The mean-square fluctuations of log-amplitude and phase are studied theoretically for Gaussian beams propagating through a light-focusing glass fibre having a Gaussian covariance of the refractive-index inhomogeneities. The study is based on a method of the Rytov approximation which has been mainly employed for an analysis of the beam fluctuations in an atmosphere. The results show that the mean-square fluctuations increase proportionally to the propagation distance for gz>1,g andz being the focusing coefficient of a fibre and the actual propagation distance, and also increase monotonically as the beam spot size becomes larger. It is also shown that the fluctuations increase significantly in the radial direction of the beam from the centre and that the on-axis fluctuations of log-amplitude and phase depend greatly on the beam spot size.  相似文献

基于Rytov近似和几何光学近似条件下,导出了对数振幅导数方差的解析表达式,证明了该参量主要取决于湍流内尺度、Rytov方差以及Fresnel尺寸大小.在此基础上,给出了光束相位不连续点数密度的修正表达式,分析了相位不连续点数密度随上述湍流参量变化的情况.分析表明在Rytov方差小于1的湍流条件下,不连续点数密度数随Rytov方差的增大而增大,而随湍流内尺度和Fresnel尺寸的增大而减小.  相似文献

Inhomogeneity and anisotropy are intrinsic characteristics of daytime and nighttime turbulence in the atmospheric boundary layer. In the present paper, line-of-sight sound propagation through inhomogeneous, anisotropic turbulence with temperature and velocity fluctuations is considered. Starting from a parabolic equation and using the Markov approximation, formulas are derived for the correlation functions and variances of log-amplitude and phase fluctuations of a spherical sound wave. These statistical moments of a sound field are important for many practical applications in atmospheric acoustics. The derived formulas for the correlation functions and variances generalize those already known in the literature for two limiting cases: (a) homogeneous, isotropic turbulence, and (b) inhomogeneous, anisotropic turbulence with temperature fluctuations only. Furthermore, the formulas differ from those for the case of plane wave propagation. Using the derived formulas and Mann's spectral tensor of velocity fluctuations for shear-driven turbulence, the correlation functions and variances of log-amplitude and phase fluctuations are studied numerically. The results obtained clearly show that turbulence inhomogeneity and anisotropy significantly affect sound propagation in the atmosphere.  相似文献

Tractable analytic expressions are developed for a variety of basic statistical quantities involving a Gaussian-beam wave propagating through a random medium confined to a portion of the propagation path between input and output planes, the limiting case of which defines a thin random phase screen. For a plane wave incident on a phase screen located midway between input and output planes, it is well known that the statistics in the receiver plane are in close agreement with those associated with a plane wave propagating through an extended random medium between input and output planes. For a similar comparison between a phase screen and extended turbulence in the case of a Gaussian-beam wave at the input plane, the present analysis reveals that the phase screen must be positioned between input and output planes differently from the plane-wave case, the position being dependent upon the Fresnel ratio of the Gaussian beam. The analytic results developed in this paper for the thin phase screen model are based on the Kolmogorov power-law spectrum for refractive-index fluctuations and the Rytov approximation. Extension of these results to multiple phase screens is also discussed.  相似文献

根据光波斜程传输理论以及随高度变化的ITU-R湍流大气结构常数模型,将水平传输的修正里托夫方法推广到了斜程传输问题中。导出了高斯波束入射时,在零内尺度湍流谱模型及考虑湍流内尺度效应和外尺度效应条件下,从弱起伏湍流区到强起伏湍流区闪烁指数随斜程里托夫方差变化的计算公式。讨论了不同传播高度、不同湍流内、外尺度对高斯波束斜程传输闪烁指数的影响。最后将有关数值计算结果与实验测量结果进行了比较和验证。  相似文献

根据推广的惠更斯-菲涅尔原理及ITU-R大气结构常数模型(2001年国际电信联盟提出的随高度变化的大气结构常数模型),考虑了大气湍流对激光从发射机到目标和从目标到接收机双程路径的影响,研究了大气湍流中漫射目标的激光波束散射问题,导出了考虑对数振幅起伏和相位占优情况下在斜程大气湍流中传输时激光波束散射场的互相关函数、强度协方差和强度方差的计算公式,并给出了数值计算结果.数值分析了波长、接收机高度和传播距离对强度协方差和归一化强度方差的影响. 关键词: 激光散射 斜程湍流 强度方差 强度协方差  相似文献

The radiation transfer in the medium is characterized by non-conservation of the total radiation energy flux and by the existence of power fluctuations. The statistics of the wave beam power fluctuations have been studied. Information on the power statistical characteristics is applied to close the system of equations for joint moments. For task parameters which are not very strict (an effective radius of the wave beam should be considerably less than the outer scale of the turbulence) a system of independent equations for arbitrary joint moments has been obtained. The equations for the first two lower joint moments of the beam intensity and inverse power have been solved analytically. With the solutions obtained the effective wave beam parameters were calculated, i.e. the beam mean displacement, effective broadening and tremble variance (the beam wandering variance) for the propagation of radiation in the refractive channel of an absorbing turbulent medium. Radically new characteristics of the behaviour of the effective parameters in random absorbing and transparent media have been revealed.  相似文献

