When the Brans-Dicke theory is formulated in terms of the Jordan scalar field φ, the amount of dark energy is related to the mass of this field. We investigate a solution which is relevant to the late universe. We show that if φ is taken to be a complex scalar field, then an exact solution to the vacuum equations requires that the Friedmann equation possesses both a constant term and one which is proportional to the inverse sixth power of the scale factor. Possible interpretations and phenomenological implications of this result are discussed.  相似文献

An isotropic homogeneous cosmological model with Robertson-Walker line element is studied in general scalar tensor theory where the parameterω is a function of the scalar field. The model consists of perfect fluid with the equation of statep=ερ. Exact solutions are obtained in Dicke’s conformally transformed units forε=1 andε=1/3 assuming a functional relationship betweenω and the scalar fieldφ. The role that the auxiliary scalar field φ plays in Brans–Dicke cosmology is discussed. If a constant vacuum energy is assumed to be the origin of dark energy, then the corresponding density parameter would be a quantity varying with φ; and almost all of the fundamental components of our universe can be unified into the dynamical equation for φ. As a generalization of Brans–Dicke theory, we propose a new gravity theory with a complex scalar field ϕ which is coupled to the cosmological curvature scalar. Through such a coupling, the Higgs mechanism is naturally incorporated into the evolution of the universe, and a running density of the field vacuum energy is obtained which may release the particle standard model from the rigorous cosmological constant problem in some sense. Our model predicts a running mass scale of the fundamental particles in which the gauge symmetry breaks spontaneously. The running speed of the mass scale in our case could survive all existing experiments.  相似文献

We look for a Brans-Dicke type generalization of Horava-Lifshitz gravity. It is shown that such a generalization is possible within the detailed balance condition. Classically, the resulting theory reduces in the low energy limit to the usual Brans-Dicke theory with a negative cosmological constant for certain values of parameters. We then consider homogeneous, isotropic cosmology and study the effects of the new terms appearing in the model.  相似文献

In this work we have studied the possibility of obtaining cosmic acceleration in Brans-Dicke theory with varying or constant ω (Brans-Dicke parameter) and with or without self-interacting potential, the background fluid being barotropic fluid or Generalized Chaplygin Gas. Here we take the power law form of the scale factor and the scalar field. We show that accelerated expansion can also be achieved for high values of ω for closed Universe.  相似文献

The field equations with variable cosmological and gravitational constants are consider in the presence of perfect fluid for Kaluza-Klein type cosmological model. The exact solutions of the field equations are obtained by using the gamma law equation of state p=(γ−1)ρ in which the parameter γ depends on scale factor R. The functional form of γ(R) is used to analyze a wide range of cosmological solution at early universe for two phases in cosmic history: inflationary phase and radiation dominated phase. We use numerical integrations to study the asymptotical behaviour of a homogeneous but anisotropic Bianchi type IX model in General Relativity with a massive scalar field. As it is well known, for a Brans-Dicke theory, the asymptotical behaviour of the metric functions is ruled only by the Brans-Dicke coupling constant 0 with respect to the value –3/2. In this paper we examine if such a condition still exists with a massive scalar field. We also show that, contrary to what occurs for a massless scalar field, the singularity oscillatory approach may exist in the presence of a massive scalar field having a positive energy density.  相似文献

In the present paper, we investigate the possibility of a variation law for Hubble’s parameter H in the background of spatially homogeneous, anisotropic Bianchi type V space-time with perfect fluid source and time-dependent cosmological term. The model obtained presents a cosmological scenario which describes an early deceleration and late time acceleration. The model approaches isotropy and tends to a de Sitter universe at late times. The cosmological term Λ asymptotically tends to a genuine cosmological constant. It is observed that the solution is consistent with the results of recent observations.  相似文献

An attempt has been made to construct nonsingular cosmological models in Brans-Dicke theory by taking vacuum field as the long-range interacting scalar field which tends to avert the occurrence of initial singularity in a homogeneous and isotropic cosmological model. Such a model will possess an extremely small value of coupling parameter , as such they will be characteristically different from the usual Brans-Dicke models with 6. A justification for the estimated value of coupling parameter in the present paper has been given with particular reference to the helium problem. The model satisfies the initial conditions as proposed by Salam, Sinha, etc. However, it predicts a larger value of the energy density at the present epoch.  相似文献

A new generalisation of Einstein’s theory is proposed which is invariant under conformal mappings. Two scalar fields are introduced in addition to the metric tensor field, so that two special choices of gauge are available for physical interpretation, the ‘Einstein gauge’ and the ‘atomic gauge’. The theory is not unique but contains two adjustable parameters ζ anda. Witha=1 the theory viewed from the atomic gauge is Brans-Dicke theory (ω=−3/2+ζ/4). Any other choice ofa leads to a creation-field theory. In particular the theory given by the choicea=−3 possesses a cosmological solution satisfying Dirac’s ‘large numbers’ hypothesis.  相似文献

We study longstanding problem of cosmological clock in the context of Brans–Dicke theory of gravitation. We present the Hamiltonian formulation of the theory for a class of spatially homogeneous cosmological models. Then, we show that formulation of the Brans–Dicke theory in the Einstein frame allows how an identification of an appropriate cosmological time variable, as a function of the scalar field in the theory, can be emerged in quantum cosmology. The classical and quantum results are applied to the Friedmann–Robertson–Walker cosmological models.  相似文献

A class of new LRS Bianchi type-I cosmological models with a variable cosmological term is investigated in presence of perfect fluid. A procedure to generate new exact solutions to Einstein’s field equations is applied to LRS Bianchi type-I space-time. Starting from some known solutions a class of new perfect fluid solutions of LRS Bianchi type-I are obtained. The cosmological constant Λ is found to be positive and a decreasing function of time which is supported by results from recent supernovae Ia observations. The physical and geometric properties of spatially homogeneous and anisotropic cosmological models are discussed.  相似文献
