Two new reduced Schiff base ligands, [HL1 = 4-{2-[(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-amino]-ethylimino}-pentan-2-one and HL2 = 4-[2-(1-pyridin-2-yl-ethylamino)-ethylimino]-pentan-2-one] have been prepared by reduction of the corresponding tetradentate unsymmetrical Schiff bases derived from 1:1: 1 condensation of 1,2-ethanediamine, acetylacetone and pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde/2-acetyl pyridine. Four complexes, [Ni(L1)]ClO4 (1), [Cu(L1)]ClO4 (2), [Ni(L2)]ClO4 (3), and [Cu(L2)]ClO4 (4) with these two reduced Schiff base ligands have been synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. The mono-negative ligands L1 and L2 are chelated in all four complexes through the four donor atoms to form square planar nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes. Structures of 3 and 4 reveal that enantiomeric pairs are crystallized together with opposite chirality in the nitrogen and carbon atoms. The two CuII complexes (2 and 4) exhibit both irreversible reductive (CuII/CuI; Epc, −1.00 and −1.04 V) and oxidative (CuII/CuIII; Epa, +1.22 and +1.17 V, respectively) responses in cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemically generated CuI species for both the complexes are unstable and undergo disproportionation.  相似文献

Two new, Schiff base ligands containing cyclobutane and thiazole rings, 4-(1-methyl-1-mesitylcyclobutane-3-yl)-2-(2,4-dihydroxybenzylidenehydrazino)thiazole (L1H) and 4-(1-methyl-1-mesitycyclobutane-3-yl)-2-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidenehydrazino)thiazole (L2H) and their mononuclear complexes with a 1:2 metal-ligand ratio have been prepared with acetate salts of CoII, CuII, NiII and ZnII in EtOH. The structures of the ligands and their complexes have been established by microanalyses, i.r., u.v.–vis., 13C- and 1H-n.m.r. spectra, and by magnetic susceptibility measurements. The complexes are mononuclear. Thermal properties of the ligands and complexes have been studied by t.g.a. and d.s.c. techniques. Antimicrobial activities of the ligands and their complexes have been tested against eight different microorganisms. Some of the complexes and L1H were found to be active against some of the microorganisms studied.  相似文献

A series of copper(II) complexes, CuL·imidazole, where L2? are tridentate Schiff base ligands formed by condensation of salicylaldehyde with a series of amino acids, have been synthesized. Visible spectral data indicate that copper(II) in these complexes are five coordinate in the solid state and in solution. Electrospray mass spectrometry has been used to show how these complexes react in alcohol/NaOH solutions with and without the presence of d-galactose. In the absence of d-galactose where the amino acid in the ligand is serine, the alcohol group on the ligand is converted to its alkyl ether after sonication of the solution for up to 4?h. In the presence of d-galactose, an alkoxy group is added to the ligands except for the ligand containing serine after sonication of the solutions for up to 4?h. At the same time, d-galactose is oxidized to its aldehyde. Where the ligand contains methionine, oxygen is also added to the ligand, most likely to the thioether sulfur.  相似文献

Four new copper(II) complexes of the composition [Cu(H2L)(H2O)] have been synthesized by template method from reaction of copper(II) acetate, succinoyldihydrazine and some o-hydroxy aromatic aldehydes and ketones in aqueous methanol media. The composition of the complexes has been established on the basis of data obtained from analytical and mass spectral studies. The structure of the complexes has been discussed in the light of molar conductance, magnetic moment, Uv-vis, EPR and IR spectral studies. All of the complexes are non-electrolyte in DMSO. The μeff values for the complexes fall in the region 1.76–1.85 BM which rules out the possibility of any M–M interaction in the structural unit of the complexes. The ligands coordinate to the metal centre in enol form through phenolate/naphtholate oxygen atoms and azomethine nitrogen atoms. The NMR spectra show that ligands are present in anti-cis configuration in uncoordinated state. In all of the complexes the copper centre adopts square pyramidal stereochemistry. The unpaired electron is present in dx2-y2 orbital in the ground state for copper centre in the complexes. The electron transfer reactions for the complexes have been studied by cyclic voltammetry.  相似文献

