu 3-O)2] core previously documented in the closely related [Fe6(O2)(O)2(O2CPh)12(H2O)2]. A similar peroxo species, [Fe6(O2)(O)2(O2CCMe3)2(O2CCF3)10(H2O)2], is obtained upon replacing all pivalate ligands by trifluoroacetate groups with the exception of those pivalates that bridge between the two [Fe3O(O2CCF3)5(H2O)]2+ units. The structure of the [Fe6(O2)(O)2] core in these peroxo species is found to range from a recliner to a butterfly-type conformation. Reduction of [Fe6(O2)(O)2(O2CCMe3)12(HO2CCMe3)2] with NaBH4 generates [Na2Fe4(O)2(O2CCMe3)10(L)(L')] (L = CH3CN, L' = Me2CO; L = L' = Me3CCO2H), which feature a [Na2Fe4(O)2] core possessing a bent butterfly conformation of the [Fe4(O)2] unit. Oxidation of the same peroxo complex by CeIV or NOBF4 regenerates the oxo-bridged [Fe3O(O2CCMe3)6(solv)3]+ (solv = EtOH, H2O, thf). Employment of the sterically encumbered 2-Me-5-Etpyridine provides the tetrairon compound [Fe4(O)2(O2CCMe3)8(2-Me-5-Etpy)2], which can be readily transformed upon treatment with H2O2 to the asymmetric peroxo complex [Fe6(O2)(O)2(O2CCMe3)12(2-Me-5-Etpy)2]. The peroxo-containing complexes oxidize both cis-stilbene and adamantane in either benzene or py/PivH, but only under forceful conditions and at very low yields. The low reactivity and high selectivity (tert/sec = 8) obtained in the oxidation of adamantane suggests that the present type of peroxo species is not directly involved in catalytic Gif-type oxygenations of adamantane.  相似文献

A full account of a chemical system possessing features that mimic the reactivity aspects of tyrosinase is presented. Using dinucleating ligands with a m-xylyl spacer three new dicopper(I) complexes have been synthesized and their reactivity with dioxygen investigated. The six-membered chelate ring forming ligands provide only two nitrogen coordinations to each copper. The complexes [Cu(I)(2)L(CH(3)CN)(2)]X(2) (X = ClO(4)(-) (1a), SbF(6)(-) (1b)) and [Cu(I)(2)(L-NO(2))(CH(3)CN)(2)][SbF(6)](2) (1c) [L = alpha,alpha'-bis[N-methyl-N-(2-pyridylethyl)amino]-m-xylene; L-NO(2) = para-nitro derivative of L] have been characterized by IR and (1)H NMR spectroscopy. The reaction of O(2) with 1a-c in CH(2)Cl(2) or THF is instantaneous and causes stoichiometric xylyl hydroxylation reactions producing phenol products. Thus 1a produces phenoxo-/hydroxo-bridged product [Cu(II)(2)(L-O)(OH)][ClO(4)](2) (2a). The existence of putative peroxo-dicopper(II) species could not be detected even at -80 degrees C. A trend is observed for the extent of aromatic ring hydroxylation (298 K): CH(3)CN approximately DMF > CH(3)OH > CH(2)Cl(2). Cyclic voltammetric experiment of 1a in DMF reveals an appreciably low redox potential (E(1/2) = -0.26 V vs SCE) for the Cu(II)(2)/Cu(I)(2) redox process. Variable-temperature (25-300 K) magnetic susceptibility measurements establish that the copper(II) centers in 2a and the dihydroxo-bridged complex [Cu(II)(2)L'(OH)(2)][ClO(4)](2) (2b) [formed due to an impurity (L') present during the synthesis of L following Method A; L' = bis[alpha,alpha'-bis(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridylethyl)amino)-m-xylene]methylamine] are antiferromagnetically coupled, with 2a considerably more coupled than 2b. Reaction of 1a with O(2) in CH(2)Cl(2) (298 K) produces an additional unhydroxylated product of composition [Cu(II)(2)L(OH)(OH(2))][ClO(4)](3).2H(2)O.0.5HCl (3a). In agreement with its proposed hydroxo-/aquo-bridged structure, 3a is weakly antiferromagnetically coupled. In CH(3)CN solution, 3a rearranges to generate a doubly hydroxo-bridged species [Cu(II)(2)L(OH)(2)](2+). Using a solution-generated dicopper(I) complex of a closely similar ligand (L' ') providing five-membered chelate ring, the reactivity toward dioxygen was also investigated. It produces only an irreversibly oxidized product of composition Cu(II)(2)L' '(OH)(ClO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(2) (3b) (L' ' = alpha,alpha'-bis[N-methyl-N-(2-pyridylmethyl)amino]-m-xylene). For 3b the copper(II) centers are almost uncoupled.  相似文献

TOF-SIMS is used to investigate the interactions between D2O and hydrophobic molecules, such as CH4, CH3F, CH2F2, CHF3, and CF4, at cryogenic temperatures (15 K). By irradiation with a 1.5-keV He+ beam, the D(+)(D2O)n ions are ejected efficiently from the D2O nanoclusters physisorbed on the CF4 layer due to Coulomb explosion: the ion yields are by about two orders of magnitude higher than those from a thick D2O layer via the kinetic sputtering. The D(+)(D2O)n yields decrease on the CHnF(4-n) layer with increasing the number of the C-H group. This is because the Coulombic fission is quenched due to the delocalization of valence holes through the C-H...H-C and C-H...D2O contacts. A pure D2O film is hardly grown on the CH4 layer as a consequence of intermixing whereas the D2O molecules basically adsorb on the surfaces of fluoromethanes, suggesting the attractive (water-repellent) interactions in the C-H...D2O (C-F...D2O) contacts. The C-H...O bond behaves like a conventional O-H...O hydrogen bond as far as the collision-induced proton transfer reaction is concerned.  相似文献
