The aim of this work is to establish the existence of multi-peak solutions for the following class of quasilinear problems
$$ - \mbox{div} \bigl(\epsilon^{2}\phi\bigl(\epsilon|\nabla u|\bigr)\nabla u \bigr) + V(x)\phi\bigl(\vert u\vert\bigr)u = f(u)\quad\mbox{in } \mathbb{R}^{N}, $$
where \(\epsilon\) is a positive parameter, \(N\geq2\), \(V\), \(f\) are continuous functions satisfying some technical conditions and \(\phi\) is a \(C^{1}\)-function.

Let \(\mathcal {A}\subset \left( {\begin{array}{c}[n]\\ r\end{array}}\right) \) be a compressed, intersecting family and let \(X\subset [n]\). Let \(\mathcal {A}(X)=\{A\in \mathcal {A}:A\cap X\ne \emptyset \}\) and \(\mathcal {S}_{n,r}=\left( {\begin{array}{c}[n]\\ r\end{array}}\right) (\{1\})\). Motivated by the Erd?s–Ko–Rado theorem, Borg asked for which \(X\subset [2,n]\) do we have \(|\mathcal {A}(X)|\le |\mathcal {S}_{n,r}(X)|\) for all compressed, intersecting families \(\mathcal {A}\)? We call X that satisfy this property EKR. Borg classified EKR sets X such that \(|X|\ge r\). Barber classified X, with \(|X|\le r\), such that X is EKR for sufficiently large n, and asked how large n must be. We prove n is sufficiently large when n grows quadratically in r. In the case where \(\mathcal {A}\) has a maximal element, we sharpen this bound to \(n>\varphi ^{2}r\) implies \(|\mathcal {A}(X)|\le |\mathcal {S}_{n,r}(X)|\). We conclude by giving a generating function that speeds up computation of \(|\mathcal {A}(X)|\) in comparison with the naïve methods.  相似文献

In this paper we develop the theory of Fourier multiplier operators \(T_{m}:L^{p}({\mathbb R}^{d};X)\rightarrow L^{q}({\mathbb R}^{d};Y)\), for Banach spaces X and Y, \(1\le p\le q\le \infty \) and \(m:{\mathbb R}^d\rightarrow \mathcal {L}(X,Y)\) an operator-valued symbol. The case \(p=q\) has been studied extensively since the 1980s, but far less is known for \(p<q\). In the scalar setting one can deduce results for \(p<q\) from the case \(p=q\). However, in the vector-valued setting this leads to restrictions both on the smoothness of the multiplier and on the class of Banach spaces. For example, one often needs that X and Y are UMD spaces and that m satisfies a smoothness condition. We show that for \(p<q\) other geometric conditions on X and Y, such as the notions of type and cotype, can be used to study Fourier multipliers. Moreover, we obtain boundedness results for \(T_m\) without any smoothness properties of m. Under smoothness conditions the boundedness results can be extrapolated to other values of p and q as long as \(\tfrac{1}{p}-\tfrac{1}{q}\) remains constant.  相似文献

In this paper, a complete classification is achieved of all the regular covers of the complete bipartite graphs \(K_{n,n}\) with cyclic covering transformation group, whose fibre-preserving automorphism group acts 2-arc-transitively. All these covers consist of one threefold covers of \(K_{6,6}\), one twofold cover of \(K_{12, 12}\) and one infinite family X(rp) of p-fold covers of \(K_{p^r,p^r}\) with p a prime and r an integer such that \(p^r\ge 3\). This infinite family X(rp) can be derived by a very simple and nice voltage assignment f as follows: \(X(r, p)=K_{p^r, p^r}\times _f \mathbb {Z}_p\), where \(K_{p^r, p^r}\) is a complete bipartite graph with the bipartition \(V=\{ \alpha \bigm |\alpha \in V(r,p)\}\cup \{ \alpha '\bigm |\alpha \in V(r,p)\}\) for the r-dimensional vector space V(rp) over the field of order p and \(f_{\alpha ,\beta '}=\sum _{i=1}^ra_ib_i,\,\, \mathrm{for\,\,all}\,\,\alpha =(a_i)_r, \beta =(b_i)_r\in V(r,p)\).  相似文献

