Perovskite‐based electrocatalysts are one of the most promising materials for oxygen evolution reaction (OER), but their activity and durability are still far from desirable. Herein, we demonstrate that the double perovskite LaFexNi1?xO3 (LFNO) nanorods (NRs) can be adopted as highly active and stable OER electrocatalysts. The optimized LFNO‐II NRs with Ni/Fe ratio of 8:2 achieve a low overpotential of 302 mV at 10 mA cm?2 and a small Tafel slope of 50 mV dec?1, outperforming those of the commercial Ir/C. The LFNO‐II NRs also show high OER stability with slight current decrease after 20 h. The enhanced activity is explained by the improved surface area, tailored electronic structure as well as strong hybridization between O and Ni.  相似文献

Developing earth-abundant, highly active and long-term durable electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is highly desirable and great challenging for large-scale industrial application of electrochemical water splitting. Herein, in-situ growth of uniform nanosheet arrays on nickel foam (NF) is hydrothermally achieved by varying feed ratios of FeIII and NiII salts. The feed ratio of the two active metals has significantly dominated both the morphological and electronic structures of the resultant electrocatalysts, leading to feed ratio-dependent volcano-type OER activity. The optimized Fe0.89Ni0.11-BDC/NF exhibits the best OER performance, affording a low overpotential of 220 mV to drive a current density of 50 mA · cm–2 with small Tafel slope of 44.8 mV · dec–1 and long-lasting stability over 20 hours. The synergistic effect from the FeIII and NiII species on both the morphological and electronic structure modulations have dramatically accelerated the reaction kinetics, responsible eventually for the enhanced OER activity. This work provides valuable information for nanostructured MOFs as efficient electrocatalysts.  相似文献

The exploration of new efficient OER electrocatalysts based on nonprecious metals and the understanding of the relationship between activity and structure of electrocatalysts are important to advance electrochemical water oxidation. Herein, we developed an efficient OER electrocatalyst with nickel boride (Ni3B) nanoparticles as cores and nickel(II) borate (Ni-Bi) as shells (Ni-Bi@NB) via a very simple and facile aqueous reaction. This electrocatalyst exhibited a small overpotential of 302 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and Tafel slope of 52 mV dec−1. More interestingly, it was found that the OER activity of Ni-Bi@NB was closely dependent on the crystallinity of the Ni-Bi shells. The partially crystalline Ni-Bi catalyst exhibited much higher activity than the amorphous or crystalline analogues; this higher activity originated from the enhanced intrinsic activity of the catalytic sites. These findings open up opportunities to explore nickel(II) borates as a new class of efficient nonprecious metal OER electrocatalysts, and to improve the electrocatalyst performance by modulating their crystallinity.  相似文献

The design and exploration of highly efficient and economical electrocatalysts for large-scale hydrogen generation from electrochemical water splitting is of great importance towards hydrogen economy. Herein, we have synthesized heterogeneous Cu1.92S@Cu3P/Ni2P nanospheres on nickel foam, which exhibits excellent OER activity in alkaline solution. When used as an anode, the overpotential of Cu1.92S@Cu3P/Ni2P at the current density of 10 mA cm−2 is only 211 mV, with a good stability (24 h). The heterogeneous Cu1.92S@Cu3P/Ni2P nanospheres has synergistic modulation of electronic structure, abundant active sites and fast electron transfer rate, which contributes to its high OER activity.  相似文献

Developing efficient non‐noble metal and earth‐abundant electrocatalysts with tunable microstructures for overall water splitting is critical to promote clean energy technologies for a hydrogen economy. Herein, novel three‐dimensional (3D) flower‐like Ni2P composed of mesoporous nanoplates with controllable morphology and high surface area was prepared by a hydrothermal method and low‐temperature phosphidation as efficient electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Compared with the urchin‐like Nix Py , the 3D flower‐like Ni2P with a diameter of 5 μm presented an efficient and stable catalytic performance in 0.5 m H2SO4, with a small Tafel slope of 79 mV dec−1 and an overpotential of about 240 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm−2 with a mass loading density of 0.283 mg cm−2. In addition, the catalyst also exhibited a remarkable performance for the OER in 1.0 m KOH electrolyte, with an overpotential of 320 mV to reach a current density of 10 mA cm−2 and a small Tafel slope of 72 mV dec−1. The excellent catalytic performance of the as‐prepared Ni2P may be ascribed to its novel 3D morphology with unique mesoporous structure.  相似文献

