Sturm-Liouville Operators with Singularities and Generalized Nevanlinna Functions

The Titchmarsh–Weyl function, which was introduced in Fulton (Math Nachr 281(10):1418–1475, 2008) for the Sturm-Liouville equation with a hydrogen-like potential on (0, ∞), is shown to belong to a generalized Nevanlinna class N_k{bf N_kappa}. As a consequence, also in the case of two singular endpoints for the Fourier transformation defined by means of Frobenius solutions there exists a scalar spectral function. This spectral function is given explicitly for potentials of the form dfracq₀x²+dfracq₁x, -dfrac 14 ￡ q₀ < ￥{dfrac{q_0}{x^2}+dfrac{q_1}{x},,-dfrac 14le q_0 < infty}.

On Groups with Finitely Many Conradian Orderings

We study the space of left-orderings on groups with (only) finitely many Conradian orderings. We show that, within this class of groups, having an isolated left-ordering is equivalent to having finitely many left-orderings.     

An Oscillation Theorem for a Sturm -Liouville Eigenvalue Problem

We consider a certain Sturm - Liouville eigenvalue problem with self- adjoint and non -separated boundary conditions. We derive an explicit formula for the oscillation number of any given eigenfunction.

Eigenvalue asymptotics for Sturm-Liouville operators with singular potentials

We derive eigenvalue asymptotics for Sturm-Liouville operators with singular complex-valued potentials from the space , α∈[0,1], and Dirichlet or Neumann-Dirichlet boundary conditions. We also give application of the obtained results to the inverse spectral problem of recovering the potential from these two spectra.     

Infinitely Many Solutions for a Mixed Doubly Eigenvalue Boundary Value Problem

In this paper, we prove the existence of infinitely many weak solutions for a mixed doubly eigenvalue boundary value problem. The approach is based on variational methods.     

Random Walks on Trees with Finitely Many Cone Types

This paper is devoted to the study of random walks on infinite trees with finitely many cone types (also called periodic trees). We consider nearest neighbour random walks with probabilities adapted to the cone structure of the tree, which include in particular the well studied classes of simple and homesick random walks. We give a simple criterion for transience or recurrence of the random walk and prove that the spectral radius is equal to 1 if and only if the random walk is recurrent. Furthermore, we study the asymptotic behaviour of return probabilitites and prove a local limit theorem. In the transient case, we also prove a law of large numbers and compute the rate of escape of the random walk to infinity, as well as prove a central limit theorem. Finally, we describe the structure of the boundary process and explain its connection with the random walk.     

Integrally Closed Domains with Only Finitely Many Star Operations

We prove that an integrally closed domain R admits only finitely many star operations if and only if R satisfies each of the following conditions: (1) R is a Prüfer domain with finite character, (2) all but finitely many maximal ideals of R are divisorial, (3) only finitely many maximal ideals of R contain a nonzero prime ideal that is contained in some other maximal ideal of R, and (4) if P ≠ (0) is the largest prime ideal contained in a (necessarily finite) collection of maximal ideals of R, then the prime spectrum of R/P is finite.     

Some Boolean Algebras with Finitely Many Distinguished Ideals I

We consider the theory Th_prin of Boolean algebras with a principal ideal, the theory Th_max of Boolean algebras with a maximal ideal, the theory Th_ac of atomic Boolean algebras with an ideal where the supremum of the ideal exists, and the theory Th_sa of atomless Boolean algebras with an ideal where the supremum of the ideal exists. First, we find elementary invariants for Th_prin and Th_sa. If T is a theory in a first order language and α is a linear order with least element, then we let Sentalg(T) be the Lindenbaum-Tarski algebra with respect to T, and we let intalg(α) be the interval algebra of α. Using rank diagrams, we show that Sentalg(Th_prin) ? intalg(ω⁴), Sentalg(Th_max) ? intalg(ω³) ? Sentalg(Th_ac), and Sentalg(Th_sa) ? intalg(ω² + ω²). For Th_max and Th_ac we use Ershov's elementary invariants of these theories. We also show that the algebra of formulas of the theory Tx of Boolean algebras with finitely many ideals is atomic.     

Complete Theories with Finitely Many Countable Models. I

A syntactic characterization is furnished for the class of elementary complete theories with finitely many countable models, which is the analog of a known theorem by Ryll-Nardzewski on countably categorical theories, and is based on classifying the theories by Rudin-Keisler quasiorders and distribution functions of a number of models limit over types.

It is proved that if A ₁,A ₂,..., A _m and B ₁,B ₂,..., B _n are objects in a finitely accessible additive category \(\mathcal{A}\) such that their pure injective envelopes are indecomposable, and there are pure monomorphisms μ:A ₁?⊕?A ₂?⊕?...?⊕?A _m →B ₁?⊕?B ₂?⊕?...?⊕?B _n and ν:B ₁?⊕?B ₂?⊕?...?⊕?B _n →A ₁?⊕?A ₂?⊕?...?⊕?A _m , then m?=?n and there are a permutation σ and pure monomorphisms A _i →B _σ(i) and B _σ(i)→A _i for every i?=?1, 2, ..., n.

考虑了一类具有转移条件的向量Sturm-Liouville问题的特征值及其重数问题.首先构造了与问题相关的新内积和基本解,得到特征值的充要条件.在此基础上证明了二维情况下,问题特征值的代数重数与几何重数相等.

On the Finiteness of Noetherian Rings with Finitely Many Regular Elements

Let R be a left Noetherian ring and ZD(R) be the set of all zero-divisors of R. In this paper, it is shown that if R \ ZD(R) is finite, then R is finite.
