For the first time to the authors' knowledge, an integrated optical distributed Bragg reflector laser with a fixed photorefractive grating in LiNbO(3) is demonstrated. Sample preparation, grating fabrication, and laser characteristics are reported. The device is pumped by a fiber pigtailed laser diode (lambda(p) approximately 1480 nm) through the Bragg grating in a double-pass configuration, yielding an emission in the backward direction at lambda=1531.7nm . The laser threshold is 40 mW; as much as 5 mW of output power has been obtained at 110 mW of launched pump power in cw operation.  相似文献

An actively mode-locked fiber ring laser based on cross-gain modulation (XGM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is demonstrated to operate stably with a simple configuration. By forward injecting an easily-generated external pulse train, the mode-locked fiber laser can generate an optical-pulse sequence with pulsewidth about 6 ps and average output power about 7.9 mW. The output pulses show an ultra-low RMS jitter about 70.7 fs measured by a RF spectrum analyzer. The use of the proposed forward-injection configuration can realize the repetition-rate tunability from 1 to 15 GHz for the generated optical-pulse sequences. By employing a wavelength-tunable optical band-pass filter in the laser cavity, the operation wavelength of the designed SOA-based actively mode-locked fiber laser can be tuned continuously in a wide span between 1528 and 1565 nm. The parameters of external-injection optical pulses are studied experimentally to optimize the mode-locked fiber laser.  相似文献

Two compact fiber lasers based on the gain medium of Nd-doped phosphate glass multicore fiber (MCF), of length no more than 10 cm, have been demonstrated experimentally for the first time. A stable phase-locked laser beam at 1055 nm emitted from a three-core fiber that is 8.5 cm in length has been achieved, with a maximum output power of 20 mW. A compact Erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) operating in L-band region is demonstrated using a fabricated Erbium-doped Zirconia fiber (EDZF) for the first time. The fiber is fabricated by combining Zr and Al to achieve the maximum Erbium ion concentration of 4320 wt ppm. By using a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) in a ring configuration, the laser operates at 1579.6 nm with a slope efficiency of 13.6% and the threshold pump power of 25.1 mW. The lasing wavelength is obtained at Bragg wavelength with an output power of 13 dBm and a 3 dB spectral width of 0.02 nm using a piece of 2 m long EDZF in conjunction with 120 mW of 1480 nm pump power.  相似文献

高重复频率掺Er光纤飞秒激光器在光学频率梳、超高速光学采样等领域具有很重要的作用. 本文采用非线性偏振旋转锁模机理, 在掺Er光纤飞秒激光器中实现了重复频率为303 MHz的锁模脉冲输出. 通过优化腔内色散, 激光器腔内色散在零色散附近偏负值, 锁模后工作在展宽脉冲锁模状态. 在817 mW抽运功率下, 激光器在连续光状态下可以输出125 mW的平均功率, 在锁模状态下可以输出69 mW的平均功率, 脉冲宽度为90 fs. 当抽运功率处于700-817 mW时, 激光器可以实现自启动锁模. 激光器重复频率在5 h内的漂移量为30 Hz.  相似文献

We report on a wide-band and stable mode-locked all-polarization-maintaining fiber iaser configuration using a noniinear optical loop mirror.The central wavelength of the laser is 1080.14 nm and the 3dB bandwidth is 20.29 nm.The repetition rate of the pulse is 3.28 MHz and the pulse width is 848 ps.By tuning the pump power,which is centered at 980 nm,from 300 mW to 380 mW,we obtain a linearly changed output power from 6mW to 7.12 mW.The all-polarization-maintaining fiber configuration is fundamental to the stability of the output power.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate a multiwavelength Brillouin-erbium fiber laser in two configurations; uni-directional and bi-directional propagation of Brillouin pump and Brillouin Stokes signals through an Erbium-doped fiber gain. The influence of these configurations on the performance of the output parameters in terms of lasing threshold, output channel generation and tuning range of the generated output channels are investigated. We discovered that there is a trade-off between these two fiber laser configurations. The uni-directional amplifier configuration provides greater tuning range of 46.8 nm against 23 nm at maximum Brillouin pump power of 2 mW and 1480-nm pump power of 130 mW. On the other hand, the bi-directional amplifier configuration provides 13 output channels against 6 output channels obtained from the uni-directional amplifier configuration at the same pumping powers. Nevertheless, the bi-directional amplifier configuration requires much lower pump power to initiate lasing.  相似文献