Coordination polymers(CPs) have great potential to be used in electrocatalysis owing to their designable compositions and structures. It is highly challenging to apply CPs as electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction(OER) on account of insufficient catalytic efficiency and relatively poor stability of current electrocatalysts. Herein, through a mixed-metal strategy, one-dimensional CoxNi1-x-HIPA with dual active sites was synthesized and studied for OER electrocatalyst...  相似文献

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been considered as potential oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts owning to their ultra-thin structure, adjustable composition, high surface area, and high porosity. Here, we designed and fabricated a vanadium-doped nickel organic framework (V1−x−NixMOF) system by using a facile two-step solvothermal method on nickel foam (NF). The doping of vanadium remarkably elevates the OER activity of V1−x−NixMOF, thus demonstrating better performance than the corresponding single metallic Ni-MOF, NiV-MOF and RuO2 catalysts at high current density (>400 mA cm−2). V0.09−Ni0.91MOF/NF provides a low overpotential of 235 mV and a small Tafel slope of 30.3 mV dec−1 at a current density of 10 mA cm−2. More importantly, a water-splitting device assembled with Pt/C/NF and V0.09−Ni0.91MOF/NF as cathode and anode yielded a cell voltage of 1.96 V@1000 mA cm−2, thereby outperforming the-state-of-the-art RuO2(+)||Pt/C(−). Our work sheds new insight on preparing stable, efficient OER electrocatalysts and a promising method for designing various MOF-based materials.

It is extremely desirable to explore high-efficient, affordable and robust oxygen electrocatalysts toward rechargeable Zn–air batteries (ZABs). A 3D porous nitrogen-doped graphene encapsulated metallic Ni3Fe alloy nanoparticles aerogel (Ni3Fe-GA1) was constructed through a facile hydrothermal assembly and calcination process. Benefiting from 3D porous configuration with great accessibility, high electrical conductivity, abundant active sites, optimal nitrogen content and strong electronic interactions at the Ni3Fe/N-doped graphene heterointerface, the obtained aerogel showed outstanding catalytic performance toward the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Specifically, it exhibited an overpotential of 239 mV to attain 10 mA cm−2 for OER, simultaneously providing a positive onset potential of 0.93 V within a half-wave potential of 0.8 V for ORR. Accordingly, when employed in the aqueous ZABs, Ni3Fe-GA1 achieved higher power density and superior reversibility than Pt/C−IrO2 catalyst, making it a potential candidate for rechargeable ZABs.  相似文献

NiFe layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have been denoted as benchmark non-noble-metal electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). However, for laminates of NiFe LDHs, the edge sites are active, but the basal plane is inert, leading to underutilization as catalysts for the OER. Herein, for the first time, light and electron-deficient Li ions are intercalated into the basal plane of NiFe LDHs. The results of theoretical calculations and experiments both showed that electrons would be transferred from near Ni2+ to the surroundings of Li+, resulting in electron-deficient properties of the Ni sites, which would function as “electron-hungry” sites, to enhance surface adsorption of electron-rich oxygen-containing groups, which would enhance the effective activity for the OER. As demonstrated by the catalytic performance, the Li−NiFe LDH electrodes showed an ultralow overpotential of only 298 mV at 50 mA cm−2, which was lower than that of 347 mV for initial NiFe LDHs and lower than that of 373 mV for RuO2. Reasonable intercalation adjustment effectively activates laminated Ni2+ sites and constructs the electron-deficient structure to enhance its electrocatalytic activity, which sheds light on the functional treatment of catalytic materials.  相似文献