Three new Pd(II) complexes of Schiff base ligands, namely, [Pd4(L1)4] (1), [Pd2(L2)2Cl2] (2) and [Pd(L3)2Cl2] (3) [HL 1 ?=?N-(benzylidene)-2-aminophenol; L 2 ?=?N-(2,4-dichlorobenzylidene)-2,6-diethylbenzenamine, L 3 ?=?4-(2,4-dichlorobenzylide-neamino)phenol] have been synthesized using solvothermal methods and characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structures of the free ligands were also determined. The ??-oxygen-bridged tetranuclear cyclometallated Pd(II) complex (1) contains four nearly planar units, in which PdII is four-coordinate. Complex 2 is a ??-chloro-bridged dinuclear cyclometallated Pd(II) complex, whereas complex 3 is mononuclear. The Heck reactions of bromobenzene with acrylic acid catalyzed by complexes 1?C3 have also been studied.  相似文献

Summary New neutral platinum complexes of Schiff bases or their hydrated derivatives were prepared and a new path to mixed ligand platinum(II) complexes is proposed. Reactions of [PtCl4]2– with multidentate Schiff bases give chelates which react further, resulting in cis-coordinated mixed N-donor ligand complexes. Structures are proposed on the basis of chemical analyses, electrical conductivities and i.r. studies.  相似文献

The ligands, 1-acetylferrocenehydrazinecarboxamide (HL1) and 1-acetylferrocenehydrazinecarbothioamide (HL2), and their Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes were synthesized. The properties of the synthesized compounds were determined by the elemental and spectroscopic analyses. Ni(II) and Co(II) acetates interact with the ligands at the molar ratios 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 to give coloured products. The complexes have octahedral geometry. The ligands are coordinated to Co(II) and Ni(II) centers via the azomethine nitrogen and thiolic sulfur /enolic oxygen atom. The ligands and their Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activities. The Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes show enhanced inhibitory activity as compared to their parent ligands. The DNA cleavage activity of the Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes was determined by gel electrophoresis. It was shown that the complexes have better cleavage activity than the ligands. The antioxidant activity of the complexes was also evaluated and used to examine their scavenging ability on hydrogen peroxide.  相似文献

The synthesis and solid-state structure of mononuclear copper(II) complexes [Cu(SAIB)(H(2)O)(2)] (1), [Cu(SBAIB)(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O (2) and [Cu(SGABA)(H(2)O)(2)] (3) are described. Schiff base ligands H(2)SAIB, H(2)SBAIB and H(2)SGABA chelate the copper(II) ion in an O,N,O tridentate fashion. The square-pyramidal geometry of the final complexes is completed by two water ligands. The formation of an unusual seven-membered ring in the set of copper(II) N-salicylidene-aminoacidates is reported. Compounds 1-3 were evaluated by the antiradical activity assay.  相似文献