A pure Mendelsohn triple system of order v, denoted by PMTS(v), is a pair \((X,\mathcal {B})\) where X is a v-set and \(\mathcal {B}\) is a collection of cyclic triples on X such that every ordered pair of X belongs to exactly one triple of \(\mathcal {B}\) and if \(\langle a,b,c\rangle \in \mathcal {B}\) implies \(\langle c,b,a\rangle \notin \mathcal {B}\). An overlarge set of PMTS(v), denoted by OLPMTS(v), is a collection \(\{(Y{\setminus }\{y_i\},{\mathcal {A}}_i)\}_i\), where Y is a \((v+1)\)-set, \(y_i\in Y\), each \((Y{\setminus }\{y_i\},{\mathcal {A}}_i)\) is a PMTS(v) and these \({\mathcal {A}}_i\)s form a partition of all cyclic triples on Y. It is shown in [3] that there exists an OLPMTS(v) for \(v\equiv 1,3\) (mod 6), \(v>3\), or \(v \equiv 0,4\) (mod 12). In this paper, we shall discuss the existence problem of OLPMTS(v)s for \(v\equiv 6,10\) (mod 12) and get the following conclusion: there exists an OLPMTS(v) if and only if \(v\equiv 0,1\) (mod 3), \(v>3\) and \(v\ne 6\).  相似文献

Let \(M_p(X,T)\) denote the Markov type p constant at time T of a metric space X, where \(p \ge 1\). We show that \(M_p(Y,T) \le M_p(X,T)\) in each of the following cases: (a) X and Y are geodesic spaces and Y is covered by X via a finite-sheeted locally isometric covering, (b) Y is the quotient of X by a finite group of isometries, (c) Y is the \(L^p\)-Wasserstein space over X. As an application of (a) we show that all compact flat manifolds have Markov type 2 with constant 1. In particular the circle with its intrinsic metric has Markov type 2 with constant 1. This answers the question raised by S.-I. Ohta and M. Pichot. Parts (b) and (c) imply new upper bounds for Markov type constants of the \(L^p\)-Wasserstein space over \({\mathbb {R}}^d\). These bounds were conjectured by A. Andoni, A. Naor and O. Neiman. They imply certain restrictions on bi-Lipschitz embeddability of snowflakes into such Wasserstein spaces.  相似文献

In this paper, we solve the simultaneous Diophantine equations \(m \cdot ( x_{1}^k+ x_{2}^k +\cdots + x_{t_1}^k)=n \cdot (y_{1}^k+ y_{2}^k +\cdots + y_{t_2}^k )\), \(k=1,3\), where \( t_1, t_2\ge 3\), and m, n are fixed arbitrary and relatively prime positive integers. This is done by choosing two appropriate trivial parametric solutions and obtaining infinitely many nontrivial parametric solutions. Also we work out some examples, in particular the Diophantine systems of \(A^k+B^k+C^k=D^k+E^k\), \(k=1,3\).  相似文献

Let \(\varGamma \) be a distance-semiregular graph on Y, and let \(D^Y\) be the diameter of \(\varGamma \) on Y. Let \(\varDelta \) be the halved graph of \(\varGamma \) on Y. Fix \(x \in Y\). Let T and \(T'\) be the Terwilliger algebras of \(\varGamma \) and \(\varDelta \) with respect to x, respectively. Assume, for an integer i with \(1 \le 2i \le D^Y\) and for \(y,z \in \varGamma _{2i}(x)\) with \(\partial _{\varGamma }(y,z)=2\), the numbers \(|\varGamma _{2i-1}(x) \cap \varGamma (y) \cap \varGamma (z)|\) and \(|\varGamma _{2i+1}(x) \cap \varGamma (y) \cap \varGamma (z)|\) depend only on i and do not depend on the choice of y, z. The first goal in this paper is to show the relations between T-modules of \(\varGamma \) and \(T'\)-modules of \(\varDelta \). Assume \(\varGamma \) is the incidence graph of the Hamming graph H(Dn) on the vertex set Y and the set \({\mathcal {C}}\) of all maximal cliques. Then, \(\varGamma \) satisfies above assumption and \(\varDelta \) is isomorphic to H(Dn). The second goal is to determine the irreducible T-modules of \(\varGamma \). For each irreducible T-module W, we give a basis for W the action of the adjacency matrix on this basis and we calculate the multiplicity of W.  相似文献

In this text we show that the deformation space of a nodal surface X of degree d is smooth and of the expected dimension if \(d\le 7\) or \(d\ge 8\) and X has at most \(4d-5\) nodes (The case \(d\le 7\) was previously covered by Alexandru Dimca using different techniques). For \(d\ge 8\) we give explicit examples of nodal surfaces with \(4d-4\) nodes, for which the tangent space to the deformation space has larger dimension than expected.  相似文献

Let \(1\le p\le q<\infty \) and let X be a p-convex Banach function space over a \(\sigma \)-finite measure \(\mu \). We combine the structure of the spaces \(L^p(\mu )\) and \(L^q(\xi )\) for constructing the new space \(S_{X_p}^{\,q}(\xi )\), where \(\xi \) is a probability Radon measure on a certain compact set associated to X. We show some of its properties, and the relevant fact that every q-summing operator T defined on X can be continuously (strongly) extended to \(S_{X_p}^{\,q}(\xi )\). Our arguments lead to a mixture of the Pietsch and Maurey-Rosenthal factorization theorems, which provided the known (strong) factorizations for q-summing operators through \(L^q\)-spaces when \(1 \le q \le p\). Thus, our result completes the picture, showing what happens in the complementary case \(1\le p\le q\).  相似文献