Developing highly active, stable and robust electrocatalysts based on earth‐abundant elements for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is important for many renewable energy conversion processes. Herein, NixCo3‐xO4 nanoneedle arrays grown on 3D porous nickel foam (NF) was synthesized as a bifunctional electrocatalyst with OER and HER activity for full water splitting. Benefiting from the advantageous structure, the composite exhibits superior OER activity with an overpotential of 320 mV achieving the current density of 10 mA cm?2. An exceptional HER activity is also acquired with an overpotential of 170 mV at the current density of 10 mA cm?2. Furthermore, the catalyst also shows the superior activity and stability for 20 h when used in the overall water splitting cell. Thus, the hierarchical 3D structure composed of the 1D nanoneedle structure in NixCo3‐xO4/NF represents an avenue to design and develop highly active and bifunctional electrocatalysts for promising energy conversion.  相似文献

Iron‐based (oxy)hydroxides are especially attractive electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) owing to their earth abundance, low cost, and nontoxicity. However, poor OER kinetics on the surface restricts the performance of the FeOOH electrocatalyst. Herein, a highly efficient and stable Ni(OH)2/β‐like FeOOH electrocatalyst is obtained by facile electroactivation treatment. The activated Ni(OH)2/β‐like FeOOH sample indicates an overpotential of 300 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for the OER, and no clear current decay after 50 h of testing; this is comparable to the most efficient nickel‐ and cobalt‐based electrocatalysts on planar substrates. Furthermore, studies suggest that β‐like FeOOH plays a key role in remarkably enhancing the performance during the electroactivation process owing to its metastable tunnel structure with a lower barrier for interface diffusion of Ni2+ ions between the bilayer electrocatalyst. This study develops a new strategy to explore efficient and low‐cost electrocatalysts and deepens understanding of bilayer electrocatalysts for the OER.  相似文献

In the pursuit of long-term stability for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in seawater, retaining the intrinsic catalytic activity is essential but has remained challenging. Herein, we developed a NixCryO electrocatalyst that manifested exceptional OER stability in alkaline condition while improving the activity over time by dynamic self-restructuring. In 1 M KOH, NixCryO required overpotentials of only 270 and 320 mV to achieve current densities of 100 and 500 mA cm−2, respectively, with excellent long-term stability exceeding 475 h at 100 mA cm−2 and 280 h at 500 mA cm−2. The combination of electrochemical measurements and in situ studies revealed that leaching and redistribution of Cr during the prolonged electrolysis resulted in increased electrochemically active surface area. This eventually enhanced the catalyst porosity and improved OER activity. NixCryO was further applied in real seawater from the Red Sea (without purification, 1 M KOH added), envisaging that the dynamically evolving porosity can offset the adverse active site-blocking effect posed by the seawater impurities. Remarkably, NixCryO exhibited stable operation for 2000, 275 and 100 h in seawater at 10, 100 and 500 mA cm−2, respectively. The proposed catalyst and the mechanistic insights represented a step towards realization of non-noble metal-based direct seawater splitting.  相似文献

Electrochemical water splitting is one of the potential approaches for making renewable energy production and storage viable. The oxygen evolution reaction (OER), as a sluggish four-electron electrochemical reaction, has to overcome high overpotential to accomplish overall water splitting. Therefore, developing low-cost and highly active OER catalysts is the key for achieving efficient and economical water electrolysis. In this work, Fe-doped NiMoO4 was synthesized and evaluated as the OER catalyst in alkaline medium. Fe3+ doping helps to regulate the electronic structure of Ni centers in NiMoO4, which consequently promotes the catalytic activity of NiMoO4. The overpotential to reach a current density of 10 mA cm−2 is 299 mV in 1 m KOH for the optimal Ni0.9Fe0.1MoO4, which is 65 mV lower than that for NiMoO4. Further, the catalyst also shows exceptional performance stability during a 2 h chronopotentiometry testing. Moreover, the real catalytically active center of Ni0.9Fe0.1MoO4 is also unraveled based on the ex situ characterizations. These results provide new alternatives for precious-metal-free catalysts for alkaline OER and also expand the Fe-doping-induced synergistic effect towards performance enhancement to new catalyst systems.  相似文献