Based on the Rytov approximation and the cross-spectral density approximation for the mutual coherence function of the partially coherent field, the propagation properties of the partially coherent beams with optical vortices in turbulent atmosphere are discussed. The average intensity and the mutual coherence function of the partially coherent vortex beams propagation in weak turbulent atmosphere are obtained.It is shown that the vortex structure of the average cross-spectral density of partially coherent beams has the same helicoidally shape as that of the phase of the fully coherent Laguerre-Gauss beams in free space and the relative intensity of the beam is degraded by optical vortex.  相似文献

The average intensity of finite laser beam propagating through turbulent atmosphere is calculated from the extended Huygens Fresnel principle. Formulas are presented for the slant path average intensity from an arbitrarily truncated Gaussian beam. The new expressions are derived from the modified von Karman spectrum for refractive-index fluctuations, quadratic approximation of the structure function,and Gaussian approximation for the product of Gaussian function and Bessel function. It is shown that the form of average intensity is not a Gaussian function but a polynomial of the power of the binomial function, Gaussian function, and the incomplete gamma function. The results also show that the mean irradiance of a finite optical beam propagating in slant path turbulent atmosphere not only depends on the effective beam radius at the transmitting aperture plane, propagation distance, and long-term lateral coherence length of spherical wave, but also on the radius of emit aperture.  相似文献

From the general formula for the temporal frequency log-amplitude fluctuations spectra the asymptotic expressions are found, valid for the geometric and wave approximations. A comparison of the plane and spherical wave formulas with those valid for the beam wave is made in all frequency regions. The difference between the on-axis and off-axis beam spectra is presented. The possibility of estimating from the log-amplitude scintillations the inner and outer scales of turbulence together with the exponent of turbulence spectra in the subrange is briefly discussed.  相似文献

在Rytov近似下,通过引入短期统计平均位错位置的概念,研究了高斯谢尔光束通过近地面弱湍流大气传播时,波前圆形位错形成和位错位置与湍流大气起伏强度和传播距离等参数间的关系.基于湍流大气中平行和交叉双光束的简化近似传输模型,研究了湍流大气中传播高斯谢尔光束波前位错位置与大气湍流强度、传输距离等参数间的相关机制.在远小于光波位相起伏周期的条件下,分别得出了束径不同同轴双光束和交叉双光束传播情况下波前圆位错位置的湍流系综统计平均理论关系.所得结果表明,同轴平行光束干涉和交叉光束干涉所产生的光束波前位错受大气湍流强度、传输距离等参数调制的规律是不同的.  相似文献

The validity of the axisymmetric parabolic-equation (PE) method for line-of-sight sound propagation in a turbulent atmosphere is investigated. The axisymmetric PE method is a finite-difference method for solving a 2D parabolic wave equation, which follows from the 3D wave equation by the assumption of axial symmetry around the vertical axis through the source. It is found that this axisymmetric approximation has a considerable spurious effect on the fluctuations of the sound field. This is concluded from analytical expressions for the log-amplitude and phase variances, derived both for isotropic turbulence and for axisymmetric turbulence. The expressions for axisymmetric turbulence are compared with the results of numerical computations with the PE method.  相似文献

The propagation of electromagnetic waves in nondispersive media having space-time fluctuations of the permittivity is considered. Within the framework of the method of small perturbations the effective permittivity tensor and the spectrum of the scattered field are calculated. It is shown that the presence of time fluctuations affects the energy relationships for the propagating wave.  基于修正Rytov理论,导出了适应于强湍流起伏区的光束漂移方差表达式,分析了湍流外尺度、有效散射区域尺度和光束束腰对光束漂移的影响,并与实验结果进行了比较。结果表明,相对于基于指数模型的光束漂移方差表达式,基于修正Rytov理论给出的表达式的计算结果能更好地与实验结果吻合。当光束束腰大于有效散射区域尺度时,不发生饱和效应,导出的表达式与传统理论给出的表达式一致;当光束束腰小于有效散射区域尺度时,光束漂移的幅度不随Rytov方差的增大而明显变化。  相似文献

Atmospheric turbulence causes strong irradiance fluctuations of propagating optical wave under the severe weather conditions in long-distance free space optical communication. In this paper, the scintillation index for a Gaussian beam wave propagation through non-Kolmogorov turbulent atmosphere is derived in strong fluctuation regime, using non-Kolmogorov spectrum with a generalized power law exponent and the extended Rytov theory with a modified spatial filter function. The analytic expressions are obtained and then used to analyze the effect of power law, refractive-index structure parameter, propagation distance, phase radius of curvature, beam width and wavelength on scintillation index of Gaussian beam under the strong atmospheric turbulence. It shows that, with the increasing of structure parameter or propagation distance, scintillation index increases sharply up to the peak point and then decreases gradually toward unity at rates depending on power law. And there exist optimal value of radius of curvature and beam width for minimizing the value of scintillation index and long wavelength for mitigating the effect of non-Kolmogorov strong turbulence on link performance.  相似文献

Based on the theory of optical wave propagation in the slant path and the ITU-R turbulence structure constant model which is altitude dependent, the modified Rytov method, which is applicable to the optical wave propagation in the horizontal path, is extended to the propagation in the slant path. According to the spectrum model with non-zero inner scale, the scintillation index as a function of the Rytov variance is obtained from weak to strong fluctuation regions with plane wave and sphere wave incidence, respectively. Finally, the scintillation index with different zenith angles is analyzed, and comparison between the results of the modified method and experimental measurements is given and discussed in detail.  相似文献
