The study of periodic solutions with constant sign in the Abel equation of the second kind can be made through the equation of the first kind. This is because the situation is equivalent under the transformation x?x−1, and there are many results available in the literature for the first kind equation. However, the equivalence breaks down when one seeks for solutions with nonconstant sign. This note is devoted to periodic solutions with nonconstant sign in Abel equations of the second kind. Specifically, we obtain sufficient conditions to ensure the existence of a periodic solution that shares the zeros of the leading coefficient of the Abel equation. Uniqueness and stability features of such solutions are also studied.  相似文献

This paper presents a new approximate method of Abel differential equation. By using the shifted Chebyshev expansion of the unknown function, Abel differential equation is approximately transformed to a system of nonlinear equations for the unknown coefficients. A desired solution can be determined by solving the resulting nonlinear system. This method gives a simple and closed form of approximate solution of Abel differential equation. The solution is calculated in the form of a series with easily computable components. The numerical results show the effectiveness of the method for this type of equation. Comparing the methodology with some known techniques shows that the present approach is relatively easy and highly accurate.  相似文献

A similarity analysis of a nonlinear fin equation has been carried out by M. Pakdemirli and A.Z. Sahin [Similarity analysis of a nonlinear fin equation, Appl. Math. Lett. (2005) (in press)]. Here, we consider a further group theoretic analysis that leads to an alternative set of exact solutions or reduced equations with an emphasis on travelling wave solutions, steady state type solutions and solutions not appearing elsewhere.  相似文献

In this paper, the Dullin-Gottwald-Holm equation is studied using semi-inverse method and integral bifurcation method. New periodic waves such as peakon-like periodic wave, compacton-like periodic wave and singular periodic wave are found and their dynamical behaviors and certain strange phenomena are explained using the proposed criterion. By employing auxiliary equation method and Hirota bilinear method, the quantum Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation which arises in quantum magnetoplasma is investigated. With the aid of symbolic computation, both solitary wave solutions and multiple-soliton solutions are obtained. These new exact solutions will extend previous results and help us explain the properties of multidimensional nonlinear ion-acoustic waves in dense magnetoplasma.  相似文献

The composition conjecture for the Abel differential equation states that if all solutions in a neighborhood of the origin are periodic then the indefinite integrals of its coefficients are compositions of a periodic function. Several research articles were published in the last 20 years to prove the conjecture or a weaker version of it. The problem is related to the classical center problem of polynomial two-dimensional systems. The conjecture opens important relations with classical analysis and algebra. We give a widely accessible exposition of this conjecture and verify the conjecture for certain classes of coefficients.  相似文献

By using an extension of the homogeneous balance method and Maple, the Bäcklund transformations for the Sharma-Tasso-Olver equation are derived. The connections between the Sharma-Tasso-Olver equation and some linear partial differential equations are found. With the aid of the transformations given here and the computer program Maple 12, abundant exact explicit special solutions to the Sharma-Tasso-Olver equation are constructed. In addition to all known solutions re-deriving in a systematic way, several entirely new and more general exact explicit solitary wave solutions can also be obtained. These solutions include (a) the algebraic solitary wave solution of rational function, (b) single-soliton solutions, (c) double-soliton solutions, (d) N-soliton solutions, (e) singular traveling solutions, (f) the periodic wave solutions of trigonometric function type, and (g) many non-traveling solutions. By using the Airy’s function and the Bäcklund transformations obtained here, the exact explicit solution of the initial value problem for the STO equation is presented. The variety of the structure of the solutions for the Sharma-Tasso-Olver equation is illustrated.  相似文献

Lie symmetry method is applied to analyse Fisher equation in cylindrical coordinates. Symmetry algebra is found and symmetry invariance is used to reduce the equation to a first-order ODE. New exact solutions for a generalized variable-coefficient KdV equation were obtained using the generalized expansion method [R. Sabry, M.A. Zahran, E.G. Fan, Phys. Lett. A 326 (2004) 93]. In the present study, we converted the resulting nonlinear equation for the evolution of weakly nonlinear hydrodynamic disturbances on a static cosmological background with self-focusing in a two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation. Applying the function transformation method, the NLS equation was transformed to an ordinary differential equation, which depended only on one function ξ and can be solved. The general solution of the latter equation in ζ leads to a general solution of NLS equation. A new set of exact solutions for the two-dimensional NLS equation is obtained.  相似文献

In this work, a new generalized Jacobi elliptic functions expansion method based upon four new Jacobi elliptic functions is described and abundant new Jacobi-like elliptic functions solutions for the variable-coefficient mKdV equation are obtained by using this method, some of these solutions are degenerated to solitary-like solutions and triangular-like functions solutions in the limit cases when the modulus of the Jacobi elliptic functions m→1 or 0, which shows that the new method can be also used to solve other nonlinear partial differential equations in mathematical physics.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to reveal the dynamical behavior of the nonlinear wave equation with fifth-order nonlinear term, and provides its bounded traveling wave solutions. Applying the bifurcation theory of planar dynamical systems, we depict phase portraits of the traveling wave system corresponding to this equation under various parameter conditions. Through discussing the bifurcation of phase portraits, we obtain all explicit expressions of solitary wave solutions and kink wave solutions. Further, we investigate the relation between the bounded orbit of the traveling wave system and the energy level h. Exact solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili by Zhang [Huiqun Zhang, A note on exact complex travelling wave solutions for (2+1)-dimensional B-type Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation, Appl. Math. Comput. 216 (2010) 2771-2777] are considered. To look for “new types of exact solutions travelling wave solutions” of equation Zhang has used the G′/G-expansion method. We demonstrate that there is the general solution for the reduction by Zhang from the (2+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation and all solutions by Zhang are found as partial cases from the general solution.  相似文献
