The combined effect of rotation and Hall current on the MHD Couette flow have been studied. The heat transfer characteristic have also been discussed on taking the viscous and Joule dissipation into account. The primary and the secondary velocity components increase with increase in Hall parameter but the primary velocity decreases with increase in rotation parameter. It is seen that the rate of heat transfer at the stationary plate is independent of both the Hall parameter and the rotation parameter. The rate of heat transfer at the moving plate increases with increase in Hall parameter, while it decreases with increase in rotation parameter. The values of the critical Eckert number at which the direction of the heat flow changes increases with increase in Hall parameter.  相似文献

Instability of a viscous, incompressible ferrofluid flow in an annular space between two coaxially rotating cylinders in the presence of axial magnetic field has been investigated numerically. The magnetic field perturbations in fluid in the gap between the cylinders have been taken into consideration and these have been observed to stabilize the Couette flow.  相似文献

This paper presents an analytical investigation of steady, fully developed MHD Couette flow of viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid in the presence of radial magnetic field. Exact solutions are derived for the governing energy and momentum equations by taking into account the effects of viscous and Joule dissipations under relevant boundary conditions. The solutions obtained are graphically represented and the effects of various controlling parameters such as Hartmann number and Brinkman number on the temperature profile and consequently the Nusselt numbers are discussed. The significant result from the study is that increase in Hartmann number leads to enhancement on the Nusselt number at outer surface of inner cylinder while the role of Hartmann number is just reverse on Nusselt number at inner surface of outer cylinder. In addition, the Brinkman number has an insignificant effect on the Nusselt numbers when both surfaces are kept at equal temperature.  相似文献

Direct measurements of the bulk flow of a ferrofluid in a uniform rotating magnetic field were obtained using the ultrasonic velocity profile method. The fluid was observed to corotate with the field in a rigid-body-like fashion throughout the bulk of the container, except near the air-fluid interface, where it was observed to counterrotate. The results were found in qualitative agreement with the spin diffusion theory of Zaitsev and Shliomis [J. Appl. Mech. Tech. Phys. 10, 696 (1969)]10.1007/BF00907424.  相似文献

An exact analysis of a generalized MHD Couette flow, on taking into account the Hall current, is presented. Expressions for the axial and transverse components of velocity, the skin friction, are derived. These are shown in graphs. The exact solution to the energy equation, assuming the linear variation of the temperature along the plate, is also derived and this is shown graphically. The eddy current lossesP in a conducting hollow circular cylinder slowly rotating in a homogeneous magnetic field perpendicular to its axis are calculated for an arbitrary lengthl and an arbitrary ratio λ of the inner and outer cylinder radii. The results allow an electrodeless resistivity determination of such samples by torque measurements. A new experiment has been constructed to study the sustainment of a field-reversed configuration (FRC) with a rotating magnetic field (RMF). FRCs were formed with cold, unmagnetized ions and thus without a kinetic ion component that was believed to provide stability to internal tilt modes. No destructive instabilities were observed for the RMF FRC. Only peripheral radial penetration of the RMF was observed. The radially inward flow arising from axial screening currents at the FRC edge reduced convective and conductive losses to the measurement limit of the diagnostics.  相似文献

采用磁流体控制的办法能提高超燃冲压发动机的推进性能。结合了Maxwell方程组和描述流体力学规律的Navier-Stokes方程组,并对这些方程进行了简化,建立了适用于计算磁流体动力学(MHD)超燃冲压发动机磁控进气道流场分布的数值模拟模型。研究了在特定工况下,流场特征、电势、电流以及提取功率等参数的变化。磁流体发生器能够降低管道出口马赫数和流向速度,降低出口处的总焓,但是出口处的温度有所提高。在电极上,电势保持常数,而绝缘壁面的电势较高,电场在电极端点出现周期性的极性。y方向电流在电极板附近很高,而在绝缘板上几乎为零。电流主要从正电极流向负电极,而且沿着x方向略有减小。y方向电流最大值出现在绝缘壁面上,而绝缘板上的z方向值几乎为零。z方向电流最大值出现在管道的边角处,而在绝缘壁面上几乎为零,电流在绝缘壁面的法线分量为零。  相似文献

An analysis of the MHD Couette flow on taking into account the Hall and the ion-slip effects has been carried out for fully developed flow. Exact solutions to the velocity components, magnetic field components, axial and transverse components of the skin-friction, temperature and the rate of heat transfer have been derived. The numerical values of the transverse induced pressure gradient, the skin friction and the rate of heat transfer are entered in tables and the others have been shown on graphs. It has been observed that the flow may become unstable when M is small and ?e (Hall parameter) and ?i (ion-slip parameter) are large or at large value of M.  相似文献

A rotamak is one kind of compact spherically shaped magnetic-confinement device. In a rotamak the plasma current is driven by means of rotating magnetic field (RMF). The driven current can reverse the original equilibrium field and generate a field-reversed-configuration. In a conventional rotamak, a toroidal field (TF) is not necessary for the RMF to drive plasma current, but it was found that the present of an additional TF can influence the RMF current drive. In this paper the effect of TF on the RMF current drive in a rotamak are investigated in some detail. The experimental results show that addition of TF increases the RMF driven current greatly and enhances the RMF penetration dramatically. Without TF, the RMF can only penetrate into plasma in the edge region. When a TF is added, the RMF can reach almost the whole plasma region. This is an optimal strength of toroidal magnetic field for getting maximum plasma current when Bv and radio frequency generator power are fixed. Besides driving current, the RMF generates high harmonic fields in rotamak plasma. The effect of TF on the harmonic field spectra are also reported.[第一段]  相似文献

The flow, heat and mass transfer of water-based nanofluid are examined between two horizontal parallel plates in a rotating system. The effects of Brownian motion, thermophoresis, viscosity and Hall current parameters are considered. The governing partial differential equations are reduced to ordinary differential equations that are then solved numerically using the Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg method. Validation of numerical solution is achieved with an exact solution of primary velocity and found to be in good agreement. Results show that both surfaces experience opposite behavior regarding skin friction, Nusselt and Sherwood numbers in both primary and secondary flows. These physical quantities depend upon dimensionless parameters and numbers.  相似文献

The eddy-current loss is calculated for nonferromagnetic disks in a rotating magnetic field. The power loss is found as a function of the magnetic field intensity, the field rotation velocity, and the disk dimensions. Following the techniques used by Letelier and Stachel some new physically relevant stationary solutions of string cosmology with magnetic field are presented. In these solutions, the flow vector of matter has non-zero rotation and the cosmological constant is taken to be non-zero.