We present the design of highly stable, passively mode-locked fiber lasers which are based on a simple configuration and require a low pump power for the generation of optical pulses with subpicosecond pulsewidth. Our designed fiber laser uses a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror to realize the self-starting, passive mode locking at a low pump power of 29 mW, with which a stable optical pulse train is obtained at the fundamental repetition rate of 52.5 MHz and the central wavelength of 1557 nm. The output mode-locked optical pulses have a pulsewidth of 881 fs and an average output power of 1.78 mW, respectively.  相似文献

We have demonstrated a Q-switched fiber laser based on a mechanical all-fiber Q-switching module and pulsed-pump configuration. A piezoelectric actuator was utilized in the module to change the round-trip loss of the fiber laser cavity, and exploited the pulsed pump to prevent the multiple pulsing phenomena. Q-switching pulses were successfully achieved at the repetition rates from 1 Hz to 2 kHz, and the average output power was 11 mW. The peak power in excess of 114 W with associated pulse width of 193 ns was obtained at the repetition rate of 500 Hz. Besides preventing multiple pulsing phenomena, pulsed-pump configuration can also suppress amplified spontaneous emission and increase pulse stability and peak power simultaneously.  相似文献

单模光纤激光器在光通讯和光传感中具有广阔的应用前景。分析了复合腔光纤激光器的构成及单模的实现特点,提出了一种新颖的光纤复合环形腔激光器结构,并对其进行了实验研究。该激光器使用了波长为980nm的半导体激光器作为泵浦源。三个腔长均为2m,彼此之间的腔长差为1~2mm的光纤环形滤波器与主谐振腔构成复合腔。此激光器在波长为1562nm处得到了线宽小于0.1nm的单模激光输出,输出的光功率可达到1mW。该激光器的阈值为5mW,斜率效率为4%。  相似文献

Abstract

An efficient multi-wavelength Brillouin erbium fiber laser is demonstrated using an improved configuration with a broadband fiber Bragg grating and a piece of photonic crystal fiber. The laser generates more than 55 lines of optical comb with a line spacing of approximately 0.09 nm in a 1,565-5 nm region using pump powers of 3 dBm and 150 mW for the Brillouin and 980-nm pumps, respectively. The Brillouin erbium fiber laser with a fiber Bragg grating's reflectivity of 50% obtained a higher number of comb lines compared to that of 99% reflectivity.  相似文献

A multiwavelength laser comb using a bismuth-based erbium-doped fiber and 50 m photonic crystal fiber is demonstrated in a ring cavity configuration. The fiber laser is solely pumped by a single 1455 nm Raman pump laser to exploit its higher power delivery compared to that of a single-mode laser diode pump. At 264 mW Raman pump power and 1 mW Brillouin pump power, 38 output channels in the L-band have been realized with an optical signal-to-noise ratio above 15 dB and a Stokes line spacing of 0.08 nm. The laser exhibits a tuning range of 12 nm and produces stable Stokes lines across the tuning range between Brillouin pump wavelengths of 1603 nm and 1615 nm.  相似文献

Modulational instability (MI) is employed in a self-induced ring cavity configuration based on highly nonlinear dispersion-shifted fiber (HNL DSF) and an erbium-doped fiber amplifier to generate a continuous-wave 262-GHz train of 365-fs optical solitons. The laser operates around 1540 nm, with an average output power of 15 mW. MI is achieved at a low threshold as a result of low average cavity dispersion and high fiber nonlinearity. It is shown that, because of the normal dispersion of the HNL DSF, the solitons exist in the average soliton regime.  相似文献

We report a 100 nm widely tunable double-clad Ytterbium doped fiber laser. The fiber laser has a linear cavity configuration, where the feedback is provided by a Sagnac fiber mirror on one side, and an external bulk grating on the other side. On the bulk grating side, the fiber has a balled curved-core-termination that suppress backreflection by roughly 50 dB, and does not affect the pump coupling efficiency. The tuning range goes from 1055 nm through 1155 nm, with a maximum output power of 360 mW at 1080 nm, and 0.3 nm linewidth.  相似文献