The dimension of a poset P, denoted \(\dim (P)\), is the least positive integer d for which P is the intersection of d linear extensions of P. The maximum dimension of a poset P with \(|P|\le 2n+1\) is n, provided \(n\ge 2\), and this inequality is tight when P contains the standard example \(S_n\). However, there are posets with large dimension that do not contain the standard example \(S_2\). Moreover, for each fixed \(d\ge 2\), if P is a poset with \(|P|\le 2n+1\) and P does not contain the standard example \(S_d\), then \(\dim (P)=o(n)\). Also, for large n, there is a poset P with \(|P|=2n\) and \(\dim (P)\ge (1-o(1))n\) such that the largest d so that P contains the standard example \(S_d\) is o(n). In this paper, we will show that for every integer \(c\ge 1\), there is an integer \(f(c)=O(c^2)\) so that for large enough n, if P is a poset with \(|P|\le 2n+1\) and \(\dim (P)\ge n-c\), then P contains a standard example \(S_d\) with \(d\ge n-f(c)\). From below, we show that \(f(c)={\varOmega }(c^{4/3})\). On the other hand, we also prove an analogous result for fractional dimension, and in this setting f(c) is linear in c. Here the result is best possible up to the value of the multiplicative constant.  相似文献

Let \(X=\mathscr {J}(\widetilde{\mathscr {C}})\), the Jacobian of a genus 2 curve \(\widetilde{\mathscr {C}}\) over \({\mathbb {C}}\), and let Y be the associated Kummer surface. Consider an ample line bundle \(L=\mathscr {O}(m\widetilde{\mathscr {C}})\) on X for an even number m, and its descent to Y, say \(L'\). We show that any dominating component of \({\mathscr {W}}^1_{d}(|L'|)\) corresponds to \(\mu _{L'}\)-stable Lazarsfeld–Mukai bundles on Y. Further, for a smooth curve \(C\in |L|\) and a base-point free \(g^1_d\) on C, say (AV), we study the \(\mu _L\)-semistability of the rank-2 Lazarsfeld–Mukai bundle associated to (C, (AV)) on X. Under certain assumptions on C and the \(g^1_d\), we show that the above Lazarsfeld–Mukai bundles are \(\mu _L\)-semistable.  相似文献

Let X be a locally compact Abelian group, \(\alpha _{j}, \beta _j\) be topological automorphisms of X. Let \(\xi _1, \xi _2\) be independent random variables with values in X and distributions \(\mu _j\) with non-vanishing characteristic functions. It is known that if X contains no subgroup topologically isomorphic to the circle group \(\mathbb {T}\), then the independence of the linear forms \(L_1=\alpha _1\xi _1+\alpha _2\xi _2\) and \(L_2=\beta _1\xi _1+\beta _2\xi _2\) implies that \(\mu _j\) are Gaussian distributions. We prove that if X contains no subgroup topologically isomorphic to \(\mathbb {T}^2\), then the independence of \(L_1\) and \(L_2\) implies that \(\mu _j\) are either Gaussian distributions or convolutions of Gaussian distributions and signed measures supported in a subgroup of X generated by an element of order 2. The proof is based on solving the Skitovich–Darmois functional equation on some locally compact Abelian groups.  相似文献

Consider \(G=SL_2(\mathbb {Z})/\{\pm I\}\) acting on the complex upper half plane H by \(h_M(z)=\frac{az\,+\,b}{cz\,+\,d}\) for \(M \in G\). Let \(D=\{z \in H: |z|\ge 1, |\mathfrak {R}(z)|\le 1/2\}\). We consider the set \({\mathcal {E}} \subset G\) with the nine elements M, different from the identity, such that \(\mathrm{tr\,}(MM^T)\le 3\). We equip the tiling of H defined by \(\mathbb {D}=\{h_M(D){:}\, M \in G\}\) with a graph structure where the neighbours are defined by \(h_M(D) \cap h_{M'}(D) \ne \emptyset \), equivalently \(M^{-1}M' \in {\mathcal {E}}\). The present paper studies several Markov chains related to the above structure. We show that the simple random walk on the above graph converges a.s. to a point X of the real line with the same distribution of \(S_2 W^{S_1}\), where \(S_1,S_2,W\) are independent with \(\Pr (S_i=\pm 1)=1/2\) and where W is valued in (0, 1) with distribution \(\Pr (W<w)=\mathbf ? (w)\). Here \(\mathbf ? \) is the Minkowski function. If \(K_1, K_2, \ldots \) are i.i.d with distribution \(\Pr (K_i=n)= 1/2^n\) for \(n=1,2,\ldots \), then \(W= \frac{1}{K_1+\frac{1}{K_2+\ldots }}\): this known result (Isola in Appl Math 5:1067–1090, 2014) is derived again here.  相似文献