Three new reduced amino-acid Schiff base complexes, [Co(HL)2(H2O)2] · 4H2O (1), [Cu(HL)2(H2O)2] · 2H2O (2), and [Cd(HL)2(H2O)3] · 2H2O (3), where H2L is the reduced Schiff-base ligand derived from the condensation of N-(4-hydroxybenzaldehyde) with L-glycine, have been synthesized and characterized by physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. In these complexes, the two bidentate monoanionic Schiff base ligands coordinate the metal center through the secondary amine N atom and the carboxylate O atom. Water ligands complete a distorted octahedral (1, 2) or a pentagonal bipyramidal coordination geometry (3) around each metal center. The binding interactions of the complexes with CT-DNA have been investigated by UV–visible spectrophotometry and fluorescence quenching methods. The results show that these complexes bind to CT-DNA with an intercalative mode. In addition, DNA cleavage experiments have been also investigated by agarose gel electrophoresis. Complexes 13 show oxidative DNA cleavage activity in the presence of H2O2/sodium ascorbate and the reactive oxygen species responsible for the DNA cleavage is most likely singlet oxygen. Summary Schiff bases (HL) produced by the condensation ofN-methyl-S-methyldithiocarbazate with -diketones and aromatic aldehydes or ketones react with [RuHClCO(PPh3)3] to yield hexacoordinated complexes of the type [RuClCO(PPh3)2(L)]. These Schiff bases react with [RuCl2{P(OR)3}4] in 11 molar ratio to yield [RuCl{P(OR)3}2(L)] in which L is a tridentate. The chlorine atom in the complex can be removed in coordinating solvents in the presence of anions such as [BPh4] to give cationic complexes. Bis chelate complexes, [Ru{P(OR)3}2(L)2] are prepared from 12 molar proportions of the reactants. These complexes were characterised by elemental analyses, i.r.,1H n.m.r., u.v. and conductivity studies.NCL Communication No. 4224.  相似文献

Mononuclear copper(II) Schiff base complexes, Cu(BrSal2Pn) (I) and Cu(BrSal2MePn) (II), where BrSal2Pn = N,N′-bis(5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)propane-1,3-diamine and BrSal2MePn = N,N′-bis(5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diamine, have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Also, the optimized geometries of them have been calculated using density functional theory method (B3LYP/6–31g). Obtained structural parameters are in agreement with the experimental data. The geometry around the copper atoms display a distorted square-planner structure by coordinating with two oxygen atoms from the phenols moieties and two nitrogen atoms from the imino groups of ligands and thus established three 6-membered rings.  相似文献

Mixed-ligand complexes of copper(II) with 1,10-phenanthroline and various Schiff bases have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, electronic and i.r. spectra, magnetic moment and molar conductance data. The Schiff base behave as bidentate ligands, and the mixed-ligand copper(II) complexes of the ligands HL1, HL2 and HL4 are binuclear. The conductivity data for all the complexes are consistent with those expected for an electrolyte. Antimicrobial activities of some of the ligands and complexes have been tested against Bacillus megaterium and Candida tropicalis. 1H and 13C n.m.r. spectra have been recorded in order to solve the solution structure of the ligands. Thermal properties of all complexes have been studied by the d.t.a. and t.g.a. techniques.  相似文献

The coordination modes of copper(II) complexes of Schiff base-derived coumarin ligands, which had previously shown good anti-Candida activity, were investigated by pH-potentiometric and UV-Vis spectroscopic methods. These studies confirmed the coordination mode of the ligands to be through the N of the imine and deprotonated phenol of the coumarin-derived ligand in solution. In addition, the more active complexes and their corresponding ligands were investigated in the presence of copper(II) in liquid and frozen solution by ESR spectroscopic methods. A series of secondary amine derivatives of the Schiff base ligands, were isolated with good solubility characteristics but showed little anti-Candida activity. However, cytotoxicity studies of the secondary amines, together with the copper complexes and their corresponding ligands, against human colon cancer and human breast cancer cells identified the chemotherapeutic potential of these new ligands.  相似文献

Five new mixed ligand coper(II) complexes, viz. [Cu(SAA)(H2O)] (1), [Cu(SAA)(MeImH)] (2), [Cu(SAA)(EtImH)] (3), [Cu(SAA)(BenzImH)] (4) and [Cu(SAA)(MebenzImH)] (5), where SAA = salicylideneanthranilic acid, MeImH = 2-methylimidazole, EtImH = 2-ethylimidazole, BenzImH = benzimidazole, MebenzImH = 2-methylbenzimidazole, have been synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analysis, FAB mass spectrometry, magnetic susceptibility, X-band EPR, electronic spectroscopy, IR and cyclic voltammetry. The frozen solution EPR spectra of the complexes have shown axial features. Single crystal X-ray analysis of 2 and 3 has revealed the presence of a distorted square planar geometry (N2O2) in the complexes. The superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity of the present complexes has also been measured and discussed.  相似文献

