Understanding mechanisms capable of altering the vacuum energy is currently of interest in field theories and cosmology. We consider an interacting scalar field and show that the vacuum energy naturally takes any value between its maximum and zero because interaction affects the number of operating field modes, the assertion that involves no assumptions or postulates. The mechanism is similar to the recently discussed temperature evolution of collective modes in liquids. The cosmological implication concerns the evolution of scalar field ?? during the inflation of the Universe. ?? starts with all field modes operating and maximal vacuum energy in the early inflation-dominated epoch. As a result of inflation, ?? undergoes a dynamical crossover and arrives in the state with one long-wavelength longitudinal mode and small positive vacuum energy predicted to be asymptotically decreasing to zero in the late epoch. Accordingly, we predict that the currently observed cosmological constant will decrease in the future, and comment on the possibility of a cyclic Universe.  相似文献

For a quantum field theory with interacting scalar fields treated in light-cone quantisation (LCQ) it is shown that the vacuum of the theory is always the perturbative vacuum. The fields can be split up into classical constant fields, determined by minima of the effective action, and quantum fields. The former ones replace the nontrivial vacuum expectation values of the conventionally quantised theory. When spontaneous symmetry breaking occurs, the classical fields are only determined up to symmetry transformations. This degeneracy corresponds to the degeneracy of the vacuum in the conventional approach. The effective actions of the conventional theory and LCQ are identical. Lightcone charges obey the canonical commutation relations with the fields and the canonical charge algebra relations. Ward identities and the appearance of Goldstone Bosons accompanying spontaneous symmetry breaking can be derived in analogy to the conventional case.  相似文献

A conformai technique is given for the generation of exact solutions for the spherically symmetric vacuum field in the general Bergmann-Wagoner-Nordtvedt scalar-tensory theory with vanishing cosmological constant. We discuss in particular the solution for Schwinger's theory and for models with n coupling or with curvature coupling. It appears that all theories with vanishing cosmological term lead to the presence of naked singularities.  相似文献

基于磁场闪络抑制原理,研究回路电流产生的自磁场效应对固体材料绝缘性能的影响。通过计算电场强度与磁感应强度的临界比值,设计了同轴电极结构,确定了满足闪络抑制判据的电极尺寸,开展自磁场闪络抑制实验、自磁场闪络促进实验以及无磁场绝缘闪络实验,对比三种条件下绝缘材料的沿面闪络规律,分析磁场位形对材料绝缘特性的影响情况。实验结果表明:绝缘样品在自磁场闪络抑制效应影响下闪络电压提高了约15%,在自磁场促进闪络效应下闪络电压降低了约18%。  相似文献