Let \(X=X(n,q)\) be the set of \(n\times n\) Hermitian matrices over \(\mathbb {F}_{q^2}\). It is well known that X gives rise to a metric translation association scheme whose classes are induced by the rank metric. We study d-codes in this scheme, namely subsets Y of X with the property that, for all distinct \(A,B\in Y\), the rank of \(A-B\) is at least d. We prove bounds on the size of a d-code and show that, under certain conditions, the inner distribution of a d-code is determined by its parameters. Except if n and d are both even and \(4\le d\le n-2\), constructions of d-codes are given, which are optimal among the d-codes that are subgroups of \((X,+)\). This work complements results previously obtained for several other types of matrices over finite fields.  相似文献

This paper is divided into two parts: In the main deterministic part, we prove that for an open domain \(D \subset \mathbb {R}^d\) with \(d \ge 2\), for every (measurable) uniformly elliptic tensor field a and for almost every point \(y \in D\), there exists a unique Green’s function centred in y associated to the vectorial operator \(-\nabla \cdot a\nabla \) in D. This result implies the existence of the fundamental solution for elliptic systems when \(d>2\), i.e. the Green function for \(-\nabla \cdot a\nabla \) in \(\mathbb {R}^d\). In the second part, we introduce a shift-invariant ensemble \(\langle \cdot \rangle \) over the set of uniformly elliptic tensor fields, and infer for the fundamental solution G some pointwise bounds for \(\langle |G(\cdot ; x,y)|\rangle \), \(\langle |\nabla _x G(\cdot ; x,y)|\rangle \) and \(\langle |\nabla _x\nabla _y G(\cdot ; x,y)|\rangle \). These estimates scale optimally in space and provide a generalisation to systems of the bounds obtained by Delmotte and Deuschel for the scalar case.  相似文献

Let \(\Gamma \) denote a bipartite distance-regular graph with vertex set X, diameter \(D \ge 4\), and valency \(k \ge 3\). Let \({{\mathbb {C}}}^X\) denote the vector space over \({{\mathbb {C}}}\) consisting of column vectors with entries in \({{\mathbb {C}}}\) and rows indexed by X. For \(z \in X\), let \({{\widehat{z}}}\) denote the vector in \({{\mathbb {C}}}^X\) with a 1 in the z-coordinate, and 0 in all other coordinates. Fix a vertex x of \(\Gamma \) and let \(T = T(x)\) denote the corresponding Terwilliger algebra. Assume that up to isomorphism there exist exactly two irreducible T-modules with endpoint 2, and they both are thin. Fix \(y \in X\) such that \(\partial (x,y)=2\), where \(\partial \) denotes path-length distance. For \(0 \le i,j \le D\) define \(w_{ij}=\sum {{\widehat{z}}}\), where the sum is over all \(z \in X\) such that \(\partial (x,z)=i\) and \(\partial (y,z)=j\). We define \(W=\mathrm{span}\{w_{ij} \mid 0 \le i,j \le D\}\). In this paper we consider the space \(MW=\mathrm{span}\{mw \mid m \in M, w \in W\}\), where M is the Bose–Mesner algebra of \(\Gamma \). We observe that MW is the minimal A-invariant subspace of \({{\mathbb {C}}}^X\) which contains W, where A is the adjacency matrix of \(\Gamma \). We show that \(4D-6 \le \mathrm{dim}(MW) \le 4D-2\). We display a basis for MW for each of these five cases, and we give the action of A on these bases.  相似文献

Given a sequence of random functionals \(\bigl \{X_k(u)\bigr \}_{k \in \mathbb {Z}}\), \(u \in \mathbf{I}^d\), \(d \ge 1\), the normalized partial sums \(\check{S}_{nt}(u) = n^{-1/2}\bigl (X_1(u) + \cdots + X_{\lfloor n t \rfloor }(u)\bigr )\), \(t \in [0,1]\) and its polygonal version \({S}_{nt}(u)\) are considered under a weak dependence assumption and \(p > 2\) moments. Weak invariance principles in the space of continuous functions and càdlàg functions are established. A particular emphasis is put on the process \(\check{S}_{nt}(\widehat{\theta })\), where \(\widehat{\theta } \xrightarrow {\mathbb {P}} \theta \), and weaker moment conditions (\(p = 2\) if \(d = 1\)) are assumed.  相似文献
