In a recent paper by the current authors a new methodology called the Extended-Domain-Eigenfunction-Method (EDEM) was proposed for solving elliptic boundary value problems on annular-like domains. In this paper we present and investigate one possible numerical algorithm to implement the EDEM. This algorithm is used to solve modified Helmholtz BVPs on annular-like domains. Two examples of annular-like domains are studied. The results and performance are compared with those of the well-known boundary element method (BEM). The high accuracy of the EDEM solutions and the superior efficiency of the EDEM over the BEM, make EDEM an excellent alternate candidate to use in the animation industry, where speed is a predominant requirement, and by the scientific community where accuracy is the paramount objective.  相似文献

In this paper we define time dependent parabolic Reifenberg domains and study Lp estimates for weak solutions of uniformly parabolic equations in divergence form on these domains. The basic assumption is that the principal coefficients are of parabolic BMO space with small parabolic BMO seminorms. It is shown that Lp estimates hold for time dependent parabolic δ-Reifenberg domains.  相似文献

Non-linear elliptic Neumann problems, possibly in irregular domains and with data affected by low integrability properties, are taken into account. Existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence on the data of generalized solutions are established under a suitable balance between the integrability of the datum and the (ir)regularity of the domain. The latter is described in terms of isocapacitary inequalities. Applications to various classes of domains are also presented.  相似文献

It is well known that the heat kernel in the hyperbolic space has a different behavior for large times than the one in the Euclidean space. The main purpose of this paper is to study its effect on the positive solutions of Cauchy problems with power nonlinearities. Existence and non-existence results for local solutions are derived. Emphasis is put on their long time behavior and on Fujita?s phenomenon. To have the same situation as for the Cauchy problem in RN, namely finite time blow up for all solutions if the exponent is smaller than a critical value and existence of global solutions only for powers above the critical exponent, we must introduce a weight depending exponentially on the time. In this respect the situation is similar to problems in bounded domains with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Important tools are estimates for the heat kernel in the hyperbolic space and comparison principles.  相似文献

In this paper we study the existence of bounded weak solutions for some nonlinear Dirichlet problems in unbounded domains. The principal part of the operator behaves like the p-laplacian operator, and the lower order terms, which depend on the solution u and its gradient u, have a power growth of order p–1 with respect to these variables, while they are bounded in the x variable. The source term belongs to a Lebesgue space with a prescribed asymptotic behaviour at infinity.  相似文献

We consider the solvability of the Neumann problem for equation (1.1) in exterior domains in both cases: subcritical and critical. We establish the existence of least energy solutions. In the subcritical case the coefficient b(x) is allowed to have a potential well whose steepness is controlled by a parameter λ > 0. We show that least energy solutions exhibit a tendency to concentrate to a solution of a nonlinear problem with mixed boundary value conditions.  相似文献

The Agmon-Miranda maximum principle for the polyharmonic equations of all orders is shown to hold in Lipschitz domains in ℝ3. In ℝn,n≥4, the Agmon-Miranda maximum principle andL p-Dirichlet estimates for certainp>2 are shown to fail in Lipschitz domains for these equations. We consider semilinear elliptic Dirichlet problems in bounded domains, overdetermined with a Neumann condition on a proper part of the boundary. Under different kinds of assumptions, we show that these problems admit a solution only if the domain is a ball. When these assumptions are not fulfilled, we discuss possible counterexamples to symmetry. We also consider Neumann problems overdetermined with a Dirichlet condition on a proper part of the boundary, and the case of partially overdetermined problems on exterior domains.  相似文献

A weighted norm inequality of Muckenhoupt–Wheeden type is obtained for gradients of solutions to a class of quasilinear equations with measure data on Reifenberg flat domains. Summary In this paper, we present a scheme of convergence analysis of trial free boundary methods for the two-dimensional filtration (or dam) problem. For the purpose we present a new variational principle of the filtration problem. This variational principle is defined on the set of admissible domains (candidates of the solution) in the dam. Under mild assumptions on the configuration of the dam, we may assume that all admissible domains are mapped from the unit disk by conformal mappings. Thus, proving convergence of trial free boundaries is reduced to proving convergence of the conformal mappings on the unit disk, and it is done using a method in the theory of minimal surfaces. A class of asymptotically quadratic functionals on Hilbert spaces, called degenerate, is considered and explored. Our results are applied to obtain a extension, in the planar case, of a result published by Solimini in ‘On the solvability of some elliptic partial differential equations with the linear part at resonance’, J.
