This paper is concerned with the diffraction problem in a transversely isotropic piezoelectric medium by a half-plane. The half-plane obstacle considered here is a semi-infinite slit, or a crack; both its surfaces are traction free and electric absorbent screens. In a generalized sense, we are dealing with the Sommerfeld problem in a piezoelectric medium.¶The coupled diffraction fields between acoustic wave and electric wave are excited by both incident acoustic wave as well as incident electric wave; and the sound soft and electric "blackness" conditions on the screens are characterized by a system of simultaneous Wiener-Hopf equations. Closed form solutions are sought by employing special techniques. Some interesting results have been obtained, such as mode conversions between acoustic wave and electric wave, novel diffraction patterns in the scattering fields, and the effect of electroacoustic head wave, as well as of surface wave-Bleustein-Gulyaev wave.¶Unlike the classical Sommerfeld problem, in which the only concern is the scattering field of electric wave, the strength of material, e.g. material toughness, is another concern here. From this perspective, relevant dynamic field intensity factors at the crack tip are derived explicitly.  相似文献

We develop a generalized conditional symmetry approach for the functional separation of variables in a nonlinear wave equation with a nonlinear wave speed. We use it to obtain a number of new (1+1)-dimensional nonlinear wave equations with variable wave speeds admitting a functionally separable solution. As a consequence, we obtain exact solutions of the resulting equations.  相似文献

We use the dressing method to find exact solutions of the Landau-Lifshitz equation for a ferromagnet with light-axis anisotropy. These solutions describe the interaction of a nonlinear precession wave of arbitrary amplitude with solitons. We analyze the change of the internal structure and the physical parameters of the solitons as a result of their interaction with the magnetization wave. We find an infinite series of integrals of motion that stabilize the soliton on the background of the pumping wave.  相似文献

Conversion of a slow wave propagating in a fluid layer inside an elastic medium into a tube wave propagating in a borehole that intersects this layer is considered. In this paper we solve the problem of diffraction of a normally incident plane wave by a circular disk. We treat both the hard and soft disk. In each case we obtain the solution as a series which converges when the product of the wave number and the radius of the disk is large. In this paper the diffraction of a plane first order solitary wave by a vertical permeable elliptical cylinder is investigated and the corresponding wave loading is computed. The analytical model presented here is employs Boussinesq equations to describe the diffraction. The solution procedure is based on the perturbation theory, where a perturbation parameter defined in terms of the surface geometry of the cylinder is used. The flow through the porous cylinder is assumed to obey Darcy's law. The effects of porosity, relative wave length and the incident wave angle are discussed. (© 2006 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. An elastic plate is located on the surface of a liquid, in continuous contact with it and rigidly clamped in a support along a certain straight line. The orthogonal incidence of a small amplitude flexural-gravitational wave on the support is considered. Exact expressions are obtained for the wave field in the fluid and the flexural field in the plate. The transmission coefficient of the incident flexural-gravitational wave through the support and its reflection coefficient from it are determined. The forces which arise in the support are found. The investigation is carried out for liquids of finite and infinite depth. The effect of the depth of the liquid on the wave processes is indicated. The liquid is assumed to be inviscid and its friction on the bottom and the lower surface of the plate in the neighbourhood of the support is therefore ignored.  相似文献

We consider nonlinear finite-amplitude progressive shear-flow waves on a basic velocity profile consisting of two coflowing layers of inviscid equal-density fluid, each of uniform but different vorticity. The problem is formulated as a nonlinear integral equation describing the shape of the vorticity discontinuity in a frame of reference in which the flow is steady. Numerical solutions to this equation are presented for a range of values of the vorticity ratio Ω. For 1 > © ≥ ? 1 the theoretical maximum wave amplitude occurs when the wave crest forms a 90° corner which just touches the appropriate critical-layer stagnation point. The linearized stability of the progressive wave states to arbitrary subharmonic isovortical disturbances is studied numerically. This paper is concerned with the stability of traveling wave fronts for a coupled system of non-local delayed lattice differential equations with a quiescent stage. It shows that under certain conditions all non-critical traveling wave fronts are globally exponentially stable, and critical ftraveling wave fronts are globally algebraically stable by applying the weighted energy method and the semi-discrete Fourier transform.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the minimal wave speed of a competitive system. By constructing upper and lower solutions, we confirm the existence of travelling wave solution at the critical wave speed. This completes earlier results found in the literature. Our conclusion implies that the asymptotic decay behaviour of solutions at the critical wave speed is different from that of solutions at larger wave speeds.  相似文献

Scattering of Plane Elastic Waves on a Small Obstacle Inside a Layer   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The problem on the diffraction of a plane elastic wave with horizontal polarization (SH wave) on a small obstacle placed in a layer is investigated. The layer is situated on a half-space with stress-free boundary. The obstacle is assumed to be a circular cylinder with radius small in comparison with the length of the incident wave. The polarization of the incident wave is parallel to the axis of the cylinder. It is proved that the small inhomogeneity radiates as a linear source such that the intensity of the radiation is proportional to the area of the cross-section of the obstacle and the jump of the squared transverse velocities in the layer and in the obstacle. We study a finite difference scheme for a combustion model problem. A projection scheme near the combustion wave, and the standard upwind finite difference scheme away from the combustion wave are applied. Convergence to weak solutions with a combustion wave is proved under the normal Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy condition. Some conditions on the ignition temperature are given to guarantee the solution containing a strong detonation wave or a weak detonation wave. Convergence to strong detonation wave solutions for the random projection method is also proved.  相似文献

In this paper, by means of the Jacobi elliptic function method, exact double periodic wave solutions and solitary wave solutions of a nonlinear evolution equation are presented. It can be shown that not only the obtained solitary wave solutions have the property of loop-shaped, cusp-shaped and hump-shaped for different values of parameters, but also different types of double periodic wave solutions are possible, namely periodic loop-shaped wave solutions, periodic hump-shaped wave solutions or periodic cusp-shaped wave solutions. Furthermore, periodic loop-shaped wave solutions will be degenerated to loop-shaped solitary wave solutions for the same values of parameters. So do cusp-shaped solutions and hump-shaped solutions. In this article, we consider the global existence and decay rates of solutions for the transmission problem of Kirchhoff type wave equations consisting of two physically different types of materials, one component being a Kirchhoff type wave equation with time dependent localized dissipation which is effective only on a neighborhood of certain part of boundary, while the other being a Kirchhoff type viscoelastic wave equation with nonlinear memory.  相似文献
