We prove short-time well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for incompressible strongly elliptic hyperelastic materials. Our method consists in:
  1. Reformulating the classical equations in order to solve for the pressure gradient (The pressure is the Lagrange multiplier corresponding to the constraint of incompressibility.) This formulation uses both spatial and material variables.
  2. Solving the reformulated equations by using techniques which are common for symmetric hyperbolic systems. These are:
  1. Using energy estimates to bound the growth of various Sobolev norms of solutions.
  2. Finding the solution as the limit of a sequence of solutions of linearized problems.
Our equations differ from hyperbolic systems, however, in that the pressure gradient is a spatially non-local function of the position and velocity variables.  相似文献

An analytical model to estimate longitudinal traction of a tire in snow was developed and verified to have good predictability in comparison with measurements. Snow traction of a tire is composed of four kinds of forces in this model: braking force attributable to snow compression, shear force of snow in void (space between tread blocks), frictional force, and digging force (edge effect generated by sipes and blocks). The mechanical characteristics of snow were considered in the prediction of braking force and shear force, but were not considered in the prediction of other forces. The contribution of shear force of snow in void and the frictional force was large in static traction (traction just before a tire slips). On the other hand, the contributions of digging force and frictional force were large in situations involving high slip ratios.  相似文献

The traction characteristics of the grouser, cutting the simulative soil of deep-sea sediment, with different tooth widths, tooth heights, and ground pressures are studied with traction characteristic test apparatus. A traction-displacement model is obtained by combining the analysis of the cutting mechanism. The results show that the traction-displacement curves of grousers with different tooth widths, tooth heights, and ground pressures have the same changing trend, which matches the Wong traction model. Their sensitivity coefficient and shear modulus are slightly fluctuated. Therefore, the average values can be used as the traction model parameters. The maximum traction of the grouser with a two-side edge and a 10mm tooth width increment changing with the tooth height and ground pressure can be determined according to the grousers with different tooth widths. By combining the traction model parameters, the traction-displacement curve of the grouser with a certain group values of tooth width, tooth height, and ground pressure can be predicted. Therefore, the slip of the mining machine can be prevented to improve the mining efficiency.  相似文献

In recent separate investigations, Kirchhoff's classical uniqueness theorem of elastodynamics has been extended in two ways. Gurtin and Toupin generalized the theorem to encompass bodies possessing an elasticity tensor that obeys the semi-strong ellipticity condition, whereas the author has extended the theorem to unbounded regions. These two results are brought together in the present paper.

Gurtin et Toupin l'ont généralisé pour inclure les corps possédant un tenseur d'élasticité obéissant à la condition d'ellipticité demi-forte, alors que le présent auteur l'a étendu aux régions non finies. Tractive performance, as well as soil stresses under a vehicle equipped with two types of tyres, was investigated in this study. All-season and snow tyres were installed in a 14 T 6 × 6 military truck and the vehicle was driven over sandy and loess soil for drawbar pull tests. Simultaneously, the stress state was determined in the ground surface under the driving wheels. Effects of tread pattern on both traction curves and soil stress were analyzed for three different levels of vehicle loading. All-season tyres provide slightly better traction for both terrain surfaces, at all three loading levels, or the differences between traction measures are not significant. Soil stress analysis showed that the difference between the two tread patterns is not significant. Generally, on soft surfaces all-season tyres performed no worse than snow tyres, while they are pronouncedly better for highway use.  相似文献

In many problems of interest the (Cauchy) surface traction is given as a function of position on the deformed surface. A class of loadings sufficiently general to include these problems is considered, and within the context of the fraction problem in finite elasticity, a number of uniqueness results are established. This work extends results obtained for the mixed problem by Gurtin and Spector.

The non-zero traction condition is introduced in piezoelectric crack problems with the unknown Coulombic traction acting on the crack surfaces. An analytical solution under this condition is obtained by means of the generalized Stroh formalism and by accounting for the permittivity of medium inside the crack gap. As the crack in such materials can be thought of as a low-capacitance medium carrying a potential drop, the Coulombic traction always pulls the two opposite surfaces of the crack together. It is proved that under relatively larger mechanical loading and relatively smaller electrical field, the Coulombic traction may be negligible and the previous investigations under the traction-free crack condition may be accepted in a tolerant way, otherwise the Coulombic traction may lead to some erroneous results with over 10% relative errors. It is also shown that, unlike the traction-free crack condition, the applied electric field does change the Mode I stress intensity factor (SIF) for a central crack in an infinite plane piezoelectric material, and in this way may significantly influence piezoelectric fracture. It is also concluded that the variable tendencies of the normalized SIF and the ERR against the applied electric field depend on the mechanical loading levels. This load-dependence feature may lead to a transformation of the normalized SIF and the ERR from an even functional dependence to an odd functional dependence on the applied electric field.  相似文献

We show that finite amplitude shearing motions superimposed on an unsteady simple extension are admissible in any incompressible isotropic elastic material. We show that the determining equations for these shearing motions admit a general reduction to a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) in the remarkable case of generalized circularly polarized transverse waves. When these waves are standing and the underlying unsteady simple extension is composed of a harmonic perturbation of a static stretch it is possible to reduce the determining ODEs to linear or non-linear Mathieu equations. We use this property for a detailed study of the phenomenon of parametric resonance in non-linear elastodynamics.  相似文献

We investigate the spatial behaviour of the steady state and transient elastic processes in an anisotropic elastic body subject to nonzero boundary conditions only on a plane end. For the transient elastic processes, it is shown that at distance x 3 >ct from the loaded end, (c is a positive computable constant and t is the time), all the activity in the body vanishes. Field experiments on off-road vehicle traction and wheel–soil interactions were carried out on sandy and loess soil surfaces. A 14 T, 6 × 6 military truck was used as a test vehicle, equipped with 14.00-20 10 PR tyres, nominally inflated to 390 kPa. Tests were performed at nominal and reduced (down to 200 kPa) inflation pressures and at three vehicle loading levels: empty weight, loaded with 3.6 and 6.0 T mass (8000, 11,600 and 14,000 kg, respectively). Traction was measured with a load cell, attached to the rear of the test vehicle as well as to another, braking vehicle. Soil stress state was determined with the use of an SST (stress state transducer), which consists of six pressure sensors. Soil surface deformation was measured in vertical and horizontal directions, with a videogrammetric system. Effects of reduced inflation pressure as well as wheel loading on traction and wheel–soil interactions were analyzed. It was noticed that reduced inflation pressure had positive effects on traction and increased stress under wheels. Increasing wheel load resulted in increasing drawbar pull. These effects and trends are different for the two soil surfaces investigated. The soil surface deformed in two directions: vertical and longitudinal. Vertical deformations were affected by loading, while longitudinal were affected by inflation pressure.  相似文献

A new approach is proposed for the systematic derivation of varïous variational principles in linear elastodynamics. Based on an important integral relation in terms of convolutions given by the authors, the new approach can be used to derive the complementary functionals for the five-field, four-field, three-field, two-field and one-field variational principles more simply and directly. Furthermore, with this approach, it is possible not only to derive the variational principles given by Herrera and Bielak, Oden and Reddy, but also to develop new more general variational principles. And the intrinsic relationship among various principles can be explained clearly.  相似文献

For the traction boundary value problem in finite elasticity, a bound is obtained for the total strain energy in terms of the L2 integral norms of the surface tractions and body forces, under the assumptions that the unstressed body occupies a convex domain and the displacement gradients are sufficiently small.This is an extension of known results in linear (infinitesimal) elasticity into finite elasticity.  相似文献
