In this article, we develop a nonconforming mixed finite element method to solve Biot's consolidation model. In particular, this work has been motivated to overcome nonphysical oscillations in the pressure variable, which is known as locking in poroelasticity. The method is based on a coupling of a nonconforming finite element method for the displacement of the solid phase with a standard mixed finite element method for the pressure and velocity of the fluid phase. The discrete Korn's inequality has been achieved by adding a jump term to the discrete variational formulation. We prove a rigorous proof of a‐priori error estimates for both semidiscrete and fully‐discrete schemes. Optimal error estimates have been derived. In particular, optimality in the pressure, measured in different norms, has been proved for both cases when the constrained specific storage coefficient c0 is strictly positive and when c0 is nonnegative. Numerical results illustrate the accuracy of the method and also show the effectiveness of the method to overcome the nonphysical pressure oscillations. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This work deals with the numerical solution of a secondary consolidation Biot's model. A family of finite difference methods on staggered grids in both time and spatial variables is considered. These numerical methods use a weighted two‐level discretization in time and the classical central difference discretization in space. A priori estimates and convergence results for displacements and pressure in discrete energy norms are obtained. Numerical examples illustrate the convergence properties of the proposed numerical schemes, showing also a non‐oscillatory behavior of the pressure approximation. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The article is devoted to the study of convergence properties of a Finite Volume Method (FVM) using Voronoi boxes for discretization. The approach is based on the construction of a new nonconforming Finite Element Method (FEM), such that the system of linear equations coincides completely with that for the FVM. Thus, by proving convergence properties of the FEM, we obtain similar ones of the FVM. In this article, the investigations are restricted to the Poisson equation. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. This article deals with development and analysis of a numerical method for a coupled system describing miscible displacement of one incompressible fluid by another through heterogeneous porous media. A mixed finite element (MFE) method is employed to discretize the Darcy flow equation combined with a conservative finite volume (FV) method on unstructured grids for the concentration equation. It is shown that the FV scheme satisfies a discrete maximum principle. We derive L∞ and BV estimates under an appropriate CFL condition. Then we prove convergence of the approximate solutions to a weak solution of the coupled system. Numerical results are presented to see the performance of the method in two space dimensions. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2008 相似文献

A superconvergent nonconforming mixed finite element method for the Navier–Stokes equations 下载免费PDF全文
The superconvergence for a nonconforming mixed finite element approximation of the Navier–Stokes equations is analyzed in this article. The velocity field is approximated by the constrained nonconforming rotated Q1 (CNRQ1) element, and the pressure is approximated by the piecewise constant functions. Under some regularity assumptions, the superconvergence estimates for both the velocity in broken H1‐norm and the pressure in L2‐norm are obtained. Some numerical examples are presented to demonstrate our theoretical results. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 32: 646–660, 2016 相似文献

This paper presents a heterogeneous finite element method fora fluidsolid interaction problem. The method, which combinesa standard finite element discretization in the fluid regionand a mixed finite element discretization in the solid region, allows the use of different meshes in fluid and solid regions. Both semi-discrete and fully discrete approximations are formulatedand analysed. Optimal order a priori error estimates in theenergy norm are shown. The main difficulty in the analysis iscaused by the two interface conditions which describe the interactionbetween the fluid and the solid. This is overcome by explicitlybuilding one of the interface conditions into the finite elementspaces. Iterative substructuring algorithms are also proposedfor effectively solving the discrete finite element equations. 相似文献

In this article, a new weak Galerkin mixed finite element method is introduced and analyzed for the Helmholtz equation with large wave numbers. The stability and well‐posedness of the method are established for any wave number k without mesh size constraint. Allowing the use of discontinuous approximating functions makes weak Galerkin mixed method highly flexible in term of little restrictions on approximations and meshes. In the weak Galerkin mixed finite element formulation, approximation functions can be piecewise polynomials with different degrees on different elements and meshes can consist elements with different shapes. Suboptimal order error estimates in both discrete H1 and L2 norms are established for the weak Galerkin mixed finite element solutions. Numerical examples are tested to support the theory. 相似文献

We show that a non-standard mixed finite element method proposed by Barrios and Gatica in 2007, is a higher order perturbation
of the least-squares mixed finite element method. Therefore, it is also superconvergent whenever the least-squares mixed finite
element method is superconvergent. Superconvergence of the latter was earlier investigated by Brandts, Chen and Yang between
2004 and 2006. Since the new method leads to a non-symmetric system matrix, its application seems however more expensive than
applying the least-squares mixed finite element method.