Cost-effective, highly efficient and stable non-noble metal-based catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) are very crucial for energy storage and conversion. Here, an amorphous cobalt nickel phosphate (CoNiPO4), containing a considerable amount of high-valence Ni3+ species as an efficient electrocatalyst for OER in alkaline solution, is reported. The catalyst was converted from Co-doped Ni2P through pulsed laser ablation in liquid (PLAL) and exhibits a large specific surface area of 162.5 m2 g−1 and a low overpotential of 238 mV at 10 mA cm−2 with a Tafel slope of 46 mV dec−1, which is much lower than those of commercial RuO2 and IrO2. This work demonstrates that PLAL is a powerful technology for generating amorphous CoNiPO4 with high-valence Ni3+, thus paving a new way towards highly effective OER catalysts.  相似文献

Despite the fact that many strategies have been developed to improve the efficiency of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), the precise modulation of the surface electronic properties of catalysts to improve their catalytic activity is still challenging. Herein, we demonstrate that the surface active electron density of Co3O4 can be effectively regulated by an argon-ion irradiation method. X-ray photoelectron and synchrotron x-ray absorption spectroscopy, UV photoelectron spectrometry, and DFT calculations show that the surface active electron density band center of Co3O4 has been upshifted, leading to a significantly enhanced absorption capability of the oxo group. The optimized Co3O4-based catalysts exhibit an excellent overpotential of 260 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and Tafel slope of 54 mV dec−1, superior to the capability of the benchmark RuO2, representing one of the best Co-based OER catalysts. This approach could guide the future rational design and discovery of ideal electrocatalysts.  相似文献

The oxygen vacancies of defective iron–cobalt oxide (FeCoOx-Vo) nanosheets are modified by the homogeneously distributed sulfur (S) atoms. S atoms can not only effectively stabilize oxygen vacancies (Vo), but also form the Co−S coordination with Co active site in the Vo, which can modulate the electronic structure of the active site, enabling FeCoOx-Vo-S to exhibit much superior OER activity. FeCoOx-Vo-S exhibits a mass activity of 2440.0 A g−1 at 1.5 V vs. RHE in 1.0 m KOH, 25.4 times higher than that of RuO2. The Tafel slope is as low as 21.0 mV dec−1, indicative of its excellent charge transfer rate. When FeCoOx-Vo-S (anode catalyst) is paired with the defective CoP3/Ni2P (cathode catalyst) for overall water splitting, current densities of as high as 249.0 mA cm−2 and 406.0 mA cm−2 at a cell voltage of 2.0 V and 2.3 V, respectively, can be achieved.  相似文献

Iron–cobalt phosphomolybdate (FeCoPM12) nanoparticles, which are highly efficient catalytic materials for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), were fabricated through a coprecipitation route. Compared with iron–cobalt hydroxide and state‐of‐the‐art RuO2 electrocatalysts, the as‐prepared FeCoPM12 sample exhibited robust OER catalytic activity with a low overpotential of 258 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm−2 and a small Tafel slope of 33 mV dec−1. Moreover, the as‐synthesized sample presented preferable stability and after 10 h at 1.52 V the current density degraded by merely 8.3 %. This is ascribed to the high electrochemical stability and small porous structure of FeCoPM12, which provide effective electron transmission and improve the catalytic performance for OER in alkaline media.  相似文献

Designing active and stable oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts are vitally important to various energy conversion devices. Herein, we introduce elements Ni and Mn into (Co)tet(Co2)octO4 nanosheets (NSs) at fixed geometrical sites, including Mnoct, Nioct, and Nitet, to optimize the initial geometrical structure and modulate the CoCo2O4 surface from oxygen-excess to oxygen-deficiency. The pristine (Ni,Mn)-(Co)tet(Co2)octO4 NSs shows excellent OER activity with an overpotential of 281.6 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm−2. Moreover, without damaging their initial activity, the activated (Act)-(Ni,Mn)-(Co)tet(Co2)octO4 NSs after surface reconstruction exhibit long-term stability of 100 h under 10 mA cm−2, 50 mA cm−2, or even 100 mA cm−2. The optimal balance between electroactivity and stability leads to remarkable OER performances, providing a pivotal guideline for designing ideal electrocatalysts and inspiring more works to focus on the dynamic change of each occupation site component.  相似文献