We have successfully demonstrated a single-frequency distributed-feedback (DFB) thulium-doped silica fiber laser emitting at a wavelength of 1735 nm. The laser cavity is less than 5 cm long and is formed by intracore UV-written Bragg gratings with a phase shift. The laser is pumped at 790 nm from a Ti:sapphire laser and has a threshold pump power of 59 mW. The laser has a maximum output power of 1 mW in a single-frequency, single-polarization radiation mode and is tunable over a few nanometers. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first report of a single-frequency DFB fiber laser that uses thulium as the amplifying medium. The lasing wavelength is the longest demonstrated with DFB fiber lasers and yet is among the shortest obtained for thulium-doped silica fiber lasers.  相似文献

在基于掺铒光纤-拉曼混合放大的可调光纤环形激光器的光纤布拉格光栅(FBG)传感系统结构基础上,提出了延长传感距离的新方法。该方法以环形掺铒光纤激光器作为光源,采用双波长拉曼放大的方法对信号进行低噪声的双向放大,系统中间的两段掺铒光纤再利用剩余的抽运功率产生自发辐射光和放大传感信号,使得整个系统能够在超长的传感距离上获得很高的信噪比。实验表明使用一只40 mW的掺铒光纤放大(EDFA)抽运源、一只170 mW的拉曼抽运源和一只2 W的拉曼抽运源,可以使整个系统的传感距离达到100km,并且传感系统的光纤布拉格光栅反射信号均能获得超过57 dB的优良信噪比,从而实现在超长距离上的光纤布拉格光栅传感。  相似文献

提出了一种结构新颖的L波段环形腔掺铒光纤激光器。用掺铒光纤作为增益介,采用980nm激光器作为前向抽运源,利用起偏器和偏振控制器获得L波段激光,利用光环形器将后向的放大自发辐射再引入铒光纤的前端,重复利用。当抽运功率为103mW时得到了阈值功率约为23.87mW,输出功率达6.34mW的激光输出,斜率效率约为8.05%,与没有重复利用后向放大自发辐射谱的掺铒光纤激光器做比较,该结构对L波段掺铒光纤激光器的性能有明显的提升作用。对于长度不合适的铒纤,在没有重复利用后向放大自发辐射谱时没有获得激光输出;而在利用后向放大自发辐射后,在阈值功率约为88mW时得到了激光输出,从而很好地证明了上述结论。  相似文献

We have demonstrated a continuous-wave (CW) all fiber laser operation at 1558.4 nm of a diode-pumped erbium-doped PCF laser based on 9.6 m erbium-doped PCF. The maximum output power and the threshold of the fiber laser are 49.4 mW and 6.67 mW, respectively. We show that it is possible to achieve a high stability and beam quality laser, which has a great application potential in optical communication field in future.  相似文献

We propose a design of an all-fiber laser system that combines the most advanced Er:fiber laser in the telecommunication range and an efficient Yb-doped amplifier for generation of high-power ultrashort pulses. The system is based on nonlinear wavelength conversion of 1.56 μm ultrashort Er:fiber laser pulses to the 1 μm range in a short pigtail of dispersion-shifted silica fiber with subsequent amplification in the Yb-doped fiber amplifier. Pulses with a duration as short as 85 fs and averaged power of 200 mW are demonstrated.  相似文献

A stable Q-switched erbium doped fiber laser emitting at 1558 nm is demonstrated using a cadmium selenide(CdSe) material coated onto a side-polished D-shape fiber as the saturable absorber(SA). By elevating the input pump power from the threshold of 91 mW to the maximum available power of 136 mW, a pulse train with a maximum repetition rate of 57.44 kHz, minimum pulse width of 3.76 us, maximum average output power of7.99 mW, maximum pulse energy of 0.1391 uJ, and maximum peak power of 36.99 mW are obtained. The signalto-noise ratio of the spectrum is measured to be around 75 dB. This CdSe based SA is simple, robust, and reliable,and thus suitable for making a portable pulse laser source.  相似文献