In this article, unconditional superconvergent analysis of a linearized fully discrete mixed finite element method is presented for a class of Ginzburg–Landau equation based on the bilinear element and zero‐order Nédélec's element pair (Q11/Q01 × Q10). First, a time‐discrete system is introduced to split the error into temporal error and spatial error, and the corresponding error estimates are deduced rigorously. Second, the unconditional superclose and optimal estimate of order O(h2 + τ) for u in H1‐norm and p = ?u in L2‐norm are derived respectively without the restrictions on the ratio between h and τ, where h is the subdivision parameter and τ, the time step. Third, the global superconvergent results are obtained by interpolated postprocessing technique. Finally, some numerical results are carried out to confirm the theoretical analysis. 相似文献

A nonconforming mixed finite element scheme is proposed for Sobolev equations based on a new mixed variational form under semi-discrete and Euler fully-discrete schemes. The corresponding optimal convergence error estimates and superclose property are obtained without using Ritz projection, which are the same as the traditional mixed finite elements. Furthemore, the global superconvergence is obtained through interpolation postprocessing technique. The numerical results show the validity of the theoretical analysis. 相似文献

In the paper, we propose a stabilized multiphysics finite element method with Crank–Nicolson scheme for a poroelasticity model. The method can eliminate the locking phenomenon and reveal the multi‐physical process. The lowest equal order finite element pair is used to reduce the computational cost. Furthermore, the method needs no constraint condition Δt = O(h2) and achieves optimal convergent order. Numerical tests are provided to illustrate the optimal accuracy and good performance in eliminating locking phenomenon of the method. 相似文献

The two-level penalty mixed finite element method for the stationary Navier-Stokes equations based on Taylor-Hood element is considered in this paper. Two algorithms are proposed and analyzed. Moreover, the optimal stability analysis and error estimate for these two algorithms are provided. Finally, the numerical tests confirm the theoretical results of the presented algorithms. 相似文献

This report performs a complete analysis of convergence and rates of convergence of finite element approximations of the Navier–Stokes‐α (NS‐α) regularization of the NSE, under a zero‐divergence constraint on the velocity, to the true solution of the NSE. Convergence of the discrete NS‐α approximate velocity to the true Navier–Stokes velocity is proved and rates of convergence derived, under no‐slip boundary conditions. Generalization of the results herein to periodic boundary conditions is evident. Two‐dimensional experiments are performed, verifying convergence and predicted rates of convergence. It is shown that the NS‐α‐FE solutions converge at the theoretical limit of O(h2) when choosing α = h, in the H1 norm. Furthermore, in the case of flow over a step the NS‐α model is shown to resolve vortex separation in the recirculation zone. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, we provide a new mixed finite element approximation of the varia-tional inequality resulting from the unilateral contact problem in elasticity. We use the continuous piecewise P2-P1 finite element to approximate the displacement field and the normal stress component on the contact region. Optimal convergence rates are obtained under the reasonable regularity hypotheses. Numerical example verifies our results. 相似文献

This article considers a mixed finite element method for linear elasticity. It is based on a modified mixed formulation that enforces the continuity of the stress weakly by adding a jump term of the approximated stress on interior edges. The symmetric stress are approximated by nonconforming linear elements and the displacement by piecewise constants. We establish ??(h) error bound in the (broken) L2 norm for the divergence of the stress and ??(h) error bound in the L2 norm for both the displacement and the stress tensor. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A computable error bound for mixed finite element methods is established in the model case of the Poisson-problem to control the error in the H(div,) -norm. The reliable and efficient a posteriori error estimate applies, e.g., to Raviart-Thomas, Brezzi-Douglas-Marini, and Brezzi-Douglas-Fortin-Marini elements.

We present a symmetric version of the nonsymmetric mixed finite element method presented in (Lamichhane, ANZIAM J 50 (2008), C324–C338) for nearly incompressible elasticity. The displacement–pressure formulation of linear elasticity is discretized using a Petrov–Galerkin discretization for the pressure equation in (Lamichhane, ANZIAM J 50 (2008), C324–C338) leading to a non‐symmetric saddle point problem. A new three‐field formulation is introduced to obtain a symmetric saddle point problem which allows us to use a biorthogonal system. Working with a biorthogonal system, we can statically condense out all auxiliary variables from the saddle point problem arriving at a symmetric and positive‐definite system based only on the displacement. We also derive a residual based error estimator for the mixed formulation of the problem. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2012 相似文献

In this paper, a new splitting positive definite nonconforming mixed finite element method is proposed for pseudo-hyperbolic equations, in which a quasi-Wilson quadrilateral element is used for the flux p, and the bilinear element is used for u. Superconvergence results in ||·||div,h norm for p and optimal error estimates in L2 norm for u are derived for both semi-discrete and fully discrete schemes under almost uniform meshes. 相似文献