The Schiff base, 4-(2-pyrrolylmethylideneamino)antipyrine (HPAP), (1), and its copper(II) complexes were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and by physical and spectral methods such as i.r., u.v.–vis., 1H-n.m.r., 13C-n.m.r. and e.s.r. as well as by molar conductance and magnetic moment determinations. Both the bis-ligand, [(HPAP)2Cu]X2 (4, 5), [(PAP)2Cu] (6), and the dimer, [(PAP)Cu]2X2 (2, 3), complexes were isolated. In these complexes, the Schiff base acts as a bidentate or tridentate neutral or monobasic ligand. Interaction of the isolated [(PAP)Cu]2Cl2 (2), with strong coordinating organic bases was studied and the resultant adducts, [(PAP)CuLs]Cl; Ls = pyridine (7), -picoline (8), -picoline (9), -picoline (10) or n-propylamine (11), were isolated and characterized. Biological activity screening was studied and an activity correlation coefficients matrix was constructed for HPAP and the copper(II) complexes against gram-positive, gram-negative and fungi species. The copper content, structure of the complex as well as the degree of exposure of the metal center control the biological activity of the isolated complexes.  相似文献

A number of dicopper(II) complexes of reduced Schiff base ligands, N-(2-hydroxybenzyl)-amino acids [Cu2L2(H2O)x].yH2O (L = Sgly (1), D-Sala (2), L-Sala (3), DL-Sala (4), Sab2 (5), Sbal (6), Sab4 (7), Sval (8), Shis (9), Styr (10) and Stryp (11), x= 0-2 & y= 0-2) have been synthesized, and the solid-state structures of, and have been determined. The compounds and are binuclear in which the Cu(II) centres have square-pyramidal geometry with apical sites occupied by aqua ligands. In and one axial site is occupied by water and the other by an oxygen atom of the carboxylate group from the adjacent dimer through oxygen atoms to form 1D helical polymer. Variable temperature magnetic measurements of the dimer and helical polymer showed that they are typical for moderately strong antiferromagnetic coupling. All the complexes show significant catalytic activity on the oxidation of 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol. The activity measured in terms of Kcat in the range 199-3800 h(-1) has been found to follow the order: 7>6>8>3>5 approximately 2 approximately 1>4 >10 >9 >11. The catalytic activity is found to increase with increasing the length of the methylene side chain of the amino acid in the reduced Schiff base ligands.  相似文献

Two new potentially hexadentate N2O4 Schiff base ligands 2-((z)-(2-(2-(2-((z)-3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzylideneamino) phenoxy) phenoxy) phenylimino) methyl)-4,6-di-tert-butylphenol [H2L1] and 2-((z)-(2-(2-(2-((z)-3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzylideneamino) phenoxy)-5-tert-butylphenoxy) phenylimino) methyl)-4,6-di-tert-butylphenol [H2L2] were prepared from the reaction of 3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxy benzaldehyde with 1,2-bis(2′-aminophenoxy)benzene or 1,2-bis(2′-aminophenoxy)-4-t-butylbenzene, respectively. From the direct reaction of ligands [H2L1] and [H2L2] with copper(II) and cobalt(II) salts in methanolic solution and in the presence of N(Et)3 the neutral [CuL1], [CuL2], [CoL1] and [CoL2] complexes were prepared. All complexes were characterized by IR spectra, elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, mass spectra, molar conductance (Λm), UV-Vis spectra and in the case of [CuL2] with X-ray diffraction. X-ray crystal structure of [CuL2] showed that the complex contains copper(II) in a distorted square planar environment of N2O2 donors. Three CH/π interactions were observed in the molecular structure of latter complex.  相似文献
